This group mission is the first in a series of five. It begins with Mer (click for map image) in the Barren Coast at approximate /location -190, -45.

    Pre-requisites for Requesting:
    - None

    You say, 'Hail, Mer'

Mer says 'Please, have you heard anything of [Renne]? I beg you, if you've heard even the slightest piece of information to tell me!'

    You say, 'Renne?'

Mer says 'Renne, my beloved Renne. We were due to be married a week ago but he has disappeared. We were going to set up a custom boat shop and he was giving up [pirate life] for good!'

You say, 'Giving up pirate life?'

Mer says 'Yes, he is a pirate, but don't hold that against him. He is a wonderful man and we love each other. Everyone in town thinks I am insane for holding out hope, they believe he is gone for good leaving me a fool. I know him, he would never do that to me. You must help me find him . . . Or what became of him. Please [help] me.'

You say, 'I will help you'

Mer says 'I have Renne's pirate seal. There is a camp of pirates up the coast. They aren't terribly friendly, but Renne's friend Jor is there. Show him this seal and tell him it's from me. He will help if he possibly can. There was a storm recently, and it's possible the pirates have more information than I as to which ships were lost in it. Please check with Jor!'

    You receive a "Pirate Seal".

You have been assigned the task 'Mer's Lost Love'.

Mer is desperately seeking information on her missing pirate lover. Take his seal to the pirate encampment to the north and see what information you can recover as to the whereabouts of his ship and crew.

Show Jor the pirate seal Mer Gave you (Barren Coast)

Head over to the pirate caves in the northeastern part of the zone (along shore). Jor (click for map image) is in the back of first cul-de-sac on the left, after the main cavern. He is surrounded by KOS pirates.

    Give him the seal:

Jor says 'Renne's seal, eh? You must be a friend of Mer's. Poor lass must be half out of her mind at this point. No word from [Renne]?

    You say, 'Renne?'

Jor says 'Aye, well that's no good at all. I got word today from the high seas that his ship ain't been seen in days, not since the storm. We be fearin' the [worst] on that one.'

    You say 'The worst?'

Jor says 'The sea be a dangerous mistress. we all know that. I have an inkling that there might be more to this here story. The last sighting of Renne's ship was near some fierce fog in the northwestern sea. Many a ship gone out that way and's never been seen again. I bet and industrious soul could find some evidence of it, if they had the [courage].'

You say, 'I have the courage...'

Jor says 'Well then, off ye go. Get yerself on a boat to the northwest then, off the docks. Oh and be careful out there. There's worse things than storms out that way, or so the rumors go.'

Purchase tickets to Maidens Grave and catch the boat (Barren Coast)

Dockmaster Weatherby says 'You look like you've been at sea on a dangerous mission for a while? Perhaps you plan to head back out, in which case you're going to need to purchase another ticket before boarding the Isabeau.'

Buy a "Seafarer's Ticket: Maidens Grave" from any of the Dockmasters along the coastline and keep it in your inventory. When the ship docks, step onto it and wait for it to sail out to the Buried Sea. Upon zoning, you'll find yourself in an instanced version of the island. (Next to you is a rowboat that serves as your zone-out.)

Search for any traces of Renne's ship 0/4 (Maidens' Grave)

You need to loot 4x "Wreckage" off siren NPCs on the island. This is an uncommon drop; you can count on anywhere from 25-40 kills depending on your luck.

Return the samples of wreckage to Mer 0/4 (Barren coast)

Near the zone-in area is a rowboat that you can click to port you back to the Buried Sea:

You get into the longboat and row out. You are quickly picked up by one of the many merchant ships sailing the waters of the Buried Sea and delivered safely to the dock on Jardel's Hook...

Head back to Mer in Barren Coast, and hand in the four "Wreckage" items:

Mer says, 'That's from his ship, I have no doubt. However, its just wreckage. There is no concrete evidence here of anything but a shipwreck. Those are common enough out there, and they dont always mean death. Many a ship has run aground and left the crew behind to speak of it. I am afraid I am unfamiliar with this [isle] you speak of.'

Mer is taken aback by the wreckage you have returned to her, but the lack of personal effects from Renne leaves her with hope.

Solo'd at 85 with merc. Just need 3rd to get mission.

When you get the task, you are given A Pirate Seal (weight 0.1).

Head over the the pirate caves. Jor in in the back of first cul-de-sac on the left, after the main cavern. He is surrounded by KoS pirates.

Give him the seal and he says:

Renne's seal, eh? You must be a freind of Mer's. Poor lass must be half out of her mind at this point. No word from {Renne}?

