This is the fourth task in a series of four (the end result being your 69th level spell/tome). It begins with Brovil Pallivineg in Corathus Creep (southeastern part of the zone: location -750, +375).

Once you've completed the previous three tasks in the series:

You say, 'Hail, Brovil Pallivineg'

Brovil Pallivineg says 'Cicero is alive _____! With that note you found I'm sure of it. Since it seems our efforts to find him have been discovered, finding your [way to him] will be considerably more difficult. If you would like to take [revisit] your previous findings let me know.'

You say, 'Way to him?'

Brovil Pallivineg says 'The hive cocoons are hidden away in the hive, much like the hatchery is. You'll have to fight yourway back through there in order to reach that area. Be careful when you enter there. They may have placed traps in addition to guards to thwart any rescue attempts.'

There are three versions of this task: Low level (for 67 and under), normal and hard. The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty of mobs.

You have been assigned the task 'Rescue Cicero!'.

You should be able to find a way into the cocoon without much trouble, given your experience with handling the drachnids. Hopefully Cicero's return is close at hand!

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Cocoons.

(Note: "The Cocoons" and "Coven of the Skinwalkers" are the same zone. Their names are used interchangeably.)

Find your way into the cocoon mentioned in the note 0/1 (The Hive)

The entrance to the instanced zone is located off the living bridges, the smaller of the two cocoons (the larger one being Queen Sendaii's lair).

Search the cocoon for any trace of Cicero 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)

Task Window Says: There must be some evidence of Cicero nearby, or possibly Cicero himself! See what you can find, but be careful! They likely know you're there.

NOTE: If you don't aggro and kill mobs in a certain way here, you can bug the task so that it becomes unwinnable.

In a room towards the top of the zone you'll find two drachnid guardians. Pull them out of the room and kill them (don't kill them where they spawn).

This spawns "Kalyth, the Keeper". Pull him out of the room and do not kill him until this step updates (it's supposed to update upon engage, but if you kill him so fast that the task doesn't have a chance to update, it bugs the task).

Slay Kalyth, the Keeper 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)

Task Window Says: Kalyth must have something to do with Cicero! Kill him and search the room!

Kalyth, the Keeper says 'You pathetic surface dwellers have no chance here. I will send your corpses to the hatchery and then finish off this gnome!'

Kalyth hits for a max ~1,400 (on normal) and enrages. He does NOT rampage or flurry, or cast any spells (on normal).

You have slain Kalyth, the Keeper!
Your faction standing with Scions of Dreadspire got worse.
Your faction standing with Shiliskin Empire got better.
Your faction standing with Free Traders of Malgrinnor got better.

Open the cocoon Kalyth was holding 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)

Open an aged cocoon in Kalyth's room in order to spawn Cicero.

Cicero Quikwire says 'By King Ak'Anon's grace, who might you be? Have those blasted drachnids gone?' Cicero looks around and yawns. 'Oh my, have I been inside one of those cocoons? I did wonder what it would be like in one of them. I can't remember anything about what it was like. Tell me the [drachnids] don't live here!'

You say, 'The drachnids live here..'

Cicero Quikwire says 'Oh dear, I've gotten myself in a real fuzbittily mess, haven't I? I was just wanting to see where that sporali was going and what his purpose was so I could complete my research. He stopped for a few ticks and I hid in a small cave so he wouldn't see me. That's when it [happened].'

You say, 'What happened?'

Cicero Quikwire says 'Seems I made the wrong decision, doesn't it? The cave I hid in was being used by drachnid spies I think. They hadn't seen many gnomes I suppose, which is likely why I was left alive. After discovering me they spun me into one of their stasis cocoons like the ones some shiliskin were trapped in for a very long time. Thank you for helping release me though, do you mind if I [follow] you out?'

Escort Cicero out of the cocoon 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)

You say, 'Follow us'

Cicero Quikwire says 'Ah thank you, thank you. Before we go do you mind if I check on a few things in here? I know it's a lot to ask, but after all this time, I should finish my research.'

Escort Cicero the zone-in. Be advised that he WILL open cocoons (a cocooned victim) that he finds and seems is "set" to open them, going out of his way to open one if you cleared some on the way up. Be aware that the zone does repop. Cocoons that Cicero open will spawn an add.

Cicero Quikwire says 'Now if I can just get a small sample of this cocoon. . .Oops!'

a freed drachnid says 'I shall wear your skin as a prize!'

