This is a group mission which begins in Corathus Creep with Brovil Pallivineg. It is also an integral part of the Dreadspire Keep Access Quest.

Find Crim Sprinklcog and Mazil Hibbinap in Corathus Creep at -715, +385, -45.

There is a normal and a hard version of this mission.

You say, 'Hail, Crim Sprinklcog'

Mazil Hibbinap says 'He's not able to talk with you right now, though I wish he were. We could really use some [help] in figuring out what happened to the rest of his party. He's the only one with firsthand knowledge of the events. Hopefully he'll wake up soon.'

(or)

You say, 'Hail, Mazil Hibbinap'

Mazil Hibbinap says 'Welcome to our camp, Weolyen. You must be another one of the surface dwellers I've seen about down here. Truly you must be a brave person to venture so far down. We could use the [help] of one such as you.'

You say, 'What kind of help?'

Mazil Hibbinap says 'I should fill you in a bit on what's happened and what we know so far, before you commit yourself to something you might regret. When people started arriving from the surface we were visited by Crim here and his friends. They were astonished to find us down here and promised to do what they could to help us. . . just as soon as they explored a bit. They left our camp and then I guess it [happened].'

You say, 'What happened?'

Mazil Hibbinap says 'I heard a commotion and went to investigate. I found a bloody gnome stumbling about the camp with a panicked look on his face. When we realized it was Crim we rushed to aid him. He spouted gnomerish, or uhm, gibberish, and then just fell over. Most of the [information] we have is from his periodic mumbling and rants.'

You say, 'What information?'

Mazil Hibbinap says 'It seems the gnomish friends were down around the great lake somewhere when they were set upon by a large band of drachnids. Unable to hold out long, the party was shortly overcome and bound in webbing. The details are a bit foggy here, but it seems while they were binding Crim up the drachnids were attacked by a group of shiliskins. During the battle Crim was able to slip out and escape. We believe the drachnids drove off or defeated their attackers and then the friends were [taken].'

You say, 'Taken?'

Mazil Hibbinap says 'Most of my brethren believe they were taken to serve as food for the drachnids. I, however, am not quite so ready to give up on them. I would like to know their fate for certain before abandoning them. If you would be [willing] to search the Hive for me I would be most grateful.'

You say, 'I am willing'

Response if too low level:

Mazil Hibbinap says 'Now that I've had a chance to take a closer look at you, I'm afraid I don't know that you'd be able to survive the rescue attempt. Gain a bit more experience and see me again.'

What is required in order to avoid this response?

Proper response:

Mazil Hibbinap says 'You will likely have to search the cocoons you find in the Hive. I suspect it will be difficult to tell what is inside them otherwise. If you would like a starting point for your search, I might suggest checking the drachnid hatchery. I have heard stories too terrible to relate of prisoners being taken there.'

An overview:

Head to the Hive and find the zone-in to The Hatchery (Normal) or Living Larder (Hard), both located in the same spot, in a cavern in the North West of the Hive. The safest route to the instance seems to be via the 3rd cocoon on the Living Bridges, although one has to be careful of web traps.

There are no respawns in this instance of the zone. As you kill spiders, open the cocoons, randomly a gnome will pop out of the cocoon...

Sizz Kipcoil
Alizis Parbrind
Terrzin Wirecrimp
Foddin Slipstring

You say `Hail, Sizz Kipcoil'

Sizz Kipcoil says `Thank heavens you've found me! I've been terrified of what those drachnids had in store for me. You can't believe the things I've heard through that cocoon. Please let me [follow] you out!'

You say `Follow me'

Sizz Kipcoil says `Let's get going! I'll follow right behind you. Please let me know if you need me to [stop]. I wouldn't want to cause you any trouble.

When you reach the zone-out...

Sizz Kipcoil says 'Thank you for helping me escape, I don't know what I would have done without your help!'

Sometimes the gnome won't make it...

Terrzin Wirecrimp collapses to the ground as a drachnid bursts forth from his corpse!

Whoops! No matter.. your task updates anyway. You did the best you could.

Once the forth and last gnome reaches the zone-out (or dies)...

Though you were only able to help two of the gnomes escape it was the best you could have done. Return to Mazil and let him know the fate of the gnomes.

You gain experience!!

You have been given: Gold and Platinum Twined Necklace (3rd part to the Dreadspire Keep Key).

A chest will spawn containing...

