/loc of Abigail? Minimum faction requirements for quest?

You say, 'Hail, Abigail'

Abigail says 'Greetings! I am the holder of the secret of the [Breastplate of Ro]. You may rest here. You are quite safe within this camp of paladins.'

You say, 'What Breastplate of Ro?'

Abigail says 'The Breastplate of Ro mold will be awarded to you. First, you will perform a test of strength. Go to Faydwer. There you shall seek out and destroy the Teir'Dal who carry the dark cauldrons!! They have been venturing into our lands and capturing many Koada'Dal and Fier'Dal for cooking purposes! Bring to me two of their dark cauldrons.'

The Dark Cauldron drops from "an ancille cook." Hand in two:

Abigail says 'I instructed you to return with no less than two dark pots.'
Abigail says 'You have earned the mold. You will now need go and speak with Thomas about [Lord Searfire].'
Your faction standing with Clerics of Tunare got better.
Your faction standing with King Tearis Thex got better.
Your faction standing with Anti-Mage got better.
You gain experience!!

You receive a Mold of Ro Breastplate.

/loc of Thomas?

You say, 'Hail, Thomas'

Thomas says 'Welcome to our camp. We are paladins gathered from many lands. We have been called to this land by our deities. Ours is a crusade of righteousness. Have you happened upon us by chance or do you [seek the sacred molds]?'

You say, 'Who is Lord Searfire?'

Thomas says 'Lord Searfire is a great forge master. He was called forth to the land of fire lakes. It is said that he now toils in the name of Solusek Ro within a hidden temple of that land. He and he alone knows how to obtain [ronium], a needed component for forging the sacred Armor of Ro.'

You say, 'What is ronium?'

Thomas says 'It is an alloy created from two rare metals. Only [Lord Searfire] knows the formula.'

Once you get the mold for an item, you need to talk to Lord Searfire, the Dwarven Smith in The Temple of Solusek Ro. He must consider you amiably (with which faction?) before he will deal with you. He will then give you the Sol Cauldron and tell you how to do the next step, which is acquiring the ingredients to make the metal ronium. These are: Melatite (Dropped by MB and MC Clockworks in Solusek's Eye. You can also sometimes buy them from the Gnomes in Solusek's Eye since many players sell them if they find them), Two Bars of Enchanted Platinum, Mistmoore Granite (from Gargoyles in Mistmoore), the Sands of Ro (from sand giants) and Soil of Underfoot (Get from Priestess Ghalea in the Kaladim cleric's guild for 4 fairy dusts [need at least amiable faction for this]). Put them in the cauldron and hit the combine button and you will get a bar of ronium. You do not need the blacksmithing skill to combine these.

Once you get the ronium, you need to combine it with the mold in a forge to make your item. Any regular forge will do (don't use the race forges). You no longer need the blacksmithing skill for this.

This is 5 years after the initial comment was made, but in case someone new to the game is reading these threads... The armor you get in tutorial is better than most of the original SolRo temple armor. With TSS there are progressive armor quests for levels 1, 20, 45, and two teirs of 70 (that I can think of off hand). These quests are easier (since you can use the quest/task functionality) and yield far better armor. This quest is just a memory now.

What is so hard about this quest I mean come on.First I did it with a lvl 34-36 Pally and a minimal of help the most of which came on a guild raid to mistmoor. As for the rest a little halp with healing and buffs while I tanked. Got all the parts neede for the molds. Sol a is by far not the hardest place to aquire stuff at all plus all the bonus goodies ya get to sell to help with the cost of the plat bars. Enchanting them only trequires an eanchanter. So please If ya can't handle it don't do it otherwise just enjoy yourself and stop cryin about how tough it is. And by the way good or not if you require something kill it. Killin Fairies only hurts your faction with the fairies .And Bone chips are cheap enough to buy with minimal cost.Which by the way will help your faction with 3 out of 5 of the pally's\

I just got the last piece of my Ro armor last night. All the tips I read here were very helpful. I thought I'd add a few comments that may help that I didn't see here. They may be posted somewhere but I didn't come across them.

