This group task begins with Savil Tranquilsong in the Butcherblock Mountains. He is located just outside the passage leading to Greater Faydark (approximate location -1285, +2500).

The task's mob levels and rewards scale based on the level of your group (up to level 70, though there is no maximum level limit for requesting the task).

You say, 'Hail, Savil Tranquilsong'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'The blessing of Quellious upon you ______, Are you on your way to the [estate], or have you come to confront the many dangers of the cauldron?'

You say, 'I am on my way to the estate.'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'Ah, the cursed undead there are truly a wretched bunch. Those grounds were not always that way, you know. Once it was a beacon for hope and worship to my goddess, and I hope to see it as such again. Would you care to hear the [tale] of the estate?'

You say, 'What tale?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'The estate was originally built by a cleric of Quellious, named Calim Malsiv. It was to be a great outpost for the glory of Quellious. From there Calim was going to spread the word of the goddess to all on Faydwer. Indeed all was going well until that [fateful day].'

You say, 'What fateful day?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'It all began with a dwarf from Kaladim that found himself in some trouble about the same time that Calim began his construction of Unrest. The dwarf's name was Garanel Rucksif. To all who knew him he was a peaceful and hard working dwarf. He held a prestigious position within the Kaladim mining guild, and had a loving family. No one who knew him would have ever conceived that he would be capable of [what he did].'

You say, 'What did he do?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'One day, he seemed to completely lose his mind, little is known about what caused this though I personally suspect the hand of Innoruuk was involved. In a fit of blind rage and hatred, he murdered his wife and three children. As news of this horror spread, the citizens of Kaladim were outraged and fearful of the crazed dwarf and began to take up arms, meaning to bring their own [judgment] down upon Garanel for his actions.'

You say, 'What judgment?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'I can only imagine he was to be put to death by their vengeful hands. That was not what happened though. Garanel must have heard the whispers and even in his rage realized he must leave his homeland or face his own death. He wandered the mountains for some time and eventually found himself by the water of Dagnor's Cauldron. From there it was not long before he found himself on the grounds of the Estate of Unrest. Calim happened upon Garanel, as he sought a place to hide, and heard his confused and twisted tale. With his faith in Quellious and peace, Calim sought to aid the dwarf and took him into the mansion. What [happened] next is almost too terrible to tell.'

You say, 'What happened?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'Calim and Garanel climbed to the top of the tower, along with several of Calim's own kin. There they began to talk about what had happened and see what they could do to discover the cause of the madness and what could be done about it. Unfortunately before they could overcome the problem, Garanel's madness rose once again. In a fury beyond anything you can dream, Garanel tore through Calim's kin before finally turning on [Calim] himself.'

You say, 'What of Calim?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'Calim called upon Quellious for aid in that moment, but was not quick enough. No force could stop Garanel then. The enraged dwarf slaughtered Calim, but as Calim's blood spread on the floor, the attention of Quellious was drawn fully to the estate. Upon seeing the devastation of her loyal followers, Quellious cursed Garanel and the entire estate along with him. It was a terrible curse that endures to this day. However, it is my [mission] to see this curse undone.'

You say, 'What mission?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'It is my belief that if we could travel through time and undo the deaths of Calim and his kin, that the curse will never come to pass. To this end I have been studying portal spells in hopes of finding a way back to that day. I believe I have finally succeeded, but have discovered a new [snare] in my plans.'

You say, 'What snare?'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'While I believe I can travel back to that fateful day, I doubt I have the power to stop Garanel myself. Wait. . . if you are [willing], we might be able to work together and fulfill my mission.'

You say, 'I am willing.'

Savil Tranquilsong says 'Bless you ______. I will activate the portal so that you may use it. Travel back and see to it that Garanel is unable to complete his bloody work.'

You have been assigned the task 'The Curse Begins'.

Accept the task. You receive Savil's Wand, with one charge of Savil's Time Portal.

Speak with Savil's assistant 0/1 (Dagnor's Cauldron)

My apprentice, Nisha Lightbrook, has instructions to help you through the gate. Speak with her when you arrive in the cauldron. Make sure you hold on to this wand, it is your ticket home. Best of luck to you in this effort.

Zone into Dagnor's Cauldron. At this point your shared task will update, and your compass will reflect a green line similar to other DoN-era missions.

Follow the compass to the island in the middle of the cauldron. Calim's assistant, Nisha Lightbrook is waiting for you there. She does not respond to hails, however, once all of your party arrives for the mission, have each individual say "I am ready" and she will port you into the instanced version of Unrest.

You say, 'I am ready.'

Nisha Lightbrook says 'May the blessings of Quellious go with you on your endeavor.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT ...
You have entered The Estate of Unrest: The Curse Begins.