Cicero Quikwire says 'I'm very sorry for that trouble, I promise to be more careful. Let's go ahead and get out of here!'

Cicero Quikwire says 'I thought this one looked different! I promise to be more careful with this one, no more surprises from me. . . after this one. . .'

Cicero Quikwire says 'That was definitely an unexpected result, I must make a note of this!' Cicero pulls out a scrap of paper and looks around for something to write with, 'Ah well, I suppose I'll remember it well enough to write about later. Let's get to that exit!'

Cicero Quikwire looks around before delivering a quick poke to the cocoon.

Cicero Quikwire says 'That one wasn't me! I swear! Uh. . . it was the elf!'

Cicero Quikwire pulls off a bit of the silk from the cocoon and quickly hides it in a pocket.

Cicero Quikwire says 'Hey! Those cocoons on the ground could be a different type, I must get one last sample before we leave.'

Cicero Quikwire says 'I promise this is the last one. . . Really!. . . Don't you believe me?'

Cicero Quikwire says 'To the exit! I have enough samples now to keep me busy for a day or two at least and I must get caught up on what has happened while I've been away.'

Cicero Quikwire says 'Thank you for rescuing me and for your help in gathering these samples. I'm sure with these and enough time I can figure out how the stasis cocoons work. I think I can get myself out from here though. Thanks again!'

As he makes it to the entrance:

Cicero is free once again! The gnomes will undoubtably be excited to see him returned to them after so long. Return to Brovil and give him the good news.

A chest spawns with one item. As well, everyone in the task receives an automatic reward.

Possible chest loot after a win:
(hard) Crystalline Webbing of Diminishment
(hard) Crystalline Webbing of Precision
(hard) Drachnid Focusing Lens
(hard) Spun Drachnid Silk Robe
(normal) Bony Dark Web Ring
(normal) Drachnid Signet Shield

(normal) Hivegrime Stone of Cunning
(lower-level) ????

Random/Rare possible trash drops:
(normal) Drachnid Leg
(normal) Tainted Sword of Blood
(hard) Hive Cocoon Carrier Brace

(Optional) Return to Brovil and let him know about Cicero 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)

Task Window Says: It looks like Cicero is still himself. You'll have to return to Brovil alone and let him know the good news. Hopefully Cicero can keep himself out of trouble this time.

You say, 'Hail, Brovil Pallivineg'

Brovil Pallivineg says 'That's wonderful news, though I fear for his safety wandering off like that again. I don't suppose there is anything that can be done to stop him though. He always was one to explore.'

For your 69th level spell:

You say, 'Hail, Brother Hidden Path'

Brother Hidden Path says 'Ah yes, Jarzarrad told me you were coming again Human. One of our acolytes located a scrap of parchement that radiates with dark energy. I believe it is another page of the Shadowspine tome. I have translated its arcane power for you, Jarzarrad has said that you will have need of it.'

Bard - Skill: Dance of a Thousand Blades
Beastlord - Skill: Empathic Fury
Berserker - ????
Cleric - Spell: Chromastrike
Druid - Spell: Spore Spiral
Enchanter - Spell: Colored Chaos

You can do any of these tasks over again by speaking with Brovil:

You say, 'Hail, Brovil Pallivineg'

Brovil Pallivineg says 'Welcome back _____! I can't tell you how much we appreciate your efforts to learn the fate of Cicero. You have the gratitude of all the gnomes here. If you ever want to go [back over] your adventures, just let me know.'

This broken for anyone else? We can't complete the second step.

"Search the Cocoon for any trace of Cicero"

We kill the 2 Guardians, named pops.

Kill named, Cocoon pops, and we open it and the damn Gnome pops out.

Follow him, he escapes, chest pops.

Fail...

Am I missing something?

************EDIT**********

I tried again (3rd time) but this time I pulled the Guards out before killing so Kalyth didn't agro as soon as he popped. And Bingo, worked easy.

Wish I had read this comment sooner - still seems to be bugged if you kill Kalyth where he spawns (which puts him right on top of where cocoon spawns). Without the update for opening the cocoon you won't be able to complete quest. Doesn't seem the guardians respawn either.

Make sure you pull him clear of the room - you will get an update at that point (before you kill him). After you kill him you will get another update and an aged cocoon spawns. Target it, /open and you will get your next another update.

