This is a single group trial.

The Projection of Arcana may be found at -1090.44, 1722.92, -306.85.

You say, 'Hail, Projection of Arcana'

Projection of Arcana says 'Halt, Dark Elf, and hear my words. Your background and your status are of no consequence. All are welcome to participate in the trials to prove their worth, or die trying. Whosoever approaches me has addressed the embodiment of Arcana, keeper of the trials of Efficiency and Specialization. The former is a small-scale test, while the latter is large-scale. My task is to explain the rules and usher hopefuls into the battle arena. Would you like to hear the rules for [small-scale] or [large-scale] trials, or do you wish to enroll in [Efficiency] or [Specialization]?'

You say, 'Small-scale.'

Projection of Arcana says 'Every test has its rules and these trials are no exception. The following guidelines must be followed to the letter, or else you stand to forfeit or perish. You are allowed no more than six participants in the battle. Once the trial has begun, you must remain in the combat area. Violators of this rule will be warned and then destroyed. Your progress will be carefully monitored. If you take too long, you will fail. These are the rules and they are not negotiable.'

You say, 'Efficiency?'

Projection of Arcana says 'While it can be admirable to defeat the opposition while in prime condition, a more accurate test of one's mettle is to tackle an opponent while fatigued and weary - yet still walk away victorious. If you have this ability, now is the opportunity to prove your worth!'

On zoning into the trial, you will find the Master of Efficiency standing on the central podium..

You say, 'Hail'

Master of Efficiency says 'This is the Mastery of Efficiency trial. You must demonstrate your ability to function under less than perfect conditions, battling with limited resources. Are you ready to [begin]?'

You say, 'begin'

The trial has begun. You cannot bring any additional people into your expedition at this time.

Master of Efficiency says 'Very well! Let the battle commence!'

All mobs in this trial are fully slowable.

This trial is similar to the Trial of Execution in the Plane of Justice. You must survive four waves of 3-4 mobs, and kill them in sufficient time (you have four minutes per wave). The mobs involved are a Muramite soldier (mezzable), an elite Muramite soldier (unmezzable), and "Muramite Commander" (unmezzable).

Note: Every five minutes, the unresistable AE Test of Efficiency goes off.

When the final wave's four minute timer runs out (and assuming you've actually survived), the Enforcer of Efficiency spawns and attacks. Kill him to win the trial. A Shell of the Master spawns with the loot.

Need all dialogues, /loc of quest-giver, emotes during fight, time limit for expedition, lockout timers for success and failure, minimum group size to get expedition.

Is the Projection of Arcana no longer the NPC that gives this task?

Projections outside the instance but in the open Proving grounds zone give the expedition. Masters inside the instance start the events.

I kinda wish you could hail the Master of Effeciency to have waves spawn sooner, these are dying in ~30 seconds and I have to wait another several minutes twiddling my thumbs. =P

Agreed. Or maybe just ask to get all the waves at once. I don't mind doing these fun old missions to ramp up my group's resists but the waiting is tedious.

Just two maned this with my 100 ranger (4.4k aas) and 93 shammy (2.3k aas) and tank merc lvl 93 ..... quite easy .. sat near the Master of Efficiency and did not bother with the curing the dot ... just let tank merc demolish the entire thing did not need a single heal

Prophet darant is correct; 85 SK who skipped the trials decided to merc solo this one; killed each wave in <1 minute. Could be done without a merc if you have pots or can leech hp.

There must be 3 players (1 can be a mercenary) in the zone to get things to start. Otherwise the NPC won't start the trial.

I am currently in the trial with 2 toons and no mercs at any point - waiting on last wave now.

So it definitely can be started with 2. There must be some other component if you were forced to have 3.

Easy trial if you rely on melee.

1. Once you enter, go to the wall behind the Master of Efficiecy.
2. Someone hail the master and start the event
3. First thing to happen is the dot is cast, which cannot be cured. Whatever you read stating otherwise, the only way to cure it is to die and I highly doubt you would be interested in going that route.

This is an event where you really want to rely on melee, mercs work fine if you need dps.

Having a druid, shammy, beasty, or cleric is sufficient for keeping up with heals as the only one that really should be getting a heal is the MT and unless you lack dps, you may not even need to heal until the last encounter.

If you leave the battle area you will get about four emotes stating you are in violation of the rules, if you don't comply to the warning, you will be insta-killed.

Keep in mind this event is not about how fast you kill, it's about how well you manage your resources to stay alive. If you kill all the mobs in a wave in under 15s, you still have to wait 2min or so until the next wave, so med and use auras during that time, if you have them.

Other than that, kind of easy with today's gear so even a group of lvl 70's with good AA and gear could easily do this.
"becomes targetable"
# Sep 07 2009 at 11:20 AM Rating: Decent
"...the Enforcer of Efficiency will become targetable."

