Okie dokie yesterday in the wee hours of the morning i was just about to camp in Sro after a 7 hour camp of the AC...i do a /who and me and a lvl 8 necro are the only people in zone so i say what the hell i stay another 5 mins....im runnin around killin everything i can an helpin PL the necro just to be a nice guy....while turnin from the DE camps i see a big figure and say wtf its prolly a SG...i click on him and its the cyc! woot so anyway i kill him within 2 mins loot him up and get my ring....Anyway in the exited nature i go to WC get the shadowraiper in like 5 mins get my gold outa bank and run my lil Sk *** off to rathe...i zone in and make a shout to see if anyone in zone is lookin for the albino yoda and just my luck no one is...so i walk around in there a lil and woohoo i see the lil ****...i go up to him turn invis off and /hail him...all the sudden he's tryin to beat me up....made me very angry i so run close to zone and FD...thank Innoruuk there is a druid in zone and casts woflie on me i go back to him and turn all my crap in to finaly get mt Jboots! after i get the boots i med a bit summon up a lil pet find the lil **** again and kick his ***....hehe i was very proud of myself for gettin the boots and than killin him...lol thanks and if any evil races or classes are doin quest be warned he will prolly attack you so u need a wolf form from druid/ranger....enjoy them...they worth it

It is advised to get the Quest items prior to looking for Hasten in Rathe as he will despawn after a certain amount of time and getting him to spawn in the first place can take hours with bad luck.`
The Shadowed Rapier is a TEMPORARY item that drops from "a shadowed man," found in several zones. Since it's TEMPORARY, it's best to get this last. The Ring of the Ancients drops from "an ancient cyclops," found in Ocean of Tears and Southern Desert of Ro. In the Ocean of Tears, the AC spawns on the seafury cyclops island and can spawn in place of any of the seafuries. The Southern Desert of Ro AC has a much more intriciate spawn mechanic that can be found on his bestiary page. You will also need the equivalent of 3250 Gold for the turnin. (325 Platinum works). Hasten Bootstrutter is a semi-rare spawn in Rathe Mountains. He, or any of the mobs on his spawn cycle will spawn in the Northeast section of the map in the area where Hill Giants are found approximately every 6 minutes(provided they are kept down). Once any of these NPCs or Hasten spawns they will begin roaming throughout the zone where after running their route they will despawn and a new mob will spawn. If you set up camp at the little valley leading into the Hill Giant area every placeholder or Hasten will roam right past you provided they aren't killed by another player. NPCs that are PHs for Hasten listed in order of how often they pop: Spawns are at exactly 4m 45sec cycles. a drake a grizzly bear Brother Zephyl Maldyn the Unkempt You say, 'Hail, Hasten Bootstrutter' Hasten Bootstrutter says 'Stopped, I have. I was soloing at burning woods on saturday morning, and I met a necro. We first met cause he was feigned at the giant fort and wanted me to pull the mobs puppy guarding him. I did and we started talking. He asked me why I didn't have jboots yet, and I told him it was because I always get KSd in sro. He told me about the OOT spawn, how it's fixed. I decided why not, I'll try.
I got there and went to the camp spot. the group there said they had been holding camp for 35 hours with no pop. They left out of exhaustion at 3pm and I took over. I was there all night until 2 am when I fell asleep at my chair. Nothing. I got up in the morning and logged back on (I had gone LD, damn MSN) and a chanter had the camp. I asked him to send me a tell when he was through. I went and charmed specs for a while until he /ooc YES! IT POPPED! I GOT MY RING and so I ran over there.
I took the camp and was holding it from 11:00 am. at 11:15pm my mom yelled down the stairs that it was time for bed (school night, bleh). By this time I had nearly lost my sanity camping this thing, and everyone in the zone knew me by my moaping. I pressed my hand against the power switch which shuts off the computer if I hold it for 6 seconds. On what must have been the 5th second, POOF! Ac pop. pet attacked, I saw the long name so I knew it was him. I took him easily as a L52 necro (dooming, fear, splurt, ebolt, pleague, loot). I was so happy!
All in all, this is what I'm trying to say: All the time camping this damn thing doesn't matter, cause when he finally pops (which he will) and drops the ring, those hours will pay off. I would say that the SRo camp is for druids and wizards. Sro is a KS zone for AC, and you shouldn't even bother going there unless you can KS someone else as quickly as they would KS you. The OOT spawn is fixed location so it's much easier, and you can claim the camp. BTW, the spawn is COMPLETELY random. A friend who took the camp after me told me the AC popped twice within the hour after I left, one ring rotted.