Kinda late on my reply, but mercs will not heal anything/anyone outside of your group. Players and NPC's alike.

I 3 box this mission with 80 cleric, 77 bl, 77 wiz. All 3 are anguish type geared or less. invis to top name. Kill two mobs in room with him, then him. Med up. /open the cocoon to spawn npc. The key now if this is a hard mission for you is to not say Follow yet. Once you've opened the npc's cacoon he will attack any spiders that come close, but he won't start walking of and getting adds until you say follow. Havent timed this but you have atleast 5 minutes to say follow. I pull the two spiders outside, the roamer, and then run on up ramp to left and pull all three of these spiders. "Only two come at once". I pull them right into the name room and tank one or both and the npc owns these spiders. Watch his life then pull more down too him. You can take breaks as needed as the npc stays put. After top room is clear I say "Follow" and the fun starts. Mission isn't difficult now. Always watch npc's life and keep him alive. Other post on this mission are correct and very helpful on the rest.
tough mission.

group makeup for this was sk, pally, cleric, rogue, bard, necro. all of us over level 70. we spent two hours just all of us getting inside the damn instance, and even there we had a half hour of pulls, adds, rezzes and med times. finally managed to invis the group up to the top, while killing roamers on our way.
you'll find, at the top of the ramp, a room with 3 spiders, and a room with 2 spider guardians, light blue to a 73. kill the two outside of the small hut, then kill the two spider guardians in the hut. put your group on the ramp in front of the final room. after the named spawned, i pulled the 3 spiders in the final room before engaging the named.
the named -CAN- be slowed, by a bard, even. he was an easy fight. after that, a cocoon spawns where the named dies, and the stupid ass gnome begins his jolly rampage across the zone.
its best to precede his stupid arse and pull the rooms in advance, or else you'll get 3 mobs at once. then he'll walk into the rooms and look at cocoons. the mobs that spawn from them are weak.
we had a problem with low mana the entire mission. since the gnome can't be mezzed , i found snaring him with Selo's constant chain and circle kiting him in a cleared room up the ramp while the group meds away from aggro range, was very effective. when he gets to ground level he'll head to the pillar in the middle with the 3 spiders, be prepared for this. from there he'll head to the exit.

WTF is that all about? we wiped because we couldn't get aggro off of us, even after 15 or 20 wipes we couldn't shake it. What kind of person makes a quest mob aggro like that? or is this just me? And it was right from the time we popped him from the cocoon.
cicero aggros????!??!?!

Just did both 68.x and 69.x missions for warrior and others.
War got same Tome after 69.4 as the 69.5 reward: Commanding Voice. As it is no drop... deleted in my case but good to know you can select which missions you do for that reward.

Finally, after 3 months wait I got this task done. We won on the first try, but not for trying to loose! We did an easy, so your mileage may vary.

Things I learned about this task:
1) Named summons, not sure about other mobs but didn't see them do it.
2) Cicero CANNOT be mezed. he was LB to me and could not be mezed by bloodcurdling shriek (necro mez) and gave back the "cannot be mezed" message.
3) cicero CAN be rooted!

Not sure about mind wipe, we didn't try on him. When the trouble hit the fan, I just rooted Cicero and kept him rooted for about 15 mins while we rezed back up, killed the roamer and got buffed up. After others had all invised and zoned to clear agro, i just FDd him off and on we went to finish.

Moral of the story: bring a competent necro.

While necros do have an undead only line of mezzes, the bloodcurdling shriek spell he mentions is a long overdue upgrade to screaming terror. They work on any mob that is mezzable within the level limit.

Cicero is indeed not mezzable. He used to be, but was changed a while back. They way to control him now is with root and memblur.

have ench with 70 mezz... go to top spawn named like other post said he is unslowable.. then u can just follow gnome when we walks into room...ench should be able to mezz 2 mobs rooms have 3 in them... if repops in way just kill em again.. i waited till wonderer repoped from named room and killed it plus the 2 guards out side then i did /say commands for gnome to make him move to top room the key to this mission is a pally.sk imo spell arrgo fast
before mob gnome is on is dead... break mezz on another mob next to it so gnome doesnt wonder off same thing till room is dead... then he goesopens a cacoon and spawns one more
same thing for first top 2 rooms

last 2 rooms he skipped we just killed wonderer so we didnt have to clear those.. when hes at bottom of ramp u can either pull middle 3 mobs to u or u can root gnome and pull those 3 (some reason mob ignored when we pulled right next to him and we wiped cuz he ran into more mobs....

so next time im rooteing that little man then pullin middle then memblur him 3 times with cleric spell and then go on to out

if ur gonno task add someone do it right before he zones out or u can root him task add and memblur him fast

thats my 2cp

No such thing. Bards get a mezz at seventieth level, but Enchanters don't.

if u do this strag it took us 45 mins to get all there and buffed (someone got lost) and took 5 mins to get to top an dmake sure all rdy and 20 mins to get to bottom so short mission if u know were its at really (NE instance on map) not top one the one on the east side above zone in a lil off living bridges .... to get there u can either lev or u can do it another if u get bugged there like me and fall ... go down 2 ramps in tower... before u go down all the way on second ramp u see a tunnel... (this is were i always see a see invis sometimes its not) but wait for wonderer to walk and see if its see invis if its not good for u if it is wait for it to walk away from tunnel and run past it (or have a bard in there and mezz it while u run past) also in that tunnel theres is a web sometimes it will be a trap snare u and make u lose invis so careful and watch out for it if thers a mob wonderer ing there wait for it to move away before u go past it... then u go up spirals half way get on bridge then go first right and there you go... gratz

This is considered to be one of the harder missions by some, but a good strategy can make this one of the easiests.

First of all, you don't need a mezzer really. Of course it helps, but it's no MUST have. You will need a memblur class, but since most groups have a cleric anyways, you're good to go.

Invis up to the top, like everyone says. On the top, don't bother clearing the siderooms. Just clear the wanderers and then the 2 guards outside the middle room.

Clear the mobs inside the middle room, make sure to pull them onto the walkway, so that you can med up before the named, and not have him pop right on you.

Pop the gnome, and follow him out. He will go left (up) first. Now here's the trick... Don't wait for the gnome to enter the top room. Instead, pull one of the 2 closest spiders out (with snare preferably). 2 mobs will come, root park one, kill the other.

Now let the gnome go into the room, kill the last mob and open the pod to pop another (and kill it).

The same deal for the next room... when the gnome is halfway down the walkway towards it, pull the front mob (2 will come), root park one etc etc...

The rest of the way down is not so hard... just make sure you pull the wanderer in the middle walkway before you pass the 3rd room. You don't want the gnome to agro that wanderer right outside that room!

When you're almost at the bottom, pull the mobs from the middle of the ground floor onto the walkway. This will make your final fights in the center easier.

If the gnome get's low on health, root park it and let it regen.

This strategy works 100% everytime I try it...
I hope it will do the same for you...

PS. I noticed that hard mode also repopped the mobs quicker, can someone confirm/deny this?

Thanks for this post. Gave me a concrete idea on how to success this mission without a *mezzer*.
We went with a group of six: WAR/CLR(box), BST(me)/DRU(box), CLR & NEC.
Followed all your notes but added the BST pet pulls to clear each room, DRU & NEC were rooting and distracting Cicero while the rest kept working on keeping the tank up :3
The only hairy part was after killing the named and clearing the upper room from there, some repops got us so we had to deal with 2 & 3 mobs hitting tank and me >,<
Hope this helps as well. Pretty easy if everyone works in team :3

We did this mission without any problems on normal, tried hard only difference appeared to be dps by mobs.

All 70, cleric, warrior (9.5k full buff and 6aa), Bst, Necro, Wiz, Chanter.

First off getting there is easy zone to the hive get levitate and run up the side of the wall oposite living bridge. Once you are high enough you can follow the wall around the the living bridge to enterance.

Zone in invis and run all they way up ramp to just short the room where the second stop is for the gnome. Kill the 2 roamers then the 2 gaurds. Then Kill the 2 in the bosses room and kill the boss. At this time we went up to the first room and cleared it out. While we did this on the last one the necro ran down and popped the gnome who walked up and pop first cacoon. After we killed the first spider this is where it gets interesting. The necro aggro'd the gnome Cicero on purpose. The necro kept his attention while we cleared the next room. As soon as that was done he stayed FD while Cicero poped the next wave. Clean that out. Continue in that fashion with necro keeping Cicero busy aggroing him /fd etc while you go ahead and clear mobs. Can do this while medding too. As the cleric I never had to heal the necro just hit Divine Arb when he needed it and got close enough. Otherwise if we where fighting a spider Cicero would help while the necro FD. As long as there is a spider that isnt mezed and he walks near he will fight it. So easy necro aggro's cicero while you clear until next wave point. Worked like a charm and only had one death at the end when at the bottom a roamer aggro'd while we where meding and ownd the bst.

If you have a chanter and you need to med, mezz one of the freed drachnids that Cicero releases. Cicero will stop and stand there and won't attack. However, if the freed drachnid wakes up, Cicero will attack and will then awaken the mezzed mob if you try to mezz again.

Tried this AFTER Cicero was released and on his way back to the bottom. He will stop along the way and "investigate" cocoons. When the spiders pop from these cocoons, mez this spider - instant and prolonged CC on Cicero - as long as this lone spider is his only agro, he stands there and stares at the mezzed spider for as long as you can keep it mezzed. Cicero did catch agro from a pull later on and joined in the fray until it was killed - then just stood there until we decided to kill the original mezzed mob. Hope this little trick helps.

can also be done without mez'ing.
Just have a puller bring one right before the other one dies. Always one in camp, cicero will help kill it. He is tough. Can take more hits than people give him credit for.
He hits for 1k, and with 4 spiders on him, killed one before they killed him.

The clicky is from a related quest called Depths of Darkhollow. You get a clicky +50 resist buff for each step in the quest one step is the 69 level spell arc. So Melees who do not actually get a disciple from this arc, still should do it for the clicky. (BTW casters get the clicky too)

a bit of info on this mission. if yuo donot have high enough DPS you will end up with more mobs than you started with, though we had a really good group set up, chanter, cleric, pally, sk, monk, and BL. All did really well on the 69.2 that we did before this one, but spawns were really fast (10-15mins maybe?) invised to top like all others had said, killed roamers and went for named, had a few dead onlong the way so that slowed us up alot. once we got all repops, the puller noticed that we had 2 named. while medding to attempt, all had repopped and there were now 4 roamers instead of 2. was like all that had respawned spawned twice as many. took near 2 hours to get to that point, and at which point we had more mobs in zone than we started with. just an FYI. TAKE HIGH DPS WITH YOU, and maybe a second healer, oh yeah and a good puller, and good CC a must have

Wow ... what a win ... messy ... but fun!

Group members:
Vileatorr, SK
Nemuel, ENC
Joogss, BST
Pepaul, CLR
Zinda, NEC
Tyleza, DRU

***

We zone into the Hive, invis to the top. Group proceeds to kill the spiders until the named spawned. Killed named (unslowable). After medding to about 70m (3 mins or so), Vileatorr got the gnome to follow.

We're proceeding well, until the gnome starts to wander off. Zinda (nec) roots the gnome - - root breaks ... gnome kills her. Mob fell over ramp, next thing I know Vileatorr (sk) and Pepaul (clr) die. I (dru) watch Cicero (gnome) fight a spider, Cicero is at 30% ... I nuke the spider, spider dies.

Situation ... Cicero is at 23%. SK, CLR and NEC are dead. I chain-clicky root Cicero. Enc drags the three corpses to me (I am on the ramp in the middle). I druid-rez the clr. Clr rezzes the nec and the sk. The bst casts paragon. enc, bst and I buff the fallen. The nec chain casts mana pump on the clr. I keep chain rooting Cicero. enc then blurs Cicero ... Cicero regens to full health.

We are good to go!

We proceed cautiously down the ramp. Enc mezzes adds, whenever Cicero runs away, either the nec or I root him, then enc blurs him.

sk breaks the mez of adds when the spider we're on is just about dead. clr keeps everyone alive (and then some).

We continue to kill spiders down the ramp, kill a few more at the bottom of the ramp and we win!

Rush of spiders, we all zone to safety (after winning) ... only one person died in that rush.

We invis, run back in and win our item rewards.

The chest loot was:
Drachid Focusing Lens
Aug, slots 7,8
Focus Effect: Chromatic Fury V
ear, head, face, neck, shoulders, arms, back, wrist, range, hands, primary, secondary, fingers, chest, legs, feet, waist

required level: 70
all/all

Increase the amount of damage done by Chromatic spells by up to 25 percent. This effect works on spells up to level 70.

Solvent XVII to remove safely.

....

All in all, a damn good fight and /whew on the win!!

