This raid expedition begins with Trelsa McKindle in the Everfrost Peaks wayfarer camp.

You say, 'Hail, Trelsa McKindle'

Trelsa McKindle says 'Ever since I took me first steps in that icy kingdom, I thought I was seein' things, aye. Never in all me life have I crossed wit' such a motley bunch o' creatures. It was almost enough to warp me mind. The ab'rations, planar beasts and frosty creatures 'ave been the source of no end o' difficulties and problems for me, aye. Hmm, if ye could rally the call of yer friends ye might be able to help us wit' a serious [problem].'

You say, 'A problem?'

Trelsa McKindle says 'Ere's the long and short o' it. We have pinpointed the location o' the strongest magical emanations coming from the 'eart of Miragul's Menagerie. Rumor 'as it that the magic is sentient and has created a form for itself. We've named it the Synarcana. There's a better than good chance that the creature is part of Miragul 'imself, and possibly the force that keeps the menagerie alive. We are in desperate need o' your help to control the growing strength o' this presence. Are ye [interested]?'

You say, 'I'm interested'

Trelsa McKindle says 'Aye, that's the spirit, _____. The Wayfarer's Brotherhood is counting on ye. Beware the Synarcana!'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.

The entrance is the shimmering portal in the tower.

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Miragul's Menagerie: Folly of Miragul's Ambition.

Most, if not all, mobs see invisibility. Nothing sees SOS.

This raid will need a rogue with SOS or an FD class with AAs to keep spells from interrupting FD.

There is a time limit of 3 hours from the point you receive the task to get everything done: You'll be given warnings about this.

Note: During this raid, an Extraplanar Fiend can spawn if you aren't continually on the move. You will get a total of three warning messages prior to him spawning, which happens one minute after the first message.

The air is filled with the sounds of crackling electricity and scent of burnt copper. Blue and white sparks spew from a shimmering crease in the floor that grows larger by the second. A rift to another plane of existence is opening.

The crease in the floor glows brightly and stretches wider. An ominous other-worldly voice whispers, "I have found you . . ."

Clawed hands reach through a shimmering portal in the floor and grasp ahold of the marble. A gargantuan fiend climbs into the room and spreads his crimson wings.

If he is about to spawn, move ahead/back if you can since he has a short aggro range and despawns quickly. It casts "Flames of the Fiend" and AE rampages.

On entering the second room, an ice goblin named Glim will spawn and lead you on. When you get close to him, he will run off and wait next to a hallway. Clear up to him.

DO NOT GO IN THE HALL. The mobs in the hall cannot be killed (at 80% health they respawn at full). These mobs do about the dmg of a named, only this hall is packed with them. This is where your FD/rogue comes in. This player needs to get down the hall (while dealing with traps) to a mob named "a Jeweled Sentinel". This mob is easier than normal mobs, and is alone in his room. Either pickpockets, or kill him. He drops 5x "Phasing Ruby". You need two. They are lore and temporary. Give two of them to Glim to despawn the unkillable mobs in the hall. Clear up to where Glim goes next.

From here, head south into the library where an echo of the main named spawns (The Synarcana). It has ~130,000 hps and is fairly weak. Again, clear up to Glim.

Your raid will now need to split into two groups: One to head north; one to head south:

Northern Group: This group must keep one Skeleton mob down at all times. This is imperative. You will not win unless this is done. (This is doable with an 80th level monk and a cleric.) Six skeletons spawn at a time. They are perma-rooted. The named in the room respawns often (Kiszchen the Mischief). Unless you can do a good 400k dmg in a matter of seconds, don't bother with him.

Southern Group: This group clears to the main chamber down the hall while the other group gets set up and starts killing skeletons. The named (The Synarcana) does not take damage, except from damage shields, while all six skeletons are up (no spells, no melee). Once it is engaged, it will spawn adds. These are worthwhile to kill as they damage the named. Named adds do 20% dmg to the named, and more than one named can be up at a time as long as you have 4+ people in her room.

Known raid loot from this event (Two items per chest, can receive duplicates from the same chest):

The Tormentor`s Frozen Table

Ranger soloed this today. The mechanic is a bit different than described here.
Synarcana only takes damage from killing the named adds.
While 6 skeletons are up, Synarcana will regen to 100% immediately.
I saw two adds up at one time while solo.
Kiszchen the Mischief doesn't respawn very fast.