My warrior, level 36, just got the ring while waiting for a trade to complete. Druid was buying my blackened Alloy Medallion for 900pp. He proted to misty then proted back to s ro. I trade with him then as i am runing to Oasis to go to commons and buy stuff.... BAM Big ole cyclops right infront of me. A Ancient Cyclops, blue to me, right there. I figured i would kill myself if i didn't try it, so i jump him, and he starts beating me down (semi twinked for level). I call up the druid that i just traded too and he comes over and chain heals me, snares and DoT's AC. He falls and i see, you gain expiernce!!! YES. 15 minutes or less and i got my ring, now to kill the Shadowed dudes. Can i kill em at 36 solo, and can i pull em solo? How aobut with me and a 35 necro? In Commons? Thanks!!

In OOT, I lost the role for the ring to a guild mate, was happy for him, was hoping he would choke on it, but was happy. Then 2 spawns later he came up a again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not believe it nor could the rest of the zone. HEHE we got real lucky

I know multiquesting is possible with other quests, like the bone chip quest in Cabalis. The guard asks for 4 chips and I give him one then click trade, and do this 4 times and he give s exp after the 4th. I also gave him 1 chip, logged out, logged another in and the had the 2nd give him 3 chips and got exp.
So multiquesting still works in the game, but they could have made the jboots so it can't be done this way.
Has anyone multiquested jboots recently?

Man what are people thinking posting things like they do... NO ONE would trade a fbss and a iksar bp to multi quest these boots. WHY? because you can buy travlers boots for less than what a iksar bp or a fbss sells to people. and another said that a AC poped than the tararanchula (i think that is how you spell it) poped, then another AC poped well yes it is incredible, but what he said before was amazing i have a question for you how do you sell FBSSs when they ARE LORE!!?

Don't you just hate those 'I got my jboots in less than 3 hours' stories? Ugh! That is, untill it happens to you :)
Last night I was on the boat going to bb and noticed that there were no high levels on /who. Holy Crud! no one is camping AC? Great :)
So I jump off boat as it passes, camp the spawn for 2 1/2 hours and AC pops! I couldn't believe it, I just stared at my screen for 3 seconds, then quickly sent pet, cast bond of death on ac and pact shadow on pet and hunkered down for what I thought would be a long fight.
(I saw a 50 player in wolf form and a 50ish partner try to take the ac once and it took them a long time, they were fighting him all over the front of the island so i thought the ac was pretty tough.)
I look down to see his hp bar and it hasn't moved at all! I thought, oh crud this is not good, then the hp bar moves down to @ 80%, stupid mob hp update lag scared me ) So I use normal spell routine for his cyclops place holders and he is dead before bod wears off )
total time for ac is just under 2 1/2 hours.
now off to get the shadowed rapier. I try the shadow man camp by the hand in innothule swamp since it's close to rathe mountain zone. I clear the 4 shadow men and 1 pet then get the rapier on the first one to repop. This is nuts! What's going on? I don't complain to much, grap the rapier and slowly walk off to rathe :)
total time buffing, medding then fighting less than 10 minutes
Finally in rath, so of course give an ooc to see if anyone has hasten on track, no one does. get pet, buff, med then call out again. Yes! He is here, somewhere. I position myself at the crossroads after coming from feerott and keep looking south and west. A very nice druid takes the road south and hails him just before he gets to the crossroads and gives me a tell. Yay:)
I hail him and he doesn't give a go away message. I con him he is indiff, great:) I give the rapier, then ring, then gold to him and hit trade. Woohoo, Jboots! :)
total time finding Hasten less than 15 minutes.
total total time completing quest (not counting travel time since some can tp or have sow or friends to help out or can use gate): 2 hours 55 minutes
So the main points:
1) it CAN happen quickly, it all depends on luck and eq's random number generator
2) you can put all items in at once then click trade
3) Iksar Necros can do it with no problems, I never messed with beta neutral faction good or bad
4) Hasten will go through the crossroads by the Feerott zone
5) 3250 gp slows you down but not too badly, I had 121/86 in weight and wasn't frustratingly slow. Now that we know he comes from the south just get in the middle of the crossroads so you can see him coming and move in his path to hil.
Well, I hope this helps a bit,

