He popped today for me, first spawn after server reset. Also popped twice for someone else right after a reset the day before. I camped him for about 18 hours in between those times and no AC.
So, basically I've noticed in that past few days he spawns fairly quickly after the server comes back up. Could be coincidence... maybe not. But if I go after him again, I'll be planting myself in OOT and logging on as soon as servers are up.

It is advised to get the Quest items prior to looking for Hasten in Rathe as he will despawn after a certain amount of time and getting him to spawn in the first place can take hours with bad luck.`
The Shadowed Rapier is a TEMPORARY item that drops from "a shadowed man," found in several zones. Since it's TEMPORARY, it's best to get this last. The Ring of the Ancients drops from "an ancient cyclops," found in Ocean of Tears and Southern Desert of Ro. In the Ocean of Tears, the AC spawns on the seafury cyclops island and can spawn in place of any of the seafuries. The Southern Desert of Ro AC has a much more intriciate spawn mechanic that can be found on his bestiary page. You will also need the equivalent of 3250 Gold for the turnin. (325 Platinum works). Hasten Bootstrutter is a semi-rare spawn in Rathe Mountains. He, or any of the mobs on his spawn cycle will spawn in the Northeast section of the map in the area where Hill Giants are found approximately every 6 minutes(provided they are kept down). Once any of these NPCs or Hasten spawns they will begin roaming throughout the zone where after running their route they will despawn and a new mob will spawn. If you set up camp at the little valley leading into the Hill Giant area every placeholder or Hasten will roam right past you provided they aren't killed by another player. NPCs that are PHs for Hasten listed in order of how often they pop: Spawns are at exactly 4m 45sec cycles. a drake a grizzly bear Brother Zephyl Maldyn the Unkempt You say, 'Hail, Hasten Bootstrutter' Hasten Bootstrutter says 'Stopped, I have. Venting a little. Past 12 days, spending about 3 or 4 hrs sitting in front of tower killing PH in the PM hrs. Every day, during the day, while I'm sitting there, someone will run up to the tower and kill the PH. Killing all undead but the shriveled to help with the AC pop carries me far enough away from the tower that a druid always gets the AC first. Doing an ooc or shout "Camping AC" gets laughs from the entire zone. The times he has popped in front of me, and I attack... a wizard downs him. After a few hrs of this, I'll give up on AC, see the terrorantula or a SG... but by the time I can run up and kill it someone on a horse gets it first. Wasted almost 2 weeks of my life killing green non-shriveled undead for chump loot. Some of the people who have killed the AC right in front of me have killed him more than a few times... I've never killed him once. So frustrating. Of course can't duel them, they're always in the 50plus range. They don't even get xp off the AC, I can! Seen some not help with killing PH, just sit there invis till he pops then they nuke. OH, and THEN went through OOT on my way to give a friend some money in BB... saw a wiz there shouting he had just killed another AC... he was one of the wizards I saw in Sro that had killed at least 4 there... ARGGG!!! Sorry, had to vent... feel a LITTLE better now.
it's futile to try and outdamage others unless you have a few 50+ wiz/mage friends to help.

Ok ive read all the posts but i have one question where is the AC at in SRO i spent 6 lvls there huntin crocs before i moved to OT now im 35 warr and tired of sow potions can anyone direct me to where im suppose to go to camp at ?
You hunted the crock in Oaisis of Marr you have to go south follow the water then go west to an opening in the wall there you will zone into South Ro. The AC spawns in the sand part of the zone.

The person with the rapier and ring, turn it in first. The other person then turn in the coins. Don't let anyone kill hasten in the middle of the transaction. Have a friend along to keep hailing hasten, as that will keep him in one place. particularly useful if mqing for a different char on the same account, where you have to camp and log the other.

I had been camping the AC for almost a week straight and had no luck in gewtting him. A friend was there with me and he was able to get the Ring of the Ancients. I was able to help him in his quest and it felt good but I still was not able to get him for myself. Then Friday evening about 9pm PST I got on line for just a hsort time (I thought...hehe) and when I had Poped in the game I was being hammered by the AC himself. After a Root spell and a few Nukes I was able to take him down with little trouble. I am sorry for all the others in the zone that said I had taken him without claiming him but he did start hammering on me and I just returned the favor.
I then went to Innothule Swamp to loc +1654 +1745 and found a Shadow Knight and took him down for the Rapier. The 3250gp was in the bank and I was headed to the Rath Mountian zone.
Just after I had zoned in there was Hasten Bootstrutter waiting for me. I already had a pair but my buds did not and I had meat hin there. I gave my bud the 3250pg and procceded to finish the MQ for him. This was the longest time I had waited to do any MQ and I felt good to help friend out in the game.
Be Good and Be Safe, but remember this is a game and ahving fun is the key to it. Help those that need it and the rewards will come back to you 10 times over.

I have seen Hasten 5 times in the same spot, right near Feerott, before you get in the tighter spots, right in the open area, no joke, he is there all the time, I have no idea why so many peps think its hard to find him lol!

I see it's posted that you can hand each item one at a time. Does anyone know if it matters if you hand then one at a time or if you hand them in all at once? I'd really hate to hand in my Ring of the Ancients only to loose it due to a simple error :( Also does it have to be 3250 gp's or can it be 325 pp's?