Possible Hard Rewards:
* Blood Shard Earring
* Crystalline Webbing of Absorbing
* Crystalline Webbing of Willpower
* Tiptop Chopper
* Web Chain Greaves

Possible Normal Rewards:

Some mission details
# Oct 03 2005 at 7:19 PM Rating: Excellent
I just did this mission last night for the first time and this is how it went:
I dont know the way to the zone it but it was a long run and all invis. We went down a bunch of ramps downstairs in the basement somewhere.
When we zoned into the instance there is a small safe area right there for medding and buffing up. The mobs are on par as far as magic resist with DON lvl 70 mission for Creator. On my first pull the war engaged with about 10000 HP but only 1700 AC and dropped to 37pct health on the first round. cleric and druid were fast healing like mad and rest of us were stunning and whatnot along with dps to get him down. The mobs hit for an average of 1600 a pop on me with 1648 AC and quad hit quite often.
The tank survived the first mob just barely and we regrouped for the 2nd mob. The war said he was mostly VT geared and my opinion was we had to do something different because this was not working. I pulled the 2nd mob and the war dropped in the 2nd round I think because the mob was still at 98pct health. Necro had most aggro and the mob (snared) started chasing him. It was then that we figured out that that this could be an effective Kite mission as nobody got summoned.
We all piled on the dots and arrows and whatnot and the mob was dead lickety-split. The war got discouraged and canceled his rez and summoned his corpse to the guild hall graveyard and left the group. He wasnt blaming anybody but just figured this was out of his league. We invited a very good ranger who joined us in progress, and that massively increased our dps on our kite mission.
All of the mobs were Drachnid type mobs and there was a mix of melee and caster types. Every one was yellow to 70 but none of them summoned. The Inquisitor type was the one that did the AOE dot though. It was named Drachnid Web or something like that and ticked very fast. About 1000 a tick and we lost a caster to the dot. Not everyone was in the AOE range and I immediately put my lute up and sat to max regen but only survived the 60 second dot with some timely heals from the ranger. As the cleric was busy with the rest of the group and the necro was tapping back health from the drachnid being kited and solo-kited it for that minute.
After we cleared some drachnids from the middle room we were able to /open the cocconed victims as the drachnids were usually pre-positioned to guard over them. There were 10 victims and only four had the named halfling dudes in them and the rest were either:
1. Another drachnid
2. A KOS fish-dude that occasionally drops an aug
3. nothing
We used the main middle room for kiting and I pulled drachnids from both the north small room and the south big room. I just cleared the roamers first and then took out the 'victim guards' next. I had to use fade memories several times to split mobs for single pulls but our 70 chanter was able to mez some occasionally as needed. I pulled with resist debuff and then snare if I thought it was a single and with resist debuff-snare-fade-reaggro 1 if there were 2.
At the end after rescuing the last halfling we all received a different aug on our pointer. Mine as a bard was an AC15 aug. Casters got +2 spell resist and so on. A chest popped near the zone-in and it had the chain class helm. I will update with details on it later but basically it was 120 hp with appropriate stats very similar to the DON one for lvl 70 ppl. Nobody wanted it so I think somebody looted it for guildbank points.
The mission took almost two hours and I got almost 3AA.
loot & and what to do with gold and platinum neck

The reward for the successful completion of this mission was we all got an item on our curser, 6 chests spawned containing one item each and the stated reward in the mission dialog box. What I want to know is there something that needs to be done with the item. Its a Gold and Platinum twined necklace no drop and not equipable

We did a hard and our other drops were mellees got a cloak was like 130 hps or so AC18 and other stats, Casters got a necklace

in the chests were: 20 AC augment (melee classes) x2, 7 AC and other stats earring ALL ALL x2, 20 mana/2%spell shield augment (caster classes) and a 1hand slash sword. I imagine the chest loot is somewhat random.

Hmm. That sounds like a spell quest mission ... but can't say which level.

Do the chest contains match to your group setup (2 Melee's, the right amount of caster, Priests and hybrids)? If yes, then it seems to be the start of a spell mission series ...

It's a group mission, you can choose normal or hard, I didn't have a group at the time so no further info yet.

70 not too low
# Sep 15 2005 at 8:59 AM Rating: Decent
I was able to get his Task list at 70. I had Slipgear's Gem (finished exploring Corathus Creep) and had zoned into next zone over a couple of times. Maybe you need the Augment to get this?

Nope, just need about 3-4 people I believe. Don't need Slipgear's Gem. (War didn't have and got in easily)

i hailed this guy today at level 70 (sk, indiff faction, first time in the expansion) followed the text (without having seen this quest) and was able to get the quest itself... which is a selection of 2 missions.
both missions have identical descriptions (and i would guess goals) but one says says (hard) next to it.

the quest is to go to the drachnid lair and find his lost companions

That would be a likely assumption with the data we have on this already.
