Find Vor Westrider in North Qeynos near the Priest of Discord.

You say, 'Hail, Vor Westrider'

Vor Westrider says, 'And hail to you as well, traveler. What news? It's nice to hear from someone of mixed heritage like myself. I often fear our kind will never be fully understood by either elves or human. Though we pass through their lands, we are always a little [uncomfortable] in either community. At least we half elves understand each other.'

You say, 'Uncomfortable?'

Vor Westrider says, 'You know what I mean. When traveling through elven communities, we must duck under their doorways and when visiting our human kin, we receive skeptical stares at our pointed ears. Not to mention, it's impossible to find armor from either race that fits properly. Human clothing is baggy in the shoulders and elven armor tends to chafe in the . . . well. . . you know what I mean, [right]?'

You say, 'Right'

Vor Westrider says 'Tell you what -- I contracted a half elven artisan to make me a pattern book for armor specifically for us. I made a suit and it fits perfectly. If you'd like, I can make you a copy of the pattern [book]. I also have some advanced armor [patterns] you may be interested in.'

You say, 'I'll take a book'

Vor Westrider says 'Excellent, I can make you a pattern book, but first I'm going to need some materials. Bring me a fire beetle carapace for the cover, a patch of zombie skin for the pages, a golden bandit tooth for the clasp, and a lion tail to grind down and make a salve which will protect and preserve the finished product. I have heard these resources can be found in Western Karana. Once I have these things, I can create the pattern book for ya.'

Quest Items to get your Ancestral Book:
Fire Beetle Carapace, Zombie Skin, Bandit Tooth, Lion Tail

You say, 'And the patterns?'

Artisan Vor Westrider says 'These, I cannot give away, but I can share them with you provided you are willing to help make Norrath safe for us wanderers again. I'm currently working with the city of Qeynos to secure trade routes outside the city gates. We need someone to lead some expeditions and reduce the numbers of dangerous creatures out there. As proof of your deeds we do not want actual messy body parts, but instead we would like you to make impressions of certain body parts in impression books. These books will magically take deep impressions or even just surface patterns. Interested? The more difficult the expedition the more powerful the armor pattern, I can provide. I have also heard about a new [underground] place.'

A task window pops up offering the following tasks:

B

And Gomn is correct, the rewards are none of what is listed. The books are the rewards.
Rewards are STILL wrong....

ZERO of the items listed as rewards are rewards.... the actual rewards are the books listed under quest items. These books are, in turn, used to make molds/patterns... which are, in turn, used to make the armor/augs. The arrmor/augs are at least 2 steps removed from this quest. This is somewhat akin to listing the reward for Soulfire as the Fiery Defender.... and Soulfire merely as a quest time.... (Soulfire is the point of the quest... and Fiery Defender is 2 quests down the line from Soulfire...)

You say, 'And the patterns?'

Quote:

I'm currently working with the city of Qeynos to secure trade routes outside the city gates. Interested? The more difficult the expedition the more powerful the armor pattern, I can provide.'

All of this is now:

[Sun Mar 18 08:48:23 2012] Artisan Vor Westrider says 'These, I cannot give away, but I can share them with you provided you are willing to help make Norrath safe for us wanderers again. I'm currently working with the city of Qeynos to secure trade routes outside the city gates. We need someone to lead some expeditions and reduce the numbers of dangerous creatures out there. You say, 'Hail, Artisan Nala Goldenthorn'

Artisan Nala Goldenthorn says 'Greetings _________!
It's a wonderful day to be among the trees. I've been working with my good friend Calian to help him with his new [armor] designs. They truly are amazing pieces of work.'

You say, 'What armor are you working on?'

Artisan Nala Goldenthorn says 'These new designs are really a completely new way of crafting armor. With these processes the new armor is stronger than your current armor and more comfortable to wear. We have also found other [methods] for improving the armor further. If you're [interested] I can make you a copy of the designs to look at.'

You say, 'I am very interested.'

Artisan Nala Goldenthorn says 'I'll need a some zombie skin and darkbone marrow from the Estate of Unrest. I can use those to create the cover and ink for the book. I'll also need some of the battle beads from Crushbone to help bind the book and a rotting orc tooth to complete the ink. Once I have those I will have a copy made for you.'

Note that this isn't given as task, so you don't have to go to unrest. Those items are tradeable.

The blessed impressions task is Variant B.

This quest is completely changed these days, and have been for some time.

When you ask for patterns, the dialogue stops and you are offered a number of tasks

One of the tasks is "Darkhollow Geode" which results in the reward "The Seals Of Darkhollow".

All this stuff needs to go as it's not at all relevant any longer.

The rewards lisitngs are very very misleading.

These are not the actual rewards! The rewards are the books! (Which you can later use to make the culutrual armor you have listed as rewards.)

The text of this quest needs rewording. It still says "Journeyman" etc.

Also, the quests have changed (see my other posts here).

I suggest that each book is it's own quest and should be listed as such. This page should focus on the first required book, the Ancestral book.

Obviously, however, the recipes for the armor has changed drastically as of the October 2007 patch... but the quests have not (again, as I noted in other posts on this thread).

Just as a recap:

Journeyman (aka Simple) = BLESSED BOOK

Expert (aka Ornate) = REVERED BOOK

Master (aka Intricate) = SACRED BOOK

Grandmaster(aka Elaborate) = EMINENT BOOK

They have also added Exalted and Subline books, not to mention the Darkhollow Seals book.