By the time I completed all the pieces I was 41. You pick up quite a bit of exp every time you turn in items for a mold. Since I was pretty high level for this quest I was able to solo almost everything. The only thing I needed a group or partner for was the cauldrons for the breastplate.

The most time consuming part (besides running across Norrath over and over) was getting the melatite. When you enter Sol A, fight through the gobs until you can cross the short bridge. Keep going straight and then make a right that will lead you down some stone steps. Follow that path fighting gobs until you see some spiked bars opening and closing. Back up some and there are some stairs down and to the right. At the bottom of these stairs there are 2 spawns that rarely drop the melatite. Go past them and there is another on around the corner. Cross the lava and follow the path as it winds back and forth and you will come to a fortress. There are 2 or 3 spawns out in front too. I killed over 100 of these for 7 melatite and I still wasn't KOS, just dubious.

Hunting the sharks for the rotten meat didn't work the way I read. I ended up just swimming around with my eyes at water level so I could see underwater. Eventually I found the plague shark - he was kind of tough even at 40. The spawn time is almost 2 hours so I camped and repeated the process. He dropped rotten meat both times so I guess I was lucky.

Killing the netmaster was also a problem. The first time I used the sense undead plan to find his pet and it worked like a charm. The second time he was by himself and when I killed him he despawned. After that I killed 7 netmaster pets but no netmaster was to be found. I finally just spent and hour swimming around until I found him.

The other pieces went pretty much by the book. This was a fun quest and although the armor isn't very good it is better that what I had and I think it is a quest that defines a paladin.

Good luck to all who try it.

I have compeleted two of the quest the bp and greaves pluse i have the boots mold and a bar of ronium and at this time i am going to get the shark parts for vambraces out of necessity first(need vambraces more than boots).
The way i see it is that as a paladin you should do this quest no just for the exp and faction but more for the simple fact that this game is supposed to be about quest (hence the name "Ever Quest") not just leveling. It adds flavor to the game. And all of you who say this quest is to hard for the reward I agree that i wish the stats on armor were better but hey its better than what I had on me previously. And hey after you get better stuff you can always yous this armor for speciale ocasions on EQ, like weddings and such becase it look good! Well any way tyo sum it up do this quest and stop biching about it being to hard. If you cant handle the heat get out of the kitchen.
BTW if any of you atempting this quest give feel free to ask me how to do any parts of it. I plan on obtaining full set. Good luck to you all felow paladins, we are the most noble of all classes and should act accordingly.

I just wanted to write back and let you know a few things...1st, I have completed the Helm of Ro WOOT! 1 down 4 to go and very proud of the accomplishment.

2nd is that in regards to thr BP quest, the cauldrons drop off mobs that are way over the head of a 32 Pally as mentioned in the quest description...I just dinged 36 lastnight in MM in the kitchen and they were still yellow to me, also You should absolutely have a GOOD, welrounded group with you (ie War, Clr, and oh yes..Enc most definately) You will also want to have Invis on and if at night invis VS undead too, if not you prolly wont make it into the castle or anywhere near the kitchen

We were there for about 4 hours with the cooks spawning every 15-20 mins so that gives some ideaa of the drop rate, be prepared to wait a bit, unlessw you're really lucky and they drop off the first two. Lastly there are 3 creatures that pop in the kitchen about the same time, 2 cooks and another pion Usher or something. Thats it, ive spoke enough, i hope to have another piece today if im lucky, take care all and have fun ; )

Is it just me or is the armor quest for Paladins a bit lengthy and alot of questing. I mean hey I love the questing but my buddies (ranger, warrior) are getting all their armor off of just a couple of pieces and making me cry since I have not completed one armor of ro quest yet. Oh well once I do finally get my Items I will wear the armor of Ro proudly!