Well, I tried camping this guy several times in Sro. Had him KS'ed from me one time, and seen him several other times. But by the time I would run down there, someone would drop his weak a$$. Got so sick of going to Sro to get the boots... so one day, I decided to get together around 7k pp, and went to sol A to buy some T-boots. But, since I am a Dark Elf, Necro... and the merchant who sells the boots is a Gnome... made my chances of getting the T-boots just as time consuming as getting the J-boots... So I said to myself "***** it, I don't want the damn boots." Ran back to East commons and just chilled there for a bit... and decided, might as well try ONE LAST TIME. Ran down to Sro at about 9:15pm, May 26th. Seen a SG up, casted pet, and went to town on him. Once it died, I ran over a hill and seen a skinny figure standing just a tad east of the DE merchants. Clicked, and "an Ancient Cyclops" highlighted. Ran over there all excited with about 40m left... thought I was going to get KS'ed or have it dead by the time I got to it, so I snared him, sent pet (who was augmented btw) and feared/VoS/lifetapped it, to about half, then a higher up wizard hit it with a spell and dropped it... but I seen those magical Yellow lettered words of "You Gain Experience!!!" looted the ring with 100% joy, went back got the gold/rapier by 12am... ran to Rathe mnts. shouted if hasten was up, didn't pay attention to people saying "Brother Z is up", which is a place holder for Hasten. So I took a nap at around 12am, woke up about 5am, and had a very friendly druid by the name of Skogskatt, help me track her, since she was multi-questing the ring herself for her friend. Hasten didn't pop until 10:00AM, May 27th... but I didn't care on this long wait, for I had the Ring!!! Got my boots, right clicked them 239872347 times with joy, and showed them off to my friends. Happy birthday to me! (may 28th is my b-day btw) And that same night, of may 27th, I went back to Sro, and in about 2 hours, he popped again, and I took him down with another friendly druids help by the name of Teodella (both druids are just VERY friendly females, would a male help you this easily? maybe not, just my opinion though) and now I currently have the J-boots and the Ring for a monk friend who needs them so much. WOOHOO!! so dont give up on your camp, might be long, but DEFINATLY worth the wait...
(PS, Don't KS from someone who is fighting it first, just not very polite unless your greedy and don't want friends...friends are everything on EQ, keep that in mind...)

I would suggest going to the Island in OOT for the ring. I camped SR forever and when I did see the ancient he was always half dead from another group. I went to the Island in OOT at a slow time on my server..only 600 on, that way I'd have a better chance of getting the spawn. The second thing to spawn was the Ancient. Now to finish the quest..good luck all

Well, got my boots. I settled into SRo for a long and boring camp of the AC. To my surprise and luck, 45 minutes in, he popped on top of me and my pet automatically attacked. After getting the ring, I had to decide where to get the rapier. I recommend the Shadowmen camp in Nek forest. Yes, gotta dodge a few DE guards to get there, but only a 3 spawn so easy to contain. To my luck again, the rapier dropped off the first kill. I was already bound a bit inside RM so I just headed to the bank in NFP and got my cash, put on some borrowed STR enhancers and gated to RM to complete the quest. At this point, I figured I had run my luck out but upon arriving in RM, Hasten Bootstrutter was bouncing back and forth right in front of me. OMG, if only all my quests went this smooth. 1 hour and 30 minutes later, I had my J-Boots and was done. Hope everyone has the luck I had.