Stop Garanel from killing Calim Malsiv 0/1 (Estate of Unrest)

Hurry to top of the tower in the mansion, there isn't much time. I can only hope my calculations were correct and you have arrived in time to stop the deaths of Calim and his kin.

One party member must reach Garanel's live version, along with the corpses of Calim and his kin out on the balcony (where the Knight of Unrest spawns in the normal zone).

Once you reach them a zone-wide text will go into play:

A celestial voice echoes around the mansion, 'What have you done Garanel? I came to my cleric's call, only to find his blood on your hands! Treachery such as this will not go unpunished.'

Garanel shouts, 'Do your worst! None can stand against me and there is nothing you can do to stop me!'

The voice returns, 'You shall reap the fruits of your labor, dwarf. You will never leave these grounds again. Let this serve as an eternal reminder to all your treachery and murder.'

At this point all of the roaming followers of Quellious depop and the zone repops with dark blue to yellow con KoS mobs.

A cold wind blows through the estate as the sounds of activity and worship dwindle. Suddenly the sounds of clattering bones and tearing earth can be heard.

The voice icily states, 'You are not above this curse either, dwarf. You will spend eternity deprived of your mortal coil. Go seek whatever hole you would hide in fiend!'

Garanel howls with rage before snatching something from Calim's corpse and dissipating with the wind. . .

Your task 'The Curse Begins' has been updated.

Retrieve the holy symbol of Quellious from the gazebo 0/1 (Estate of Unrest)

Retrieve the Book of Knowledge from the balcony 0/1 (Estate of Unrest)

Retrieve Calim's Medallion of Quellious from Garanel Rucksif 0/1 (Estate of Unrest)

Destroy Garanel's ghost 0/1 (Estate of Unrest)

Regrettably we were not fast enough to save Calim, however, you should be able to collect several ancient artifacts while you are there. These artifacts have been lost for ages and would prove a great boon if they were returned.

There was a holy symbol that was said to have blessed the gazebo outside the mansion. You might start there in your search for it.

There was also a book detailing many of the original tenants of my faith. It would be a most precious thing if you could find it for me. According to my research Calim often ventured out on to the balcony of the roof of the house in order to study it.

Before he fled it appears that Garanel stole Calim's Medallion of Quellious. Hopefully you will find it on him when you confront him. It is my hope that by eliminating him at the start of the curse we may be able to dilute the effects as time moves forward.

Your quest is now to collect three items and kill Garanel. The items are:

1. A Holy Symbol of Quellious (drops off a twisted acolyte at the gazebo)

2. A Book of Knowledge (drops off Librarian Carsil - named ghoul located on roof at +545, 0)

3. A Medallion of Quellious (drops off Garanel Rucksif, same location as regular Garanel in basement)

Upon the last boss's death, the following zone-wide text appears, along with "an ancient chest" containing various loot:

I appreciate your help more than you can know. We will see what effects your work has had on the undead. In the meantime, I will continue my work and see if the timing can be corrected on my spell.

(Opt) Use Savil's wand to return to your own time 0/1 (Estate of Unrest)

(Opt) Return the artifacts to Savil Tranquilsong 0/1 (Butcherblock Mountains)

At this point you may port out of the zone using the wand and complete the optional quest checklist items by returning the three looted drops to Savil Tranquilsong in Butcherblock for a little extra experience, or simply destroy them. If you port out, you see this:

At least the trip back worked as intended. Bring me the relics you retrieved and I will see what I can do to reward you.

If the items are returned to Savil, he responds courtesously.

Savil Tranquilsong says 'I never thought I would see these relics. Thank you for taking the time to bring them to me. You cannot know what this means to my brethren and I.'

IVU helps but isn't perfect, there are some werewolves which, just like in non-instanced Unrest, see thru IVU.

Note also that as of today, they appear to have nerfed using CoHero in this instance. At least our mage was unable to summon the groupmember who triggered the instance to where the rest of the group was, in the basement.

Did this tonight with 2 71 mages, a 65 SK, and a 71 cleric. Was a cinch with some planning. Started the mission, ran out there, buffed up at zone in, ran up and spawned the undead. We ivu and wet down from the tower and up the stairs to the upper rooms, and cleared from the stairs to the librarian, was a piece of cake for that kind of firepower. Next we IVU and jumped off the roof, camped by the gazibo and the hedge against the zone wall. cleared a bit, pulled all three (NEED monk to get single pull out of there). took that down easily enough. Then IVU again, went down to basement, cleared from the fake wall all the way down to the ghost. killed it, chest spawned. aug dropped. The wand is a GROUP PORT. usefull info there.