I hear alot of people complaining about how screwed up the paladin Armor of Ro quests are. I on the other hand really like the armor and questing for it, I have the Bp and boots and greaves, I didnt buy them, I quested for them, It adds so much more depth to the game play. I wear my armor with great pride, because it is so hard to get. I pride anyone who quests for their items, such as Ro armor or even Crafted or Ivy Etched. Good luck to you all.

Suck #1:
Melatite: A Pally must go in and kill good races for a quest. Who thought up this crap?
For me, a SK went in for me and did the farming, thus I did not take any faction hits. I can easily kill anything in SOL A (level 50) But I refuse to kill good races.
Suck #2
Temple of Ro Faction. In Mistmoore, even at 50, anything that sees you attacks you...so, you just run up and kill things before they attack you. In the middle of all this mayhem - there is an NPC that is NOT a monster. YES, one NPC out of a thousand bloodthirsty mobs. And of course, we killed him. BAD temple of Ro Faction.
Suck #3.
Wandering bored in South Ro - I see an ORC, and wow! He is blue to me. Orthallus is his name, and NOW i find out here he is on Temple of Ro Faction?? It is an ORC damn it! So now, I find out I have killed TWO named that I should not have.

What is VI's obssession for having Paladins do opposite their nature for quests? Oh yea, and the obsession for faction too?
Let's look at this:
BP of Ro: AC: +20 Str: +4 Fire Resist: +10
Tree Weave: Wt 12.00. +25 AC, +10 Str,
Crustacean Shell Breastplate: Wt 10.00. +19 AC, +5 Str, +15 Sta, -8 Cha
Chestplate of the Dark Flame: Wt 15.00. +19 AC, +9 Str
Here is a player made SOL item:
Shadowscream Steel Tunic: Wt 3.00. +18 AC, +3 Str, +3 Sta, +4 vsMg
Look at this one, I have three on three characters:
Mithril Breastplate: Wt 10.00. +17 AC, +15 Agi, +30 HP,
This one is a sol item listed at 550 Plat:
Netherbian Chitin: Wt 6.00. +20 AC, +2 Str, +10 vsFire This is better than RO in AC, 2 less STR and same fire....
More SOL: Validus Custodus Plate Breastplate: Wt 8.00. +20 AC, +10 Str, -5 Agi, +15 HP
Dusty Breastplate: Wt 5.50. +22 AC, +5 Sta, +20 HP = 500 plat
Okay - how about Wis armor? Kylong Chestplate: Wt 0.80. +22 AC, +5 Str, -2 Dex, +3 Wis

So why do I want RO armor? I just found out that I need to kill Fairies too? Hell - why don't they make us go kill other Paladins while we are at it.
I have all I need for the quest except for Fairy Dust and Faction, and after this post, I think I will just destroy all the parts I do have. I was going to do this for kicks, but hey, I am wearing Treeweave, what do I need RO for?

What I don't understand is the complete and utter failure of Verant to design a paladin quest around a paladins strongpoints. We kill undead... it's what were good at. And how many do we kill for our mid-level armor?.... 2!!!!!!
We kill two undead cyclopses and that's it. Aren't my undead killing skills put to fine use...

And then they slap us further by having us slaughter faeries by the dozens, and kill a paladin at the request of another paladin. That one really eats. The paladin who tells you of the Sentry fails to mention that she'll start to hate you if you don't kill him as a werewolf. All she says is to put him out of his misery. Great.... done... now I take faction hits from the very people who requested the assassination.

And the Mistmoore Granite is hellish. "Lets take a quest item (needed in abundance) and make it no drop, and then stick it in the middle of a zone guarded by an endless stream of mobs ranging from green to dark blue (to the characters of the quest level) who aggro unconditionally." Does that seem at all intelligent? Or just cruel? And now, with the recent patch making mob spellcasters so bloody hard, the granite is even harder to reach (let alone the cauldrons).

All I can say is that Verant really doesn't think things over well. They really seem to like to forget about role-playing, character design, and generally the way their game works when it comes to quests. I'm doing the quest anyway, even though there's better armor out there, because I'm rather dedicated to playing a quintessential paladin... with Ro Armor and Ghoulbane and the works. My complaint is only that Verant tends to be shortsighted. Difficult I can accept... but when friends are completing full suits of the mid-level armor for other classes while I'm endlessly battering at the greens of Mistmoore and not getting anywhere... that is beyond difficult, right into ridiculous.

I once posed the fairy dust question to a guide, and why we Paladin's were involved in killing an obvious good race to obtain the necessary item to complete the ronium. Their response was who has declared the RO armor as "Good" armor, "who says" a Paladin has to wear it. I think he/she was saying it is choice by the individual, even a roleplay issue. Bascially, I disagreed with her answer, but I did come up with an alternative. I use an ALT to collect my fairy dust, a 40th Warrior, and sell it to myself cheap! :)

Anyway, some will argue there is alot more out there then Ro armor, and they would be right. However, the point of having quests is to complete them, to give yourself a sense of accomplishment, otherwise whats the point of playing this game. Verant is consistant at one thing, leaving us scratching our heads and saying, "huh."

Sincerely,
Sir Corrillian Laerthian,

Paladins often get items that are as good or better than other races because they have no strong points, but this armor, all of it sux especially for how much effort, faction, money, and pure time this takes. The BP is the best peice to do, if any because of the 4 STR, but its still no good for how much it takes. For 190-210 you can get a FP BP which is 19 AC, which I know isnt anything special but thats less than the Enchanted Platinum bars needed for this crap quest. This doesnt even give a special image, like other special quests do, so the reasons for doing this quest are quite limited. Im proud to be a pally but I doubt I will be doing any of these quests unless I get seriously bored.

Do you have to buy the platnium bars? Is there any other way to get them? Why are they making paladins spend approx. 200+pp to a vender for a quest? That doesn't make any sense.

If I am not mistaken, Shaman "Totemic" armor requires you to buy an expensive gem for each peice called dufrenite. Also the Cleric peices, which are admittedly easier quests, require enchanted platinum bars. Just some info for comparison, as when I had a druid, I did those quests frequently for cash.

You're not the only one's who have to spend huge sums of Palt for quest armor. Go look up the Bard Lambent quest. Just buying the gems (which do drop off mobs if you want to be there forever) will cost you an arm and a leg.

19 ac.. no great bonuses but not as big of a headache...

... and think on this...Many armors, (Rygorr, Blackened etched, etc...) Have the bonuses and no quest attached. I realize this armor could be a source of pride and bragging rights, but it seems Verant is sticking it to paladins on this one in their effort to make the expansions new and better...

The ronium is not no drop so it can be traded, unfortunately it means getting the rest of the items which is fairy dust for soil of the underfoot (which is no drop)etc etc. However if you have the cauldrons then it would be simpler to get the mold and complete the quest and hand him the Breast Plate which is not no drop.

Mind you, you will need good faction too (

Well this set of armor for pallys is the midway armor for you, same as Ravenscale, Dark Forge, Crafted, Cleric Quest when there was only 50th lvl this was the armor you recived before you went to the planes, it was (and still is IMO) great mid-lvl armor. though nowadays you can see lvl 5's in full sets of this, but technically you are suppose to get this armor your self and all the pieces drop in the lvl apropriate places. when i was but a young druid 20ish.. most of my friends who where my lvl still wore Bronze and Chain, nowadays the twinks rule.. and i see lvl 15 druids with better than what im wearing, and when i was thier lvl i wore full leather.. with no wisdom items and my trusty FS scimmy and Shiney Brass Shield.. (the SBS was my most prized posesion)

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 13 2001 at 6:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You really should quit complaining. Really. At least you HAVE a lot of interesting quests. Druids have almost no quests, while you have some that give some great rewards. Also, questing is, at least in my opinion, much more fun than camping anything (Plat ring for Paw, for example), and, the rewards for your quests are great as well. Don't complain just because you have difficult quests. Be thankful that you at least HAVE some quests.