Moral of the Story: Don't give up ... Use all you got !!!

/cheers
Tyleza

... and thanks to the best tank {Vileatorr) and enc (Nemuel) !!!!!!!!

This spell for paladins has no chance to heal.

You may have been thinking of the beta version of the spell, used to be a level 70 spell, it was 5% chance to resist, and which did indeed have a death save sort of effect. However this was removed exactly one day before the expansion went live, it was lowered in level to 69, chance to resist increased to 10% and death save effect was removed, and we are left with this extremely short duration, limited use buff.

You provided a link to Lucy too, I'm surprised you didn't bother to read the spell description more carefully.

Silent Piety
Mana: 300
Effect: Increase Chance to Resist Spell by 10%
Duration: 15 minutes

This spell really isn't that useful anymore. Sure it has uses, but for the most part this spell is not going to get memmed too often.

The biggest problem we had was aggroing Cicero. found the necro could root him and FD. Also the cleric could cast Atone three times to remove it. He will aggro on anyone who casts a heal or buff on anyone aggroed, meaning dont heal the FD necro after he is rooted. Camp if you have to, but dont zone if he is up top or he will jump off after you.
We invised to the top, killed the 10 mobs and named, then spawned Cicero, learned and fought our way down, rooting him to clear the path.

Bugged atm...
# Dec 23 2005 at 7:42 PM Rating: Decent
FYI...

you can still complete this...but it is bugged.

If you are too slow in activating cicero and starting back down...since all the mobs respawn, the guards in Kaylith's room respawn also.

If you kill another guard...another Kaylith will spawn. If you kill both guard repops, 2 Kaylith's will spawn. Lots of fun. Ad infititum i suspect.

So If you kill Kaylith but lose one or more folks...have to figure out a way to rez on the fly, you cant wait or you will end up with repoped guards and when cicero aggros these, possibly multiple kaylith's repopping.

Enjoy.

Not a lot of information out there about this mission, so here goes:

ALL of the mobs respawn in this zone. So attempting to make the escort of Cicero easier by clearing the entire zone is pointless. It's best to go ahead and invis yourself to the top of this zone. At the top, there is a bridge that goes across. At either end of this bridge is a room, each with 3 drachnids and a few cocoons inside of them. In the middle of this bridge are 2 drachnids that stand there, guarding a little mini bridge that extends from the middle of the bridge towards a 3rd room (maybe a hut would be a better description). Inside the hut are 2 more drachnids. That is the hut where Kalyth, the Keeper will spawn.

To prepare, if you have a decent DPS group, clear the 2 rooms that have 3 drachnids on either side of the bridge, and the 2 drachnids that are standing guard in the middle of the bridge. Also kill the 2 wanderers. That's 10 drachnids altogether.

TIP: if you have a mezzer, it seemed to us that mezzing one of the mobs to start with would single pull the other mob, which was very handy with no pull class. We would only then have to deal with one drachnid at a time, even if the room had 3 in it.

Then enter the hut with the two drachnids and kill those 2 inside. After killing those 2, Kalyth will spawn. He hits a little bit harder than the trash, but nothing too nasty. He is unslowable!! When he dies, a named cocoon will spawn at the spot he dies in. If you open that cocoon, you will have Cicero. You have to go through a short series of text with him. When you are done, he marches around the top floor, going inside of all 3 of the top camps. This is why it's good to clear those rooms. If you do not, you will be dealing with 3 at a time. He does stop to open a cocoon or two as he marches down to the bottom floor. We were surprised that he didn't enter the other 2 side rooms on the way down to the bottom floor. On the bottom floor he wandered to the middle 3 spawns and aggrod those guys. After that he opened a cocoon. And then he went to the zone out, gave his thank you spiel, and popped a chest.

Cicero is a warrior mob, but he hits pretty hard, around 1k dps according to my parses. He's also fairly durable, and can tank a mob for a little bit solo if it's an emergency.

One other little tip, if you are mezzing adds, Cicero likes to wander off. He aggros on mobs that are unmezzed though. So a good way to get him back on mobs that you have mezzed is to break the mezz and drag them over near Cicero. He then goes to town! The only bad side of having Cicero is that he will take the experience away from your group sometimes. I believe it's on the same rules that pets go on, if he deals more than half, then no exp for you. I'm not sure about that though.

Hope this helps.
