Sandak may be found in the Wall of Slaughter (/loc -695, -1295).

You say, 'Hail, Sandak'

Sandak says 'Greetings stranger, I have heard of your efforts on behalf of my people. It has been long since anyone, dragorn included, has stood against the Muramites. I once was a great warrior myself. I fought in the battles with the Legions of Mata Muram as the flooded into Kuua. I lost many [friends] in those battles, and have since seen [mementos] of my childhood destroyed and left in ruins.'

You say, 'What friends?'

Sandak says 'While I lost many comrades-in-arms, there was one in particular that I regret losing most. His name was Zakariv. We were very close from the first days of our training through the time of The Darkening. It was then, when the dragorn people began turning upon each other that Zakariv and I began to argue. The arguments were small differences in opinion at first, fights over which direction the feran we were tracking went or where to camp the night. All too quickly these arguments degenerated into brawls between the two of us. It wasn't long before we had our [final disagreement].'

You say, 'What final disagreement?'

Sandak says 'With the coming of the Legion of Mata Muram, Zakariv fell in with a group of dragorn who saw the legion as a chance to achieve greater glory and power. He urged me to join them and drew his sword when I refused his offer. Rather than fight my friend I turned my back and walked away. That was the last I saw of him until that fateful day at the [portal].'

You say, 'What portal?'

Sandak says 'I believe it was a portal into your world, stranger. We had made an agreement with the riftseekers to close that portal in an attempt to defy and weaken the Muramites. I had joined with Rurof the Negotiator and his army. We marched to the portal and took the Muramites by surprise. I fought for several hours before becoming grievously wounded by a kyv arrow. As I stumbled out of the battle to tend my wound, I glimpsed Zakariv for just a moment in a thick cluster of fighting seeming to just be struggling to stay alive. I was only able to see him for a moment before the bloody mobs swept him from my view. Shortly after I had left the site of the battle there was a horrendous [explosion].'

You say, 'What explosion?'

Sandak says 'The explosion came from the portal and was caused by the traitorous riftseekers. It ripped through the battlefield without discrimination, destroying much of Rurof's forces along with a great many Muramites. Still, the price was too high. I have not had the strength to fight the legion since then, though I mourn the loss of my friend and deeply regret that I was unable to make amends before his death. Perhaps if I were able to retrieve his [sword] I could do proper honor to his memory.'

You say, 'What sword?'

Sandak says 'Zakariv's sword was a work of art, not only beautiful to see, but deadly in battle. I've heard of shattered relics from that battle turning up where scavengers have left them. If you could search for Zakariv's sword or at least the pieces of it and return them to me I'm sure I could find some way to reward you.'

All four pieces are rare drops from various murkgliders in Nobles' Causeway.

Sandak says 'This... this is amazing. I never thought to have anything to remember Zakariv by. Thank you for returning these pieces to me. I will have them reforged and once again this weapon will be amazing to behold! Here, take this cloak as a reward. It was one that I wore in my days as a warrior. Perhaps some of the enchantments on it will still prove useful.'

Your faction standing with Dranik Loyalists got better.
Your faction standing with Overlord Mata Muram got worse.
You gain experience!!

Melee and hybrid classes receive a Cloak of the Dragorn Militia. Priest and caster classes receive a Woven Cape of the Militia.

Level 60 quest
# Apr 26 2007 at 11:58 AM Rating: Decent
All drops for this quest come from Noble's Causeway, a 60-65'ish zone. Some level 60 classes would be able to solo murkgliders, but most would need a group.

Kiting murks in NC is a little better xp than the old standby kite spot at PoV outer. They can be mezzed, snared, rooted, charmed, slowed .. not sure about Fear but I bet they can be. They do not summon. Some murks proc a poison DoT and some proc a magic based snare.

Because some murks proc a snare it is not advisable to quad or swarm kite.

The turn in NPC is in WoS, but there are no level requirements to enter the zone. As long as you're level 60 and have at least warmly faction you can do the turn in and get the reward.

Nobles
# Jun 19 2005 at 11:20 AM Rating: Decent
Was in NC at BL/poisionous camp and dropped the four pieces at least twice each in the span of 5 hours, also got a little bit of faction from camp and am now at kindly. We pulled both dragorns and murks of different types, basically anything that was close. Held camp with a 70 necro/66 chanter. Hope this helps anyone looking for that last piece.
Minimum Level?
# Feb 20 2005 at 3:39 AM Rating: Decent
Does this quest have a min lvl? I mean the cloak is lvl 60 but would lvl 59 be an ok lvl for turnin or would he just eat the pieces?
cape
# Jan 04 2005 at 12:09 AM Rating: Decent
funny the reward is a cape. then while killing murks to get the parts you might get the Regen 2 DS 4 cape that is arguably better than this cape fromt he quest. heh... typical

Question for those who done it
# Nov 25 2004 at 8:44 PM Rating: Decent
I was wondering for those who have done it. Can you just hand in items without the dialog. He in an area that could get you a mob agro. Would be faster just to hand to him get and run hehe. Let me know if anyone completing this did that.

works just fine.

# Nov 24 2004 at 2:20 AM Rating: Good

Faction Hits
# Nov 17 2004 at 10:46 AM Rating: Default
Besides Nocs, and Kyvs, Dragorn Armsmen in NC also help. Noticed faction was getting better with the Dranik Loyalists. Then went to MPG and killed Dragorn Sentenials, faction became worse for killing those.

Take another look. The dragorns in MPG have neg faction hits to 'Children of Dranik'. Its not the same faction as 'Dranik Loyalists'. Even with the neg faction I've taken killing dragorns, the Children of Dranik is right back to could not get better almost immediatley. Its not even worth paying attention to. Every mob you kill that gives loyalist + hit, also gives children + hit.

What Faction ?
# Nov 04 2004 at 3:14 AM Rating: Decent
Did not see anywhere about what faction is needed, atm i am tryin to raise Loyalist faction would be a bonus if it was same faction, but a major bummer if i need to raise another faction that i could be lowering while tryin to raise loyalist faction

RE: What Faction ?
# Nov 04 2004 at 11:40 PM Rating: Decent
It is Dranik Loyalist faction that is needed for this quest. It needs to be warmly or better.

Cloak kinda disappointing for melee really-AC too low-guess thats the problem with it seperated into melee and non melee rather than tank/dps/caster
Pieces
# Oct 24 2004 at 10:13 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know if all 4 pieces can drop of the "a murkglider's" that are next to the ZI, or do i need to kill the stalkers, spiritsappers, and stingers for each different part?
RE: Pieces
# Oct 25 2004 at 5:47 PM Rating: Decent

I cannot verify for sure that all pieces drop from different Murkgliders, but if this part is true, from the experiences of our normal group:

Stingers drop the Hilt

Stalkers drop the Tip

Again, I cannot state this with great certainty, but seems to be the case so far.

sneak/indiff does not work

Further information. I finally got the 4th drop and went back to Sandak. I play a ranger so I clicked on sneak and got on the rock behind him so I remained at indifferent faction. When I gave him the 4 items, I did not get the "you must turn in all of the items" message, leading me to think I had all that was needed. However, he refused to accept them, so I think either it needs to be true indiff faction, or more likely, even to do the turn in requires greater than indif faction.
RE: sneak/indiff does not work

I'm pretty sure you need at least Warmly for faction with these guys.
