This raid task begins with Lieutenant Ekiltu Verlor (click for map image) in the Norrath's Keepers camp of the Lavastorm Mountains. It has a 2-day, 20-hour lockout timer.

Pre-requisites for requesting this task:
- Level 69+
- Minimum 6 players; maximum 24 players
- Must be high amiable faction with Norrath's Keepers
- Completion of all Tier 2 tasks and flags
- Completion of "Protect the Waters"
- Completion of "The Sacred Scrolls"
- Completion of "Snowfoot Revenge"

You say, 'Hail, Lieutenant Ekiltu Verlor'

Lieutenant Ekiltu Verlor says 'Those faithful to the way of Norrath's Keepers may take on the greatest challenges and prove their worth to Firiona Vie.'

You have been assigned the task 'Trial of Perseverance'.

There are still more parchments and tomes we wish to learn about in Stillmoon Temple. Some of these documents may provide the Dark Reign with the ability to bring ruin to the world. You must use your strength, stamina, and wherewithal to uncover these scrolls and secure them before Dark Reign can get their hands on them.

Task Steps

Touch the portal to Stillmoon Temple 0/1 (The Broodlands)

Approach Osashi 0/1 (Stillmoon Temple)

TASK LOCKS HERE

Kill the goblin warlord 0/1 (Stillmoon Temple)

The Event

The entrance to the instance is a portal in the north-central part of the Broodlands (will be marked on your compass).

In the instanced zone, find Osashi close to the zone-in area and speak with him:

You say, 'Hail, Osashi'

Osashi says 'You have come at the goblins' behest? Very well. Perseverance is important to all, regardless of what you seek, be it wealth, knowledge, or power. This trial will show me just how committed you are to obtain your desires. When you being this trial, several goblins will wait near the gong and attempt to ring it after one minute. Do not let this happen and you shall prove yourself in this trial. Are you [ready] to begin?'

You say, 'We're ready!'

a Stillmoon goblin says 'Someone ring the bell! Summon help!'

Osashi immediately despawns and 4x "a Stillmoon goblin" appear around the bell next to him.

All goblins in this event must be kept aggro'd. If any goblin is left idle for any longer than 10-15 seconds, it "rings the bell". If you allow this to happen, then you get "an Ancient Stillmoon Guardian" instead of the goblin warlord. This represents a failure, and you'll have to repeat the event.

When you kill "a Stillmoon goblin", another one spawns in its place. These mobs are NOT auto-aggro, and due to line-of-sight, you'll have to keep watch to make sure none are left idle. These goblins hit for a max ~1,100 and are immune to mez and stun.

After a certain number of goblin kills, "a Stillmoon warlord" appears. This mob hits for a max ~1,600; AE rampages; and casts "Gelid Breath":

Gelid Breath: Targeted AE 20', Cold (-275) (2 minutes)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 1250
2: Decrease Chance to Hit by 10% with 1H Blunt
3: Decrease Effective Casting Level by 12
4: Increase Curse Counter by 50

Completion & Loot

Kill the warlord to complete the task:

a Stillmoon warlord has been slain by _____!
a Stillmoon warlord's corpse mutters an ancient curse as you end his life.

Beyond the wildest dreams and plans of the creatures that call Stillmoon their home, you have defeated the Trial of Perseverance and bested them all!

It drops 6x "Goblin Warlord's Beads" (progression item) + 1 item from this loot table:

Bracer of the Warriors
Hoop of the Drakeborn
Icefloe Hammer
Stillmoon Silk Bracer

Task Rewards:
13 Radiant Crystals
1x "Norrath's Keepers Token" (faction turn-in item)

Note: If doing this raid as part of progression, you'll want to check in with some NPCs to make sure your flags are up to date. See this quest entry for more details.

I don't think you ever have to do an event in DoN progressions twice. Just hang on to the progressions items like the beads, then when you get to that point in the progression you can just turn them in. But I'm pretty sure that you have to have done up to that step in the progression (including all the solo and group missions) before you can do any turn-ins.

Spawn at bell, run a couple laps to aggro the 4 goblins, burn all 4 down to 10% ish then kill, aggro respawns as they come. If bell gets rung you get the stone sentinel guy instead of goblin warlord and you have to reget task. Goblins ring bell after 10-15 seconds up without being aggroed. Would have tried using mez but didn't want to risk it with LoS issues with bell. Just keep using potions 2.0 and mend as they pop (hastened mend helps a lot here). It's an all out battle of attrition until the warlord spawns.

