Here's the Vah Shir version:

Omtia Sami says 'Hail to you! Step right up! Step right up! You look like you could use one of the new fireworks we just got in stock! Oh, wait a minute. Are you an [adventurer]?'

You say, 'I am an adventurer.'

Omtia Sami looks you up and down. 'I knew it! I can spot an adventurer from a mile away! How would you like to win this shiny staff I'm holding? It only requires a small undertaking, you know, gathering a few trinkets for me. Nothing could be simpler and you'll soon have your very own Staff of Endless Adventures! Are you [interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested.'

Omtia Sami says 'Excellent, you seemed like a person who would enjoy a good game. Here is a bag to combine some items and a cheat-sheet to give you some hints on where to find these trinkets. Don't ask me for any more hints though. This is all you get! Once you are done, bring back the bag and you'll be rewarded nicely!'

You receive A Collector's Cheat Sheet and a 10-slot Collection Bag. The text of the cheat sheet is as follow:

1) An orb that aids humans on their dark journey through the land of Gix.
2) The framework of grotesque guardians.
3) The cause of the vilest stench on Odus.
4) To bathe safely in the flames of Ro, you'd be lucky to have this natural protection.
5) Once amphibians begin to rot, they have no need of this blithering tool.
6) The undead guard against the portal of terror with this sharp weapon.
7) A liquid hoop from the masters of the kitchen.
8) This stuffed toy will likely smell of rodent.
9) The diseased mongrel will really miss this well-kept orb.
10) A close look at this pointy object and you'll understand how the weeping began.

The ten items are as follows:

1) A Collector's Lightstone, dropped by wisps in Commonlands.
2) A Collector's Mistmoore Granite, dropped by gargoyles in Castle Mistmoore.
3) A Collector's Skunk Scent Gland, dropped by skunks in Toxxulia Forest.
4) A Collector's Fire Goblin Skin, dropped by goblins in Solusek's Eye (Sol A).
5) A Collector's Undead Froglok Tongue, dropped by undead frogloks in Lower Guk.
6) A Collector's Scythe, dropped by spectres near the entrance to the Plane of Fear in the Feerrott.
7) A Collector's Water Ring, dropped by aqua goblins in Dagnor's Cauldron.
8) A Collector's Kerran Doll, dropped by kerran villagers on Kerra Isle in Toxxulia Forest.
9) A Collector's Preserved Split Paw Eye, dropped by gnolls in South Karana.
10) A Collector's Shark Tooth, dropped by sharks in the Ocean of Tears.

Combine the ten items in your Collection Bag to craft a Sealed Collection Bag. Hand this in to the quest-giver in your hometown for one of five varieties of Staff of Endless Adventure dependent on your character's creation date (e.g., March 2000 and before yields the Nagafen version), with each year casting a different fireworks display to celebrate EverQuest's fifth anniversary!

Decided to do the quest really fast tonight before the patch. Spent 1 hour in WC trying to find a willow wisp, and another hour in MM looking for Gargoyle's. the rest went really fast until I got to Kerren Isle second to last piece I killed tons of them but never got the doll and there was only 5 min left, so I never got my clicky fireworks thing and I really wanted it...

From village swim acorss to maze area. Those usually drop the doll pretty quick. Got mine in 2 kills. Good luck and good hunting.

You still have time. IT's in game as of 3/31/04. I've heard it will end tonight and I've also heard it will end on the 15th. Either way, hurry.

You can still get the doll. I just got one today. Also seen the piece from paw drop. Fabled are all up too so events still going on. Skunks however suck. Been told that they are popping under the world.

You had to kill the Kerrans in the "village" area to get the doll (or, at least there was a much better chance of them dropping there). I helped several people get their firework stick and thats where we had success getting that particular bit. Specifically, we killed all the cats in the little huts and around the fire pit.

Still Offered?

Has anyone been having problems completing parts of this quest as of today? I was up last night getting all the items, and when I got to Mistmoore. I spent about 2 hours there with no drops from the gargoyles.

I'm just curious if maybe if the gargoyle part is the longest...

In Neriak, before you go through the first castle gate, go right alone the castle wall instead. She will be a few steps in that direction. Was tricky for me to find as well. Even had a guide trying to help me find her.

Something I foudn that might help people is:

1. KErrans towards the back of the zone drop the loot more often

2. Splitpaws in the jail area drop the loot like crazy

3. The Gargoyles up around the bathroom area had the granite more often then enough.

4. Hunt the sharks near Sister Isle.

Hope that helps some. Yea my friend spent 2 hours hunting the gnolls near the zone in splitpaw and never did get it. Then he went to the jail area and killed 3 and 2 of them had the loot.

I had fun doing this quest as I had not been to many of the zones listed.

