Canloe Nusback (Warrior Guildmaster) may be found at -20, +535. He's on Find (Ctrl+F). He's on Storm Guard faction.

You say, 'Hail, Canloe Nusback'

Canloe Nusback says 'Step forward and speak up, young ______! Kaladim can always use another warrior. Are you [ready to serve Kaladim] or has a yellow streak appeared down your back?'

You say, 'I am ready to serve Kaladim.'

Canloe Nusback says 'Then serve you shall. Let your training begin on the battlefields of Faydwer. Seek out and destroy all [Crushbone orcs]. Return their belts to me. I shall also reward you for every two orc legionnaire shoulder pads returned. A warrior great enough to slay one legionnaire shall surely have no problem with another. Go, and let the cleansing of Faydwer begin.'

You say, 'What Crushbone orcs?'

Canloe Nusback says 'The army of the Crushbone orcs is deadly indeed. They are great military strategists. It was a legion of them that brought down the great [Trondle Ogrebane]. Speak with Furtog Ogrebane about the Crushbones. He has need of warriors such as you.'

You say, 'Who is Trondle Ogrebane?'

Canloe Nusback says 'Trondle Ogrebane is the legendary dwarven warrior who single-handedly exterminated the ogre clan called the [Mudtoes]. He was recently killed in battle. It took an entire legion of Crushbone orcs to bring him down. Furtog is still fuming about that.'

You say, 'Who are the Mudtoes?'

Canloe Nusback says 'The Mudtoes were a small clan of ogres. They lived somewhere in the Butcherblock Mountains. They had an insatiable appetite for dwarves. They were finally destroyed by the hand of Trondle Ogrebane.'

Crushbone Belt drop from orc centurions all around Faydwer. Hand one in:

Canloe Nusback says, 'Good work, warrior! Now continue with your training. Only on the battlefield can one become a great warrior.'

Still good newb exp

As of May 2023 at level 3 turning in one belt gets you ~7% exp. Still a really easy way to get a char to level 5 in like 3 minutes if you are able to buy a bunch of belts quick.

edit- at level 4 it drops to ~3% exp, falls off QUICK.

On Rizlona, a level 6 druid turned in 14 belts and went from 6.03 to 6.22, so 14 belts = about 20% of level 6. This has definitely been nerfed from the original game, where this quest was very very good. You do get a piece of leather gear for every turn-in and those sell for a bit over 1gp so I walked away with well over a plat, which doesn't sound like much but it definitely matters at level 6.

Faction went from indifferent to amiable.

Update:

At level 9, 27 belts moved xp bar from 9.04 to 9.21, or 17% of the level. Twice as many belts produced a bit less than the same XP gain as a level 6.

Too bad, this used to be such a great way to cap off a nice long fighting session in Crushbone. Now it's hardly worth the long run to Kaladim.I'll be testing lego pads soon.

All the above is with a +25% XP potion running, incidentally.

On Mangler I went from about 48% to 63% on 16 belts at level 9, so about 1% per belt. It did say experience (with a bonus) during the initial launch and anniversary.

Canloe is in the warrior guild in Kaladim. At level 7 i got about 4% XP per belt handed in. At level 8 I received 3% per belt. At level 10 I received 2% per belt.

Doing this along with the bone chips at the Paladin guild really helps get through those early levels fast.

Having trashed my faction killing guards, I spent some time in CB until I got back to dubious. Dubious allows turn-in of CB belts without getting attacked.

16 bags full (most 8 some 10-slots) got me through Dubious to Apprehensive. Figure that's about 140 belts. Last time I checked "Dubious" runs from -700 to -100 faction points so I think you earn abour 5 faction points per belt turned in.

Another 900 points to WARMLY, so probably need to turn in about 23 more bags full of belts to get to that warm and fuzzy level.

On a level 10 woodelf rogue, got about 3% xp per 2 belts turned in. Compared to turning in 2 crushbone sholderpads for 10% per 2. Tho when I first started it seemed way higher but memory is strange, you remember the good as better and the better as great and usually forget the bad all together.

by the way, you get no xp for this quest while shrouded. I was curious.

Got 6 types of rewards for turning in 54 belts and anywhere from 5 to 15 silver for each turn in.

So reward was "random silver + 1 piece of armor + faction"

Small patchwork sleeves
Small Buckler
Small Tattered Gloves
Small Tattered Skullcap
Small Tattered Sholderpads
Small Patchwork Boots

Faction for a Gnome Necromancer
# Dec 21 2005 at 9:01 PM Rating: Decent
I spent 2 or 3 levels in Crushbone, raised the faction up to dubious. I didn't check what the initial faction was, after several kills it was 'glares threateningly' to the Kaladim warrior faction.

Once I got to dubious, I was able to hand the belts and shoulderpads into Canloe. Must have been about 50 belts and 16 shoulderpads. Faction is now amiable. This also gave me about 4 yellow bubbles of xp at level 14.

They nerfed the exp from these. Also nerfed the exp from the shoulder pads and bone chip hand ins to the paladin guildmaster. Guess they don't want people leveling too fast these days.