This is inaccurate, he does not exist until the timer runs out, he spawns and attacks.

I thought this meant the Master, or that the master became the enforcer, but the master was still up until the enforcer was dead, then the master also died and left a shell, which was lootable.

# May 29 2009 at 2:16 PM Rating: Decent
I don't know if anyone has posted about this yet but..

"Note: Every five minutes, the unresistable AE Test of Efficiency goes off. You will want to cure it as soon as possible with RC3."

we did this last night, i have my RC maxed and it didnt do a thing aginst this "dot" i tried every cure spell i had and nothing. from what i can tell its not curable. not that it really made a difference we killed each eave in about 1min (me, mage, cleric merc, and tank merc).

just wanted to know did they change it to be not curable or did i miss something?

Although you can request the task with just yourself and a merc, it physically requires at least 2 PC characters in the zone to begin

I didn't see this posted but even after you kill a wave you may see this message 'The Voice of the Trial Master rings in your ears, 'You have two minutes remaining to complete your task' or how ever long you might have. This does not mean you only have 2 minutes to complete the task. Thats just how long it will be until the next wave of mobs comes at you. When i first saw that i was pissed, cause i figured the events were bugged especially after waiting a minute and a half and not seeing a single spawn but when another wave came i realized the message i had gotten was just wrong. It would have been true if mobs were still up though.

Solo'd
# Jan 12 2009 at 9:11 PM Rating: Default
This task, if you happen to have lazy in the past and not done it by level 85, can be solo'd by a good dps melee class. Had 4100 AC as a warrior and merc healing and managed to solo this with my merc. No great accomplishment to write home about, but I thought I would just let those needing their resist maximums boosted know it is easy.

Any other toons in attendance can sit on their butts

Did this trial today and it was pretty easy. Had a group Makeup of 79 shaman 22khp 15k mana, 79 Cleric 16.5k hp 13k mana, and 76 Necro 16k hp, 14k mana (though everyone's hps dropped 40% and mana 30% upon beginning trial). Shaman tanked most mobs with the cleric picking 1 or 2 off at a time. Necro just dotted shaman's mobs. Healing used was pretty much shaman and clerics 2.0s, extra healing was shaman HoT. Killed every wave in a little less than 3 mins. Everyone had about 20% mana by the time named spawned. He died in about a minute and a half. Fairly easy these days.
Test of Efficiency dot
# Apr 02 2008 at 1:20 AM Rating: Decent
The below information is no longer correct on the dot.

It seems to strip 40% of your total HP and 30% of your total mana. Tested with 23k ranger and it left him with 14.9k. My shaman also has 15k mana and left him with just over 10k.

The dot is not cureable with anything that a shaman has at lvl 80 including max RC.

If you were to take 2 clerics that have the AA DA culd thay use this on 2 of the group members and then use ther own DA spell for them. BTW i have not atempted this mission but as this line of spells make you invunerable it might save the mana for the casters to realy do some damage in this mission.

Hope this might work

The Master of Efficiency -- Speak to him to start the trial.

Once you defeat all four waves, the Enforcer of Efficiency then appears and you need to kill him for the win.

Group trials gain you the six levels of the AA "Trials of Mata'Muram" AA (each level adds 5 to your resist caps).

6 x 8 = 48

6 x 5 = 30

Bump is 30 to resists, not 48.

Could be they give as many as 8 and as few as 3, but in the end, the increase is 30.

So far I've done 3 of the group trials and each trial has increased my resistance stats by 8.

The Mastery of Destruction (Group):
You have improved Trials of Mata Muram 1 at a cost of 0 ability points.
The understanding you have gained by completing one of Mata Muram's trials has increased your maximum resistances.
(went from 750 > 758)

The Mastery of Efficiency (Group):
You have improved Trials of Mata Muram 2 at a cost of 0 ability points.
The understanding you have gained by completing one of Mata Muram's trials has increased your maximum resistances.
(went from 758 > 766)

The Mastery of Fear (Group):
You have improved Trials of Mata Muram 3 at a cost of 0 ability points.
The understanding you have gained by completing one of Mata Muram's trials has increased your maximum resistances.

Neither Resplendent Cure, Radiant Cure, nor Purify would cure the AE. One of our groupmates died and got the AE immediately when he zoned back in. The mobs (lightning warrior models) are extremely resistant.

I'm not sure exactly what equation the AE uses for how much HP, Mana, End come off your total pool, but here are our numbers:

Enchanter HP .....pre-DoT 8304. .....post-DoT 5703
Enchanter Mana .....pre-DoT 7916. .....post-DoT 4416

Paladin HP .....pre-DoT 13516. .....post-DoT 9249
Paladin mana .....pre-DoT 8201. .....post-DoT 4701

Mage HP .....pre-DoT 9113. .....post-DoT 6384
Mage mana .....pre-DoT 9105. .....post-DoT 5425

For the paladin and enchanter, the DoT reduced our total mana pool by almost exactly 3500 points (~44%), and reduced our HP pool by ~31%. The mage lost 3680 mana (~40%).

