This monster mission follows the task "Shadowmane Invasion" and begins with Scout Bristlethorp at +1170, +810, in the northwest corner of Undershore.

If you've finished "Shadowmane Invasion":

Scout Bristlethorp says 'During the War of the Four Crests after the Fall of Xill, the Shadowmanes and drachnids attacked fast and were never detected by the Ragepaws and shiliskin. Even with all of that, I'm not sure why they failed. I can only gather minimal information from the [other various artifacts] that I have discovered here.'

You say, 'What other artifacts?'

Scout Bristlethorp says 'I was up in the caves one night and found several crates of gnomish explosives that were with us on the Burrownizer. How the Ragepaws obtained them, I don't know. If you look at the density of this explosive through my Big-Blasto Detection Unit 9800, you can see one of the reasons the Shadowmane were able to push past the barrier protecting one of their high ranking elders, Ultrok. I hope no gnomes got involved! Would you like to take a [closer look]? You must give it back to me when you're finished inspecting though; I wouldn't want it falling into the wrong hands.'

You receive A Crate of High-Powered Gnomish Explosives.

This is NOT the task reported by DKJanik.

This task is the reverse task which was offered after the shadowmane task.

In this you play either a shaman or a warrior ragepaw. Shaman gets dot, dd, slow, 2400ish heal, 1200ish heal and a 1000hp/tic HoT. The first part of the mission is to protect the 3 elders. Waves of shadowmane's spawn and attack both of the front rooms. We did the mission with 5 and then 4 people and on the second time around we lost one elder but still were able to complete the mission.

After several waves of shadowmane clerics/warriors (watch the clerics, they gate) Commander darkmane shouts and you get a new task of killing commander darkmane AND one of protecting ultork. At this point ultork and all remaining elders will run to the shadowmane entrance and proceed to attack commander darkmane. The easiest thing to do at this point is to slow him and just keep enough people alive in melee range of him to keep him from hitting ulthork or the other ragepaws since they far outdamage any of the PC characters. Kill him and reward/shards are on his body. Both times we completed the mission the belt dropped so it appears to be the common drop in my estimation.

You can only play a monk or a rogue and the monk does not have FD and the rogue does not have back stab. Sneak/hide does not work here. The rogue can snare and rogue-stun. there were a few other ones but I dont remeber. 2 hour timer for the mission

1) Enter the Snarlstone dens...undershore 0/1

2) Slay the 3 ragepaw elders....snarlstone dens 0/3

(at this point you talk to Commander Darktooth to begin)
Ist elder is cake.
Now for us the commander died on the second elder (elder Ragepaw Renzai) because there were at least 20 guards. It took a lot of time to clear out all the guards from the second elders room. Consequently after the 3ed elder died, we ran out of time. You dont need the commander to kill the elders but it definetly helps. The guards in the Elder's room respawn and there are around 20 of them. The second time I tried to train them out because the elder will pop back to his room but the shadowmane army kept getting snagged on the train. I restarted the mission (third try) and trained the guards from the second elders room. I ran them around the small basin near the zone in and the shadowmane army didnt get snaged on it. The bad thing is that the guards will pop back to the elders room in about 5 min. So you have to time it between the elder poping back and the group all out dpsing him while someone is kiting the guards. You can not pull the elder from his room because at 30-35% he will run back to his room and be at 100% health. Hopefully when you are DPSing and dieing some of the shadowmane army will make it in there and heal you and add to the dps. Also if you want to add to your chances, the corner to your left in the back of the elders room is safe. You have to push into it though. The elders hit for about 900 and quad...the ragepaw consorts hit for 700's (these are the main guards). Since you can only play a rogue or a monk it is very difficult. the other lower ragepaws hit for about 400's. If you are tanking you will need heals, so make sure you are with the army. Honestly Im not sure how we killed the second elder the 1st time since it was 2 of us in the mission (because the other 4 left but stayed in so that I could work some things out) That first time all I did was try to seperate his guards and kill the guards as quickly as possible then rush the elder before the guards respawned. It eventually worked and the 3ed elder was cake to kill. After the elders were dead though I think the army ran out of the zone. I lost track of them and went to check out the door to the savage lord and got the message below under step 3. Elder 1 is in the first room in the right tunnel. Elder 2 is in the first room in the left tunnel and elder 3 is in the second room in the right tunnel. Their names are marked on the in game map.

Note about traps. I was not able to disarm any traps nor did i sense them as a rogue. however once you enter the tunnels from the main ent a trap will be sprung. there is an emote that says "you hear a sound in the distance" this means a swarm of bats is coming and will kill any shadowmanes or you that is in that tunnel. There is a third trap before you reach the 3ed elder same bats. You can trigger it and run out if you want. If you are killed by the bats you get the message that says you have been slane by !. I thought that was funny.

3) Find a way to break through to Ultork, the Savage Lord.....snarltooth dens 0/1

If you go the back door you get the message: "The door refuses to budge. It would take an incredible amount of explosive force to get through."
Not sure what this means, probably need the commander alive to do it.

get the explosives from the explosives crate in the 3rd elder's room after killing him. Pal/SK sword dropped for my group with wis shards and explosives. use explosives on the door that won't budge. kill the savage lord.