The drops requiring the most kills was the Kerran Doll and the Splitpaw Eye; the rest I got within 3 kills.

The Undead Froglok Tongue was the easiest once I got to Lower Guk; someone had killed a ghoul froglok and left the tongue, I just looted and left!

2 gargoyles, 2 skunks, 1 goblin, 2 willowisps, 3 spectres, 1 aqua goblin and 1 shark.

Since I didn't know the zones (plus the items that did take a while to drop) and being that I didn't port anyway but ran, this quest took me close to 4 hours.

I did this with a 58 Warrior and never needed a healing, although on the Splitpaw one it got close, and all were green mobs.
Easy... A relative term...
# Mar 25 2004 at 9:02 AM Rating: Default
I've done this quest 3 times now. Once for myself on my 61 Druid, then twice more as a taxi service for friends... The first time I did it, the hardest part for me was Mistmoore and those darn gargs... I was there 45 min before I got the granite to drop. When I went again with friend #1, she basically got every piece to drop with the first kill except the Sol A part. That maybe took 3 kills. *grrrr* hehe.

Now, that third time was just a NIGHTMARE! LOL This is why I say Easy is a relative term. I died... Yes indeed my lvl 61 Druid butt died. In Lesser Fay even. hehe Right as my friend (65 BL) and I were zoning into MM, I see "The Spirit of Malevolence hits you for..." and then I was blind. When the blindness cleared I was naked and at my bind point. Apparently a Beastlord was trying to do part of his epic and his force was not strong enough to take down this particular spirit.

I memmed Steamfont, ported in, landed ontop of someone SITTING IN THE PORT IN SPOT (Why do people find the need to do stupid things like that?) and fell for over half of my naked HP in damage, so almost died again there. Ran back to MM entrance to a pile of corpses all slain by the Spirit who was STILL up.

Got a rez and as I was looting my corpse, Spirit came back and attacked again. This time I made it to the MM zone safely. During all this, my lvl 65 friend had gotten his granite on the first kill so as soon as I looted and rez effects left, we bailed. Dunno if the other BL ever did kill his Spirit or not.

On to LGuk... My BL friend makes it to LGuk before me because I got sidetracked and had to succor back to entrance of UGuk and start over again. hehe Anyway, I get to LGuk and my friend's health is at 30%. I start to run into LGuk to get to him and toss a heal, instead a run into the zone and zone back into UGuk. By the time I zone back into LGuk, 65 BL friend is dead. LOL

Apparently he crossed paths with one of the fabled mobs that hits REALLY hard. =P Anyway, I log on my cleric and run her to LGuk, rez him, we get the last piece for his wand and call it a night.

So anyway, when someone tells you that 'such and such is a piece of cake', remember, it is all relative. =P

RE: nerf?
# Mar 30 2004 at 6:39 PM Rating: Default
Ut oh , there was a patch early today. Mebbe this is it. Today is the day.

To compensate for the nerf ,and adding charges, it will now also have a skill mod +3% linkdead.
That means you have more, new and improved ways to die, going LD alot more frequently :)

Oh, ...what's that? Oh, that was jus the new direct x9 ? Not a skill mod?

Its a good thing it's only Ebert now, and Siskel is dead. So they only get one thumbs down.

I haven't been able to play much lately but I did manage to get this for my 56 Wiz. As of now my 39 Druid needs 4 peices to complete it. The servers went down this morning for six hours (down at the moment) and I am worried they are getting rid of the Scavenger Hunt today. Does anyone have and factual information? What about fabled items? I'd like to know when this is all going to end so I can try and plan my time accordingly.

Likewise with my gnome enchanter in Kelethin under woodelf illusion. Got the call from the woodelf festival co-ordinator. Wasn't going to do the quest again since I had done it earlier twice. Curious, I suppose you still get the prize as usual if you complete it and hand in under illusion...

Dont think race matters, my mage Erudite and my Dwarf cleric did the quests, in both cases I stopped at freeport after porting in to west commonlands for the wisp, on the way to oot for the shark tooth and hailed the guy there and he gave me the quest info/bag/book. When I had all ten items I combined and handed to him for the staff. I did not recieve the 'tell' from the npc but he was willing to do the turn ins and give the reward.

I agree gargoyles and shark tooth hardest. Mostly cause the gargoyles seem to rarely drop the collectors version, and the sharks are not great in number and hard to find with no tracker.

as to lower guk- walked in killed 5 undead frogloks, all 5 dropped the collectors tongue.
RE: Lower Guk
# Mar 24 2004 at 7:48 PM Rating: Default
Actually, gargoyles are very easy. Just don't do the ones near zone in. Just go down to Enynti, there are 2 garoyles beside her. When I did mine, I killed both, and each had a whopping 8 collector granites as loot... guess 15 rotted. Might have been a bug or a gift from SoE knowing very few people would remember those gargoyles.