Curious as to what level a character has to be to get the J-Boots. Can I give the ac ring and other items to a low level character? Quest area says level 35-60, but I saw a level 31 cleric with them. Thanks in advance for any info.

The Ring of the Ancients is NO DROP, unfortunately. The trick is to have a high level friend let you loot it.

Someone asked how to get Hasten to spawn.
Well, he has two placeholders. One is "Maldyn the Unkempt", a human ranger. The other is "a drake". Not "an obsidian drake", or "an ebony drake", or any other kind of drake, just "a drake".
No faction hits for killing any of them.

here's what i did to spawn AC. kill spawns right by merchants, kill all cutthroats from both derv camps. Ran over to that tower looking thing with a drybone skeleton in middle. Killed the drybone and then looked over and saw AC. Hope this helped.

I was walking through SRo (had just been in lguk, headed to tunnel to sell some FBSSs) and I hear stomping. I look over, and it's AC! My heart just about jumped out of my chest. I ran over and killed him quite easily (con green) and tarrantula thingy spawns like 2 seconds later by the merchant, kill him and ANOTHER ac spawns! Incredible! I had a friend nearby so I kept ac snared and training him around where people wouldn't see him until he got there and kill him and looted. very badass

This was a little strange because of the way it happened. I got a port to S RO to run to the oasis area (I'm a 50th Necro, btw). I was running to the zone and heard a clumping noise. I turned and it was a sand giant. Well, no one was around so I to trash it for a few plat. I did and all of a sudden I saw another sand giant a little ways off. Well, I sent my pet over there (had brought one up for the first sand giant) and killed that sand giant. Since I was close, I went to the little temple to see if the undead mob was there. It was not.
I decided then to run to oasis - as soon as I cleared the first hill past the temple - I saw Terrorantula - a little strange because the sand giants, terror, and the AC are supposed to be on the same spawn table (with terror and the AC as the rares). After a little bit, I kill Terrorantula and start running to the oasis zone. As I get to the hill right before the zone, I hear another clumping noise and turn to see if it is another sand giant. Nope, it is the AC himself chasing some poor guy towards the zone - I sic my pet on it and start lifetapping like crazy (does about 350 damage per).

When you see they AC in sro and you start attacking it and then some kser comes and tries to ks you...... TAKE A DAMN PICTURE OF THEM! can't believe you guys didn't know this. Just take a picture and e=mail to a gm. BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE TEXT.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THEY HAVE NERFED THE J BOOTS MULTIQUEST WITH THE MOST RECENT PATCH????
Two people have told me that they have and I would like to find out, as I have a Ring and someone willing to trade an Iksar BP and FBSS for the multiquest.

I totally Agree with you They must be stupid or lying because one person said that he was selling FBSSs which are LORE, and another said that someone would give him a fbss and a iksar cerimonial bp, YOU CAN BUY TRAVLERS BOOTS FOR 6k!!!

What is the absolute fastest way to make this guy spawn. Sick of trying to camp him out for hours upon hours.

To make Hasten spawn, kill the drakes in the zone...nuf said ebony drakes I believe they are, but don't quote me on it

Camped AC in S Ro last night for about 30 minutes... got my ring, No I did not kill anything other than what spawned in that little atrium looking thing... killed "Crypt Mummy" then heard stomping ahead and ran to it... by the derv camp, and bam, AC.... thank you no applause only plat... that's all you guys need to know.
I was able to get JBoots for my lvl 31 cleric using my necro on the same account! I had the necro loot the ring and had a friend loot the Rapier, while giving my 31 cleric the 3250 GLD.
Had my friend turn in the Rapier first and then I gave the ring with my necro and then logged in with my cleric to finnish the quest. It worked!!! Now my little 31 cleric has some speedy Feet!!!!!

ur talken bout giving the ring friend gives the gold and rapier u get the boots blah blah blah well if ur gonna get jboots u need to make sure no one is around hasten cause u could put the ring then they could hurry up put the gold and rapier and hit trade they get boots ur screwed happend to a friend of mine =P
