You say, 'Hail, Peretaenu'

Peretaenu says 'Did Nicoli or Scout Madu send you? Never mind that is not important. You must gather a group of your friends and [stop] them!'

You say, 'stop who?'

Peretaenu says 'Yes. Stop them! I do not know why [they] have been raiding us. But they have. You must go. You must [help].'

You say, 'who are they?'

Peretaenu says 'Drakkin. But they are Drakkin from the north, not from Crescent Reach. While I understand if you do not want to stop them since they are drakkin, please, you must find some way to [help] us.'

You say, 'I will help'

Peretaenu says 'Thank you! They are coming from the path in the north west of this area, where it goes to the lowlands. Please hurry, you must stop them.'

You have been assigned the task 'They are Coming!'.

This is a group task but can be requested when solo.

Go to the entrance to the lowlands and stop stop the Drakkin raiders before they can attack the Minohten camps.

  1. Confront the raiders as they come from the lowlands - Goru`kar Mesa

The task updates close to the Sunderock Springs zoneline. Two drakkin raiders will attack. They will spawn in waves. 2, 3 then 2 and the captain. In the level ranges of 57 to 60 for the captain.

  2. Slay the raider's captain - Goru`kar Mesa

Return to the Minohten camp. Three drakkin raiders will be spawned in the camp fire in the centre of the camp. As you fight them, another couple of raiders and the raider captain will attack. All might spawn if you delay before engaging.

  3. Return to Peretaenu with news of your victory - Goru`kar Mesa

    You say, 'Hail, Peretaenu'

Peretaenu says 'That is such a relief. Thank you. Normally I am not such an alarmist, but they just seem to not stop. If you are willing, they are likely to try again tomorrow, and you could [help] us yet again then.'

Your task 'They are Coming!' has been updated.

The Minohten camp is safe for another day. Something will have to be done to stop these raid permanently. But for now perhaps adventurers like yourself can help keep the threat under control.

    You gain experience!!
You have successfully been granted your reward for: They are Coming!

If you are at the first step where you go to zone line if the Green Legion mobs with their leader is up then it is possible they will block the drakkin raiders from entering the zone.

So you may need to kill the Greens first.
Doable solo for ranger 57

I killed him with my ranger lvl 57.
After first raiders will appear snare them and zone to Sunderock, don't fight. Inviz, zone back to Goru'kar Mesa. When other raiders with the captain (he is lvl 60) will come to you do the same. Snare and zone, that will divide them. Zone back, DoT, shoot, send merc, run, snare, shoot, dot and you win!

I completed this task today with my level 62 Cleric & "Tank" Merc. Had 3 to 5 raiders attack my tank along with the Captain from the Sunderock zone line.

Here's a tip: If you get too many adds beatin' on you, zone into Sunderock, heal/med up & go back in with guns blazin'. Rinse & Repeat as needed.

Nice "Windwillow Sap Bauble" reward. You know I love that extra Mana Regen!!!Smiley: nod

Soloed with my 63 enchanter.

Upon having them spawn on me at Sunderock zone line, I just ran, mezzed them a ways out, memblurred and ran back. Repeated a few times until the Captain and his retainers spawned. Rooted the captain while holding the others in check with an AE mezz.

I ran away, Mezzed and blurred the raiders. Then just DoT'd down the captain.

Be wary--

The captain hits for somewhere near 500 or so.
My slow at 63 was only partially successfully, though I never got a resist on any spell.

He has a lot of HP, count on it taking a while to burn him down with Root Rot.

Only the captain has to die in order for the task to complete, the rest of the raiders didn't even make it to the Satyr camp.
Spawn point for raiders

Some friends and I just completed this quest this morning. The other posts seemed to indicate that only two raiders would appear at the Sunderock Zone in, then the rest at the Mino camp. This is just to clarify that all raiders will spawn at the Sunderock zone in, but make their way to the Mino camp. We did encounter the first pair, then three sets of three. The first two sets of three were two raiders and a caster. The third was two raiders and the captain. One note about the captain. If you kill him without clearing the others, you will have completed the quest. You don't have to clear out the others, but for those other players in the area, it would be nice to do. Smiley: smile
At Level 52

Even though it says that you can get this quest at level 50, they con red to me at level 52. I would suggest getting a group together, with some skilled people. Otherwise, this is not easy for a solo person at level 52 (I'm a cleric, BTW).

It appears that the quest has changed from when I first did it several months ago. Previously all the raider mobs would gather at the campfire where you could single pull them at your leisure until you could pull the raider captain and kill him.

That does not happen any more. While the raider captain will eventually make his way to the campfire in the Minohten camp, he will not linger there. After a very brief period he will wander off back over the mountains and despawn.

This seems to be a 'fix' to the quest, as having the Drakkin raiders remain at the campfire for a long (indefinate?) period of time where they could be single pulled did make this an easy quest. As long as you had enough in the group to kill the raiders one at a time, you would have no problems completing the quest. Now you have to devise a strategy to separate the captain from the raiders or have a group that is powerful enough to kill the raiders as they spawn or pick them off as they make their way to the campfire.

Solo'd with 62 Ranger

Easy Quest for a ranger! All Raiders are root and snareable. Get the quest, camo up, run to the Sunder ZL, when you get the quest has updated message run away. Go back to the Minohten camp and pull with your bow from the stack of raiders, they will only argo one at a time and you simply root, shoot and DoT. Great XP at lvl 62. When your able to target the captain kill him the same way. If a Raider gets within melee ranger it will hurt but if you root and snare correctly you can do the entire quest without being hit.
My own experience with this task.

I did this task numerous times, for about two weeks, for farming raider drops. Now, I won't say that any of the posts here are wrong, cause EQ does changes to their programming all the time without telling us so you can never say for sure that something will work today the same way it worked yesterday, but....

During my farming, I never saw any raiders spawn at the mino camp. All raiders appeared at the Sunder zi. Perhaps this was because of how I would start the task, i.e, my main was always in-place in front of the zi and my box alt was at the mino camp next to Peretaenu. The alt would do all the chat but otherwise just sit there at the mino camp and my main would solo the raider mobs.

The mobs would always come in three waves of three mobs, with the first two waves consisting of two melee and a caster. The third wave was two melee and the raider captain. I would make sure that all mobs would agro my main (75 mage) and then I would necro-kite, i.e., I would run around in circles with the mobs chasing me...pet would catch and kill each mob one by one. I would almost always kill off each wave before the next wave appeared. I was never able to figure out, for a certainty, what triggered the second and third waves to come. It did not seem to be strictly time triggered and yet not strictly kill triggered either...perhaps a combination of both. /shrug

It was important that the mobs see and agro me, because if they didn't, they would walk towards the mino camp and I would have a harder time killing them with centaurs, giants and those riverbottom mobs around. (I needed to kill them because, like I mentioned, I farm them. For the purposes of the task though, you can ignore them and just kill the captain when he pops.)

The melee mobs run out to attack right away (if you are withing agro range) and the casters hang back and nuke, sometimes for a surprisingly long period of time, so if you aren't close enough to the zi to see behind that little rock outcropping next to the right-hand column, you may not see that they are three waves of three. One caster may still be hanging back after you have killed the melees and so it will appear that the first wave is two mobs and the second wave is four mobs.

The trigger point for the first step in the task is just a bit northeast of the small rise in front of the zi, so if you don't want the raiders to pop immediately after the NPC chat, then hang back a bit and camp right on top.

As for their strengths, they are the typical "modern" EQ mobs...undercons by comparison to the old world zones. They hit harder and have alot more hp...but they aren't raid mobs...they still only green and lb to a lvl 75. I don't think the casters were able to land their spells, or if they did, I didn't notice any effects.

