This is the fourth task in a series of six. The tasks must be completed in order, and may be repeated after completion.

Upon completing the previous task, speak with Akins again:

You say, 'Hail, Akins'

Akins says 'Well those Shambling Mound Branches you brought back earlier really has my interest captured. There is certainly more afoot here than I [initially thought].'

You say, 'Initially thought?'

Akins says 'I made the assumption that the shambling mounds were animated by the spirits of the restless dead. Now that this doesn't appear to be the case, I am left with even more questions than before. Head back deeper into the marsh and see if there are other walking plants. These might contain even more powerful traces of the magic that created the shambling mounds.'

You have been assigned the task 'Dead Wood: Treants'.

Head to Blightfire Moors to hunt treants at +750, +700. You need to kill 6 of either Rotwood Saplings or Rotwood Treants and loot four Treant Wood Hearts. Once you have everything head back to Akins and hand them in to complete the task.

Once again, Akins carefully examines the plant remnants you brought him, sniffing and evening chewing on them for a bit. Spitting out some pieces he explains that indeed, the treants are animated by the very same magic as were the shambling mounds but seem to contain much more of the same magic, as if they were closer to the source. He goes on to explain that it is not necromantic magic but something even darker, angrier. . . as if someone was exacting a deep seated thirst for [revenge].

You receive 12 platinum.
You gain experience!!

This opens the next task in the series, available from Akins.

They are located in the Blightfire Moors at +750, +700. Rotwood Saplings AND Rotwood Treants drop the hearts.

Task is "Dead Wood, Treants" the "wood hearts" are part of the task, not the title.

Search for the treants and slay several to collect samples for Akins - 0 / 6 - Blightfire Moors
Loot 4 Treant Wood Heart - 0 / 4 - Blightfire Moors
Return the hearts to Akins - 0 / 4 - Crescent Reach

Saplings do count, and I have noticed that whatever I need appears on the first mobs and stops appearing once I have what I need. Could be just a coinkydink.

edit: niiiiiice. helps if I get the title right if I am correcting it.

OK - somebody explain to me out quest number 4 is rated for level 20 but quest number 3 is level 25.

If you cannot get quest 3 until you are level 25 (and I am just going on the write up - since my Drakkin is only level 21 currently) how would anyone know that quest nubmer 4 can be done by a level 20 - since you cannot get it until you complete quest 3 which can only be obtained well after that level?

Whomever rated it at a 20 was only "estimating" based on the level of the kills. It should be rated level 25 as well since you cannot get it until after you are 25th. So, I agree, it should show the lowest level that you can be granted the quest AND able to complete it.

Late response, I know, but barely running my first alt through the quest. Reason its rated for level 20 is because you can get the kill counts and drops from mobs you can kill at level 20, whereas the 3rd quest had higher level mobs. Technically, when you get the quest, it says to go deeper into the marsh to find them. If you went to the marsh area north of the briars from the 3rd task, there are treants in there. Those are the ones he's talking about, and they're higher level. But SoE, in their infinite wisdom, made all the treants in the zone count for the kills and all drop the hearts, so most people (like the guide says to do) just kill the lower level treants near the druid ring.
