This group task is the fourth in a series of five (following the "A Plea for Help" task) and begins with the Shadowalker Dustspirit who can be found in the northwestern part of Stoneroot Falls at location -685, +850.

You say, 'Hail, Shadowalker Dustspirit'

Shadowalker Dustspirit says 'Greetings _____, it is good to see you again. Your efforts with the Ragepaws have seen some success. They have agreed to meet with us again to discuss matters. However, there has been some [unrest] amongst the pack lately.'

You say, 'What unrest?'

Shadowalker Dustspirit says, 'Elder Ritualist Longshadow has been acting oddly of late. Some of the pack has become suspicious of her and are wondering about her devotion to our cause. To help quell their fears I had sent one of our scouts to follow her. He followed the Elder to the mushroom forest, but ran into some [trouble].'

You say, 'What trouble?'

Shadowalker Dustspirit says 'He was ambushed by a small group of drachnids. While he was able to fend them off they were able to injure him to the point that he is no longer able to effectively trail the Elder. If you are [willing] I would like to have you take over for him and keep an eye on the Elder while she is away from the pack.'

You say, 'I am willing.'

Shadowalker Dustspirit says 'You truly are a worthy friend. Please speak with Scout Whiteclaw for more information on where to find Elder Ritualist Longshadow. Please hurry though, we wouldn't want to lose her while we delay.'

There are three versions of this task: Hard High Level (group average level 68+); Normal High Level (68+); Low Level (67 and under). The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty/levels of mobs.

You have been assigned the task 'Trailing Longshadow'.

Scout Whiteclaw was tasked with trailing Elder Longshadow. He was injured while tracking Longshadow in the Corathus Creep and is no longer able to continue. He has offered to show you where you can find Longshadow so you can continue the investigation.



Speak with Scout Whiteclaw 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)

Scout Whiteclaw stands a few feet away from Shadowalker Dustspirit.

You say, 'Hail, Scout Whiteclaw'

Scout Whiteclaw says 'Welcome pack friend. I see Dustspirit has chosen you to continue my work. I would have continued following Elder Ritualist Longshadow, but I am not able to do so with my injuries. I can [show you] to her current location though.'

You say, 'Show me.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Undershore.

This teleports you into an instanced version of Undershore.

You are standing at the zone-in spot from Corathus Creep. Elder Ritualist Longshadow stands a short distance to the south, on the other side of the waterfall. "Trash" Mobs in the instance con higher level than in normal Undershore.

Trail Elder Ritualist Longshadow and see what you can discover 0/1 (Undershore)

Task window says: Follow Elder Longshadow and see if the suspicions of the pack are valid. Be sure to note any unusual activities.

A few minutes after zoning into the instance, you'll see this emote:

Elder Ritualist Longshadow says "I must be on my way, they may get suspicious if I'm gone for much longer".

...And she'll begin to move. Follow her from a distance (you may want to be invisible to avoid aggro from other mobs in the zone).

Get neither too close nor too far away.

If you do get too close the mission will abort:

Elder Ritualist Longshadow tries to tear out your throat.

Elder Ritualist Longshadow growls at you and curses beneath her breath. 'Stupid lackeys! Who are you to follow such as me? My loyalty is beyond question and outsiders of questionable allegiance such as yourselves would do well to remember that. Now leave me and do not trouble me again!'

Your shared task, 'Trailing Longshadow (Hard/Normal)', has ended.

Elder Ritualist Longshadow will periodically stop, at which point 2-4 Drachnid Assailants (usually three) will attack you. Elder Ritualist Longshadow will not start walking again until the last Drachnid is dead, so keep one mezzed if you need a med break.

Part of your journey (center of zone) will pass through an area with undead, so be ready with IVU.

During the journey, you will overhear Longshadow...

Elder Ritualist Longshadow says 'Yes, once I get back it will be time to begin turning them against each other. Perhaps if the annihilate themselves others will not be so quick to follow'.

Elder Ritualist Longshadow says 'I'll need to drag the Ragepaws further into this soon though. They did seem interested in helping bring their cousins out from under the thumb of the master'.

Elder Ritualist Longshadow says 'That would work out very well. I'll send them to look for another. If they find one I can move forward with the plan, and if not. . .well, at least the Hive will eat well.'

When Elder Ritualist Longshadow reaches the zone to Stoneroot Falls, she meets with a level 71 Drachnid Informant:

Elder Ritualist Longshadow nods to the informant, 'The plan has been going perfectly. The orb has been placed with the leaders of the faction and should beginning its effects as we speak. The Ragepaws have been contacted and we may be able to take care of them as well in this same effort.'

a drachnid informant says 'Are you stupid or just blind? You've been followed you fool! I will have to hear the rest of your report later. For now, return to the pack and continue as planned. I will take care of these intruders.'

Slay the drachnid informant 0/1 (Undershore)

Task window says: Slay the Informant! The informant must not be allowed to continue helping Longshadow destroy the pack.

Upon the informant's death:

Longshadow is a traitor! Dustspirit must hear this news. Make hate and return to the camp, there isn't much time if you wish to prevent Longshadow from causing amy further harm.
You gain experience!!

