On the docks of the Iceclad pirate base is Translocator Kurione.

You say, 'Hail, Translocator Kurione'

Translocator Kurione says, "Hello there. There seems to be some strange problems with the boats in this area. The Academy of Arcane Sciences has sent a small team of us to investigate them. If you need to [travel to North Ro] in the meantime, I can transport you to my companion there. We also just recently discovered that Joshel has been stranded over in the middle of the ocean since the problems with the boats started. If you'd be willing to go see if he's ok, I may be able to [teleport you near there]. Keep in mind though that it will be a one way trip. There is no one on the island able to send you back.'

You say, 'Teleport me near there'

You are teleported near the dock at the island in the far northeastern corner of Iceclad Ocean. Search for Joshel the Large on the other side of the island.

You say, 'Hail, Joshel the Large'

Joshel the Large says, 'That's right. Large, cause that's what I be. If'n ya don't like it, or even if ya do, ya best get to the dock on the other side o' this island. Ya never know when [Icebreaker] is gonna stop by again and yet not wantin' ta miss it.'

You say, 'What Icebreaker?'

Joshel the Large says, 'What about it? Wait. How did you get here? There weren't no raft come to this island. Come to think o' it, I don't think I've heard hide nor hair o' the Icebreaker for a while. Well, drat. I wonder if anyone's been looking for me. Here, have this bandana to let whoever know that I'm alright. Thanks for checking up on me, but I'll be ok here for a while longer.'

You receive Joshel's Bandana.

Swim or succor back to the dock, and give the bandana to Translocator Kurione.

Translocator Kurione says, 'Whew, it's good that you were able to find him, and doing so well. Thanks very much for checking on him for me. I would have done so myself, but with the problems with the boats, I just haven't had the time. Thanks again.'
You gain experience!!

Got exactly 0.004% exp on a level 35 Magician playing on a TLP server during Velius release.

This quest can be performed as soon as Velious unlocks on TLP since the Translocators are used from launch. Joshel was on the island and gave me the bandana. This was tested on Aradune.
no longer alone

Joshel is no longer alone on the island. The first NPC I found was in a hut. Found Joshel and completed quest. At 34, I recieved no noticable blue xp.

The gain XP thing is just a way to show that it was done correctly in this case.

Perhaps they did this for the warriors epic piece turn in near dock to Fazzle instead of running across zone for 15 min
amount of xp

I just gated my 17 wiz around to test the amount of xp given, and using an xptracker this quest gave me exactly NO xp. So yes please cut the xp in half i don't care....can't get less than 0

Sony justification for such a large *** zone. i guess that after the 5 minute run across and zone to find that theres nothing to do but the "Turn around and go back" quest the reward for which being ....somewhere else.
hmm...

I tried this with my 65 druid and didn't seem to get and exp or reward of any kind, even though it said I did. Thinking I was too high level I tried it with a level 28 alt and still didn't see my exp bar move at all. I camped out and tried it again and my exp bar never moved. What level does one need to be in order to do this one? I had a hard time getting there at 28 in the first place.

What an exciting quest! Get teleported almost directly to the guy, talk to him, go back.

I bet Sony had to dig real deep in their creative pool to come up with that one.

Yeah.. I mean, why would Sony, after so many flames about "too much difficulty" in all the newly added fun... add some trivial easy quest... you know, one out of how many?? You're right.. Sony, please make this painful and gruelling, long and difficult.. and please cut the exp given by half because it's WAYY too much for me to accept....

Please, please... never speak again.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 14 2004 at 2:11 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's a very pointless quest. There are newbie quests that have more point that are HARDER than this. Velious expansion is officially for lvl 35 and up and this quest is completely worthless to that level. The only thing this quest serves to do is **** me off more that they even bothered to slap in this stupid quest when they could have been reworking and fixing the boating code. And in reality there probably is nothing wrong with the code at all, they just did all this and said there was a problem so people can eventually just forget about it and boats will just be forgotton because idiots are too damn stupid to realize you actually need to work at games or anything in life to get something out of it. Sense heading is at 200 for good, you don't have to get your corpse until lvl 10, you don't lose exp until lvl 11, you start with a bag, bandages, extra long lasting food, and now even a better charm than any one that was available when charms were put in. It is painfully apparent the original everquest team is no longer working at Sony and it's even more apparent why they are not, the ********* outnumber the talent. And that is why a lot of the original team is at Sigilgames now making another game without the huge worthless company pushing morons onto their team and messing the game up. Frankly I think it will be better when EQ gets even more unpopular so the fad chasers will get the hell away from the game I love and so will go the idiots who work at sony hopefully onto ruin the next fad. Anyway, that's the way it is...
