You say, 'Hail, Scout Madu' Scout Madu says 'Well met traveler. I have been asked to keep an eye on this area and to attempt to reduce any threats to Crescent Reach that might arise. I can always use someone that has the will to attempt dangerous scouting missions, if you're able to deal with the [unusual folk] that live in these parts.' You say, 'What unusual folk?' Scout Madu says 'It was the oddest thing. This fellow I don't know, one with the legs of a deer and the face of a human, stumbled into me the other day. And I mean stumbled literally. It seems that he had been very deep in his cups. He kept rambling on about his brother betraying him, but I never could get more out of him before he wandered off. How odd of him. Sorry, I do not know why you made me think of him, you obviously have your [wits] about you.' You say, 'I have my wits about me.' Scout Madu says 'Yes. Yes you do. If you would like to explore the area, I'm certain that Vulu over there has some work for you. But if you're looking for something more interesting than just wandering around, I might have some [tasks] that are a bit more dangerous that you could undertake for me.' You say, 'What tasks?' Scout Madu says 'I have many tasks available, but most of them require that you have much experience. When you think you are ready, come back to me and ask me about my more [difficult] tasks. In the meantime I have some tasks for ones with less experience, and I will even reward ones who help me with some [extra armor].' You say, 'What extra armor?' Scout Madu says 'I have extra armor that has been given to me for scouts of this region. If you wish, I can share some of this armor with you. I have armor that will cover your [forearms], [feet], [hands], [head], [arms], [legs], or [torso]. Which would you like to get? I will only give you one piece to fit each place on your body as we do not have an infinite amount of supplies, even with the supplies you will be getting me.' You say, 'Torso.' Scout Madu says 'The bears in this region are particularly territorial. There is one in particular that is above the rest. He has been named Ursalua by those that reside in this area. Wondering how a lvl 40 can do this task solo when Ursalua is a lvl 45 mob? He cons red to me at 42 and no way am I gonna start hitting on him even tho I am a mage with a pet and clr merc. I hear is real MEAN.

I just solo'd Ursalua with my 39 ranger and a cleric merc. Yes, it was a "wasted" quest, but after reading the first few posts, I thought it worth a try.
As to the question posed by Ogun, the answer is, "Why pay top dollar for a cleric merc at 65 when you can get one for a song at a lower level and have them advance along with you?"
And then, secondly, a cleric merc will help you take down red mobs....

What the heck are you doing with a cleric merc prior to lvl 65?
Though the Armor is required 45 you can get this quest at 40, I did so on my Wizard and was granted the Ice Woven Cloth Robe

had this mob camped for hours, when a 75 necro named Fallz on the Povar server jumps in and steals it, after he trains us with giants a griffs from across the zone. Then after the rez'n is done, and waiting another 3 hours for it to pop again, he does it a second time, knowing the group we were in had been there all day.
Then he blames the train on Needzmana, wizard from the Twilight of Gods guild, who he was actually helping to KS our mob.
Just an FYI, if you ever run into either of them, they KS...and that says alot for that guild as well

You may clear the bear caves, but for me Ursalua popped outside the caves in front of the entrance... Just don't give up!

If you get this quest then someone else kills Ursalua but say you get one shot in there to help. Will Scout Madu give you credit for the kill then let you hand in the pelt?

I have a wasted pelt, as the task requires the kill to update.
All the tasks for armor are unlimited in time, just grab them all.

Hi,
Not a difficult Quest to do. Kill all the Mesa Bears in the cave and outside a few times and Ursalua will spawn. Loot the pelt and turn in to Scout Madu.
Hail Scout Madu first to get the Quest go through the dialogue and say "What Torso armor?" when he presents you with a list of what pieces of extra armor you can get.
For Enchanters its:
