Find the Freemind Cipher at location -1500, -700 in Undershore (located in the southeast part of the zone near the waterfall). This group monster mission is offered after looting An Unhusked Mindspore from one of the mushrooms near him and eating it:

You stagger as a thousand memories come rushing into your mind, memories of a sporali's lifecycle, memories of floods and droughts, growth and death. Some memories surface so vividly that you feel as though you are being drawn into them.

A task window pops up offering four monster missions, one of which is "Defending the Grove".

You have been assigned the task 'Defending the Grove'.

Templates include: Sporali Sporemage (Wizard), Sporali Enforcer (Paladin), Sporali Tender (Cleric).

The minds of the leaders of the sporali colony have been damaged by undead shiliskin magic. You have taken over their bodies until their minds are repaired. You know that the undead shiliskin will be attacking very soon. You must not allow all the memory sporali to die. As long as one lives it will be able to pass its knowledge to others. You have at your disposal two Sporali Gardeners. You simply need to hail them to get them to follow and listen to you. If you tell them to a seed (sic), they will plant it where they stand.

The retchweed will temporalily incapacitate anyone close to it when it is touched. The firestorm spore will explode, injuring all who are caught in its blast. Each Gardener only has seven seeds, though you might be able to find more to plant, so keep them alive as well.

Hail - to get a Gardener to follow you around and listen to your commands.

Plant - tells a Gardener to plant a spore at his feet.

Stop - releases the Gardener from your command.

Keep at least one of the memory spores alive until the Undead Shiliskin attacks have stopped.

Hail Freemind Cipher to zone in.

You say, 'Hail, Freemind Cipher'

The world goes cold and black as if all light is being drained out of it...

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Sporali Caverns.

Hail the Cipher 0/1 (Sporali Caverns)

Defend the Grove from General Hamish 0/1 (Sporali Caverns)

Waves of undead will begin spawning and attacking the memory spores in the instance. Your goal is to keep at least one of the memory spores alive. (How many waves spawn?)

In the garden area of the caverns are two gardeners, a scorchstalk and retchweed. Hailing them will get them to follow you and act as pets.

You say, 'Hail, a retchweed gardener'

The strange little gardener perks up and gazes at you like a long lost pet.

(What is the last step and how do you win this monster mission?)

5 person attempt

We did our 4 hour journey with 5 people. 2 pallies 2 wizzies and 1 cleric. We fought the mobs as they came but then they kept driving us back. So we eventually retreated to 1 final sporeling and kept it from being killed. The mobs kept coming and mission never ended.

Tried the mission with a group of three and failed. Some stuff we found out:

I (as group leader) needed to eat one of the spores from the mushrooms near Freemind Cipher's feet to get the mission. No talking was required. We chose our monsters and I hailed Cipher to start the instance.

There were 3 monster types available:

Sporali Enforcer (Paladin)
Sporali Tender(Cleric)
Sporali Sporemage (Wizard)

We were approximately level 30.

When the two gardeners (retchweed and firespore) were killed, they respawned after some time. Additional retchweed and firespore spores were found; they looked like little red and blue mushrooms or pebbles, and were ground spawns. The "quest complete" noise played when the appropriate gardener was handed the spore, and I suspect that these are "ammunition" for the gardeners.

The mobs came in waves that increased both in number and in difficulty. The early waves of mobs were blue, with one mob being white. As more waves of mobs came through, the mix became blue white and yellow. When my group finally gave up, we were encountering werewolves mixed in with the shiliskin and zombies, and most mobs were white, yellow, or red.

When the mission failed, and we all were killed, we did get kicked back into Undershore, so whatever was keeping people trapped seems to be fixed.

My suggestion is to do this one with a full group, and possibly experiment to see if it can be done as a raid. If this can be done with a maximum of 6 players, I reccommend one paladin, one to two clerics, and the remainder of the team as wizards.