Strategy:
Kill 1 skeleton in the North, Run kill named in the South.
Rinse and Repeat, you have about 15 seconds or so to make the trip from the North to the South then back North.
A few times I had to head back North without a named in the South.
As long as you don't have six skeletons up, Synarcana won't regen.

I received more than two items in each chest:

The Tormentor`s Frozen Table
Synarcana's Jewel of Timeless Alacrity
Icy Orb of Frozen Time x2
Vambraces of Fractured Bone
Glob of Slush Water
Stunted Artic Root

Miragul`s Enchanted Table
Enchanted Crystal of the Synarcana x2
Frost-Covered Rock of Prowess
Shard of Enchanted Visions
Glob of Slush Water
Stunted Artic Root

The Frosty Jeweled Table
Enchanted Jewel of Shielding x4

Got the Jeweled Sentinel's Broken Aura I wanted first try, thankfully since this raid is a bit of a challenge to solo. I had to tri-box it. I used a rogue to sneak past the unkillable skells and then a warrior to keep the individual skells down while my druid fought the boss.

Trying to think how any class could truly solo this raid. A FD class or rogue could get past the skells. But then you need a pet class to be able to essentially fight in two well-separated locations at the same time. A mage could do it but I don't see the mage having any way to manage the first part. A shadowknight would have the best shot. The trick would be keeping the pet targeted on keeping a skell down at all times since that annoying named would keep coming up on the target. I'll have try this with my SK and report back.

Decently powerful beastlord could handle it solo. The 'unkillable' skeletons aren't actually unkillable with enough DPS. For the last couple fights, send the pet after the Synarcana and walk back to the skeleton room. Kill the skeletons while your pet works over the boss.

Two boxing as a ranger (108) and freebie mage (93) is simple enough, but I do have to have the mage pet kill off the fiends to do it in a reasonable amount of time. I've considered trading places and seeing if the mage pet can kill off the skeletons fast and reliably enough to keep the Synarcana from recovering, but it's not challenging enough to be concerned, and pet killing the boss works well enough.

Finding the chest?

I and a Ranger friend are doing this raid for Jeweled Sentinel's Broken Aura. We completed the raid but had a hard time finding the chest after the raid was over. Does it spawn in different locations each time the raid is successfully completed?

Here's how I do this with 2 chars (mag/brd) :

Zone in, clear to Glim, hail etc. Clear more trash until you get to the second point where you have to talk to Glim again. Bard trains through the hallway and kills sentinel. Loot ruby, CoH back to Glim, repeat.

More trash, burn down fake Synarcana, then at 3rd Glim encounter kill the 4 dervs in north hallway. Then take care of south passage leading to real Syncarcana.

At this point I split up and run Mage back to north (Holgresh/skelly) spot. Kiszchen the Mischief is KoS but not social with the skeletons. Mage can safely sit in the hallway out of LoS and queue up skeletons for pet to take care of.

Bard stays at Synarcana and initiates event. At 86 wearing a mix of UF/HoT T1 junk (5k/38k unbuffed) he can do that event with just aura/pulse/grubers for heals. I've had 3 named spawn within seconds of each other with just the one char in Synarcana's room.

Took 18 attempts to get the 2h Aug to drop:

Jeweled Sentinel's Broken Aura - None
Frozen Gloves of the Feral Lord - None
Frost-Covered Rock of Prowess - One
Vambraces of Fractured Bone - One
Everything else - More times than I wish to remember.

Update: 20 runs and got a second 2H aug. Still have yet to see the slot3 atk/regen aug or bst gloves drop.

Thanks to the previous posters for the write-ups.

It took me about 15 expeditions to get my jeweled sentinels broken aura. I enjoy camping and hunting for these LDoN type 3 HP/ATK augs.

Trelsa McKindle says 'Aye, that's the spirit, Xxale. The Wayfarer's Brotherhood is counting on ye. Beware the Synarcana!'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.

You have entered Miragul's Menagerie: Folly of Miragul's Ambition.
(this will be the shimmering portal in the tower)

Most, if not all mobs see invisibility. Nothing we encountered saw SoS.

