Several Vergalid Mines quests require that you explore the "Ancient Ruins".

The loc for these ruins is 583, -2010. This is in an area reachable only by using a key.

1) Loot an Arid Indicolite Shard. This drops off Kickpick and Skullcrush mobs in the zone.

The Shard is flagged temporary, so don't camp before putting it to use.

2) Go to the Shrine of Zek, blue crystals in the NE of the zone that are also explored as part of the Wanderlust quest. They can be found at 898, -1486.

3) Stand on/at the crystals and right-click your Arid Indicolite Shard. This will give you message "You infuse the crystal's power into Vergalid's life stream."

4) You receive a Flawless Indicolite Shard and can now click on the statue just to your east to reach the inner area of Vergalid Mines.

One person is keyed by this. Just you. However, /corpse can drag people through, and CoH works as well.

Ok, to make this a bit more detailed, once you have looted the "Arid Indicolite Shard", from the creatures(Mostly Orc's & Goblin's as well as the Drakkin healer's), that you will come across, once you exit the elevator going down into the mines from the entrance of the zone, going down either right or left tunnel, right you will come down into the flooded caves area, which will have the turtles, the caimans and those annoying plant things, which these do not drop the piece, you will need to take the "Arid Indicolite Shard" down the left-hand tunnel, from the elevator(In other words, as soon as you exit the elevator, head forward just alil bit, until you reach the intersection, then make a left.), and once you make your way to the open cave area, where you will see tents and etc, follow the left-hand wall, until you come to the second tunnel entrance, and enter that, and follow it until you come to where there are Drakkin researchers and etc in there, and across the cave area, there will be a big stone statue looking guy, standing in-front of the doorway you have to go through, now, as long as you are invisible, and click on the door, it will not remove your invisibility, you have to go through that doorway, and you will see a large bright glowing blue crystal formation in the center of the room, then you go up to it, or on it, does not matter, and right-click the shard you have looted, which will put in your cursor, the new whiter shard, that is a no drop piece, that will always stay with you, and you may place it in your bank, and it will still work, just do not have to have it on your character's, to be able to enter the lower part of the Vergalid Mines! Also, when you do right-click on it, it will remove your invisibility, BUT, nothing around will aggro you, as long as you stick next to the blue crystal formation! Hope this helps anyone!

PS........To enter the lower depths of the mines, just go directly behind the crystals in the room where you take the temp shard and make it into the new one, and just click on the wall/statue to enter the "Ancient Ruins" area, it will teleport you to the lower part, where there are higher level creatures there, and there will be a smaller room once you go through the tunnel, which the stuff is roughly level 73-75, but, before warned, the next area will have a lot higher creatures in it, which at level 75, will con yellow and red, and some white/gray and DB, but mostly yellow!
Using campfires

If you're in a Fellowship, you only need one key. Only the person who puts down the campfire needs to click through.

If you are in a Fellowship, you only need 3 "keys". You can use the fire for those in the fellowship that don't have the key...
Just have the 3 with the keys go in and make a fire, then the others can click on their Fellowship Insignias...Poof, you're in.

Magical method for shard drop

Attempted this last night. Killed orcs and gobs for probably 2 hours, and finally declared to my partner..."ok...one more..then have to call it for tonight." That of course was the magic phrase, as the next orc pulled dropped the shard. BTW...just did the orcs and gobs near the elevator lift. Now just have to rinse and repeat for my partner. Rest of quest to activate the shard and thereby gain entrance into the inner part was cake. I hopped up in the middle of the blue crystal cluster down by the doorway/port, right clicked on the arid shard (which drops invis)...nothing aggroed at that spot, and I received the permanent flawed version...clicked on statue base to the east..and poof..was inside inner part.

Finally got my shard.

Took a coupls of days.

Dropped from a mob by the entrance. You don't have to go anywhere in the zone, just fight the first guys you see.

Ran over to the blue crystal ( North West area ) and clicked my shard to get a second crystal/shard. Easy. Don't forget to invis.

Door Went Down

I have posted this under the arid indicolite shard also.

Okay...

As of 12-29-07...

I looted an arid indicolite shard for the clicky key quest to get past the stone door.

I went to the blue crystals near the door and right-clicked on the shard to get the Flawless Indicolite Shard... and the arid shard remained.

Normally I wouldn't have done anything other than destroy the arid shard except that I had once been bored while killing and had taken an 'extra' shard to the blue crystals and clicked it. I received an emote to the effect that the energy of the shard had gone to boost the lifeforce of Vergalid.

So...

I right-clicked the arid shard again... and I got the same emote about boosting Vergalid's energy.

Well...

I've always been one to test limits, so I continued to right-click the arid shard again and again and again...

The Result...

After 10 right-clicks THE STONE DOOR DISAPPEARED!!!

I did NOT time it exactly, but I believe it remained gone for approximately 10 minutes after which it respawned. I repeated this with the same shard and got the same result. The door disappeared after 10 clickies.

During this time I had a mage toon down in the 'Vergalid Room' and CoH'd myself down. Originally whenever I was near Vergalid I could run all around him and never be aggro. This time (and again I stress it could be coincidence) Vergalid TL'd me to the zone-in with an emote to the effect that he would not deal with me.

SO...

Did I inadvertantly make Vergalid a targetable mob?

Are the Sunderock Springs quests required to actually take on this version of Vergalid?

Does anyone have any input?

I just wanted to confirm that multiple clicks destroyed the door for me too. No cool effects, just the door disappeared. But I'll add that it didn't take me 10 clicks. I clicked once to make the Flawless Indicolite Shard, then AFKed for about 5-10 minutes. I came back and clicked 4 more times at which point the door disappeared.

If you have the shard in your bank, you will be able to click through. If you destroy the shard, you can't.

I can confirm that you need to keep Shard in your inventory whenever you want to enter the ancient Ruins. My alt couldn't enter to rez himself caus he didn't have this shard anymore on him.

More importantly, does the Flawless Indicolite Shard need to be kept in inventory whenever I want to enter the ancient ruins, or is it enough to have it in the bank after entering the first time. It does not appear on /key.

In bank is sufficient. However, since it doesnt go on keyring, if you destroy it, you are no longer keyed (confirmed).

I think the quest is busted. The mobs who drop the arid shard aren't dropping for some reason. Maybe its just me but I killing for 9 hours with my box team.
Not off and on, die and rez, this was 9 hours of fully DPoB+ geared chars completely destroying the zone 8-15 mobs at a time. So no exageration on the timing. I tried again the following morning with my box team and still, 5 hours in, not 1 single drop arid shard drop.

Anyone else having luck?

Just got one to drop today. We spent 2 hours yesterday and 90 min today. Thought it was broken as well. I guess they 'fixed' the drop rate.
