Find Illusionist Zimix in the Stoneroot Falls (+959, -1739) in the northeast part of the zone.

You say, 'Hail, Illusionist Zimix'

Illusionist Zimix says 'Keep your voices down, I can't have anyone seeing me speak with the likes of you. Although it is possible you have enough courage to face a [task] that none of my own people are willing to help me with.'

You say, 'What task?'

Illusionist Zimix says 'I have been working on developing my own network of informants, along with tapping into the resources of others. During the course of this I have come across intriguing [information].'

You say, 'What information?'

Illusionist Zimix says 'Apparently there is drachnid known as Vilsrin who trains the elite guards that protect the drachnids' master. One such as that would undoubtedly have information regarding that master and possibly could be tricked into revealing a weakness. This is where my latest [enchantments] come in.'

You say, 'What enchantments?'

Illusionist Zimix says 'I've developed a powerful enchantment that will allow a transformation into a drachnid form while inside the drachnids' lair. Of course, should the drachnids discover the enchantment there would be a great deal of trouble. This is why I have been having trouble finding someone to [take part] in investigating Vilsrin.'

You say, 'I will take part.'

Illusionist Zimix says 'Hmmm. I don't know that my enchantment will be as effective on those not of shiliskin blood, but I am [willing to try]. Keep in mind that the drachnids are very intelligent creatures and for all I know Vilsrin could be their master. If he is, you could very quickly be taken prisoner or killed.'

You say, 'I am willing to try.'

Illusionist Zimix says 'Give me a moment to prepare the enchantments for you. They will not take effect until you enter the lair, so be careful sneaking in so none of them see the change.'

You have been assigned the task 'Infiltrating the Hive'.

In this monster mission you play a drachnid. You can choose from cleric, warrior, wizard, enchanter, rogue, and necromancer.



Sneak into the hive where none of the drachnids can see the enchantment take effect 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)

Remember that you can't be seen when the enchantment takes effect, it would spoil the entire effect.

This step updates when you zone in.

Search out Vilsrin and see what information you can gather from him 0/1 (The Hive)

See what you can find about Vilsrin, the drachnids, and most importantly their master. Any information could potentially be critical in our fight for survival.

Find Vilsrin, the Cryptweaver, in the last nest (at the entrance to Dreadspire Keep)

You say, 'Hail, Vilsrin, the Cryptweaver'

Vilsrin, the Cryptweaver says 'What do you want slime? Unless you're here for [training] you'd best be on your way.'

You say, 'I'm here for training'

Vilsrin, the Cryptweaver says 'I only train the most capable of our kind to serve the [master] directly. I don't know that you look like the type to be able to stand up to the sort of regimen I would put you through. You'd best be on your way pests.'

You say, 'Master?'

Vilsrin, the Cryptweaver says 'You don't know about the master? What sort of. . .' Vilsrin's eyes narrow for a moment, 'Perhaps you don't. . .'

Vilsrin, the Cryptweaver says 'Your ruse is finished! You honestly believed you could come in here and attempt to fool me in my own domain? You will soon see the error in that line of thinking. The hive will soon be alerted to your presence and there will be no escape. You three, keep these intruders busy until I return. If they die, so be it.'

an elite guard trainee calls out for guards as it charges your position.

a drachnid champion says 'Foolish interloper! I shall dine upon you!'

All the mobs around you attack (depending how far apart your party stands). Kill the adds and Vilsrin and move on. The named mobs in the zone hit for up to 5500, flurry, rampage, enrage, and see through rogue SOS.

You'll have to kill The Hive Captain, The Hive Summoner, and The Hive Webmaster.

- One named is on the top floor of one of the nests.
- The second named is by the undeads in the cave near the middle of the zone.
- The final named is in the upper left cave near an instanced zone entrance.

Once you have killed the three nameds, go to the zone out to Stoneroot Falls. Near the zone-out is a chest with loot.



The common drop is the Rusty Dagger of Slaying, and the rare drop is the Broken Bone Shell Mask.

Ok was gonna 3 box this today but I could not get the mission. He cons dubious. Are there pre-requisites for this mission?

I was able to 3 box this mission although it initially took me 2 1/2 hours and my best time was 1 hour and 35 minutes. I used warrior, enchanter and cleric (but I'm sure other combos will work). If you have just 3 people who are not boxed, I'm sure you can do it faster than me.

First off, always go into the mission with invis and levi on! If you accidentally fall, you can be in trouble if you have not.

To start, you must find Vilsrin, the Cryptweaver who is at +288, +1110, the top of the last hive (furthest from the zone). You speak to him and he finally gets ****** at you and then you can start kickin some ****. Here is the dialog for that part:

Now you have to kill the 3 named. This is what I found the most efficient way. Walk out on the ramp from that room and then jump down to the main highway (the one that attaches to all 4 hives). Do not fall or you'll get stick at the furthest end of the zone in undershore (sucks). You will have to clear mobs as you progress of course. The 1st boss, The Hive Summoner , is in the top of the 1st hive (closest to zone) at -150, 430. He has two skeleton guards that con blue. If you are careful, you can skip most of the mobs during your ascent and not have to fight them.

