This group monster mission begins with the Rogue Freemind Sporali at -660, +490 in Corathus Creep. You'll need to loot a Mind Spore from one of numerous "a mindspore thrall" mobs found near the zone to Undershore.

You say, 'Hail, Rogue Freemind Sporali'

The Rogue Freemind perks up and gazes deeply into you. A buzzing sound begins to rise up within your skull and you grasp that it is trying to communicate to you. Alas, you are unable to understand it. Amidst all of the buzzing, you gleam that perhaps if you found a certain item, then you might be able to finally understand it.

Give it the Mind Spore.

The Rogue Freemind ingests the Mind Spore.

Suddenly a cloud of gas and tiny spores explode from its body. You feel a tingle as the spores touch your skin and detect a hint of almonds in the gas.

You have been assigned the task 'Sporali Mind Meld'.

The only monster template available is a Sporali Freespore, a 45th level Ranger.

Hail the Rogue Freemind 0/1 (Corathus Creep)

You feel yourself falling into the confusing memories of the Rogue Freemind. You understand that you can resist the influence you feel, but you sense that all you have to do to submit to it is to speak to it.

You say, 'Hail, Rogue Freemind Sporali'

The world goes cold and black as if all light is being drained out of it...

As you allow the power of the spores seep into you, you begin to understand how the Rogue Freemind feels, how the lives of Freeminds such as this are forever stained with a loneliness such that your people can never understand.

You learn that all Sporali can communicate mentally with each other over great distances. All except Rogue Freeminds that is for it seems that they are completely cut off from all other Sporali. Though you are not sure how Freeminds in general occur within the Sporali colony, you glean that they perform the necessary function of forming new colonies. Rogue Freeminds, however, are looked down upon and are usually killed outright.

Doomed to wander the world alone, without a home, Rogue Freeminds lead lives in painful solitude.

You awaken with one thought in your mind, escape!

Yet you must first find some Manasheen Toadstools for food and a Moss Club for protection.

Loot 1 Moss Club from Sporali Fighter 0/1 (Sporali Caverns)

This item is a common drop from sporali defenders (non-casting mobs - appear red).

Loot 3 Manasheen Toadstool from Sporali Gardener 0/3 (Sporali Caverns)

This item is a common drop from casters (appear blue).

? ? ?

(What is the last step?)

(How/Where is loot obtained?)

At some point a chest spawns (called what?) - maybe after the fourth item is looted. One possible location:

"Look at your map. Imagine a vertical line at the right side of the map. Imagine this vertical line moving slowly to the left. The first bit of land where the vertical line crosses is where the zone-out is and also where the chest spawned for me."

One possible drop is Ooze-Spattered Boots. The other is Ooze-Covered Scarf. (Is there another possible drop?)

Ooze-Spattered Boots transform to:
???? (level 1-10)
???? (level 11-20)
???? (level 21-30)
???? (level 31-40)
Spore-Smudged Sabatons (level 41-50)
Spore-Laden Boots (level 51-60)
Spore-Dusted Boots (level 61-70)

Ooze-Covered Scarf transform to:
???? (level 1-10)
???? (level 11-20)
???? (level 21-30)
???? (level 31-40)
???? (level 41-50)
Glowfungus Trinket (level 51-60)
Necklace of the Sporali Elders (level 61-70)

This appears to be a raid quest, as it told me there weren't enough people in my group. This is not a solo quest.

Most group quests require at least 3 people. How many were in your group?

I did this MM today with a bit of success. It is not the easiest MM out there, but its fun to do once or twice. I am posting this in 3 parts, because the information I have is too much to put into one post. (The great Allakhazam wont let me)

--------------------

THE QUEST:

1) Give Rogue Freemind Sporali a Mind Spore that drops from ‘a mindspore thrall’.
2) He will give it back to you and you can use it to do the mission again latter.
3) Hail Freemind to enter the zone instance
4) Loot 1 somewhat common drop from those red mobs (I think they were called a sporali defender)
5) Loot 3 fairly common drops from those blue caster mobs (a sporalli gatherer - see quest details for more specifics)
6) Chest will then spawn by zone out. Once you open the chest, it will decay in about 30min. Be Warrned: you can not loot when hostile creatures know of your presence.
7) Loot shards and possibly the item to finish the MM.

STRATEGY:

1) WHERE TO FIGHT: In the end, you have to get to the chest, so you may as well start fighting that way until the quest items are looted.
2) The chest is located to the very far east of the zone, by the zone out.
3) AVOIDING AGRO: When the mobs get down to 10% heath, they run. This is can cause some very big agro problems. To avoid this, pick one puller. Puller grabs one mob and brings to the group. Once that mob is at 50% health, go grab another mob and mezz it. This will cause the mob you’re fighting to think that it’s not alone in battle, and it will not run. Keep chain-pulling in this manner until you want to stop. To end the chain, I recommend that everyone in the group be ready with their area nuke. Once the mob reaches 12% health, everyone in the group hits their nuke for a finishing blow. My group was not coordinated enough to do this, but it seems like a good theory to me.
4) GETTING TO THE CHEST: This was one part of the quest were my group was not able to come up with a good strategy. Perhaps someone else can post a strategy that works. I do have a few ideas that you may want to try:
a. Have one person cause a suicide train to the chest. The others follow, and hide when necessary to get to chest. Once everyone is at chest and has looted a shard. A different person trains around to escort the first person who did the suiciding. (This is how my group tried it, and we were not very successful)
b. Fight your way to the chest. I bet this is how Sony wants you to do it. You have to be fast though. The chest will eventually de-spawn.
c. Try mezzing your way through. You do need to figure out a method to know who is going mezz which mob. It’s a major waste of mana for 6 people to mezz the same mob. Maybe have a main mezzer. One person can mezz if one adds. Another person gots 2nd add. And so on. You can switch roles as people get low on mana. (Another idea might be alph mezzing.)

CHEST LOCATION:

I wish I had a label you could add to your maps. Or even a loc would be nice. Maybe I can do something if I do this MM again. But this was a major confusion for my group. Some people could not get their shards because they could not find the chest. So I will try to describe as best I can where the chest spawns:

Look at your map. Imagine a vertical line at the right side of the map. Imagine this vertical line moving slowly to the left. The first bit of land where the vertical line crosses is where the zone-out is and also where the chest spawned for me.

I hope these post helps some of you out there. ATM, it’s a fun MM. Who knows what will happen when Sony goes on a nerfing-spree =P

Just happened upon this quest info and I have to agree. Excellent attention to detail. I wish more people were as helpful. I tend to simply ignore those annoying 3 word posts. Really, what good are they?
