    Find Dimwicket Middifoodle in the Southern Desert of Ro at location +2483, -2661.

    You say, 'Hail, Dimbwicket Middifoodle'

    Dimbwicket Middifoodle says 'No, No, No! I don't have time to sit here and chat with you _____! I've come here to help the city of Freeport but I can't get to the city! Do the people of Freeport not realize the [caiman problem] that they have around here? '

    You say, 'What caiman problem?'

    Dimbwicket Middifoodle says 'What caiman problem? Look up the beach and tell me that you don't see a caiman problem! Enough of this chatting Murril. Can you help [clear the beach] of this problem so that I can make it to Freeport safely?'

    You say, 'I will help you clear the beach'

    You have been assigned the task 'The Great Caiman Issue'.

    Dimbwicket Middifoodle says 'Get to it _____ and come back and let me know when it's clear!'

    Dimbwicket Middifoodle says 'Thank you very much but I need to be going now!'

    20 faction to The Freeport Militia

    This quest gives 20 faction to The Freeport Militia.
    Note for Rebby and The Frikniller Family give only 1 faction to The Freeport Militia each. So this quest goes much faster.
    At level 80 the XP is only about 1 percent of an AA... which is more than I expected; it's no doubt very good XP at low levels.

    Starting at Max Knights of Truth, max Militia KOS. Will count the number of quests to get to max ally Militia.

    -sidenote, once Razortooth (NPC, un-engageable) chases Dimbwicket off, he runs to North end of beach (N.Ro ZL), then both depop. Dimbwicket instantly repops back at spawn at this point. (est ~2-3min run).

    I'd helped a paladin friend kill Lucan and after doing this quest 110 times I have reached dubious to the Militia as an Iksar Monk. Of all the factions affected by this quest, I am not currently maxed with Steel Warriors, Militia, and the Tradefolk.

    Edit: 162 times and Militia is kindly. Others maxed somewhere around 130.

    Edit #2: 197 times gave me the message of being unable to raise faction any higher with Militia. Close to my initial estimate of 200. =\

    Great quest for raising faction. Im a shaman and grouped with a mage, we tagged every creature on beach with pets as we rode up and down. Each kill counts to both players, so much quicker grouped. Also you can rehail the guy as the giant caiman is chasing him and use a hotkey for the last saying to get another mission. You can complete it in 3 mins but respawn will lag you.

    It took me 101 tasks to max ally in all factions, as a dark elf inny shadowknight. No prior positive or negative faction hits. 1515 caiman total.

    I've been doing this for faction alot... I still get half blue AA at 63 every time I finish it. =D

    Note that you can get the quest again as he starts getting chased by Razortooth, you can just say "I will clear the beach" again instead of waiting for him to run the path all the way to Nro.

    Being a lvl 70 paly...and just loving my soulfire's 5 ch's (max 7500 pts still?) It's necessary to ***** up my militia faction continuosly, to get a fresh copy of soulfire for its clicky heal....unless that's been nerfed too? Anyone with info pls post if killing sir lucan still maxes neg militia faction (hoping to return to game soon!)...but either way this is an excellent and quick method of going from scowl to indif....if you have the patience!

    I just tested this and it gives about +25 freeport militia faction every time you do it, and probably the same for the rest, pretty nice.

    I've done this Task at least 40 times. It takes roughly 5 mintues to complete and results in positive faction adjustments to most, if not all, Freeport factions.

    Make sure when you do this task that you kill all the gators on the beach regardless of their type. They are all placeholders of the caiman you need.

    I wouldn't be surprised if they nerfed this task since it gives such huge faction hits and is remarkably easy.

    One additional note... When you complete the task and hail Dimbwicket, a giant croc will spawn and chase him all the way to the North Ro zone line with him screaming the whole way. As soon as he reaches North Ro he despawns and then immediately respawns in his old location and you can get the quest again. You can target the croc, but cannot engage him in combat.

    I highly doubt they will nerf this quest. I think the reason they put it in is so that people with bad Freeport faction can fix it in order to do the new Freeport quests with Prophecy of Ro.