The Seals of Darkhollow Book should at least be a related quest, as the task giver also gives that task and it has to do with making augs for Cultural only armor.

RE: Cultural Quest changes

The Seals of Darkhollow quest is unchanged.

You simply need to loot a Large Darkhollow Geode and return it to the task giver.

The task is called "Darkhollow Geode."

The Seal Pattern (200 at a time) are made with a Book Binding, Seals of Darkhollow, Large Bottle of Ink, A Quill (not returned) and A Roll of Superb Vellum.

The quest for the Ancestral book appears to be unchanged as well, as the quest NPC gives the same response and requests the same items as before.

While all the other books are tasks, the Ancestral book is not (no task window.... just return the items he wants and you get the book).

The recipes for the Armor Patterns remains unchanged (Book Binding, Large Bottle of Ink, Compacted Backpack, A Quill, Roll of Plain Parchment and the Ancestral Book of Half Elven Armor).

The results is also the same. You get A Quill back and a Huge Disenchnated Backpack containing:

Pattern for Half Elven Sleeves (No Drop, Weight 0.1) (20 of them);
Pattern for Half Elven Leggings (No Drop, Weight 0.1) (20 of them);
Pattern for Half Elven Wristguards (No Drop, Weight 0.1) (40 of them);
Pattern for Half Elven Gloves (No Drop, Weight 0.1) (20 of them);
Pattern for Half Elven Boots (No Drop, Weight 0.1) (20 of them);
Pattern for Half Elven Helms (No Drop, Weight 0.1) (20 of them);
Pattern for Half Elven Tunics (No Drop, Weight 0.1) (20 of them).

The Molds are still made in a Kiln with Sculpting Tools, A Huge Block of Clay, High Quality Firing Sheet, Ancestral Book of Half Elven Armor and a Compacted Backpack. You get a Huge Disenchnated Backpack containing:

Mold for Half Elven Sleeves (No Drop, Weight 2.0) (20 of them);
Mold for Half Elven Leggings (No Drop, Weight 2.0) (20 of them);
Mold for Half Elven Wristguards (No Drop, Weight 2.0) (40 of them);
Mold for Half Elven Gloves (No Drop, Weight 2.0) (20 of them);
Mold for Half Elven Boots (No Drop, Weight 2.0) (20 of them);
Mold for Half Elven Helms (No Drop, Weight 2.0) (20 of them);
Mold for Half Elven Chestplates (No Drop, Weight 2.0) (20 of them).

the eminent (used to be grandmaster) quest still needs to be added. it has since changed from the version posted below and now is as follows

Eminent Impressions (lvl 65 any symbols/half-elf armors)
recieve a "Eminant Impression Book"
Task Quest Screenshot
Reward: Eminent Book of Half Elven Culture

Objective Instructions
Kill 20 Strong Sentinels 0/20 (Thundercrest Isles)
Make impressions of the chest engravings on strong sentinels 0/5 (Thundercrest Isles)
Kill 10 Flameweave Menders 0/10 (The Accursed Nest)
Make impressions of the bracer engravings of flameweave menders 0/2 (The Accursed Nest)
Deliver the impression book to an artisan of your race 0/1 (ALL)

Edit/Note: kk just found out, for the tasks , when it says "make an impression" or such, those stepes seem to be updated randomly upon killing the needed mobs for the task. Doing the Eminent quest for half elfs now and when i killed a strong sentinel i just got this message, in yellow:
"You find a pattern that speaks to you of your culture and make an impression of it."

I have to say that the master's version of this, it was nasty. I took my 65 Ranger friend out there with my 56 druid using succor to get through sirens grotto. The rats are on the far end of the zone in a tunnel to the right, and at the very far end up of the zone in that temple. You can get there easy with invis.

We found that would could kill the first four in the tunnel before we got to a trapped area. We would hang close to the wall, with some spider adds, and kill the rats. Any rat will do for loot count.

We found that the rats in the temple were easier in the end cause you did not get the spider adds. The three in the front can be pulled one at a time and the one in the tunnel can be done right where he stands making sure not to get too close to the entrance to get the spider adds. If you are facing the back of the temple, there is a trap on the right wall. I used the old set pet to guard to figure out where that was. (pet will look in the direction of danger seen or unseen) We invised and went around the left side of the lava pit to the back wall. ( have seen rats wander out of the pit from time to time, they head out the front of the temple ) There are mobs on the four sides of the pit and we began by killing the one on the back side, while we stayed against the back wall. We found that would could root, shoot, and dot , all while staying in one square of the checkered floor, with the mob in the same square. This was time consuming and there were a few times when we pulled the far side of the room that we got more then one. You can guess which of the pulls will get adds as they are the ones pretty close to eachother.

If I had this to do over again, I would say take a group, and mass kill. Remeber where the traps are, they will not spring everytime to cross them, but they spring several mobs. Have a healer cause they were dark blue to yellow to this 56 druid. They hit hard and some of them cast.

As for the horn, we had to kill more then the 80 cause in the 80 kills, not one single horn dropped. We went back the next night and got two in one hour.

Ok where does one get "Seals Of Darkhollow?" Is it supposed to be in this thread w/ the DoN armor/aug missions? Anyone with some info on how to obtain the "Seals of Darkhollow" would be appreciated Thanks!