Average NPC (non-named) dps was 276. Our tank (4,944 ac unbuffed) took a min hit of 195, a max hit of 3084, with the majority of the hits doing 777 dmg.

This mission will need a rogue with SoS or FD class with AA to keep spells from interrupting FD.

On entering the second room, an ice goblin named Glim(mob not in database) will pop and lead you on. When you get close to him, he will run off and wait next to a hallway. Clear up to him.

DO NOT GO IN THE HALL. The mobs in the hall cannot be killed, at 80% dmg they re-spawn at full health. These mobs do about the dmg of a named, only the hall is packed with them. This is where your FD/rogue comes in. This player needs to get down the hall (traps cast to interrupt FD, they didn't mess with rogue hide) to a mob named "a Jeweled Sentinel"(this mob is not in the database anywhere). His is MUCH easier than normal mobs, and is alone in his room. Either pick pockets, or kill him. He drops a Phasing Ruby (he dropped 5 for us). You need two. They are lore and temp. Give two to the Glim and he will de-spawn the uber mobs, and normal ones will spawn in normal places. Clear up to where he stops again.

From here you will need to go south into the library where an echo of the main named spawns (The Synarcana, 74-73lvl). Don't be fooled. I parced about 130k hp, 120dps on our tank. Shes easy. Just beat the living crud out of her, and move on. Again, clear up to Glim.

Here it gets tricky. Your raid will need to split into two groups of people. One goes north, the rest goes south:

Northern Group: This group must keep one Skeleton mob down at all times. This is imperative. You will not win unless this is done. We had an 80 monk with a cleric do the job, was a little slow. 6 skellys spawn at a time, they are perma-rooted. The named in the room repawns often(Kiszchen the Mischief, not in database, level 74-73). Unless you can do a good 400k dmg in 3 seconds, don't bother with him at all.

Southern Group: this group clears to the main chamber down the hall while the other group gets set up and starts killing skellies. The named (The Synarcana) cannot take damage except from DS while all 6 skellies are up. No spells. No melee. Once it is engaged, it will spawn adds. These are worthwhile to kill as they damage the named. Named adds do 20% dmg to the named, and more than 1 named can be up at a time (we had 3, thats 60% dmg right there!) as long as you have 4+ people in her room.

There is a time limit of 3 hours to get everything done, it will give you warnings.

We did not finish (thus discovering the time limit), we were about 10 minutes short.

Please update quest.

Raid name: " Folly of Miragul's Ambition " aka Synarcana
Zone: Miragul's Menagerie: Folly of Miragul's Ambition
Given by Trelsa McKindle

All mobs are light blue to a level 75, except Synarcana who is dark blue. After you clear the trash from the room after the entry room, a goblin name Glim will show up to guide you and give hints about the expedition.

During the mission, an Extraplanar Fiend can spawn if you aren’t continually on the move. You will get a total of 3 warning messages prior to him spawning, which happens one minute after the first message. The three messages are:

1. The air is filled with the sounds of crackling electricity and scent of burnt copper. Blue and white sparks spew from a shimmering crease in the floor that grows larger by the second. A rift to another plane of existence is opening.

2. The crease in the floor glows brightly and stretches wider. An ominous other-worldly voice whispers, “I have found you . . .”

3. Clawed hands reach through a shimmering portal in the floor and grasp ahold of the marble. A gargantuan fiend climbs into the room and spreads his crimson wings.

If he is about to spawn, move ahead/back if you can since he has a short agro range and despawns quickly. Fiends cast Flames of the Fiend and can AE rampage.

The first real obstacle here is the hall with 3k hitting skeletons. You will find Glim standing off to the side and waiting for you to deliver him two rubies. To get the rubies he asks for, you can either send in a Rogue to pickpocket them or have a character make it through the hall, kill the sentinel and loot the rubies. There are traps along the way, and the ruby is lore. Turning in two rubies will despawn the skeletons and allow you to progress. As you wait in the room before the hall, an ooze can spawn instead of a Fiend; similar stats though.

