Captain Nealith has moved into the tunnel leading to the old Drolvarg fort, following the conquest of Firiona Vie by the dark races. He may be found at +650, -2660.

During the Drolvarg Teeth quest, Captain Nealith mentions his siblings...

You say, 'What about your sibling?'

Captain Nealith appears saddened by the mention of his sibling. 'My brother Marltek has been missing for quite some time. I found coarse Drolvarg hair inside his tent which leads me to believe he has become a meal for the dogs. CURSE THE EVIL DOGS!! I shall see them all dead!!'

At +1510, -1395, there are two tents with a fixed spawn of three drolvargs. Keep clearing these drolvargs until "a drolvarg scavenger" spawns.

a drolvarg scavenger begins to howl and yip. 'Grrr.. Mad..ness!! Red, sweet red.'

Kill it.

a drolvarg scavenger's corpse yips and falls to the ground. A tattered note appears to be tucked into his armor.

Loot a "blood soaked note," which reads:

Dear, brother, I fear that my soul has been overtaken by a great evil. My sanity barely hangs on by a thread. My dreams of the sweet red blood of others are soon to drive me mad. The howls in the night call to me. It is best for me to leave. I pray that I can deliver this note before I go mad. Please understand that it is better that I am never seen again. Goodbye. Keep up the fight for the forest folk.

Give the note to Captain Nealith.

Captain Nealith nearly faints after reading the letter. 'Dear Marltek!! I shall miss you. There is more evil in this land!! Madness beyond description. Thank you ______. You put my soul at ease and give me new direction. Please accept my brothers blade. He found it in the wilds. May you use it to slay many Drolvarg!!'

Your faction standing with Inhabitants of Firiona Vie got better.
Your faction standing with Emerald Warriors got better.
Your faction standing with Storm Guard got better.
Your faction standing with Pirates Of Gunthak got worse.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got worse.

You receive some experience, gold, and the Glaive of Marltek.

the common tag on this note is a joke, i finally got it to drop after 357 scavengers that isn't counting the other types of drolvarg i had to kill to get the scavengers to spawn. i was able to clear all the ruin, tent camp, and roamers in-between the two with time to wait for re-pops and the one i finally got it from was one of the roamers so i guess any scavenger can drop the note, i also did not get "a drolvarg scavenger begins to howl and yip. 'Grrr.. Mad..ness!! Red, sweet red." when i started the fight or anytime during the fight with the scavenger that dropped the note so i don't know if the only say that phrase sometimes or not, but i didn't get it at all, i did get the "a drolvarg scavenger's corpse yips and falls to the ground. A tattered note appears to be tucked into his armor." after he died though.
Got it, still works

JUST did this quest today (Thursday, May 3;2012). the note dropped of a scavenger i found wandering the wall between the tents and the turn in tunnel. only killed 4 on my ranger (got sick of tracking em down on my 35 war so i switched to my 70 ranger).

CONFIRMED does not have to be at the tents.
CONFIRMED note is NO DROP
CONFIRMED the Glaive of Marltek is NOT no drop (put into shared bank for my warrior)

can someone confirm (if people ever look at this page again) if you can get more than one? i know its lore so you can only have one on you but...
Woot atlast agin!!

Yep... I camped it for days.... I thought for sure it was removed.. then WOOT!

I was killing all the drolvarg scavengers in the zone.. but, in the end
it spawned at the tent camp with the 3 static mobs.

So, yes as of January 2, 2010 it still drops.

Sure is nice not having to chase these mobs, a Rogue with snare is sweet!

I've done this quest numerous times throughout my EQ career, and it IS always a drolvarg SCAVENGER, but it doesn't always have to be the one at the specified camp that everyone is so bored sitting at. I have acquired the very same blood soaked note from wandering drolvarg scavengers around the zone.

Having done this twice within the last month, the longest part was the waiting for the spawn. In my own experience, I would gather 8-12 canines, turn in and go back to camp. Both times, after slaying the last static spawn and unknown number of turn-ins, ran back to tents and had the correct spawn.

Captain Nealith has moved into the tunnel leading to the old Drolvarg fort after his home was taken over by Dark Elves and Cliff Golems.

His new location is +648, -2661

You say "Hail Captain Nealith"
Captain Nealith says "Hail adventurer!! Stand tall and fight for the forest folk and all good races of Norrath. We shall claim this land for the kingdom of Thex! My warriors shall not fail. Already we patrol deep in the wilds of Kunark. We welcome all mercenaries and urge adventurers to [join the defense of the outpost].

You say "I will join the defense of the outpost"
Captain Nealith says "I salute you!! Join the hunt. Reports from the front line indicate a rise in the drolvarg population. Abandon your fear and slay these beasts for the greater good. Already, they have taken far too many lives, even my sibling's!! I shall pay you your wages upon the return of four drolvarg teeth.

If you ask him about his siblings you will get the quest dialogue:

What about your sibling?

Captain Nealith appears saddened by the mention of his sibling. "My brother Marltek has been missing for quite some time. I found coarse Drolvarg hair inside his tent which leads me to believe he has become a meal for the dogs. CURSE THE EVIL DOGS!! I shall see them all dead!!"