Once named spawns you can just clear goblins (line of sight seems to be aggro so if you get creative with the bell you don't have to pull them anywhere. Med up, let mends and potions pop and then use whatever dps discs you have left over to kill the named. He isn't particularly hard, I think max hit on me was 807 or so with 4130 ac.

As a side note, mercs do depop upon zoning in here, so while you can use them to get the task initially, once you zone in you're on your own.

This worked great for a pickup group today, 74 SK, 74 BST, and 69 ROG (me). the 74's were hubbie & wife (tight fighting group, hope to work with them again). I just assisted off the SK with my Shissar's and Quellious poisons.

Guardian instead of warlord

OK so if the guardian spawns instead of the warlord you "messed up" in what way? What causes this to fail?

So what the hell do you do with the Beads? Just hold onto them?

Grouped : Had shammy ae slow them right off the bat kite them for a bit and ranger pull agro off one by one snaring and kiting, the snare didnt even have time to drop before we were done.

Kept the closest one to us to kill one at a time, another would spawn right after that. The spawns dried up and eventually had to take them off the ranger.

Named was an easy kill.

Doesn't require anyone of heavy gearing just a good healer, tank, ranger. Then of course some dps.

MEZZ 4tw. Qvic geared group with a chanter and knight tank could beat this easy. Maybe even Time geared.
An Ancient Stillmoon Guardian
# Dec 12 2005 at 4:03 AM Rating: Decent
Today, while doing this raid, instead of spawning the Warlord we had An Ancient Stillmoon Guardian spawn. The mob didn't aggro so I had the raid rez, rebuff and med while I tried to research. It despawned before we were able to engage.

Anyone ever seen it before or have any clue what it is? I was unable to find any information on it.

If he spawns, that means you failed.

Turns out this isn't the case. We screwed up but still got the warlord. We killed him and the beads dropped with one add in camp. After killing the gobby his spawn popped at the bell. We did not engage and soon he despawned with An Ancient Stillmoon Guardian popping opposite of where he spawned. Not sure what triggered him but /shrug. I have a picture I can send sometime, just to get around to it.

Just finished this mission. Mezzed 3 goblins while we killed the last.
Only had to kill it 2 or 3 times before the named popped. I guess everybody was surprised to see it so fast.

For this trial you should bring 2 or 3 mezzers, a few knights for damageless taunt, a strong tank for named, and dps. To start the event move to Osashi near the bell, hail, and follow the dialog. The drake then despawns and 4 goblins spawn, one on each side of the bell. You'll want 3 non-damage tanks to snag 3 of them while your mezzers lock them down, and your strong tank picking up the last. When the goblin dies, another respawns on its spawn spot. The tank needs to pick this up quickly. Generally you will get 4 goblins from each spawn spot before it stops. When no more pop, grab one of the mezzed and begin taking it and it's respawns down. You will continue killing in this manner until a Goblin Warlord pops. I've seen it pop on the first set of 4, and I've seen it pop at the end (after 16th dead goblin). When it pops, the main tank snags agro and dps it down. Once dead, finish off the remaining mezzed goblins.

The Goblin Warlord is a pure melee mob, no spells, but it does AE rampage infrequently.
Be aware that All goblins in this mission enrage and hit for approx 1k, this can chew up people quite quickly if not careful. This mission has a 3 day lockout.

Are the original goblins or adds mezzable?
RE: Adds

The goblins are mezzable and snarable.

They are not adds per say. When one dies another spawns within seconds to replace it, until the Goblin Warlord is engaged. Once the final battle starts, you can kill the little goblins and they don't respawn.

The Dark Reign text is:

There is a wealth of information we wish to obtain from the creatures of Stillmoon Temple. Some of these documents may provide us with an avenue to bring ruin to the good of Norrath but all of those who have tried to retrieve them thus far have failed. Do not disappoint us.

How my guild did this was we zone into the trial and have 4 tanks go up to the bell, goblins spawn on north, east, south, and west side of the bell. We OT'd all 4 and killed them one by one untill the boss popped, goblins respawn again and again i believe 4 times each. We killed the boss when it spawned and then killed the rest of the adds. Adds hit me for 1k and hit kinda fast so need to have some good tanks, boss hit for arround 1100-1500 or so not many hp's so you can kill him fast.
Various stuff...

You'll find a screenshot with all the steps of a finished mission here now.

On our last win the goblin warlord dropped a Hoop of the Drakeborn (pic) as loot in addition to the usual six Goblin Warlord's Beads (pic).

Beads for progression
# Mar 16 2005 at 2:12 AM Rating: Decent
The Goblin Warlord's Beads (of which there are 6 that drop) are for progression. There was an open question in the Quest for progression asking about what the item was that was the reward for this quest.