Again clear trash until you get to the second obstacle, which is the Fake Synarcana. She will spawn adds and go inactive periodically. Burn her down until she is inactive/dead, kill the adds and re-engage Synarcana when she becomes active. Repeat until she is dead.

The final event might take a few runs to get down. There is a room to the north with six skeletons, who respawn quickly, and a Holgresh named Kiszchen the Mischief. The Holgresh regenerates when he resets, which he does every few seconds. So don’t bother trying to kill him. The idea is to have a skeleton dead at all times. If all six are up, Synarcana will regenerate to 100%. Neither the skeletons, nor the monkey do much damage, however, the monkey can cast Time Warp which will make the job of keeping a skeleton down, at all times, harder. Be sure to have enough DPS in this room.

The real Synarcana is perma-rooted, summons, casts Aura of the Synarcana, is invulnerable to melee and seemingly immune to spells. She can take damage from damage shields, but that is probably a slow way to win. Merely being in Synarcana’s room will allow four mobs to spawn. I have heard a rumor that having 4 or more people in Synarcana’s room allows two named to be up at once, while under four people only allows one named; I have yet to verify. Every so often you get a named Demon (Big red fiend) to spawn, who drops Synarcana's life by ~20% when killed. By making sure a skeleton is down at all times, it is a simple matter of killing the adds in Synaracana’s room until a named spawns. Kill the named and repeat until she is dead.

All max hit is based off a Warrior with 35 shielding and 3400 AC ( buffed ). Your milage may vary.

Fake Synarcana - Max hit of 1174, Approx hitpoints of ~200k
Skeleton ( final event ) - Max hit of 934, Approx hitpoints of ~32k
Extraplanar Fiend - Max hit of 1754, Approx hitpoints of ~200k
Demons in last room - Max hit of 1069, Approx hitpoints of ~50k

Additional loot to be listed:

Frost-Covered Rock of Prowess

Will add dialogues soon.

If you are looking for the Frosty Gem of Enhanced Protection ( 35 AC aug, plate only ), the raid you want is "Frozen Nightmare". Synaracana does NOT drop it.

Also, this raid can be done with a single group and all LDoN raids only require 6 people to request the raid.

Is it possible to group this raid yet?

If so, does this raid(mission) require full raid to do or can it be gotten with group of 6 now?

AC aug. Any info on if a quest needs to be done or if this Raid no longer exists would be great.
Don't Overthink!

my only clue to the skeltons is: Don't overthink this event. Its not nearly as complicated as modern content!
What the encounter is like....
# Jul 24 2006 at 8:39 PM Rating: Default
You follow a gnome through the caverns, killing easy trash mobs. Then he stops at a corridor FULL of mobs that quad for 4k and that respawn at their bind point at full health if you get them down to about 96% health. You chat with the gnome and he says talk to the sentinel. You send a rogue in using shroud of stealth and he pickpockets stuff to get a special ruby. Hand the ruby to the gnome and he says great this should work, I need one more. Sneak back and find another ruby, hand it in, and the gnome despawns the nasty 4k hitting mobs. Says the magic protecting the loot has weakened.

Continue clearing in and you get to a spot where the gnome says go north and kill the boss. Go in and kill the guy who phases in and out of existence. Attack him when he's in phase, kill adds when he's not in phase or if ya got extra people. Eventually kill him and get another emote saying the magic protecting the treasure has weakened.

Continue clearing trash in to the end, gnome stops and ya talk to him, he says go left and kill skellys in the room to weaken the named in the room on the right.

There's a room with a guy named somethinorother Mischief, he respawns full health if ya fight him much. Six or so skellys around the outside of hte room respawn almost instantly, there are several types of skellys. Killing them seems to spawn a mob in the other room.

In the other room, there's a named in the middle. He regens a decent amount and ya can't really beat him down with regular damage, but if you can get a named demon guy to spawn and kill the demon guy, it takes 20% off the life of the boss. We've seen two demons at once and got him down to 60% by killing both.. but then can't make progress and about 5 min later he regens to full.

So... currently unanswered questions about this event...

How do you get the named demon guys to spawn? What's the trick with the different names of the skeletons? Do you kill Mischief guy somehow? How long do you need to kill skellys? Do you have to get 5 or 6 named demon guys up at once to kill the big boss?