A blood soaked note drops from a drolvarg scavenger in the Western most position of the camp where 3 Drolvargs spawn. Spawn time is about 6 minutes. Loc 1514,-1390.

You will know if you get the right one if, as it attacks, you get the message:
a drolvarg scavenger begins to howl and yip. 'Grrr.. Mad..ness!! Red, sweet red.'

And when it dies, you will see this message:
a drolvarg scavenger's corpse yips and falls to the ground. A tattered note appears to be tucked into his armor.

Completed with a 45 Rogue today. Took a long time to get the spawn (I was running between here and the giant camp for several hours). Several times I would show up to see one of the scouts nerfing a scavanger in the camp. I wonder if they wander by and kill him if no player does within a certain time...

Regardless, I have my sword now :)
Still at camp....

I took my druid into the camp with the 3 Drolvargs and just kept killing them. About 8 spawns and I had the note and sword. Easy for a high level druid. I took my 38(4 yellow bubs into 38) Rogue into camp with a fungi and made 39.2 and 10 spawns of camp and no note or sword. Not as easy with lower level solo even with fungi. Fun though. :=)

Had it spawn at the southeast corner of the entry way of the ruins just south of the main ruins at -291, -1287. It would seem that the scavenger that drops the note may be able to spawn anywhere. Not sure if it is limited to static spawns or wanderers.

The note that drops is called a Blood Soaked Note. I also have a SS of it but no place to upload it to. I camped the spot for about 5 hours the first day and it dropped on the 5th clearing of the camp on my second day.

Took me roughly three weeks to get the note to drop. Collected a LOT of teeth in that time, and am now max ally with the captain. this weapon is a MUST for anyone that solo's and can weild it. As a warrior, I have this and the canyoneer pike. I have been hunting the crusties in Natimbi, and have gotten a full 3 AA's and went from 60 to 60 1/2 solo. Not easy to do, but it is doable. The note is ubber rare, you just need to keep killing all the spawns at the camp.
Quest still works
# Jun 01 2004 at 8:43 AM Rating: Good
Did this quest 1st of June 2004.

As a previous poster mentioned, there is no need to hunt down the various named, leaches or anything else. I sat in the middle of the two tent camp near the giant head with my pet killing the spawns as they appeared and attacked me.

Every few minutes I checked the computer and looted. After roughly five hours I found a scavenger dead with the note.

My mage had not previously hunted DL much and was apprehensive to the captain. Handing in the canines collected during the camp got me to indifferent con (started apprehensive) and handing in the note worked fine so indifferent is all you need.

P.S. Since the patch wherby required levels for procs is shown, this item shows level 15.

Hello everyone!

I headed back to fiona vie finaly go some time.

BE WARNED YOU MAY NEED ALLY FACTION TO DO THIS QUEST.

1. start you quest for this weapon by hail capt nealith and ask "who is your brother" I had allied faction when i did this quest.

2. head to the north east corner of the zone by exit to swamp of no hope same one near the 3 giant spwns. clear all the frenzied leech spwns in the vacinity they seem to share same spwn table as the damage drolvage i spoke of in my previous post and to the rare named mobs that can pop.

3. The damage drolvag i mentioned as place holder for the rare named mobs pops at 2910, neg 1859. if the named are up or frenzied leeches are up keep kiling till the damaged drolvags appears.

4. when the damage drolvag is up you will notic some strange behavior from some of the wandering drolvags in the same general area as 3 spwn camp were the drolvag drops note will spwn. The strange behavior isthat some drolvagswillbe running aroun at top speed but are not chasing anyone.

5. commence to clear the 3 spwn camp info onthis camp is posted on the quest information above.

6. I was able to get a glaive in about 3hrs following this methode.

BE WARNED YOU MAY NEED ALLY FACTION TO DO THIS QUEST.

You don't need ally, I did it with warmly.

Oh, and I didn't do any of that clearing or any of that stuff. I just parked my enchanter with a DC pet in the camp, and just had them attack me. Eventually a scavenger popped that had the note, took about 5 hours. The 2 hours listed on the description is a wee bit optimistic.

It good to know i dont have to run all over the zone clearing all the different mobs though.

Spent about 2 hours with a warrior and another 5 with a chanter at the tents killing them and anything else in the area. Saw the damaged dorvalg, killed him (are we supposed to leave him alone?) as well as a couple of the named spawns in the area. Never saw a note drop. Frustrating as hell.

OK, So I need to run around that whole northern corner of the zone then and kill everything in sight? I am trying to do this with a 51 warrior, and the skelly kicks her butt pretty badly. Does the Scavenger with the note spawn in the camp, or is it this one that spawns at 20 percent health? Do you need to have a certain amount of faction with the captain maybe to get this quest mob to spawn? Just made it to indifferent, after the last set of teeth I turned in. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I have been at this camp for six solid hours. I have not seen a single note in that time. I have collected over 200 teeth, as I filled a ten slot bag and then just started letting them rot. Is this even the correct camp? I am at the one with the giant iksar head next to the tents.