The best way to increase faction with Ro and all his minions is by killing Shadows. Just about every class needs some item they drop so it shouldn't be hard to get a shadow group together between level 30 and 40, especially in WC.

Hehe. LoL.. This is not the hardest part of Ro armor quest.. A group of 30ish to 35ish Can go in to MM and camp all the things needed at 1 time. And while your at it you can camp 2 other things. Here the best way I have see it done.. Get your group into MM castle, and tuck them away in the Maid room.. There are 3 pops in the maid room, so having a bard or chanter is a must. Clear that room, and you have about 28 mins to take out the 2 that pop in the hall, and the other 2 that pop in the butler's room right next to the maids room. After you have cleared those 2 rooms you should still have about 18 to 20 mins left. Run to the kitchen which is right down the hall. You may not even have to go in.. See's the Anicile Cooks can see though the walls.. Pull them back to maid's room.. Kill'em. Get your pots.. Also in the maid's room, 1 garg will spawn.. If you want to get more MM Granite, just pull the 2 gargs that are right next to the kitchen. In 1 trip here and 2 hours of playing.. I went from lvl 36 to 37, got 5 Pots and 7 pieces of MM granite. As far as faction goes.. Just go to Paineel. And spend about 3 hours killing skellies in the newb zone. This is the best place to get bone chips.. I got about 700 in the 3 hours I spent there.. You only need to turn in about 250 to get the amiable faction.. But, if you are doing any Ro quest, this should be 1 stop you make. Cuz, cleric guild love them bone chips.. And love you for givin'em to them. The most difficult and pain in the ars part of Ro Armor is getting the Melatite. Which only drops in Sol A off the Clock works.. But, from what I have seen. There is a bonus to doing the Ro armor, cuz number 1 your learn your way around alot of difficult places, and number 2, you always get more than what you need. When I went to Sol A to farm the Melatite, I not only got 12 bars (weighing in at 5lbs each) but 3 Charred Guardian Shields, 1 Molten Cloak from Gabbie who pops in the clock works castle, 2 Mitirl Quills (Junk) but good fer newb's and some other crap like Defrenite, mineral used in makin totemic armor..

So, to sum it up.. Yes the quest is long, yes some of the Ro' armor is no where near as good as other armor obtainible at the lvl.. But if you do the quest, your bound to get a lot of goodies to make cash along the way.. I just make the Ro' Bp's and sell'em for 1200pp each.. Not a bad deal considerin it only cost 220pp to make.. And I sell the bars of Ronium for bout 600 to 700pp each. So, I hope some of this is useful..

i hate MM.i was there and i got all the way to the kitchen with a 34 warrior, 46 warrior (myself), and a 57 pally. the dining room is rough and botht imes we got the whole room and almost died. first time the 34 war died and pally just gave him a revive. he had to use LoH on me. it was pretty scarey. anyway while i was there i got 2 cauldrons and 4 pieces of granite. when the pally died when we got like 6on us i got stuck in the kitchen, so i logged and waited for the rescue party to get there, then i relogged. MM can b a tricky place and i just advise people to BE CAREFUL.