Good ole orc belt quest. I like to use these to boost a charactor, but I don't like simply going from 1 to 8. When you do that your skills fall behind. Any time I make a new charactor I have a little process I go through. I basically get them to level 4 off rats, bats, beetles, etc. At level 4 I get me a regen and then train myself with about 4 or 5 rats. I let them beat on me to get my defense maxed. Then I might use belts to get way into 5 and go to crushbone and get to about 9. Then I use belts to get to about 10 or 11 and head to kurns. This way my skills don't fall behind. Depending what class your playing skills can be harder or easier to get.
The best way to do it
# Mar 24 2004 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
I save the cb belts for when i make new chars. I will turn them in till lvl 15 Lvl 10 to 15 is slow. The best way to do it is fight till you get a bunch up then turn them in. That way you melee or casting skills don't take too bad a hit. I have a lvl 14 gnome rouge that skills are maxed out and still turned in alot of belts.
Not Worthless at Low level
# Oct 30 2003 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
I have moved a couple of characters from 1-8 with 3 back packs of belts each(in last month). But at level 12+ the exp is very little.

The other good thing is you get patchwork armour for each belt (and sometimes a buckler) so I sell those or give away when newbies start asking for plat......

The exp in cities was decreased overall, to discourage guard hunting as a levelling path (except for HK). A side effect of that was quest exp in cities was also nerfed. They have since gone through and adjusted the quest exp UP to make up for the zone exp nerf.

So for a short time, this quest was giving poor exp. However, it also gives HUGE faction hits, which is what I like it for. Ally to dwarves very quickly.

I believe they redid the exp they changed in certain town zones. From what I have seen, I think this is included. Can anyone else confirm this?

Is there anyway for a Dark Elf enchanter to do this. I waited till lvl 4, where i got my human and half elf illusions, to go in to Kaladim. But the guards saw through the illusions and killed me rather quickly. So when i repopped in PoK i got invisi and sow, and just for good measure disguised my invisible self as a human. But when i got to the kaladim bank my nvisi disapeared as well as my illusion and i was yet agian killed.

If any of you have any ideas or tips, I'd love to hear them. And if you are on the Seventhhammer server send a tell.

I made a Shadow Knight once, and obviously the Dwarves were KoS to me. I had my friend go into the city while I was waiting at the entrance (inside Kaladim that is) and she turned-in the belts. Since we were grouped I got XP for her turn-ins. No Dwarf contact whatsoever.

Three things affect faction with any mob:

Race
Diety
Actions

With the illusion, your racial portion is "out of the way", but there's still the fact that you've never done anything particularly nice (actions) for them yet, and your diety might be something they hate.

You can do this by killing lots and lots of their enemies FIRST and THEN use the illusion.
CB Belts
# Feb 06 2003 at 2:11 PM Rating: Decent
These belts are a damn good way to get your character from lvl 1 to 10 easy! just get you 8 bags full of CB belts, and there ya go the only problem is when you ding that fast none of your skills go up (example: 1hand blunt will be still at 1 when it should be at 50 soemthing, if you melee alot) so be carefull.

If you have nothing better to do, then sell belts. At least check the merchants. I bought some near docks in Freeport for a few gold. Perhapse I will sell them... Id highly recomend the merchants at bank and docks... and all over Kaladim. Who knows

leveling up too fast
# Aug 01 2002 at 3:49 PM Rating: Decent
It's true this quest is great for faction and exp. In fact just killing orcs is good for both of those at low levels. However if You lvl a new character up to say 7-8 by just turning in belts you'll have a terrible lvl 8 character who gets his *** handed to him by any dark blue con he comes accross. Exp mostly counts for what spells or abilities you gain at that lvl. But being at lvl 7 with while being a lvl 4 at 1 handed slash is horrible!!! You have just lost the best time in your life to gain easy points in weapon and spell skills.
RE: leveling up too fast
# Dec 29 2002 at 4:42 PM Rating: Decent
i agree lvling up to fast is not good. those exp point you spend on getting your basic skills back up should be better spent on tradeskills etc. you loose out on some fun time lvling up thenormal way through to 10.
RE: leveling up too fast
# Aug 02 2002 at 11:45 AM Rating: Excellent
you can spend practices on what ever you need if you have to. all the way to lvl 7 would be 35 practices.
pads vs belts
# Jul 20 2002 at 4:13 PM Rating: Decent
Does it matter if i turn in pads or belts as far
as exp. or reward goes? In GF someone was selling pads for 2p and belts for 1p.
Kinda made me wonder cause i always sell everything (belts/pads) for 1p.

No, it doesn't matter. You only NEED to turn in one at a time. But you can turn in up to four, it's just as if you turned them in sequentially.

I just had to add, oh my God this is a great quest for exp. I had 17 belts from two hours' work on Orc Hill in GFay, and planned to sell them for quick $$$ (young druids are usually broke). Took them to Kaladim/BB because I figured they'd be easier to sell there, but decided to try handing one in to see the exp. My eyes popped out, it's like half a bubble at lev 6. I gave him all 17 belts and went from mid lev 6 to high lev 7. Guess I'll be killing more bats for the cash...

Good Question.. My Iksar SK is now "Kindly Considers" to the warrior guild and guards in Kaladim/Butcherblock. Whatcha want to do is Kill Emp. Crush in CB many times, I am talking about 30times or approximate. Eventually your faction with Storm Guard will be good enough so you can at least walk by them. NOW you can do the CB belts and Shoulderpad quests. You will still be KoS to the cleric guild, pally guild, rogue guild and the King. I am still in the process of turning in belts, over and over.. I have turned in about 100+ and I am still dubious to merchants, and KOS to all of the previous guilds I mentioned. Just have patience, eventually you'll be able to walk ALL OVER Kaladim, as an evil character. :)