Good luck with your own experiences. And plz play nice...since the task giver and the battle are in two diff places, its entirely possible to get the task while someone else is already in the middle of their own. And occassionally, a lowbie might be resting at the Sunder zi...easy meat for the raiders. So be a good player and give an ooc. 8-)

Solo'd this today on 75 Zerker and cleric-

You get the quest in the MInohten camp- It doesn't activate until you reach the entrace gates for the zone to sunderrock.

It was a few waves of very weak mobs. And I'm being generous when I call them waves... one single melee mob, followed by a caster, followed by 2 casters, followed by 1 solider and 2 casters. The cleric could have easily solo'd them all but I didn't have the patience. I just sent them to mob heaven as soon as they spawned.

Headed back to the quest giver and hailed - I'd say 15 minutes - This was so easy I can only say "Thanks Sony"

This is a group task, can be gotten solo; and easily solo'd at lvl 75. But everyone in the group who has the task gets the reward. I love this quest, gave it a 5.

That's called DUO, not solo. Perhaps you meant to say you boxed it?

And why would you want to do it on a 75? exp?

Gee thanks for the info... OMG how could I go this long and not know that!!!

Wow!

I SOLO'D it on my Berserker.. while my cleric sat along side in group with two of my twinks... I COULD have solo'd it with my cleric. Let me break that down for you; from the point of initial aggro to the point of task update message it was possible for my cleric alone to manage aggro, dps, and successfully slay the mob. There we go.. no go break down some other symantics for someone else who cares. I suppose i was technically boxing... but then again I assume technically your a noob.

Ahh yes, the personal attack, very impressive. It's so much better than a reasonable argument.

And of course, clearly I must be a "noob" because I said something you didn't like. Care for a hanky?

I solo'd it with the zerker.. I COULD have solo'd it with the cleric... I was boxing them both with 2 of my twinks sitting in group for the reward... is that clear enough for you?

Perhaps you can find someone else to advise to your version of EQ lingo.. I've had enough thanks. Move along pls. Process this one... stfunoobkmfa

We had raiders and captain all grouped in one spot at the campfire in the Minohten homeland. It was wierd seeing the raiders and Minohtens mingling together as Minohten's just walked around em as if they were buddies. Anyways if you pulled a mob from the stack of raiders/captains from a distance then no other mob would aggro. Thus single pulling is a cinch. But if you get physically too close to them then you have a stack of raiders after you. One raider/captain at a time and these mobs are not so tough. 5-10 at a time and not so easy!

If attacking a raider would cause all the others to aggro then this would require a full group (or even more if there were raiders already at camp from a previous mission attempt). Since single pulling is a cinch - just nuke from a distance - this quest is quite easy.

The solution, it seems to me, would be to make an attack on one an attack on all, but to have all raiders despawn once a mission ended (only the raiders/captain spawned by THAT mission should despawn).

"Quite easy" note: the mobs hit for in the 200s. A level 44 tank might not be able to handle these mobs, especially when fighting multiples. When we did the quest at first we had a full group of 40s and 50s and did not know to let the raiders go to camp and be easily single pulled. We got owned and zoned or died. Once we added a level 70+ tank to the mix and figured out the 1-pull at camp strategy it was very easy. With the 1-pull strategy just one tank is sufficient to complete the quest, killing 2-5 raiders at a time as seems to be the idea of the quest would require 2 or possibly 3 level 70s along with any number of 45+.
Too easy or bugged

This seemed buggy to me. Soloed it. Once at the Sunderock zoneline, the two raiders spawned, but as I worked on them more and more raiders continued to spawn until there were like eight hanging around. I zoned and they poofed but quest updated so I went to camp to kill captain. He was already spawned with the other raiders on top of the campfire and not moving. Single pulled him, dropped him, bingo-bango got aug. Took like 10 minutes total.

Just duo'd using 65 zerker and 70 enc. Have one person run to Sunder zone leaving Chanter to park mobs. Drop them till captain spawns, kill Capt then rest of raiders - was fun and nice reward.
