Can do this quest at dubious faction.
Turn-in works at threatening. He's a guild master so he doesn't aggro. Which leads me to believe it might work at any faction level.

You only get the bow as a reward for the Gnoll Poacher's head. The human Poacher's Head gets you a few gold only.

I turned in the "Gnoll Head" (that identifies as "Gnoll Poacher Head"). The turn-in dialog and faction hits were as given above.
I received 8 gold and small amount of experience, and also a "Rough Elm Recurve Bow" appeared in inventory. The exact version of the bow is the 51 delay / 13 damage version, as per the link in the previous sentence.

and I still pull up my track window and look for poachers whenever I am in SFG. I love killing them. Also, kill the poachers in Toxxulia. They are lower level and their heads work just as well for the turn in.

Anyone have solid respawn spots on the human poacher? I couldn't find my notes but if memory is right he respawns every 15min. and have seen him repop by waterfall and close the entrance by Druid's guild, but haven't locked down a repop pattern on him.
The gnoll poacher is good when you can find him. The bow sells for a decent amount of money if you're still low enough to get xp from killing him. Once he becomes green, you can make better money elsewhere. I go back to SFG now and again and always keep my track window active in case there's a poacher in the cave. I already had my Trueshot the first time I saw the gnoll poacher, so the reward bow wasn't worth much to me except some fast cash. Lowbies don't even want these bows. I guess the ratio isn't good enough.

ok ive got a 15th monk and just turned in a defiler head to the chick on the right and i got back a rusty pine druid scimitar that is lore item and i cant sell it to vendor. what is it for? can anyone shed some light on this?

Zean, When you turned in the head to her, she should have told you to sharpen the rusty scrimtar in a forge with a sharpening stone, and return the sharpened scrimtar to her, along with a Gnoll Fang, and a Large King Snake Skin. If you do that, then you'll get a MAGIC/LORE/NO DROP scrimtar, that your MNK can't use (only for DRU, HUM or HEF). But, you will get xp, & mostly positive faction hits (+Jaggedpine Treefolk, +Protectors of the Pine, +QRG Protected Animals, minus Unkempt Druids, and +Guards of Qeynos). I learned about the Gnoll Poacher/Rough Elm Recurve Bow quest from someone I grouped with (thank you Knathelin). So there I was, camped out in the cave practicing my Fletching, Swimming, and various magic skills (Divination mostly) killing poachers and raising my faction. I must have been there a total of 4 hours off and on over a couple days. I had just finished killing off 'a poacher' and 'Poacher' and was medding back up when I pulled up my tracking and BOOM...there he was... 'Gnoll Poacher'. Tracked him down, snared him and WHack! WhaCk!...down he went. He spawned at exactly 1:50 a.m. Eastern Time. I probably sandbagged a bit being a 15 Ranger but as I said I had just learned of the quest. I was still getting XP and 3-5 gp for each poacher's head I brought in, and I did get the Bow so it wasn't a complete waste of time. I also raised my Fletching skill by 23 points during that time...just in time to make some kick-a$$ arrows for my new bow.

Salmekia Treherth is the "chick on the right inside the tree". She took the poacher head and gave me XP and faction, but would not take the Bloodsaber Defilers head. Does anyone have the correct info for this head?
Dammit, my mistake and my apologies. That is the correct chick that requires the Bloodsaber Defilers head. I gave the wrong one it seems.

While in surefall i caught the gnoll poacher on track so i killed him and got his head, but after killing him i spotted a Bloodsabre Defiler who i killed and she dropped her head and a tarniched dagger. Her head is no drop, if anyone has any information on this please disclose.

I was in Surefall and was killing some time talked the the first ranger inside the building on the water. I traded him 4 poachers heads he gave me exp and a because 1 was a gnoll poacher I received a rough elm bow. He then gave me instructions to talk to Haggar Sureshot and ask him of a Master Poacher. So I went out to the range to talk to Haggar and he informs me if I abide by the laws in surefall and asked if I would like to find this Master Poacher I would get a reward. Although he did not mention the reward he gave me a name Talym Shoontar bring back his head. He also gave me a location Karna Planes. Well needless to say I searched WK, then NK and EK could not find this guy on track. I was talking to another player and was told the he spawns in QH and simetimes in the Fish bar. Can anyone clear up this confilct of spawns where and when.

Ive seen Shoontar a few times, he walks thru Qeynos hills from WK to Qeynos. He is a barbarian, blue to to a 29. I've seen him at night, not sure if that's his normal time.

I was killing Gnolls in Black Burrow and decided to pop over to Surefall Glade to see if my faction had changed at all there. It hadn't and I didn't feel like going back to Black Burrow at that point so I decided to explore the bear caves. To my surprise I saw a Gnoll Poacher and thinking quest killed him in a slash or two. Picked up his head and turned it in for the bow. The guy who hands it out was willing to do so for a a lvl 36 barbarian who he was dubious to. If anyone wants one of these on the Rathe Sever, send Kurasch a tell.

The gnoll poacher is _very_ puny: he has less than 100 hits and is, at a guess, below 5th level. However, he is pretty rare and there will usually be a regular poacher instead. The regular poachers con high blue to my 11th druid and hit hard. The most common spawn point I have seen is on the little ledge overlooking the water. I would guess they spawn every 10-15mins or so, but I have seen one spawn right after the other, have also waited longer with no spawn. Also a druid/ranger NPC sits in the cave quite often and kills the poachers if she sees them, which may explain why sometimes you can't find one for a while.

Actually, if you do the statue quests enough, your faction with the bears goes up. Or any other quest with QRG Protected Animals that goes up.

I turned in 2 poachers heads that I got in the Toxx Forest to the ranger in the guild. He said "thanks for the donation" or words to that effect. No exp, no reward, no faction. Could it be because I was a level 7 ranger? Must one be 10 or older?
