This group monster mission begins with a wandering zombie at location +403 +1456 in the Commonlands.

You say, 'Hail, a wandering zombie'

a wandering zombie appears to be lost. She gazes at you with a distant look in her hollow eyes and points southeast, toward the entrance to [Befallen].

You say, 'What about Befallen?'

a wandering zombie nods emphatically and continues to stare. Within her eyes you glimpse movement. Looking deeper still, you see flashing images of a young Teir`dal and his cohorts mercilessly slaughtering the inhabitants of a crumbling temple. It is difficult to look away. You feel compelled to [continue] watching the strange images.

You say, 'Continue.'

The images sharpen and the Teir`dal is obviously none other than Kizdean Gix. He is leading a group of those who call themselves The Dead as they lay claim to the temple. The scene playing out before you begins to take over your senses. Within moments you feel as if you will actually be [transported] to that time and place.

You have been assigned the task 'The Dead's Claim.'

The Koada'dal elves have abandoned their outpost and fled the continent, tails tucked firmly between their pasty legs. This is no time for celebration, however. At least not yet. It is our goal, nay, our very right to claim the outpost in the name of The Dead. The place has become overrun with vermin and squatters, who must be eliminated. Kizdean Gix, take your assistant Hubard L`Rodd and see to it that nothing survives. If it breathes, it is of no use to The Dead. Should the unthinkable occur and either Teir`dal be slain during your foray, I will personally raise you from the grave so I can kill you myself. Do not fail me.

Pick monsters: Someone must play Kizdean Gix and his assistant Hubard L`Rodd, neither of whom may die during the mission (if they do, you fail). Gizdean is a shadowknight, while Hubard is a warrior. All templates are level 19. You may also play a ghoulish magus (ability to summon a shadow minion, a level 20-21 air pet, a fire rain AE nuke, and a damage shield), a cleric (HP buff Daring and a heal (possibly 2 heals)), and up to 2 shaman, with a heal, DoT, and slow.

When ready to zone in, say "transported" to the wandering zombie.

You say, 'Transported?'

Reality shifts . . .
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Befallen: The Dead's Claim.

Note the wandering zombie also appears in the instance at the zone-in. She will port you out of the instance any time.

You say, 'Hail, a wandering zombie'

a wandering zombie stares deep into your eyes. You see the lush rolling hills of the Commonlands, and [remember] your previous life.

Supply mining picks to the aimless piles of bones - Befallen

The items you need are Mining Picks. Hand one to each of the four "pile of bones" near the entrance. These are in the same location as the skeletons with picks in the non-instanced version.

Convert the vermin - Befallen

You need to kill 15 rats for this step. Once they are dead, they will respawn as the undead rats from the non-instanced zone.

Fend off the Squatters - Befallen

You need to kill 10 of Cutthroat Squatters. These drop the mining picks needed for the first stage.

Deal with the elven contingent - Befallen

Kill the Elvish Warriors, Clerics, Magicians and Enchanters.

Deal with Commander Windstream - Befallen

Commander Windstream (yellow to 19) spawns with two of "an elite guard" (level 19) after you kill the fifth elf. Kill him.

Your task 'The Dead's Claim' has been updated.

Investigate the strange sounds coming from the well - Befallen

At least one person must enter the room at the bottom of the well.

Your task 'The Dead's Claim' has been updated.

The Koada'dal elves were no match for the might of Kizdean Gix and his cadre of undead. The outpost now belongs to its rightful owners, and it will be known forever more as 'Befallen'.

Loot includes Timeworn Platinum Ring (common) and Timeworn Beerstein (rare).

Timeworn Platinum Ring transmutes to: ???? (level 1-10), ???? (level 11-20), Mottled Platinum Ring (level 21-30), Dull Platinum Ring (level 31-40), Polished Platinum Ring (level 41-50), Gleaming Platinum Ring (level 51-60), Gynok's Platinum Ring (level 61-70).

Timeworn Beerstein transmutes to: ???? (level 1-10), ???? (level 11-20), ???? (level 21-30), ???? (level 31-40), ???? (level 41-50), Stained Beerstein (level 51-60), Befallen Beerstein (level 61-70).

just completed this for the first time on 8/14/2008 and hads alot of fun but...

i 4boxed it, the mission was rather easy the only difficulties being the high elf enchanters can be annoying with their mez and the final fight was fun but not terribly hard. returned to the entrance and looted the platinum timeworn ring from the chest and 1 wisdom gems with each character. said to the zombie "remember" with each character to zone out but my group leader repeatedly respawned at the zone in INSIDE the befallen instanced zone. on the fourth try he finnaly zoned out with everyone else yet he did not recieve exp and the ring is not in his inventory. how disapointing. =(

just a heads up of a bug in this MM, will try it again tommorow and hopfully this wont be repeated.

/edit as other posters have stated, use the mage! the bolt-DD does extremely good damage for the level of this mission! somthing like 30% of any mobs life total in one hit.

did the quest again today. 8/14/2008.

once again quest went down with no issues and was successfull. looted chest at the end and said to the zombie wanderer "remember" with one character at a time.

this time not only was group leader stripped of his item and shard of wisdom(no exp reward!) but another character also was stripped of her shard of wisdom.

fare warning to any doing this fun but DEFINATELY buggy quest.