    Personally, I worry that they will nerf it, and here is why.

    1. A character right out of the tutorial will gain great exp killing the caimans... and when he hails Dimwicket again, will gain nearly an ENTIRE LEVEL of experience just for completing the quest! Crazy.

    That's: Caiman kills + quest exp = level 11 to 24 in one afternoon.

    The amount of exp does drop off over time of course, since the exp gap between the levels grows ever larger (and caimans become grey cons). At level 25 though, a character will still get nearly one yellow bubble from doing the quest once!

    2. But, I have some alts at nearly level 30 that are still happily doing this quest - they never have to leave the zone and do other things. Which is the second major reason I worry about this being nerfed - there's simply no reason to group, go to other zones, even buy spells or better gear - nothing! You can do this damn quest to your heart's content till after level 40.

    Yes, as you level you will need to do the quest more and more times to reach new levels, BUT, since you can kill the caimans faster and faster (because you're becoming a badarse) it's not as much of an exp drop-off as you would think.

    The original purpose of the quest was to get people Freeport faction so that they could go to the Academy of Arcane Science in Freeport and access Arcstone. I'm not even sure why experience was even included in the quest - it seems waay out of whack for low level characters. I always chuckle when peeps insist the best leveling for lowbies is Paludal Caverns.

    Again, just my 2 cents.

    ive done this task 5 times but im still kos to the militia. also ive done the giant leader quest once, and kill the elite task 3 times. and i was still kos after doing all those. thats from a bottomed faction level though.

    what is your faction at now?

    # Apr 20 2006 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
    If you were max KoS, and you do indeed gain +25 faction hits, then you will have to do the quest 70 times to become dubious.

    Ally = 1450 to 2500
    Warmly = 1100 to 1450
    Kindly = 750 to 1100
    Amiable = 150 to 750
    Indifferent = 0 to 150
    Apprehensive = 0 to -150
    Dubious = -150 to -750
    Threateningly = -750 to -1100
    Ready to Attack = -1100 to -2500
    RE: Task Info
    # Apr 24 2006 at 12:38 PM Rating: Good
    By using my faction spells as an enchanter, and doing quests where I had figured out the exact faction hit, I have been able to calculate the table of factions as this:

    Scowl ready to attack: -751 and below
    Threatening: -501 to -750
    Dubious: -101 to -500
    Apprehensive: -1 to -100
    Indifferent: 0 to +99
    Amiable: +100 to +399
    Kindly: +400 to +649
    Warmly +650 to +999
    Ally: 1000+

    Now if you are max kos I am not sure of how low that is exactly, but it also depends on your class, race and religion. For example, if you are a high elf cleric of tunare max KOS with the Felwithe cleric guild, bottom KOS would be roughly -2300, whereas a shadowknight iksar who follows Cazic-Thule, max kos would be more like -4750. The faction table works on a scale of roughly -2500 to +2500, then is adjusted by your race, religion, and class. So for my previous example both characters actual faction number stored on the server would read as -2500 since they are both bottomed out. The cleric would then get roughly +100 for following tunare and another +100 for being a cleric, with 0 adjustment for being a high elf. The Iksar SK on the other hand gets roughly -1000 for being an iksar and I am guessing roughly -1000 for following Cazic-Thule. I am not sure on the class adjustment for the SK, but I am guessing it would be roughly another -250. So in this case even if the iksar maxed his faction at +2500, he would still get -2250 for his race/class/religion, meaning he would never get higher than amiable even with max faction. I hope this helps some of you with faction questions.

    Edit: It appears they have changed max factions. Now as a high elf I can once again gain faction with legion of cabalis. I am up to warmly, whereas before I was apprehensive and my faction could not possibly get any better. So I would guess that you can now reach at least ally with most factions. My factions that were already maxed at ally are still maxed, so I am not sure if they made max factions higher only for those factions that previously capped below ally, or they made it so your racial/religious/class modifiers are added/subtracted to the number stored on the server, making max kos a lot easier to fix than before and allowing factions to raise higher in many cases.
