Kyralynn can be found in the Barbarian Fishing Village.

You say, ‘Hail Kyralynn’

Kyralynn says, ‘Hello, ! I am the shaman Kyralynn. If you have banded armor, my husband Vrynn and I can form it into a new shaman armor using this totem and some reagents for the ritual. I can use a banded [bracer], [mail], [helm] or [cloak] to form this new armor.’

You say, ‘helm’

Kyralynn says, ‘The helm requires a banded helm, 1 ground dufrenite, a glacier bear pelt, and an ogreskin chamois from a lizard page.’

  1. Banded Helm
  2. Ground Dufrenite
  3. Glacier Bear Pelt (from glacier bear in Everfrost cave) and
  4. Ogreskin Chamois (from lizard page in Cazic)

Dufrenite is occasionally, although rarely, dropped by carrion ghouls in Unrest and Clockworks in Solusek's eye and also can be purchased in the magic shops in various cities including Halas, W Karanas, Rivervale, Grobb and Ogguk for 150 to 200 pp each depending upon your faction and charisma. The ogre shamen in the camp on the other side of the lake will crush/grind/powder it for you. Banded armor is made with the blacksmithing skill.

the Iksar can't use totemic armor they have their own armor, so large may work for Iskar quest but not for Oldworld Races
duh!

dude, it says it on the instructions above, 1 ogre grinds it 1 ogre crushes it 1 ogre powders it, yes there is a difference!

First and foremost, IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRUSHED/GROUND/ETC DUFRENITE?

Ok, I feel compelled to add to the posts here. Just completed the quest for this thing and, after a week of hunting, camping, and getting mobbed in Cazic, I finally get all the items. Gather up all my goodies and cruise to Lake Rathe. Take my dufrenit to the ogre shammy, he crushes it. I go over to the chick who is supposed to make my helm.

Now, I'm anxious as an 18 yr old on prom night, 'cause this stuff is HARD to get. Don't want to nerf myself. I ask her about the quest, she gives it to me and I turn in the items. Nada. Not even a message saying she didn't trust me, blah blah blah.

I appealed this to the head GM of Quellious. He intimated that the problem was with the dufrenite. Now, my question is, to those of you who have completed this quest, IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRUSHED/GROUND/ETC DUFRENITE? If so, where do I go to get the right stuff? Many thankees for the help.

Yes there is a difference. You need to visit the ogre camp in the opposite corner of Lake Rathe to get them ground (or crushed or whatever). Hail the ogres (they are indifferent), they will tell you what they do. Hand them 1 Dufrenite and they will return it ground (or whatever). Swim back to the barb camp to turn in the items. Sorry to hear that you lost the items for this quest, since the helm is one that will last you a very long time.

As a dwarven smith its been my pleasure to help at least one other shaman making this quest. Of course by making a banded helm. Thing is, I made a large banded helm, for an iksar friend, and that worked out alright as well. So i Guess its not neccesary to use a medium sized one.

I have got my *** whipped bad trying to locate the Lizard Page. I put on Invisable to locate him but insure where to locate him.

Soloed him easily at 33, using DOTS and ROTS, and jumping in an meleeing, as I did NOT want to hang down there.

ROOT HIM, DOT him, LOOT Him, get the hell out of there. Several weeks ago, I was down there to kill the placeholders and the Lich nailed me with Cancel Magic, Fear, and just about every other spell in existance.

Dying was the easy part. THEN the Sorry SOB camped my body. The Lich stood over my body for 20 minutes to a half hour before it finally moved on. While I looted, it wandered back, and luckily I had moved my body further into the room I was in.

To get the bear:
All I did was go to first intersection, sense animals, turn, move to next, SA again, turn, kill.

REMINDER that is not mentioned here. The bear is 100% cold resistant so save your icy nukes, it won't do any good. It did not resist a single one of my level 33 dots. I used poison storm a lot more than I normally would, as I did not want to hang around for MR. LICH.

I got out, half health, 2 bubs mana, but then I meleed as much as possible to quicken the kill.

I did a 40 hour camp. After giving up with no bear I was killing mammoths for tusks and for a little exp. A nice 50+ level rogue was down there and saw the bear spawn. He let me know and I ran down there. The bear was blue to me at lvl 31. I could have soloed him, but I went down with no mana and 3/4 health. The rogue helped me kill the silly bear. I got my pelt. :) (side note) after I killed that bear his buddy spawned from the other PH. He didn't like that his fellow bear was dead. He attacked me and with one bub of health left I gated out of there. Shouted that another bear was up and another shaman got their pelt. We were both very happy shaman.

My suggestion. Don't bother wasting your time on a constant camp. Just pop down there occassionally. Good luck to all other fellow shaman.

Dear Whoever on Caz-Thule server

I quested this myself, and I would sooner wear a tattered leather cap then pay YOU 2 k for a pelt. You cant even use the item, but kill the mob. People like you, farming quest items and jack up prices make me sick. No wonder so many have given up the quest in favor of buying a different item.

I would like to find monk quest items and DESTROY them, but I am not that petty. Just know, most of us shammies will go without before lining your greedy pockets!

Is it just me or did none of these comment say what lvl shaman you have to be to be able to solo the bear. I know you should at least have the pet, but is it the companian, vigilant, or guardian spirit please just say what lvl.

I did it at 35, with a green pet. It was way easy. I rooted/dot'd and then meleed with pet. I would say 34, maybe even 33 could do it solo.

I just got the pelt for the Totemic Helm, and I really have to say it wasn't that hard. I don't have sense animal, or track, or even magic at all...I'm a monk. I do, however, have good speakers. I killed the Icebone's I had heard were PH, and then turned my speakers all the way up and went to sleep. The glacier bear is the size of a small building, if you have speakers you will hear it coming...woke me from a dead sleep. Try it out...it's certainly a more relaxing camp.

hehe 31 barb shammy on Druzzil here. Just thinking of starting my Tot quests if I can (Already have both drops from Unrest). This one does not look fun at all ;) but as for people not thinking this is a good shaman helm, I've seen 40 odd or higher shamans still wearinging it. To be honest I haven't found anything better for the helm yet.

After a horrendous 3 day campfest, I now have the helm AND 2 additional pelts! Using a ranger is very handy, especially when you already have one pelt but have not completed the quest.

wooohooo i was farming perma and popped out to have some fresh air and guess who was on track! Bang one pelt now for the chamois. Shame druids can use the helm....
eight days? yeah right!
# May 17 2001 at 6:24 PM Rating: Default
They should change the above listed time to complete of eight hours to eight days. I have given up on it. I went and bought a jaundiced bone helm instead. Easier to gain exp and loot and save up a few k and just buy JB rather than waste time on this ridiculous quest. Nice item but not worth the time when you consider what else is out there.