/edit did a petition after the second time i lost the ring on trying to zone out. overnight i guess a gm reembursed me (no reply email/message/anything) as the next day on login i had a "Gynok's Platinum Ring" in my inventory. now i looted a timeworn ring twice but seems they have the exact same stats so doesnt matter, just weird gettting different item. =)

12 May 2007:

Three boxed this twice tonight. Failed on the final fight the first time. Was useing the shaman(mummy). Tried it a second time. Used the mage. Won. There is just not enough DPS without the mage. You dont need heals if you burn them down fast enough.

It wasn't easy and took probably 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. I am not sure exactly because I took some breaks during the mission. I could probably get it down to an hour. Its going to depend on how lucky you get with the pick drops. I had bad luck the second time, had to kill a lot more mobs. I am not confident that I could do this as a 3 box with 100% success rate. Would be an easy 4 man MM. If you fail this as a 4 man MM you are just not trying.

Recieved around 33 % exp on my 42 warrior.

Stats for the item recieved on my 42 warrior.

Polished Platinum Ring
AC 10
6 Str 6 Dex 6 Sta 6 Agi 45 hps 35 mana 35 end
6 SV disease 6 SV magic 6 SV poison

Hope this post helped you

I was looking to do this MM yesterday, but I was not able to find the mob. Did she move or was this quest taken down? Or am I just blind and should hire a ranger to help me find her :)
Doing it with Three

Did a run of this one with three characters – a cleric and the two mandatory characters, Kizdean Gix and Hubard L ’Rodd. With three it took about an hour and 45 minutes.

Commander Windstream and the two elite guards spawned in the same place on both runs. Looking at the EQAtlas map (third level), they spawned in the corridor just north of the secret door located between rooms ‘4’ and ‘5.’ If you jump down the well, just clear to the large room and they will be at the end of the corridor heading south from it. They do not come running at you after you kill the fifth elf – they are stationary at their spawn spot. So if you are careful to pull the elves away from their spawn spot when you are fighting, you shouldn’t need to worry about them.

Pet pull is your friend for the last fight. Have Kizdean Gix send his skelly pet in and he can pull each of the elite guards one at a time – no adds. Three on Commander Windstream with no guards, and he is a piece of cake. Didn’t think of trying to pet-pull the rats with the skelly to see if I could pull them single. If so, could speed it using a shammy as the third character with his DoT and debuff.

Drop was the ring, making my SK very happy.

Note that per the following thread:

http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/...sage.id=280532

it looks like pet-pulling will nolonger work after the 18 September patch. That may make this impossible for three to do.

A few more notes

We did this with 4 the other night. I won't repeat what is posted already, but here are a few additional notes:

There is no respawn of the zone. Once you kill a mob it either turns into a plague rat or a skeleton. Don't kill them.

You are required to play Kizdean (SK) and Hubard (War). Have Hubard as the MA since he seemed to have better aggro control, plus if Kizdean dies, you lose.

Our third and fourth members were a cleric and a shaman (me). The cleric had a nice heal, daring, root, and a nuke. The shaman had Affliction (DoT), Disempower (debuff), a slow spell, and a 171 hit point heal. There were no AA's to buy, simply make the hotkeys.

The four of us could handle up to three mobs at a time. The shaman DoT actually did fairly significant damage at 20 points a tick. The health of the mobs dropped 2% most of the time each tick. Have the cleric root the adds off to the side and have the shaman start running dots on all of them. Disempower seemed to work better then the slow: less aggro, plus the debuff really seemed to reduce their melee ability while also making it easier to hit them. Most of the time I didn't bother to slow, unless we had 3 attacking us.

There are plenty of rats in the zone. Don't worry about hunting them down like we did at first, because you will find plenty while trying to find the cutthroats. The cutthroats are more scarce, but still aren't that bad, considering. Mining picks are completely random off of the cutthroats. We had none drop on our first 8 killed, then 4 picks off the next 7 mobs.

When you are ready to start killing the elves, jump down the well and start killing the elves down there. This will save you time later, since you will have to kill them to get out.

After we killed the 5th elf we got a zone-wide shout by the Commander. We finished off a 6th elf and still had a cutthroat to go (a 3 pull and the first dead was our 5th elf, go figure), when the Commander and his two elite guards came and attacked us. Things were interesting for a while. Fortunately the cleric was able to park 3 of them off to the side while we started on the commander. I suspect the Commander is a paladin, since he was able to heal himself to a small extent, but nothing like a complete heal. I am not sure if he comes to you, or if we were lucky enough to be by his spawn point (I suspect he comes to you). I have never been in Befallen before, so I am not sure where we were on the map.

We managed to kill him, and the rest, and finally got the last task.

The final task is (not an exact quote, but very close): "check the noise coming out of the well". Basically jump in the well to complete the mission. You then have to run back to where you zoned in, and there is the chest. Hail the wandering zombie there and say his key word, and zone back out.

Our loot was the beerstein.

It took us a little over an hour and a half to complete. Now that we know what we are doing, the four of us could cut it down by at least 15 minutes. With a 5th and 6th, I would guess 45 minutes to an hour depending on the drop rate of the mining picks.

All in all, a rather fun MM with two nice items as potential loot.

AAXP was just under a full AA.