This has got to be one of the biggest pains in the ass to do considering what you get for the reward. I'm a dedicated Paladin so I did the quest. Not only did I have to get all the regular components for ronium, but I then had to give the Clerics of Tunare in Felwithe about 14 stacks of bone chips!! Took me forever to get enough to get the proper faction. Of course then you run to Rathe Mtns and then run again to FP to FINALLY get the piece of armor. Oh well I guess it was worth it. PB AoE spells like Supernova don't have a mob limit - hence the way AE groups work, by creating as big a train of mobs as possible and having 3 or so wizards use PB AE spells to kill them all. Of course, an enchanter is also necessary to keep the mobs stunned and stop them from reducing the wizards to a pulp. :)

In this case, you probably wouldn't manage to get 2 Supernovas off, but 2 wizards could do it. And 2 novas would kill most mobs in Mistmoore outside the castle, not too sure about inside though.

Is it possible to buy the dark cauldrons?
RE: Dark cauldron no drop?
# Sep 17 2000 at 6:14 AM Rating: Default
NO =)

They're no drop. However if you can get to the Kitchen in Mistmoore and kill the cooks, they drop quite frequently. I camped maid/butler for a while to get fangs for my Warrior. I broke the Kitchen a few times, and kept it broken for a few rounds each time - I must have seen 25 cauldrons drop. I looted about 15 of them, then they took too much space in the bank so I destroyed most of em ;P.

The same goes for granite: If you can get to the Maid/Butler rooms, just camp those and get all the granite you need (there is a gargoyle in each of the rooms). I would avoid the 4 garg room, as there is a roamer - if you're not high enough level and he aggros, the whole ambassador room will come (or is that called the negotiator room? *shrug*).

RE: where is this dark elf camp
# Nov 12 2000 at 6:02 AM Rating: Default
The camp is in Lesser Faydark, which is probably why some are having trouble.

The dark elf camp can be found a few different ways, and wandering around aimlessly is not one of them. If you know where the Orc Chieftan or Nybright Sisters camp is, its very close to there. It used to be some empty tents, but now hosts the DEs that are highly aggro.

If you come from Steamfont or Greater Faydark, follow the wall left of the entrance (past SF entrance if you are coming from GF) until it turns right. Go right, but when you see hills coming a bit out from the zone wall, and it looks like something could be hidden on the other side, go away from the wall. I dont know what level these things are, but you don't want to walk right into the camp.

If you can find the Mistmoore zone, coming out and heading to the right, you will pass a camp of 4 sisters (nybrights) and not far past that you will see the camp. Its more obvious from this direction, but still stay a good distance away.

I have hunted the Teir'Dal Elites and Prophets for hours at a time (great xp) and none of theses things dropped.....maybe they are EXTREMELY rare and not worth ur time or this is incorrect. It is possible they drop off the priestess or dragoon which is too high and i never got a chance to kill. As to answer ur question, they are located along the wall, taking a right and following the right wall for abour 1 minute and ur there...be careful they're VERY aggro. hope this helped good luck =)

Mistmoore granites and dark cauldrons
# Aug 24 2000 at 1:59 PM Rating: Default
The dark cauldrons are the hardest items to obtain. Being a high elf paladin of 39th rank, I naturally needed a help from two of my guildmates, a level 53 shadow knight and a level 50 magician. We entered the castle invisible and waltzed directly to the kitchen. Beware, there are a few castle inhabitants who can see through invisibility. Once we were inside the kitchen, the shadow knight initiated the attack, while the magician quickly created a pet. I joined the melee after the first cook was down. Blessed Tunare both cooks had the dark cauldron on them. After that we moved to the maid/butler rooms and pulled from there. In the end, we walked away with a good number of granites and a few dark cauldrons. Alas, much to my guildmates dissapointment, no fangs were dropped.

The breastplate statistics are quite dissapointing considering how daunting the quest is. However, its shiny silvery look makes all the efforts worth it.

May Tunare be with you in your quests,

The cooks still drop the cauldrons as of 6/30/00 (long after the DE camp was added), and I used them to do the quest. The cooks are actually around level 35, and not level 31. At level 35 they conned even and occasionally yellow. They are shadowknights, and thus have HT, so be careful when breaking the room, as 2 HTs can quickly be lethal.