Anyone try charm?
# Nov 09 2005 at 1:42 PM Rating: Decent
I am in Iraq now and can't get to the beastiary site to check the levels on these mobs.
Has anyone tried charming the mobs yet?
when i was doing the trials in justice we found this to be an effective method to turn the tides. instead of off tanking the non mezzable mobs i would charm one of the weaker mezzable mobs and send it after the non mezable. that way i only have to mez 1 other mob and it adds alot of dps to the group. Normally when the big nonmezzabe guy was dead my pet and the other non mez guy would be under 30%. I go invis to break pet when almost dead and the group normally had them both dead before my runes dropped, then just finish off the last mezzed and preslowed mob that has been patiently waiting in line to die.
I know this method can be dangerous but a smart chanter (with total domination and other aa maxed out) and if the mobs are to big to charm then ignore this post.
RE: Anyone try charm?
# Nov 12 2005 at 9:57 PM Rating: Decent
Yes you can either Mezz or Charm the Soldiers, Compel works fine, and Edict is a great way to add dps.....as well as a much needed mana free form of crowd control. Personally I try to save Stasis and Edict for the last wave, unless the groups dps is lacking and I need to burn them early. Using them on the Last Wave though will let you nuke through the entire wave, or med if needed for mana to burn the named.

Group Makeup: SK Ranger Cleric Enchanter Bst Monk

4 Waves, 4 mobs each wave. 1 commander, 1 elite, and 2 soldiers.

You can no longer avoid or cure the aoe. The Aoe lasts for 10 minutes, and will recast itself when it drops, during the middle of the third wave. Aoe is -3.5k hp mana and endurance and a 20 per tick hp/mana/end drain. Will go into your first open buff slot, or overwrite the effect in your first slot if all others are full. No longer overwrites any sort of mana regen. Makes this kinda interesting. Make sure you have a modrod.

Ranger is main assist and will give you targets. Commander is killed first, due to highest hp/dps. Sk offtanks remainder of unmezzable mobs and the mezzables are cc'd.
Have your sk running mental corruption, as he or she can use that to feed mana to the rest of the group via bites.

Pious elixer works exceedingly well for this. Cast one on your ma and one on the tank before each wave begins, and once aggro is established, sit.

Each time I've done this, the master has spawned in the middle of my group. He does not spawn when the last mob dies, he spawns when the timer for the final wave runs out. He does not hit hard (1200) and is slowable, though he does root. Try to burn him down, provided that you have any mana or endurance left.

Relo is correct, the AE has changed to the way he describes it.

However, the final named actually spawns on the east wall, behind the master. Most trials you do from the east wall, but this one is better to set up on north or south wall to give your MA a chance to grab agro.
Is it still possible?
# Apr 26 2005 at 4:52 PM Rating: Decent
so if you get hit by 3.5K nuke against your manna and you get hit 3 times thats 10.5K. plus the dot and casting there is no way to win the trial if you go the full 15 minutes. If bard DA doesnt work that mean you have to zerg extreemly fast so you dont get hit by very many rounds?. Can anyone tell me if he mobs HP isnt that high and it is possible to kill all the waves in 10 minutes so you dont get hit by the 3rd AE?

It's a 3.5 k pool drain, Ie, you lose 3.5 k off your maximum at that time. It wears off in ten minutes. It will recast itself when it wears off, and doesn't stack with itself. So, you will return to your normal hp/mana/endurance before it casts itself again.

This trial is actually longer than 15 minuts. Each wave has a four minute timer, so the base trial is 16 minutes + the time it takes you to kill the master, however long that may be.

Mobs don't have a disgusting amount of hp. Make sure the commanders(unmezzable) die first, the elites(unmezzable) after that. The soldiers don't hit very hard at all.

# Apr 25 2005 at 11:50 PM Rating: Good
If you zone the tank in last, dead last(meaning you have the adventure, but haven't begun it yet), the mobs that pop will run for him. Yeah it isnt like a magnet in sense you can have cleric standing ontop of pops and expect them to ignore him but as long as the Tank is standing out front of the group you should have no mob warps onto casters or them running all over place. It'll help greatly with keeping mobs bunched together and allowing tank/chanter to do their jobs.

Confirmed. For some strange reason, the four pops and master will aggro whoever zones in last.

Did this 3 times in the last week. Attempt 1: I (the cleric) zoned in last. Mobs would attack me at the beginning of each wave. I da'd, and the enforcer of efficiency beat on my shield for 2 rounds before going off to find someone else to play with.

Attempt 2: Rogue zoned in last. Same deal. Target da'd him for the master.

Attempt 3: Sk zoned in last. Mobs aggroed him initially on each wave.