Found out why people where confused so decided to post info. Once you beat a mission on the normal setting it opens up the hard setting. You dont have to do all the previous missions on hard to get it.

BUT once you have WON this mission in order to see the hard setting you MUST ZONE then return. Thats all there is to it. Then when you request a mission from Shadowalker Dustspirit by telling him "hear the tale" and the window pops up all the hard missions will show for the missions you have already won on normal setting.

I believe the water illusion clicky is a zone wide rare drop off any mob in the HARD setting of this mission. Witheran Prowler Mask is the item I am referring to.

Elder Ritualist Longshadow stops 8 times. the number of adds was pretty consistant for the first few stops (we whiped a few times getting hang of it and memory is a bit fuzzy for a few in the middle)
1. follow her across the waterfall, stop at turn in bridge and 2 spiders spawn.
2. once she moves again finish that bridge then go to the bottom of the next one and wait there for 3 spiders.
3. go over to the right and follow the beach to the left .. she swims across and stops on the other side wait around on side opposit her for the mobs (2-3).
4. cross to the other beach and follow her adds spawn.id suggest moveing on and killing the undead while you keep the last spider locked down (4 spiders)
5. she stops for awile after you kill the last mobs, then she makes a slight U turn back towards the way she came then heads off to the West between two hills and on to island with undead, when we did it she walked up and to the right a bit and 3-4 mobs spawned to left so watch out with agro the adds ate the casters that were in the back.
6. next stop is further on down that same island with the undead mobs (again they spawned near the back of where group was set up so lag behind elder longshadow a bit.) 3-4
7. Next she swam over to another island with a few mobs on it, we got 4 spiders and 2 adds so might want to pull some of that island before hand.
8. She stops out in front of tunnel to Stoneroot falls. She walks off and final mob jumps you.

Watch out with pathing dont let any of the spiders get near elder longshadow or the mission ends. Also, keep the squishy toons behind the tank ... possibly make the tank sit down when adds are about to spawn so he gets the agro.

Make sure you Hail Scout Whiteclaw before you say "Show Me", if you just port up it doesnt update the quest properly. You will go all the way through the instance, kill the final mob (getting task updates the whole way) only to find that your quest log hasnt updated and you cant complete the task. If you zone out and go back to Whiteclaw it doesnt register that you killed the informant :)

Case anyone was wondering, once you spawn the informant, you dont have to worry about Longshadow. My group wiped due to aggroing half the critters near Stoneroot, and we were otw back. I zoned in, and got the message that the informant would "Take care of" us. He ran across the zone and killed me. Be wary-grab someone who can summon corpses across zone, or do a Guild Lobby rez

When he moves onto the undead island, he will pop a few mobs right at the start of it. Keep 1 mob mezzed here, and clear the 4 undead that wander the island. That saves you the need to invis vs undead.

Also, when he moves of the undead island onto the last island before the end beach, keep one mob mezzed and clear the wandering mobs on the beach ahead. While looking from the island to the beach, clear the beach and to the left (cave entrance). The final boss comes out of the cave entrance there.

This saves you a lot of trouble with all those mobs adding on the boss (if someone lags behind).

There might be an easier way, but I didn't wanna take the risc to try it out.

You might be able to have the whole group invis over the water to the cave entrance, and fight the boss there. So if someone is doing the mission, and doesn't mind trying this out, let others know here if it works...

And yes... a mezzer is almost like a prerequisite for this mission :(

Thanks for the info!

Clearing the undead (zombies) helps.

But we did not clear the beach, instead we waited floating over the water, and the Informant charged us. Elder Ritualist Longshadow walks towards the zone to Stone Root Falls and vanishes. So we move to zoneout and killed the informant there without adds.

the caster aug is total crap, melee get a nice dodge 3 aug and we get a whole whopping 7 to some stats, not worth the aug slot.

If you do, they wait forever for you. You have to kill the 2 mobs before he moves again.

Did the first 3 missions on hard mode, and there was no hard option for 4th mission (this one), not sure how people were getting a hard version. Got the wurine sense stone for caster reward and shadowmane shaman arms for boss loot.

Update: looks like hard version doesn't show up til after you beat normal.

This mission was pretty hard with no mezzer, reward was bad.

you follow the elder ritualist around, but dont get to close cause he will aggro. Once he stops at a spot, spiders will pop, usually 3, once they are dead longshadow start to move again, stops and spiders pop, kill and follow and so on. If you need to med, simply keep the last spider mezzed, and kill when ready.

the name of the task is "Trailing Longshadow"

The rewards are as follows, with the lucy link:

Melee/Hybrid = Wurine Feeling Stone

Caster = Wurine Sense Stone

Very nice items for the effort and they are 60 required.


The boss item drop is Ornate Mithril Collar, which is 65 required and 68 recommended.

Actually the Caster reward is kind of junky. Who wants to waste an aug slot on stats. If I ever do this, I hope the hard gives a much better caster type reward. Otherwise it'll end up "grats on destroy button."
