This flags you to start the quest for the epic 1.5 if you do not have the Scythe of the Shadowed Soul (necromancer epic 1.0).

Find Geboron in the Plane of Knowledge at -860, +305.

You say, 'Hail, Geboron'

Geboron says 'Yes. . . ______ is it? I have heard of you. I am Geboron, assistant to Kazen. It is most fortunate for you that you happened upon me. I have a task that is of the utmost importance and I believe I can trust you with it. There has been talk recently among my brethren of a most powerful staff that was recently discovered in the realm of discord and is now in the hands of a group of paladins. However my undead servants have informed me that the paladins were transporting the staff through the Karanas and suddenly disappeared without a trace. I want you to find my contact, Yuanda in West Karana and give her this note. It says you are working for me now. Find out what happened to those paladins and the staff! If you find out anything, talk to my assistant, Egonis in Lake Rathe.'

You receive a Note to Yuanda. Take it to Yuanda in West Karana.

Yuanda reads the note. 'So you are working for Geboron? Yes I have seen the paladins and the staff they were guarding. They passed through here just one day ago. From what I have been told, they were attacked by a pack of werewolves. All of the paladins were killed and one of the werewolves took the staff. If you want the staff you will need to find these werewolves. Oh, no! Here they come now! I am getting out of here!'

Five of "a snarling werewolf spawn." Four are level 67-68, hit for 600, are mezzable but immune to melee, and summon. One is 69+, hits for 1200 (and this increases as its health drops), is unmezzable and is magic-resistant. You have 30 minutes to kill them all. Once they're all dead, the last one says...

'Your attack was in vain, fool. The staff was stolen from us by a bandit only hours ago.'

Shady Bandit spawns at about -3975, -10930, -5 (under a tree at the river, south side of the zone). Hail him and he will attack. He's level 67 or 68, hits for around 1200, has a 950 lifetap proc, and is snareable. Once he's dead, loot a Contract of Sale. Take this to Egonis in Lake Rathetear at +2455, -655.

Egonis says 'So the foolish brigand sold the staff to Ronaiar, eh? Who is Ronaiar? He is an insane necromancer that makes his home somewhere near the lake. I had a feeling he would try to get his hands on the staff. That is why I came out here. I must inform Kazen of this turn of events and you must destroy that decrepit fool, Ronaiar. If you find the staff, give it to Geboron.'

Go to the aviak island to find Ronaiar Skullmoore at +2695, +1005.

You say, 'Hail, Ronaiar Skullmoore'

Ronaiar Skullmoore says 'So you have come to stop me?' Ronaiar throws a magnificent, yet evil looking staff into the water. 'The precious staff you seek is now lost in the lake for all eternity!'

He attacks. He's level 68, hits for around 1000, and dies rather quickly to a single group. The corpse is empty, but in the water near where he died, you'll find a goblin named Worboli at +3000, +1005, -227.

You say, 'Hail, Worboli'

Worboli says 'Yes, yes, looking for the staff are yous? We can tell. We does see a staff but yous must [do somethings] for us first, yes?'

Hail Worboli again.

You say, 'I will do somethings.'

Worboli says 'The gnolls tooks something that was mines. They tooks my fish. It was nice and rotten, yes it was. Yous finds my rotten fish and maybe we can tell about the staff.'

Now a Gnoll Scavenger (level 68) will spawn on the aviak island at +2260, +950, -16. It hits for 1100 and rampages, but should be doable by a single group. You loot a Rotten Fish.

When you go to give the fish to Worboli, he's not there. In his place is a Man-Eating Freshwater Shark, which hits for 800 at the beginning and up to 1200 near death. Once it's dead, loot a Piece of the Staff.

Head back to the Plane of Knowledge and give this to Geboron.

Geboron says 'I ask you to find a staff of great power and you bring me this??! A piece of the staff? You are an incompetent fool! Take this trash back and give it to Kazen so that he may punish you as he sees fit! Begone!'

Kazen Fecae may be found at +350, -1550 near Lake Rathetear. Give him the Piece of the Staff.

Kazen Fecae says 'Geboron has told me that you would be giving this piece of the staff to me. Do not fear. While I am not angry with you for failing to bring me the staff, I am not thoroughly pleased either. However, this piece could hold the key to discovering the staff's whereabouts. I wish to research this staff piece but first I need some special research tools. Take this note and travel to Steamfont. Find a gnome named Biddliss Sperandu and give him the note. When you obtain the research tools hand them to me.'

You receive a Note to Biddliss. Congratulations, you have completed the pre-quest.

I just did this in about 45 minutes with a good group, we're all level 75. Hail Geboron in the GM Necromancer house near the Neriak stone in PoK. He gives you the note to Yuanda.