Next, backtrack to the main highway and enter the 3rd hive (the one next to Vilsrin's) and ascend until you can enter the cave. This one again can be done with fairly minimal fighting if you are careful. Your next target is The Hive Captain who is in front of an instance zone entrance at 150, 1350 (northern part of this "mining" room). He has a "captain's aid" who cons even. Kill them and then you're going to backtrack a little and go south to an undead room.

The final guy is Hive Webmaster at -188, +1080. He's at the northern end of the large rectangular undead room. There are two drachnids near him, one can be pulled without agroing him but the other has to be fought with him (from what I can tell). After you kill them, the chest will appear at the end of the runway-looking path topside. Clear your way there.

Ending the mission:

This is screwy. The person who loots 1st (or possibly the person that opens the chest) must go to the two campfires in the NE corner of the zone (near the chest) at the main entrance from stoneroot. It took me a while to figure out that this sequence triggered the ending.

I've completed this mission 5 times now and all masks. I'm doing it for the dagger and I really hope they didn't take that item out.

If you want lables for these on your map, add this to your drachnidhive_2.txt file under Everquest/maps. Then make sure you have layer 2 visible from in game.

The campfires are at the north east part of the zone by the zoneline. If you head north east from the east building you'll reach them shortly.

Did this today with four people. The Illusionist glowered at me, but being a rogue I just used sneak from behind to do the hail. He turns toward you everytime you reply, so you have to move behind him again before saying the next key phrase.

Vilsrin was in the last nest as already reported. However after this dialogue:

he did not attack us, but begin to walk away. Having read the inital information here we tried to kill Vilsrin and foolishly chased him as he walked away. This brought many many more drachnid down on us and killed us all. Afterwards we realized that we did not have to kill him at all. Just kill the three elite guards that he commands to keep you busy. After that you can pretty much just move through to the Hive to the three named, killing as you go. The rest of the information here appears to be pretty acurate. Got very lucky and had the dagger drop on our first run, which was all I was after.

We chose Warrior, Cleric, Enchanter, Rogue and this would be the group I reccommend. The nameds usually have at least one add and can be difficult with only four people if one isn't an enchanter. Very fun mission and I might even run it again some time just for the fun.

Oh forgot to add, the three named mobs are:
The Hive Captain - forget exactly where we found him.
The Hive Summoner - was in the nest closest to the Stoneroot Falls zone.
The Hive Webmaster - was located in the reanimated section of the Hive. On my map he was in the large rectangular room to the left and above where the reanimation center was labeled.

did this mission today with a full group.

you get to play drachnids of various classes , all level 70 with around 20-45khp/mana. aviable classes are rough , cleric , warrior , wizard , enchanter , necromancer . all have some pretty nice spells and abbilitys and can hit from 1k double to 2,2k quad (3+k with crit).

first you have to go to the instanc entrance to the hive (near the dracnids). after zoning you are in a canyon and have time to sort your aa's/spells/abillitys out.

the next step requires you to find a certain mob (some named with V) and talk to him .... all mobs in the zone con kos but wont attack you. the named is in the last nest (the red things on the map) on the upper floor.

after talking to him, he will attack you (all the mobs in his room adding , depending how how far appart your party stands). he hits for about 5k max , all the other mobs in the zone for up to 1k. i think he quadded and enraged , not to shure on flurry or rampage (we died allot cause we where not ready for this. also , when you die , you will port in right under him .... so try to die all at the same time or train him out of the room).
next to killing him, you have to kill 3 nameds in the zone. all mobs are now kos and will attack, so you'll have to fight your way to each named.

the normal mobs are not realy hard , hiting for 1k and casting some low 5k spells (remember .... you are a drachnid with over 20khp) mostly you can handle 4-5 mobs easy with a full group.

one named is on the top floor of one of the nests, another by the undeads in the cave near the middle of the zone (brown on my map) and the last in the upper left cave near an instanced zone entrace (green on my map).
the 3 nameds hit pretty fast for up to 5,5k , some or all flurry/rampage/enrage (sumon dos everything in the zone anyway) and see trought the roughs sos. we needed some trys on each one but they are dooable , when you all die , you are set to the point of the first named again (the one you needed to talk). the zone dos not respawn , so everything you kill is gone for good.

when you have the 3 nameds , go to the zone out to stoneroot fals. near the zone is a chest with loot (a danger for us .... and no clas with us that could use it)

pircing , delay 21 , dam 17 , 12ac , 10 str/sta/wis/int/agi , 130hp , 125 mana/end , 9 save cold/magic/poison , 12% to backstab and a lifetapproc (100hp) "life sap 1" .... nodrop sadly so it rotted.

after looting and zoning out everyone got about 1aa. its all in all a pretty fun mission .... if you dont have a problem with spiders.