Mission can be done solo, but requires three to get it. It's really, really easy if you shroud down a few levels (have everyone in the task shroud to 55, for example, when you're 60) get the task, drop the shroud, and go kill.

Soloed this mission today as a 73 wizzy. Took me 32 minutes exactly for task, and 10 minutes to run back from one death. If you know how to pull, it is very simple. Necros and wizzies can pretty much dominate this mission with enough skill.

Here is what I did:

1) Killed the two mobs wandering around the entrance. You can kite them into the entry tunnel, and run into the zoneout. If you do, it will instantly evac you back to the succor point (mouth of tunnel) but you will still have agro. Good for a little bit of extra time for damage (not like they hit that hard anyway.

2) Once the entry two are dead, I ran along the right zone wall, behind the hedge maze, and out to the gazebo. You will come out on the right side of the gazebo itself, and you'll see two adds along with acolyte. I quickly dashed around front, nuked the acolyte before pulling agro, and ran back to the double fountain at entrance. Once I saw acolyte coming, I quickly rooted it, took a few extra steps towards tunnel and evac'ed. When I came back in, I waited for adds to go back, then scooped up the rooted acolyte and kited it like it was trash.

3) After killing that, I put on IVU, and ran out to the balcony with the librarian. I waited until it was at the LEFT side of building (facing north) and then rooted it. His pet came after me, but killed it easily. I then kited (if you can even call it that) the librarian up and down the left side of the balcony. You can avoid getting hit if you run by him when he's casting. However, DO NOT run behind or in front. If you go behind, curates will heal him. If you go in front, you get adds. This is the hardest of the 3 to kill.

4) When he died, I IVU'ed and ran down to basement. I targeted that really stupid see-invis werebat, and nuked it. I then ran back to zoneline, half dead (phew) and rooted it close to the ZI. Evac, kite, done.

5) Finally, I IVU'ed all the way to Garanel's room, and did the same thing for the werebat. I died here because of a stupid mistake (fell down the mushroom trap) but got it perfect the second time.

After he died, the chest popped. Got the aug, woot!

This is from a wizard's point of view - a necro could FD pull easier.

Good luck!

Did this with, not sure of lvls, but full group. We had 62 shammy (me), 65 SK, some 65+ necro, some 65 or over bard, 66 druid and some 65+ rogue too.

Got wiped once as bard pulled the named ghoul from roof, got dozen adds, bard died and we got aggros somehow, killed most of em but eventually got mostly our group wiped (except for necro, who rezzed me since I dont have DoN to summon corpse...).

Got him down on second attempt as we got much less adds, then proceeded to clear until we got to basement. After while of killing, bard pulled the dwarf, along with some tentacle terror and few other adds. SK tanked down the ghost noprob, but bard + rogue + druid all died. All of em were easily slowed, but Ima ran out of mana without any sort of mana reg buff. >_<

Chest spawned from dwarf and got the mask of heretic thing, think SK won it, not sure.

Was fun overall, level there, too. Awesome exp. ^_^

As for loot, it's mostly the regular drops from unrest, willowisps dropped burned out lightstones, various Fine Steel weps, grave mold, those mushrooms, but suprisinly we got few nicer items, such as blue diamond, ruby crown and black sapphire.

Alright, done this alot and heres my input.
Me (70 monk) and a 70 cleric duo this. We use a bot as 3rd person in group just to get mission. If you have a full grp, I'll do a 2nd right up for you.

MINIMAL FORCE:

|||||||||||||||||||||| 1 |

|###########| |
|###########| |
|###########| |
|-----------------__--| |
|###########| |
|###########| |
|###########| |
|----------------------|2|
|_______________ |
|-------------------------|

(Thx to whoever posted this map below me)

Set up on at #2. Librarian will spawn at #1. Have cleric (or someone with IVU and Lev) run and trigger. Then they float over to balcony. When Librarian pops, pull it to #2, DO NOT go too far in front on building or you will get 2 adds. Do not stay too far north or Librarian will get CH'd. When Librarian dies, loot item, and get IVU and Lev. Fly over East Hedge Maze and set up on wall. Pull the mobs under gazebo (clr paci'd farthest and I pulled other 2). Kill all the mobs, loot item, and get IVU. Run into the house, into the basement and past the fake wall. Follow the Wall until you see the blood pool. Now all the times I've done this there was a Werebat up. 75% of the time I could run past it and no agro. If it does agro, kill it and the add in the hall. IVU again and run down to ghost. Set up in the corner right behind him and tag him. You will get one add but that shouldnt be a problem. Kill ghost and add, loot item, open chest. Gratz!
Finish time: 20-30min.

FULL GROUP:

Alright depending on your group, you can do this multiple ways.
1) You want to set up 2-3 peeps in basement where the ghost spawns (make sure they can take ghost on their own). Then take the rest of grp to the Balcony. Set up at #2 on map above. Have one person trigger event. Kill ghost and librarian, then the balcony group floats down to gazebo and kills them. Gratz! MAKE SURE GHOST DIES FIRST or SECOND or the chest will spawn on his corpse in basement and you will ***** half your grp out of loot or have to run everyone down there.
2) Make 3 teams, 1 at each post.
Finish time: 5-15min.

The few times i did this with a grp it was clr, clr, bard, mnk, shamy. All are Qvic/Tacvi/Anguish geared, except me, the monk.
Shm solo'd the basement ghost + add. Me and Clr killed librarian, the clr with me triggered event. Other clr and bard pulled gazebo. Librarian died fast. Then me and clr would go help bard/clr. We usually had to hold our dps on Acolyte until shammy killed his.

LOCKOUT TIME: 45min (I think)

GL guys.

Tried this quest last night(first time after patch) and Nisha Lightbrook said regular gonna port you text, but emoted that group could not get in because we had no purpose being there.

Have ran it with most of the members of the group before, only two of the members had changed. Their levels did not change the level average by much if at all.

Anyone else having this problem after the patch?

Did this expedition for a friend we were all 70 and this zone must be for non time gear we never came close to dieing wasnt a threat at all to us pulled 10 to 12 at a time my enc had np keeping them mezzed ! to me if not for the aug this expedition would be a waste of time as the exp isnt that great and the rest that drops is pure trash to us !

the aug is nice though but as i been reading must be rare so not sure ill waste my time trying to get it when i can get better gear and drops in mpg trials =p

Getting the augment to drop
# Jun 21 2005 at 8:36 PM Rating: Decent
Although this is a fun mission, i'm sure most people do this for the augment as it's much better than the other loots. I have done the mission probably at least 20 times now, and only saw the augment one time. It might just be that rare, but what if there is a built in hidden flag in the mission that says if you kill X amount of mobs by the time you finished it, you have a chance at the aug, or if you stay in the mission for X amount of time. The reason I suggest this is, the first time we did the mission when the aug dropped, we took the long way, killed a ton of mobs. Every time after that we took shortcuts and skipped a lot of stuff, did the mission really quickly. But the aug never dropped again, only the cloak or shoulders. Can anyone try this and verify it? Like kill a lot of mobs and stay in the mission for say 40 minutes or so, and then see if the aug drops.

[b]THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO RESPAWNS!!![/]
I went through with a group doing this several times. to my amazement and suprise there is no respawns. which in my humble opinion rocks!

Oh, and if you cannot get an sk/monk/bard to do the tower run, let the druid/wizard do it They can bind at the NPC in Dagnor's Caldron walk up to the tower alone, trigger the ectoplasmic maelstrom and gate out, tell the npc they are ready again, and walla, all are safely at zone in.
Unrest Mission
# Jun 17 2005 at 7:42 AM Rating: Decent
We did this mission 3 times last weekend, two Pauldrons and a sash dropped. One note, the chest cannot be opened if the party still has agro. So you must continue killing yard trast until agro clears. We pulled all mobs to entrance area. Most mobs dark blue to me at 66. named yellow or red. Completed this mission 3 times in less than 4 hours. 70 Pally, 70 Cleric, 66 Shammie, 66 Ranger, 68 chanter and 68 mage. Pally pulled yard trash 4-6 at time, chanter mez, ranger extra CC. Not bad AA EXP and pauldron's were nice upgrade over my Sable-Lined off of TT. We were hoping for augs, but nada.
RE: Unrest Mission
# Jun 17 2005 at 5:56 PM Rating: Default
All mobs in this mission are based on avg player level I believe, as I have done the mission with level 60s and then again with nothing but 70s. In my experience the aug has dropped every time (3 of 3) with average level of 70. As a 68 necro almost every mob was white to me in a higher level group, and all blue with lower levels.
Finishing the task
# Jun 17 2005 at 2:02 AM Rating: Default
To officially end the mission, you must kill the librarian, the dorf in the basement, and the twisted acolyte in the gazebo. Make sure you loot the no drop item they carry as it is part of the task. After you are done, you must do the 'optional' parts of the mission, including using the savil's wand, then handing in the 3 items looted from the mission. After all steps, including the optional tasks, are completed the mission will end automatically. One thing I noticed is that you can have each person in the group get a wand by accepting the mission then leaving the mission right after you accept then having another person from the group accept the mission etc etc. The wand is useless, as I have tried to use it while in exp groups to mess with people, but the result was 'so and so creates a portal through time' or something to that effect, but nothing happens. The wand was meant for time travel only for exiting the instanced Unrest zone, and will not work in any other zone or the original non-instanced Unrest.
