Yavia is a Drakkin female. When first found she is at 11% health, seated in the south-most set of spider caverns in The Steppes. Loc -1420, -1880.

You say, 'Hail, Yavia'

Yavia says 'Oh dear, I thought no one would ever find me down here. I have been trapped down here for days with those . . . Those vicious spiders. I think they have been using me for bait, to bring other travelers into their reach. That's why I no longer call out. But you are here now and if we don't act quickly we may become their next meal. Can you [help] me get out of this tangled web Lias?'

You say, 'I can help'

Yavia says 'I barely have enough energy to remain conscious. I haven't had anything to eat or drink for a few days. If you can get me [food and drink] I think I'll be able to get enough energy to walk out of there.'

You say, 'What food and drink?'

Yavia says 'I had some Drakkin Trail Mix and Fresh Glacier Water in my pack. You should be able to find it around here somewhere. I don't think the spiders eat fruits and nuts. Hurry Lias, before the they find us here. Make sure you bring back enough!'

Yavia has been lost inside these caves for days now and no longer has the strength to escape. She needs food and drink to regain her strength, but be wary about remaining in the caves for too long.

As you feed Yavia her health slowly goes up.

Just completed this as a lvl 81 Iksar Warrior, received the Assassin Weave Cape as reward.
Completed today.

I found it notable that none of the quest-spawned spiders were anywhere near as difficult as the surrounding wasp spiders. The various spiders for this quest hit for a max of ~250-500 (~250 for the spiderlings, ~500 for the queen, who also used a DOT and a Slow debuff), while the wasp spiders in the area can hit for ~750 and seem to have much higher ATK, as they hit for max a lot more often.

As it was, tanking each entire wave of quest-spawned spiders was relatively easy. I used Fortitude Discipline at the start of the fight with the Queen (yellow con at 64), but it turned out to be unnecessary.

Notes:
Completed with my level 64 warrior (AA auto-grant enabled), 63 shaman (AA auto-grant enabled), 64 melee DPS merc, 63 healer merc; probably could have done with two DPS mercs and the shaman as healer. Gear was almost all Flawed and Intricate Defiant from previous Hero's Journey quests.

There was nothing tricksy or special about my method - I just cleared the wasp spiders out of Yavia's room, started the quest, and fought the waves of spiders just to the right of Yavia (which is away from the very small aggro range of most of the patrolling local spawns).

Some of the waves of spiders didn't all rush me at once, instead pathing into the room, taking up positions around the cave while I fought one, and then pathing towards Yavia after waiting about 20 seconds and joining the fight. Whirlwind Blade made it easy to pick up the adds and did not hit Yavia.

Cripple seems to be even more useful than Slow on these mobs.

i am doing this on my lvl 59 necro.... just an FYI.. you need the lvl 59 snare.

the spell line-up I have i am using is as followed

Devouring darkness.
scent of terris
Cessation of cor
pyrocruor
vexing mordinia
mana skin
FD
insidious retrogression
---------------
I also suggest making a /ooc INC train out of the 1st spider cave RUNNING WEST TO FD

INV and run to the NPC in back of the 1st set of caves... none of the spiders that are up before you start the quest see inv...
stand behind the NPC hail him follow the text start the quest...
inv.. wait for the spiders to move to the far side of the hill... ( they have a low agro range..) stand at max range and loot the food and water from the top of the hill... INV move back behind the NPC... wait on spiders to once again move to the far side of the hill... ( inv potions work well for this part only) once the spiders move to far side of hill... start hand in.. 1 item at a time.... NOTE**** once you complete the hand in... 2 assassin spiderling spawn.. they see INC***** hand in 1 item at a time... place the second item in the npc (give box) turn toward the exit.... ( i suggest making this run 2 or 3 times before hand just so you dont get lost..) hand in the last item.. start running like hell.. hit the inv pot on your potion belt.. RUN LIKE THE DEVIL... the 2 assassin spiderling will follow you with every spider in room and as you run out of the cave inv from your inv pots... you will gain adds.... no worries... click you ( /ooc TRAIN INC heading WEST from the spider caves to FD, will be snaring a assassin spiderling please watch out lots of adds...) key run west ontop of the little rise... almost to the elements and hit devouring darkness..... turn to see how far away the mobs are.... once devoruing darkness lands... run like hell circle back toward the cave ents. and FD... wait for the other mobs to re-set.. devouring darkness will wear off.. no worries if you did it right... 1 of the assassin spiderling will be clear prety far away... stay FD wait for him to get within casting range.. stand hit him again with snare FD..... make sure no mobs came back out.. once you are sure... stand up cast and send pet and kill him...

for second assassin spiderling also sees inv.. you can pull him 1 of 2 ways... if you are in-line of sight.. pretty much he can see you and will come... or inv move close and hit him with scent of terris... very good spell for this. lowers resist which is good... then hit the inv pot and repeat.

keep this up until the mature assassin spiders... they do not see inv.. but run a bit faster..or so it seemed...pull with scent of terris....

i killed all the spiders up to the queen, but she is lvl 66 and I cant touch her at lvl 59 so good luck with that

devouring darkness has same resist adjustment as dooming darkness. and it is not worth to cast for so much mana.

scent of terris - never lands for me

so, will they stand there when you fd? or they return to the cave?

how hard does a queen hit?

also SOW 5 or better is needed... dont try this with the sow pot 4 you will die