Yuanda is a Dark Elf in West Karana in the top of the zone, in the mountains, loc p1331, n12569. Giving her the note immediately spawns the 5 Snarling Werewolves. We had a chanter mezz them all, the one that didnt mezz was the one you take first. Pick them off, save your mana. 30 minutes was plenty of time for us to kill them. Corpses are empty. After killing the 5th werewolf, we saw a Shady Bandit on track, bottom of the zone, just below the bandit camp, and under a tree, loc n2920, n11080. He's a wussy. Hail to attacka nd watch him die. He drops the Contract of Sale.

We brought that to Egonis in Lake Rathe. He's not in the corner by Kazen, he's on the Aviak Island at p2455, n655.

Hail him and he spawns the Ronnaiar Skullmoore and pet at p2965, p1005. Ronaiar dies, and you must seek out Worboli at p300, p1005, n227, which means he's at the bottom of the lake. Swim down. Hail him, [i will do somethings] and the Gnoll Scavenger spawns back at the shore. Loot the Rotten Fish, return it to Worboli. Worboli will depsawn, allowing the Shark to spawn back at the shore. The Shark drop a Piece of the Staff.

Return it to Geboron in PoK. He'll give it back to you and send you to Kazen in Lake Rathe. Give him teh Piece of the Staff and he'll give you the Note to Biddliss. Get on with your epic 1.5!

Are them mezzable or not ?
# Apr 13 2007 at 1:24 PM Rating: Default
I went and did this with a young necro. He assured us all that the 4 were mezzable as it states here but when we got our chanter said none could be mezed? Was our chanter wrong, freaked, cause we got nothing accomplished. They did all con light blue but one taht was a higher con. I was 75.
Also if they are immune to mele cant be rooted or snared and must be dead in 30 minutes, your gonna need some big artillery. Suggest 3 or 4 of them, and play ping pong with the mob. Cant be snared so its gonna be a fast game.
Are them mezzable or not ?

Hi all . I was hitting brick wall at this fight. Everyone said it could not be done. After our first 3 failed attempts it was looking like my necro would be epic less for some time more. So another necro needed a go at it. We gathered at the spot but Safe distance back this time. So as not to get inta agro. When we did this made this event easy. We sat talked and decided to do a two fingered stratagie. Reading hear some said could be mezzed all but highest lvl mob. So we all took a man on man defence posture. If the chanter area mez did not work that was our fall back. The chanter area mez, mezed 3 of 5 mobs we beat down the to unmezed . Off tanked one not attempting to remeze the free extra . Worked like a charm. Slow fight, as mele are like babys but once the first two were down the others were mere pup's . Just have your chanter keep them mezed that did mez. Did the remainders one at a time, till they dead no bard no running no problem Grats for all posts here and good luck on yours. : )
epic 1.5 prequest
# Jan 04 2007 at 7:01 PM Rating: Decent
Hello all, was wondering if the 1.5 epic prequest is mostly or all soloable for a 70 nec with basic groupable gear, etc. or which parts are or are not.

Thanks
epic 1.5 prequest

First fight is definately not soloable by a lvl 70 necro, due to time constraint from start to finish of the fight. After that, I do not see why the rext of the prequest could not be done by a necro going solo.

Level to start

I was able to hail Geboron and receive the note at level 59. I have started my epic 1.0 and am up to the Planar drops only. Not sure if starting the 1.0 might affect what level you can hail Geboron or not. I hope this info helps someone.
Some things I noticed
# Jul 03 2006 at 12:46 AM Rating: Decent
I noticed a few things while doing this just now. First off Ronaiar Skullmoore rampaged on my group while fighting him. Single target ramp anyways. Secondly Worboli stays up until you turn in the fish. This however doesn't spawn the shark, the shark is up when the Gnoll Scavenger dies. We killed the shark and then I turned in the fish just to be safe. Turning in the fish does despawn Worboli but I doubt it really matters because at that point I had the piece of the staff off the shark.

My guild was in for a pleasant surprise. While dealing with the Werewolf, things went south and we had to zone. Came back in and it was not regenerating health at all. This gives you a bit of leeway on an otherwise tough fight (for a small force).

Did the werewolves twice yesterday, the exact name for all five is A Snarling Werewolf the 4 smaller ones are mezzable, and we only had to kill the bigest one to continue in the quest, he was level 69 both times we did him, he is immune to meelie and resistent to spells, however all my fire DOTS as well as my DD lifetap landed, he resisted everything else I threw at him.

The shady bandit is located almost directly south of the werewolf spawn, at the edge of the water, under a shade tree, he can be targeted but cannot be attacked untill the necro hails him.