Me and a friend where killing specs in oasis with a higher lvl bard. When He left we decided to go to sro. Ran around sro killing everything and then someone started shouting AC!!!! AC!!!! So we both ran around looking for him and decided this guy was a liar and found a sg to kill. After the sg dropped low and behold AC. Rolled a 961 out of 1000 So now I just gotta decide if I want the boots or 5k............. Also after that day we been going back to the camp looking for ac so he can get his jboots.

WOW, just yesterday after comming home from shopping with my mom i decided i should relax with some EQ. My character was camped in South Ro and so when i logged on i turn to my left only to see the Ancient Clops standing there all alone just waiting to be aggroed! So i got all shakey and ran over to him and started beating away, i was afraid he was gonna kill me or be too tough for me like SGs can be sometimes, but he wasy an easy **** and i took him down with EASE! Got 33pp and the RING OF THE ANCIENTS! There were tons of other high lvls in the zone who were all congratulating me and some even said stuff like "Ahhhh man, i didnt even see him up and i was looking for him" and "ACK i JUST zoned in to camp him, i was a second too late lol". A lvl 59 Necro summoned his kewl Spectre pet and mowed down some Shadowed Men in WC for me and got my the Rapier, forgot his name but thanks agian bro. Then someone traded me 3250 Gold for 350pp i had on me, and i was set, just had to go to RM and find Hasten. Well i waited a few hours for him to pop since Bro Zephlyn was up for a while *sigh*, but at around 12:45am CST i found him runnin around in circles and got my Jboots, woot! I had a great time and i love these new boots like mad, thanks again to the Necro and the guy who gave me the Gold, i think the Gold guys name was Kilish.
Btw just tonight i went back to SRO with a guildie who wanted Jboots and we killed the AC again and he got his Ring and got 3250 Gold from the bank, tomorrow we will try to finish the quest for him, good luck Aranaukin. =)

you dont have to wear them to use the effect, just keep them in your inventory like I do
started camping the ac in oot at 4 PM CST he spawned at 6 AM CST..got my friend her ring and I left to sell the VT and gems..I picked up 1.3k and almost 1 orange bubble of exp at level 51 putting 50% into AA.. don't expect to spend less time there

a good way to keep your no rent item is to duel someone in RM and loose and the item stays on the corpse, then you just sit there trying teo sell it, aslong as you can get it wihtin the week you are fine, just as soon as Hasten spawns, pick up the rapier and hand it in

Killed AC last night but was KS'ed the first time he popped in south ro. I told myself oh well, and continued to kill all the mobs that walked by me. Low and behold the AC popped 45min later and got my ring. I found if you clear tower during the pm hours and keep it cleared the AC pops. By the way made 400pp killin sg's
yep, I know the feeling there. Myself and 2 other guildies were clearing the desert section (including the ancient ruins) and took down about 8 SGs and Husam once. After 4ish hours the AC spawned and a 57 wiz KSed.
Another 2-3 hours and not another spawn. After that I gave up for the day.

Hello my guild Sacred Legion of Tunare got a few together and were camping the AC in OOT and we got in the camp at 2:30pm Est time, i had my ring by 5:40est time, i got very lucky,we continued to kill him and by midnight he hadn't poped again yet..very very worth it, the camp is long and boring but its a prep for later lvl camps, so just think of it as training in patience :) goodluck!

I read 4 pages of these worthless posts about people telling the world they finally got their JBoots, etc. Here is some *real* infomation about the Quest that I wish I had found in this forum before I did the MQ.
If you are doing this as part of a multi-quest, the person who hands in the rapier is the one who gets the boots.

Alas, your information is incorrect. I've MQ'd the J Boots twice and it is not dependant on who gives the Rapier. It depends on who gives the last item. When I MQ, I always turn in the Ring, and the Rapier, then let the other fellow turn in the gold...last. And every time, the guy who turns in the last item (the gold in my case) got the boots.

When multiquesting JBoots, just like any other MQ, the person that turns in the last component gets the reward. I have not personally tried to turn in the rapier first and then the ring last when I have MQ'd it but I see no reason this quest would be different than any other.

Hi, Im a lvl 38 Iksar monk =) I got the Ring off aC in SRO wit some help with guildies (you gotta kill SG's and other stuff to make him spawn. Then, after i got the ring, i got port to lavastorm mntns and the first shadowed men i saw, i killed and got the raper (note:rapier is no rent, do not camp!). then Last, my bro gave me 3250gp and then i got a port by a nice druid and then after about 20 minutes of waiting and stuff,Hasten (a little gnome dude in Rathe Mntns) was on the druid's track so we tracked Hasten and i turned in stuff and ta da, Journeyman's Boots!! If you need any information, send tell on Kudak =)

umm...about running along side the mountain..it depends..if ur swimming skill sux then ya run the mountain side, but it was quicker for me to swim vs running the mtn side of lake rathe

Level32 Magician, spent ages camping him in S Ro, he spawned, I just ran up fearing KSers, didn't consider not attacking it untill I was fighting it, at which point I realised I had engaged a very High level monster without even buffing myself as much as I could, anyway, to my surprise I won the fight and got the ring, I couldn't believe it, Im not even a twink char.
