Kings Court Casino is in Shadowhaven on the way to Paludal Caverns (from Nexus). It's the first door just before you go up the stairs on your way from Nexus zone in. open door, turn right, turn left quick, go down stairs for the class-specific token/game NPC and handy banker. Gold Ticket NPC Jacob Thornblade is on the main floor your entered by.

Patch Intro: Shandeling's Roost in Shadowhaven now houses a game of chance. To play you will need to buy a King's Court Token. You then take this token and turn it in to any of the dealers. Based on what your hand turns out to be, you will be awarded a prize. The highest hands will return a gold ticket as the prize. This Ticket can be turned in to win prizes such as a Guise of the Deceiver (not if you are a dark elf), Fungus Covered Great Staff, or Holgresh Elder Beads. Good luck to all that play!

You say, 'Hail, Jacob Thornblade'

Jacob Thornblade says 'Welcome! Welcome to Shandeling's, the gaming hall of chance! The game room is downstairs. If you are lucky enough to get a Gold Ticket, be sure to bring it to me for a spin on the big wheel of prizes! Make sure to tip your waitress well!'

You can buy King's Court Tokens from two Brewing merchants nearby : Nayda Winterwind and Keiya Oakwood.

Note: In order to make sure you can use the item, only give your token to the dealer corresponding to your class. If in doubt, hail the NPC first. Their responses:

Therin Asakith says 'Welcome to Shandeling's Casino! If you would like to try your luck at a game of chance, I can offer you a game of King's Court with prizes best suited for any warrior, monk, or rogue. To play, buy a token from any of the waitresses and hand it to me when ready.'

Gralin Silvertooth says 'Thank you for coming to Shandeling's Casino! If you would like to try your luck at a game of chance, I can offer you a game of King's Court with prizes best suited for any shadow knight, ranger, beastlord, bard, or paladin. To play, buy a token from any of the waitresses and hand it to me when ready.'

Vuri Pandar says 'Welcome to Shandeling's Casino! If you would like to try your luck at a game of chance, I can offer you a game of King's Court with prizes best suited for any druid, shaman, or cleric. To play, buy a token from any of the waitresses and hand it to me when ready.'

Tirac Goldbender says 'Welcome to Shandeling's Casino! If you would like to try your luck at a game of chance, I can offer you a game of King's Court with prizes best suited for any wizard, necromancer, magician, or enchanter. To play, buy a token from any of the waitresses and hand it to me when ready.'

Turn in your token, and in return you can receive a variety of things based upon which item you don't have already:

Nothing (common)
Stat Food (common; the better the stats, the higher the rarity)
More Tokens (range from 2 to 25+ - uncommon)
Fireworks (uncommon)
Gems (rare)
Potions (illusions, various effects - very rare)
Minor Stat Items (very rare)
Gold Ticket (ultra rare)

Should you be lucky enough to snag a Gold Ticket, turn it into Jacob Thornblade upstairs for what is typically a very nice reward.

Upon turning in a gold ticket, a shout is heard across the zone:

Jacob Thornblade shouts 'Ladies and Gentlemen gather around, as our brave _____ is turning in his Golden Ticket for a chance at the big time! With a spin of the wheel let us determine the prize. Ladies and gentlemen, the [race] wins a [prize]. Everyone please congratulate _____ on this excellent luck!'

Note: says "his" even when a female character does the turn in.

If you already have all the items you will see him say this when you try to hand in a gold ticket.

Jacob Thornblade says 'I am sorry, but at the moment our great wheel of prizes is not spinning! Could you try again in a few moments while I try to fix the jam? Thanks!'

330k spent, 2 Deluxe Sewing Kits, Beer Goggles, and a TON of useless junk. Sad thing is I am gonna keep trying for a guise.

Crushed Coral can result as a minor reward. I thought that was a little weird... but oh well.

Congrats on the guise, you must've won MY golden ticket!:>

Anyway, myself:
- $48K spent, got Beer Goggles, Illusionists Stone, Pristine Emerald, every essense potion, Vial of Swirling Smoke, Vial of Ethereal Mist, 8 or 9 various crushed gems, 4 King's Court Bread, 40 or so Sweet Bread, uncountable wheat bread (which I destroyed as I got), and quite a few gnomish firecrackers.

The most tokens I won back at a single go was 30, and twice I got "You can't have more than one of that lore item" message. It once took me 1 1/2 hours to play off 40 tokens due to continuously getting more tokens back, and also once played off 80 tokens in less than 15 minutes because I wasn't getting squat.

Definitely not $50K worth of stuff, but fun nonetheless and alot better than getting nothing.

RE: quick question
# Dec 07 2004 at 1:08 AM Rating: Decent
I am hoping after 1 1/2 months you have an answer- but in case not, and in case anyone else wants to know.... The item you are talking about is an amulet of necropotence. It drops off named mobs in Plane of Fear, and any class can click it from inventory.
Question
# Oct 14 2004 at 6:35 AM Rating: Decent
if you purchase a rubicite BP, prior to turning in the gold ticket, will it guarantee that you dont get one, and receive a different item, or will it eat the ticket and give you nothing? also can SK and Paladin have a chance of winning those drums, since theres no point being the AA horse is better, any info is appreciated!

lv70 pally and yes.. u can win a Glowing Drum, despite Holy/Unholy Steed ><

-edit - to the post below mine.. I have had a response say something about the wheel being stuck, and then turned it in again to receive a reward that i did not have. I haven't heard of anyone getting a duplicate lore message on turn-in of a Gold Ticket.