Conversely, I got none off both of Entyi's gargoyles. :) I'd agree that the ones at the zone seem less likely to drop the granite though, I eventually went into the castle itself, the ones in there dropped one each.

Strange thing happened to me as well. I was killing the sharks in OOT, and the collector's tooth dropped. I opened loot window, and right-clicked the tooth. The no-drop confirmation box came up, and I clicked 'yes'. Then without paying attention I gated out. The tooth was not in my bag when I checked a bit later. I went back and repeated, and sure enough, same thing happened. I could only loot by left clicking the tooth, and clicking 'yes' and putting it in my bag manually.

Must be a bug, in any case, be sure you have the item before leaving the scene, will save some backtracking time. Maybe this is the same problem your friend is having.

Don't know about the first one, but the reason for the problem with the sharks:

When you right-clicked, the shark was even with you, but by the time you said 'yes', the shark had sunk and so the looting failed. When hunting stuff in water, follow the corpse to the bottom, then loot it once it is still. THEN make sure you have it in your inventory, don't just assume it got there

From a quick survey of about 50 folks from different eras, it looks like DekonReign's reference from the Safehouse was correct.

March 16, 2003 - Present = Miragul Rocket - very young adventurer
March 16, 2002 - March 15, 2003 = Solusek Sparkler - Young adventurer
March 16, 2001 - March 15, 2002 = Tormax Candle - Experienced adventurer
March 16, 2000 - March 15, 2001 = Trakanon Tail - traveled adventurer
March 16, 1999 - March 15, 2000 = Nagafen Fire - veteren adventurer

A few tips that might make this quicker for you, especially those without tracking skills, etc.

All of the items from dungeons seem to have a much higher drop rate on the mobs that are deeper into the dungeon. I've talked to folks who stand near the entrance for hours to get a drop, while those who go to the deepest parts of the dungeon often report getting drops on almost every kill.

Killing the named Kerrans, who are often located inside the buildings, seems to be the quickest way to a drop.

Since there are so few of them, if the spectres inside the hidden tunnel are camped, camp the spectre that spawns outside the tunnel.

In Dagnor's, if you run around the edge of the lake, you'll often see roaming goblins, entering or exiting the water.

For those who are having a hard time finding a shark in OOT, if you go to the far west portion of the zone, you'll find a dock with Zachariah Reigh standing at the edge of it on the island there. Just below this dock is a static shark spawn. If it's not there then someone just killed it, so wait a few minutes, and it will be back to give up that tooth you need.

In Mistmoore, head straight for the Gargoyles. I saw plenty of folks camping other areas, killing the various mobs, but never heard of a drop. I went straight to the Gargoyles, and was attacked by two. Both of them dropped the item needed. I then attacked the next two. Both also dropped it.

If you don't have maps, you'll want to download them. They make getting to and from the deeper portions of the dungeon much easier. You can go to Mapfiend to get them. I highly recommend you just click on the link to download all maps, and follow the instructions. You'll wonder how you ever got along without them.

By the way, the end result is indeed just a toy, but the quest itself, especially for the old-timers, will likely bring back fond memories of places they haven't seen in a long time, if ever.

Spend a half an hour one nite late trying to get the lightstone,m and lept gettting the trivial message. killed aobut 20 wisps, and got the msessage about half the time. Do I have to be in raid mode? Is this another great quest that requires you to be in a group? If so, what is on Sony's (perhaps lack of) minds? A simple little quest requiring raiding, like this staff is a dragon?
RE: trivial?

Ran to WC, killed 2 Wisps and got the drop. 5 mins max. Longest wait was in LGuk, prob 15 mins on that one. About 2 hours running around, helping some others camping some of the spots. From being on Stromm server(<1 year), but playing on this account for my 3rd year, I can say that getting Miragul's Rocket means it is character's age, not the account.

Trivial loot code only applies to Firiona Vie server and it really sucks for them that these items were not made exempt to TLC, a big oversight on Sony's part...

On a side note, I wasn't aware that just being in raid eliminates TLC effects... that's sorta cheap, cuz then TLC is meaningless, anyone can just go into a raid and start farming greenies same as on every other server /sigh oh well
RE: trivial?
# Mar 20 2004 at 10:10 AM Rating: Decent
The trival loot code is in effect for these drops. I went into raid mode with someone's alt to negate the tlc, as I've stated further down this thread.
Nonetheless, this was a fun quest, went back to some zones I've not seen in a while. I enjoyed wiping out half the goblins in Sol A before I finally got the drop there.
Nice toy as reward.