    (say Renne)

"Aye, well that's no good at all. I got word today from the high seas that his ship ain't been seen in days, not since the storm. We be fearin' the {worst} on that one."

    (say worst)

"The sea be a dangerous mistress. we all know that. I have an inkling that there might be more to this here story. The last sighting of Renne's ship was near some fierce fog in the northwestern sea. Many a ship gone out that way and's never been seen again. I bet and industrious soul could find some evidence of it, if they had the {courage}."

    (say courage)

"Well then, off ye go. Get yerself on a boat to the northwest then, off the docks. Oh and be careful out there. There's worse things than storms out that way, or so the rumors go."

    Following along is not required.

The next step is to buy a ticket to Maiden's Eye and get on the boat to zone in.

The next step is to loot four items called "Wreckage" (they stack). They drop randomly off the sirens right there near where you zone in (mostly off Sirens in the middle, just follow path in).

Click the boat (where you zoned in) to zone back out, then head back to Mer and giver her the 4 pieces of Wreckage to finish up.

Dude, This was soloable at like level 75. Why not include useful information instead of re-hashing stuff that's been listed there.

    Here's an Example :

    1) To finish this mission requires you killing at most 6 Mobs

    2) You can chain do this Mission in about 15 - 30 minutes to rack up on doubloons

    Here's how . . .

Have a FD person or fast runner to get mission and turn in piece.

Other two grab ticket and head to isle.

The 4 mobs that need to be killed and drop the drift wood reside fairly smack dab in the center pool area where there's a head on a stick.

Run to the left side of the island about center to top and bottom.

head towards the center, there's a little ridge you can set up camp to pull you 1st mob, pull with magic anull to clear off that annoying spell reflect buff they have then use whatever means you have to snare the mob.

head to the next ridge over, where there is a big rock "doorway" pull the closest siren in the same way as previous.

Set up camp in little cubby to the left right after you pass under the rock doorway, pull the 4 closest mobs that are hanging near the water to your camp spot, these will always drop the drift wood.

Run back to where you zoned in and click the boat to zone out, turn in drift wood, Wash and Re-peat as many times as necessary to get the # of doubloons you need.

you're absolutely correct, cause you also said that the wreckage drops of specifc mobs in the center and not random ones. . .

Jor is in the pirate caves, surrounded by KOS mobs, u need to do the turn in and exodus or FD to get past that part of the mission for ur group.

How do I zone into instanced Buried Sea?
    # Jan 07 2008 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
After killing like 40-50 sirens around the Maiden's Grave island in TheBuried Sea zone without a single Wreckage drop, I realized some posts were saying I need to zone into instanced version. How do I get to it? I bought tickets from dockmasters and took a boat ride. But it seems to be going to regular version no matter what.

I just returned to EQ after some years and would appreciate some help.

Lev on over to the western side of the island via the water. Head to pretty much the center of the western edge and head towards the giant arch. On the eastern side of the arch are the sirens that drop the wreckage. Takes about 25 mins per run solo, heh.

    # Apr 02 2007 at 5:28 PM Rating: Decent
Have not seen the wreckage drop from anything except the sirens. I know they dropped from enticers and seductresses, not certain about the others.
Wreckage is not random - it's in one area each mission
    # Feb 18 2007 at 12:33 PM Rating: Decent
The Wreckage pieces all seem to clump together in the same area. If you get a Wreckage off a siren in one spot, the others will all be found in the same general area. It's better to take a few mobs from each area than to plow through every mob in the zone because of this fact.
Wreckage is not random - it's in one area each mission
    # Mar 23 2007 at 8:23 PM Rating: Decent
If you have a tracker, track the mob named "flaming skull" will lead you to the group where the wreckage drops.

Also click on the rowboat by the zone in to return to the barren coast.
Wreckage is not random - it's in one area each mission
    # Mar 30 2007 at 8:58 AM Rating: Decent
If you have a tracker, set track sort to 'Normal' and the skull will be at the top of the list. You can then proceed directly to the correct area. In our experience, you should be able to get to the right spot with 5 or 6 kills.

"wreckage" (wt.1.0, size small, class: all, Race: all) was droppable, We got 4 pieces off sirens from the inner area of the island after slaughtering for a while.

For the quest "Piecing Things Together", there are three "a pirate's corpse" on the island. One must hail them to update the quest.

Once the third corpse is hailed, the next step in the mission is getting ambushed. Defeat the ambush and escape.

When we did it, there were three waves of sirens. First wave was three, second was two, and third was four mobs. Note: You may want to station the group in the middle area of the island, in case one gates, you won't have the island pulled on you.

It would appear to be an instanced zone. I swam off towards another island and came to a sudden stop in the middle. Turning sent me along a zone wall.