If you turn in a gold ticket it CAN give you a "Duplicate Lore" message and you wind up with nothing. So there's no point in buying up the trash stuff, you just wind up with even less that way.

Yeah, finally got a golden ticket after quite a bit of donating to the cause. Turned it in and got an Ancinet Burrower Spine. Great weapon, but guess what? I am a freakin' RANGER, and it's NO DROP. WOW. Yes, I turned the tokens into the Ranger game master or whatever he's called. Thanks, love the casino.

Well I just spent 4000pp on this dumb thing, and the only things I got were 8 vegetable stews, 2 Herb stews, and one Crushed flame emerald. Guess that's why they call it gambling.....Damn Sony....YOu could come off some of that stuff, more often than that....

junk loot for me
# Sep 01 2004 at 1:20 AM Rating: Decent
Nothing worthwhile for an sk I see higher end. Dru, cleric, ranger, get 2-3 items very useful if they get lucky. Monks get uber pvp staff. If the regen BP was clicky instead of worn it might be better, oh well.

And yea, make the stones augs, otherwise they get deleted. Can get the bows from the baz with the same resists if its that big of an issue plus 100hps~ I was all excited to go try and win something till I noticed there was nothing worth winning.

still open?
# Jul 18 2004 at 6:12 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone know if the Casino is still open? I haven't seen lots of people in SH lately and was just wondering. If it is, could someone give me a loc plz.
RE: still open?
# Jul 24 2004 at 10:53 AM Rating: Decent
If you zone into SH from the Nexus, pretend like you're going to paludal caverns... you'll have to walk up a little flight of stairs and there's a building in the wall called "Shadeling's Roost" or whatever. Thats where the casino is and yes it's still open.
cash out?

I have no problem with the way the casino is run except with the fact that I can't cash out. As I was playing for the first time today I bought 1 token...I won 20. Now at a normal casino I would take my 2000 and walk away but in this casino I have to keep pumping tokens into the game. I walked away with 6 Vegetable Stews and 1 Herb Stew and a feeling that I was robbed of 100pp

I understand that the tokens need to be made no drop but honestly there needs to be some way of 'cashing out' when you are up big.

# Jun 13 2004 at 2:46 PM Rating: Decent
Bought tokens for 1500pp and won a gold ticket, turned it in and won holgresh elder beads. Sold it for 400k on mith marr and now I have spent 200k on that casino to win one more ticket but no luck at all =(
pretty quick
# Jun 09 2004 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
brought 8k to the casino, burnt 2k on a stack... took me about 1 hour to finish that stack (kept and kept winning more tokens). The guy certainly liked me... Went and bought another stack, won Snakefingers... little while later won some Beer Goggles (woot). Also won some gems and essence of troll and high elf, MANY vegtable stews and a good amount of fireworks. Much fun
was this for EVENT?? no more?

Spent about 40-50K over the past couple weeks on this and I won a Gold ticket tonight. Excellent payoff IMO since they are selling on my server upwards of 250k. Hoping I can trade it for an AoN. It is my understanding that turning in a golden ticket results in 1 of the following:

Fungus Covered Greatstaff
Glowing Black Drum
Glowing White Drum
Scimitar of the Mistwalker
Vibrating Gauntlets of the Infuse
Ton Po's Bo Stick of Understanding
Rubicite Breasplate
Guise of the Deceiver
Holgresh Elder Beads

the rest of the items listed are won for tokens.

I just wanted to say that I spent 507pp for 5 tokens and won back about 60 tokens in the process... thought I was gonna get lucky after that good luck but still ended up with nothing but fireworks and stat food... next time I'm going back with 608pp and getting my glowing drum :-)

Me and my bro spent about 18.5k the first time, 8k the second time, and 8k the third time, and all we got was junk... add it up

= 34.5k for what? food and junk

Resistance stones
# Mar 20 2004 at 1:25 AM Rating: Decent
Given the relatively mild stats on these resistance stones and given that they are no-drop and lore, I think they should make them convertable/useable as type 1 or type 7 augments that can be added to range slot. That would make the prize more useful.
RE: Resistance stones
# Apr 01 2004 at 9:27 AM Rating: Decent
except that each of them adds 35 to one resist.

Sure it only adds one to each of the other resists, but 35 to a single resist still makes it a nice "special use" item.

Class Descrimination!
# Mar 19 2004 at 11:11 PM Rating: Decent
No NPC for Beserker turnins!

:Is this a Casino or a soup kitchen?
RE: Class Descrimination!
# Mar 20 2004 at 1:37 AM Rating: Decent
My berserker noticed that too.

He has been using Therin Asakith, who is the NPC for all non-hybrid melees (warrior, rogue, monk); they just need to add berserker to his list.

Melees and hybrids both use the same velious quest gems. Aside from that concern, it really doesn't make a huge difference, even if you did use the wrong NPC, unless you really care about STR being in the stat foods.

In fact, my beastlord sometimes uses the shaman NPC because the stat food is more useful from the WIS caster NPC.

If you win the big prize, the gold ticket will get you something appropriate, no matter which NPC you got it from.
