This task begins in the Plane of Knowledge with Castlen Drewe, who can be found across from the Soulbinder (/loc?). It is one of seven tasks introduced for players from level 10 to 20.
You say, 'Hail, Castlen Drewe' Castlen Drewe says 'Greetings and welcome. I have been compiling reports from all over Norrath! There are many odd jobs to be done by someone like you. Would you be interested in such a [quest]?' Explore the Highpass zone-in from Kithicor Forest. Kill three orcs and three gnolls (any type) and return to the Plane of Knowledge. Speak with Castlen and receive your reward: A Highpass Signet. You say, 'Hail, Castlen Drewe' Your task 'Protecting the High Pass' has been updated. I have already received word of the excellent work you have done out there in the field. Take this necklace as a token of our appreciation. You gain experience!! Highpass Hold is made to withstand attacks, however lately things have been getting rather heated between the relentless onslaught from both the orcs and gnolls that besiege the hold. I have just received word from the guard captain out there, and he is requesting assistance. Take the portal to Rivervale and travel through Kithikor to the hold. I would go during daylight hours if I were you!

I play an ogre who is kill on sight in Rivervale/Misty Thicket so I entered Highpass Hold from Blightfire Moors. The quest itself is easy: kill any three orcs, kill any three gnolls, zone into Kithicor Forest and wander towards the forest. Bingo, done! I stayed here for all of level 19 and dinged 20 in hopes that a Polished Granite Tomahawk would drop but I never saw the right mob.
Upon returning to the PoK:
