Anniversary events tend to run from mid-March to mid-April (sometimes to mid-May) each year. They are not available during the "off season".

For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry.

Find Sarvil Amberstone in the Dreadlands, located near the wizard and druid portals, or Nilvara Rishal in Firiona Vie at 787.87, -1974.70, 143.10, just outside the elven faction outpost.

You say, 'Hail, Sarvil Amberstone'

Sarvil Amberstone says, 'Hail, _____! I'm glad you finally found me. I thought you looked like someone who might help me out. Are you [prepared] to risk life and limb to assist me?'

You say, 'I am prepared'

Sarvil Amberstone says, 'I thought as much. In return for your help I'd be happy to give you this potion here. It's got some wonderful benefits to it that I'm sure you'll enjoy. All you need to do is collect a few things for me from around the continent. It's mostly easy and only a little dangerous, I swear. Are you still [interested]?'

You say, 'I am still interested'

Sarvil Amberstone says, 'Perfect! As I said I thought you were someone who could help me. I'm sure you'll have fun along the way with this. Here is a bag to combine the items in and a cheat-sheet to help you along in your search. Don't go asking me for any more hints, I won't give them. Return to me once you've gathered all the items and we'll see how you did. Good luck!'

Receive Collector's Cheat Sheet, with text:

1) These conflicted strands are a badge of honor
2) This pouch is crafted from finer things than leather
3) Weigh your options before seeking these
4) A crumbling intellect can be a burden
5) It towers above, but these help it grow below
6) The rhyme of the mountains
7) Cursing can be heard whenever this is used
8) Their bark is the least of your worries
9) Fans the swarming flame
10) Grown from the seeds of failure

What is really asked for:

1) A Collector's Sarnak War Braid (Sarnaks in The Overthere)
2) A Collector's Drachnid Web Sack (Drachnids in the Dreadlands)
3) A Collector's Bloodgill Scale (Bloodgills in Lake of Ill Omen)
4) A Collector's Brittle Iksar Skull (Skeleton in Field of Bone)
5) A Collector's Excavator Claws (Burynai Excavator in Kurn's Tower)
6) A Collector's Tump Stump (Mountain Giants in Frontier Mountains)
7) A Collector's Iksar Witch Doll (Goblins in Warsliks Woods)
8) A Collector's Canine (Drolvargs in Firiona Vie)
9) A Collector's Fire Hornet Wing (Hornets in Burning Wood)
10) A Collector's Nohope Moss (Froglok Raider in Swamp of No Hope)

Combine these 10 items in your collector's bag and return the result to Sarvil for your reward, Ceremonial Elixir of Scholarship.

i have found after farming these for 14 of my toons that if you go to the zone the item drops in, find /loc 0, 0 and kill near there you'll have the best luck on drops, kill every mob in that area for any mob is a PHer for the mob that drops the item try to stay somewhat close to this /loc i found the more you venture away from it the worse the drop rate becomes.

2) Warsliks Woods - A Collector's Iksar Witch Doll (Goblins, goblin fort in the north)
3) Field of Bone - A Collector's Brittle Iksar Skull (Sythrax skeletons in the hidden north eastern underground)
4) Kurn's Tower - A Collector's Excavator Claws (Burynai Excavator in the south western basement)
5) Swamp of No Hope - A Collector's Nohope Moss (Frogloks in the city)
6) Firiona Vie - A Collector's Canine (Drolvargs)

This is very similar to my route:

Firiona Vie
Swamp of No Hope
Field of Bone
Kurn's Tower
Warsliks Wood
The Overthere
Frontier Mountains
Lake of Ill Omen
Dreadlands
Burning Woods
Dreadlands

The first six are exactly reversed from yours, requiring Frontier Mtns and Lake of Ill Omen to need to be swapped as well.

Although I prefer mine (likely because I've done the path so many times), they are essentially the same.

Of course picking up the quest, and turning in the collection is easier with a porter, but either sequence works for running the least.

Don't waste your time hunting goblins in and around the fort, you won't get the Iksar Witch Doll. Instead, explore the whole zone and track (if it's possible) the goblin casters. I spent a whole hour in the goblin fort and I got nothing, I wandered in the zone using track, and I got my item after killing one goblin.

Took ABOUT 30 minutes, killed every sarnak I could find as an 85 ranger with track. Finally I came across one with the ' Messenger ' name in it as a sarnak, and dropped on first kill!
Also don't make the dumb mistake I did and get half Collector's and half regulars and try to combine after 'thinking' you're finished. ALL have to be Collector's :D

For those trying to do this quest with the least time effort I can only recommend this post!
Just one minor thing: In WW you need to head north to the goblin fort from where you zone in.

You can't do this quest again because you have already done it once. Sony made it so you can only do this quest once per toon. This is not a repeatable quest. Have tried each year since it came out and the results are always the same, can't do it again :(

Please change the walk through so it no longer reads "fort goblins" for the Collector's Iksar Doll (#7), because that is inaccurate and misleading. As many posts and my own experience indicate, those goblins do *not* drop the collector's version of the doll. I hunted them for a while because your walk through says fort goblins, so I wasted about an hour and a half of my time. After reading and following the suggestions in the posts, I found the correct doll in 5 minutes.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the dolls do indeed drop from roaming casters, but NOT at the Fort or the Rocks, or even at the Pond from what I can see. After hunting roaming goblins for about 5 mins, I got the correct drop.

Have done this quest every year since it has came out on FV server and have looted every "collector's" doll at fort. Off of bloostracers, witch doctors and sooth sayers. I have found that if you let then pop and stay popped for about 30 seconds or so, you almost always get a collector's. The biggest problem is that everyone seem to kill them as soon as they pop...usually resulting in no doll. So, I speak from experience that they DO INDEED drop from said gobbies AT the fort..no doubt about it.

Like all anniversary scavenger hunts, this can be done every year on the anniversary (March-April). It's still active as of 2010.

Tip: This scavenger hunt involves items that the mobs normally drop, but you are looking for a version called "A Collector's." The normal version and scavenger hunt version look exactly the same and both are no drop, so make sure you have the "Collector's" version before you run off to the next zone.

1. Most sarnaks seem to work. I killed the ones near FM zone line and saw over 50% drop rate.

2. The drachnids near FV/BW seem to work best. I had no luck with the ones on the snow/ice. Drop rate seems to be less than 50%.

3. There are 12-14 bloodgills underwater near the Veksar entrance. 5 are near the front of the building, and the rest can be found on top of the building at each corner. Drop rate less than 50%.

4. I had the best luck with skeletons in the north part of the zone, outside of the pit. Drop rate seemed around 50%.

5. Burynai drop this, but only in Kurn's and only in the basement. It's confusing getting around in there, but basically you want to go down as many stairs as you can until you find a deep pit you can drop down into. Drop rate was greater than 75%. There is a zone out to FoB down there as well.

6. Apparently just about any type of mountain giant can drop thi in FM. Drop rate is greater than 75%.

7. This was annoying, especially with the incorrect information in the walk through. Fort Goblins DO NOT drop this! This just happened to be the first step I started with, and I got the feeling this quest would take ages since after an hour and a half I still hadn't seen the right item (all I was getting was the normal "Iksar Witch Doll"). I also had no luck at any specific spot, such as the pond. I found a greater than 75% drop rate off of roaming caster hobgoblins.

8. There aren't very many Drolvargs in FV, not helped by the fact pilgrims and drixies will attack them. Be careful not to let a pilgrim KS you or you'll lose the corpse. The best place to hunt Drolvargs is in the east and southeast, somewhat near the water. Drop rate is greater than 50%.

9. Just about any hornet can drop it. I found a good concentration of them around the center of the zone, but there are lots of roamers so be careful if you are a lower level. Drop rate is greater than 75%.

10. Just about any frog can drop it. There is a huge city of frogs in the southeast corner of the zone, but frogs roam all over SONH, so finding one won't take long. Drop rate is greater than 75%.

What actual legwork did you have in mind? Something like the 2 hours I spent there, and the hours other people spent there before me, with me, and after me, with not a single collector's doll dropping? We hunted those mobs, killed dozens and dozens of them. As of the time of my post and my experience, the only dolls that dropped in the fort are non-collector's versions, the same dolls that have dropped from them for years. Either there is a difference from server to server, a patch recently "fixed" the drops, or you are mistaken about what you claim to have found.

And yes, I do take offense to your comment. As you can see by my post, I put in plenty of "legwork." I re-posted everything from my own experience. That didn't just come out of my **** and appear magically on the screen. Several hours of work went into that. So I'll kindly thank you to not post remarks if you don't have anything constructive to contribute yourself.

Go ahead and click on the link to Collector's Iksar Witch Doll up above, and read all the posts there. You'll see I'm one of many people that aren't finding it in the fort. I hate to say I doubt the veracity of your claim, but not one person on my server has said they've found the collector's doll on those mobs, and many, many other people say the same thing, including other posts on Alla's.

I did this quest not 10 minutes ago for 2 alts simultaneously, AE pulled all of the Fort goblins together and had a total of 4 drops. Total time spent in zone was 6 minutes resulting in two rots, I only killed Fort mobs as I entered from FoB.

Last year I cleared the Fort a couple of times without a single drop, killed a couple of roamers while I waited for the static spawns to repop and got my drop of a roamer instead. The only constant is that the drop comes from the casters, it doesn't matter where they spawn in the slightest.

Just adding my experience to what's here:(thanks
Haxorr/Wyndaria)
- Clear out 1 bag slot.
- Zone into Overthere. Get quest bag from Velnas T`Lav, outside wall on south side of fort in NW corner (near pok book). Head east. Kill sarnaks. Get braid.
- Zone into Warslik's woods. Run to EAST side of zone. Kill gobbies near the far east road (going north-south). Do not hunt in the gobbie fort, you are wasting your time. (I found this to be accurate, but I actually found mine on the west side not far from the OT ZI)
- Zone into Field of Bone. Kill skeletons on EAST side, not near cabilis.(if you go to the underwater cave in the NE area, there are skellies down there...that's where mine dropped)
- Zone into Kurn's Tower. Go downstairs and kill burynai's.(yes, downstairs is correct)
- Zone into Swamp of No Hope. Go to the upstairs platform and kill frogs in their village (south-central on map). (both me and my friend got ours specifically from the shamans)
- Zone into Firiona Vie. Kill Drolvargs on the way.
- Zone into Dreadlands. Kill spiders west of Karnor's castle (near BW).(I actually got mine from a spider right near where Veltar was...I think that's west of the castle)
- Zone into Burning Woods. Go West and north of zone in. Kill wasps. Then head east. (we got both of ours in the SW corner where there's a group of wasps)
- Zone into Frontier Moutains. Head east. Kill giants inside fort. Heast east to Lake.
- Zone into Lake of Ill omen. Head east to lake. Kill bloodgills in water. (at entrance to Veksar)
- Yer done! Combine in bag. Turn in at one of the 3 quest guys.

Bottom line here....you'll probably find your drop almost anywhere, but according to the combined posts above, you may have better luck!

Heya,

I've done this about 8 times with various characters. Here's some hints that will help you through the places people generally get stuck. NOTE - WHICH MOBS YOU KILL WHERE MATTERS!

- Zone into Field of Bone. Kill skeletons on EAST side, not near cabilis.
- Zone into Kurn's Tower. Go downstairs and kill burynai's.
- Zone into Swamp of No Hope. Go to the upstairs platform and kill frogs in their village (south-central on map).
- Zone into Firiona Vie. Kill Drolvargs on the way.
- Zone into Dreadlands. Kill spiders west of Karnor's castle (near BW).
- Zone into Burning Woods. Go West and north of zone in. Kill wasps. Then head east.
- Zone into Frontier Moutains. Head east. Kill giants inside fort. Heast east to Lake.
- Zone into Lake of Ill omen. Head east to lake. Kill bloodgills in water.
- Yer done! Combine in bag. Turn in at one of the 3 quest guys.

NOTES - You can only do ONCE per character, per lifetime. Only available during Fabled. Reward is 10 XP potions which are 30 mins of 50% XP boost - does not stack with Lesson. Doing in the above order prevents any zone repeats and minimizes travel.

Have fun!

Good writeup, but truthfully, I think this quest (which was already cake) was made MUCH easier this year.

I just completed the quest, start to finish, in just over an hour -- without even a SoW. In every single zone, I looted that zone's drop in no more than 10 kills -- most less than five, with three on the very first. While making my quest run, several other players within two zones ahead of or behind me (we all pretty much ran the same route, a derivative of Necessity's but starting in Dreadlands) reported similar ease.

I got the WW drop from the very first goblin camp I came across -- on the WEST SIDE of the river -- on the path from OT to the goblin fort. Another one dropped inside the fort itself, and one was also on the fabled earring mob I whacked on the way to FoB. The Swamp drop has been confirmed as a zonewide drop off any froglok -- mine was from a froglok vis shaman on the very northern fringe of the swamp. Same deal with the FM drop -- I got it from the second giant I encountered as I exited the tunnel from BW, well away from the giant fort.

In talking to several guildies and folks on general chat that have done this quest this year for alts or boxes, it seems like the drop rates have been increased big time. Maybe it's a 10th anniversary present or something.

Ok Im getting impatient about the warsliks woods goblin drop.

I have been 2 boxing this quest with an 82 shaman and 74 shadowknight.

For one character I acquired the drop after maybe 3 kills on the east road that goes north/ south- specifically about halfway down it.....as the above posts have indicated

However, with the second toon, Ive hunted up and down it 2 times, all over the west side and in the fort a and nothing the collective doll isnt dropping.

Im hoping it doesnt have anything to do with my first character, who just finished the quest, tht is doing all the killing and maybe the loot table doesnt drop the collective doll to character that has completed the quest?

Going to start killing gobs with my sk just in case.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if it is common but the Sarnak Berserkers weren't dropping the "A Collector's Sarnak War Braid" but when I killed "A Sarnak overlord" dropped on the first shot.

Nilvara Rishal (Female high elf with white ponytail and green robe)
Firiona Vie at location 787.87, -1974.70, 143.10 (just outside the elven faction outpost)

Upon zoning in to FV as a good character, you see the following text:
Nilvara Rishal says 'Greetings, XXX! I'm glad you've finally arrived. If you come visit me near the entrance of the elven outpost I have a task you might be interested in.'

Hailing her starts the text as shown in the quest summary above.

Ok ive been killing these horrbily evil little gobbies in WW with my bard for 2 hours now and as of yet have no Collectors doll. If they didnt drop on the first hit they would at least be interesting. This is like swatting flies with a Mack truck.

i am so bored.

BTW, I went to the east side of hte zone. Hunted goblins just in and around the hills. Found in there in a few minutes. I had previously hunted in the fort and all the places around the fort (the one to North in Warsliks). I am not sure that it is from that area. Go to East or SE or elsewhere.

I can also confirm that it is now working. Both myself and a friend completed it last night.

Aside from the canine, probably the most uncommon one to get was the war braid.

however, both of these guys are (stupidly) linked. i did the outpost quest, and then tried to talk to the DL guy (never set eyes or hail on him before) and despite him calling out to you when you enter the zone, he will say "you have heard this all before"

id suggest if you have never done either of these events, try getting both bags from the separate guys to see if you can get two xp potions. at the very least, do the combine on one so you have the combined bag, and then ask the next guy for a bag to see if it works. you should be able to get two of these, imho.
just finished

1) A Collector's Sarnak War Braid (Sarnak Berserker in Overthere)
Mid-zone. Bring a tracker or just chase ever Sarnak you see. Knights can drop them rarely, Berserkers do nmost of the time,

2) A Collector's Drachnid Web Sack (Drachnids in the Dreadlands)
Two webs in SE of zone. Drops almost every kill.

3) A Collector's Bloodgill Scale (Bloodgills in Lake of Ill Omen)
Common drop. Mobs are underwater in the Lake, around Veksar structure.

4) A Collector's Brittle Iksar Skull (Skeleton in Field of Bone)
Go into the underground/underwater tunnel IN NE corner of zone. Drops off just about every skell there.

5) A Collector's Excavator Claws (Burynai Excavator in Kurn's Tower)
Must go into the tunnels under the basement. Drops about 60% of the time.

6) A Collector's Tump Stump (Mountain Giants in Frontier Mountains)
The giants fort, can't miss it. Don't mistake it for a regular Tump Stump!

7) A Collector's Iksaar Witch Doll (Fort Goblins in Warsliks Woods)
Common off any goblin in the fort.

8) A Collector's Canine (Drolvargs in Firiona Vie)
Middle-NE part of zone. They wander, drops often.

9) A Collector's Fire Hornet Wing (Hornets in Burning Wood)
SW corner of zone, drops are common.

10) A Collector's Nohope Moss (Froglok Raider in Swamp of No Hope)
Like posts say here, go after the shaman frogs in the city. Drops almost every time.

Going after the wrong mobs can add a lot of time to this quest. Like the skells in FoB. They MAY provide the drop also but much much rarer than those inside the tunnels.

Great post.

Only two things I saw slightly different.

#4) No skeletons were under in the water tunnel. Only Servants of Syntrax, or something like that. They were skellies, true, but they never dropped anything. I got mine off a normal skeleton wandering the north center area (beware level 50 named Iksar is there, Trooper Dix, was KoS).

#10) I did not see any raiders, but like you said, the ton shaman dropped it inside the city.

Most every mob dropped both a 'normal' item or a 'collectors' item, or both. You mentioned it for the Tump Stump, but really it can be any of them. I looted 7 canines in FV before I got my collector canine.

Takes about 80 minutes with a druid. Every mob encountered was between 10 and 45, most were under level 30.

For #7, if you don't want to tangle with the fort, you can check out the small broken room to the east of the fort. There are 4 goblins there, and I got my Collected from there on the second kill. I never made it to the fort.

Ok about the underwater skeletons:

These are called Servants of Sythrax (as mentioned above) but they come in TWO varieties.

The first variety is the human skeleton model. These guys drop nothing. Nada. Zilch.

The second variety is the IKSAR skeleton model. Hence, they drop Collector's Brittle IKSAR Skulls.

I wish I didn't have to spell that out, but some people aren't getting it. Don't bother killing any skeletons in FoB that don't use the IKSAR skeleton model (has spikey parts on the side of the skull and a tail).

That's it.

For #4, just kill decayed skeletons in the newbie garden along the path leading from the FoB to Cabilis.

For #10, I think he meant Froglok Repairer, of which there is only a single spawn. Also shaman mobs are good. Drops often off both.

On FV, there are many players who re-roll a character on a second account to bypass the flag. I myself have quested 27 of these today. At 50K a pop, you do the math.

The quest items are not LORE, and on FV can be dropped, so if you have a second account with a mule alt, you can EASILY do this a ton of times and the absolute slowest two parts are a) camping the goblins for scales (remember to let them live for 30 secs before you kill them) and then the nonsense of deleting and remaking your alt every time you do the hand-in, and give the potion to your main.

I've done this like 18 times now. The potions are affected by extended enhancement aa's, from 30min duration up to 45min duration at max extended enhancement aa's.

Each potion has 10 charges.

(18pots x 10charges x 45min duration each)/60min = 135 HOURS of double exp.

They don't stack with lesson, but this means that now, when I want to "burn lesson", I can burn for 1:15 instead of just 0:30 as before.

And THAT is why FV is the best server to play on. :)

Doesn't have to be in order...I did it in zone order (least path of resistance) and only had problems getting drops in FV and KT (had to kill about 10 in each sone to get drop). ALL others dropped off of first kill...even the Iksar Wtch Doll.
