I never talked to the guy before, when i zoned to neriak commons i got the traveler achievment so nope, i never started this quest.
Any idea on how to go on?

Find the enchanter guildleader Ryoz K`Tarn on the top floor of the caster guild in Neriak Commons.

If only there was a way to [get rid of the Trolls].' You say, 'I will get rid of the Trolls.' Ryoz K`Tarn says 'The only way to get rid of the dirty beasts is to give them their so-called [city back].' You say, 'Their city back?' Ryoz K`Tarn says 'You truly are an imbecile aren't you? We have to [get rid of the Frogloks]!' You say, 'I will get rid of the Frogloks.' Ryoz K`Tarn says 'Well there are several ways. We could kill all of the slimy jumpers, but the king and queen won't commit our forces to that. We could infiltrate their ranks and sow dissension, but the most direct way would be to [assassinate] some of their leaders.' You say, 'I will assassinate their leaders.' Ryoz K`Tarn says 'I don't know. Perhaps you should speak to someone who does things like that for a living like one of our local assassins. Come back and see me when you have found a way to kill the slimy beasts. Now quit pestering me before I grow angry!' Next, find Sazan K`Jartan in the Rogue guild, Neriak third quarter. He is the first NPC on the right when you enter the rogue guild. Make sure you have an inventory slot open. At this point, if you are KOS to the rogue guild you need to hail him and complete the dialog quickly, as he will attack you during it. He doesn't hit very hard, but when done you need an escape plan. Having a wizard or druid there to cast evacuate/exodus is ideal. You say, 'Hail, Sazan K`Jartan' Sazan K`Jartan glances at you from the corner of his eye. 'You'd better speak more swiftly than my blades or you won't walk out of here ______.' Sazan K`Jartan says 'You are quite bold to approach a member of the Ebon Mask. Now be smart and run away.' Sazan K`Jartan says 'Prepare to be gutted like a fish.' Sazan K`Jartan says 'Ah, come to speak business have you, I figured Ryoz would be sending someone to me eventually. Well then, let's get down to business. I know of a [potent poison] that will kill even the hardiest Froglok quickly and silently, but with great pain.' You say, 'What potent poison?' Sazan K`Jartan says 'It is a bubbling concoction that can be quite dangerous to make for those with less than skilled hands. I will make this poison for you. However, I will need you to gather the [necessary materials].' You say, 'What necessary materials?' Sazan K`Jartan says 'Well, first off, we will need one dose of Mage's Bane which I just happen to have here. However, I will also need a dose of Susceptible Essence, a dose of Mind Melt and two [special ingredients]. When you have collected these poisons use this mortar to combine them and then hand me the result. Now you must be careful as this mortar is very fragile. If you happen to break it just tell me you need another and I will give you a new one.' You receive a Slime Coated Mortar and Pestle. You say, 'What special ingredients?' Sazan K`Jartan says 'There is an associate of mine who can be found in a place known as the cauldron. Show him this note and he should be able to point you in the right direction. Be wary, retrieving these two ingredients will not be easy. Keep in mind that my friend will not talk to you unless you have some proof from me. If you lose this note come on back, let me know and I will write another for you.' At this point, he has handed you a four-slot container to mix the final poison in, as well as a note to deliver to Grimpl Rustedcog, in Dagnor's Cauldron. He can be found on the island in the center of the lake. You say, 'Hail, Grimpl Rustedcog' Grimpl Rustedcog says 'Can I help you, or do you normally walk up to those you don't know and stare at them?' Hand him the note. Grimpl Rustedcog says 'Ah, you want some Viscous Venom, eh? Well I just used my last little bit to settle a score with an old gambling buddy. If you really want some you'll have to get it from good Ol' [Jagged Fang]!' You say, 'Who is Jagged Fang?' Grimpl Rustedcog says 'Jagged Fang is a long time resident of this here lake. Her scales secrete a liquid that is quite potent. The effects of this liquid causes one's mind and body to become weak. While she is a rather non-aggressive beast, I would suggest you bring some friends if you plan on getting some of her venom. Oh and one more thing, if you can manage to subdue her bring me back what you get and then I will tell ya who can help out with the other item you need.' Upon asking about Jagged Fang, the mob should spawn across the lake on the shore. The snake cons dark blue to level 65, summons, hits for around 200, poisons and you can't stun her. Once dead, she drops Venom Filled Scales (no drop) which you take back to Grimpl Rustedcog. Grimpl Rustedcog says 'Heh, I thought I would never see you again. Guess Ol' Jagged Fang wasn't as tough as I heard. Anyway here are your scales back and a note to my friend Saeko. She should be able to help you. You can normally find her wandering around the Southern Desert.' He will hand back the Venom Filled Scales and a Note to Saeko. Travel to South Ro and find Saeko L`Vinec at the dark elf merchant tents. You say, 'Hail, Saeko L`Vinec' Hand her the note. Saeko L`Vinec says 'So you're the one Sazan sent to help. He must need this venom badly. Tell you what, since I have been here for so long and turned up nothing I will tell you the [last known area] that Gargantula was spotted. She is a crafty beast who uses the sands of this desert to move silently.' You say, 'Last known area?' Saeko L`Vinec says 'From the information I have gathered the last time she came above ground was somewhere in the middle of the. . . Suddenly as if staring in the face of death Saeko's blue skin turns deathly grey. She looks at you for a moment and begins to cast a spell. That's when you hear a loud chittering behind you.' Saeko L`Vinec begins to cast the gate spell. This summons a large spider named Gargantula. The spider hits for 275 max, can't be snared, can't be stunned, and summons. A little over halfway through the fight, she will summon ten small spiders (Frenzied Gargling, Rabid Gargling, Gargling Runt, etc). These small spiders can be mezzed and have few hit points. When dead, you can loot a Venom Soaked Mandible which you will use for the poison combine. Next, you need to hire the services of a rogue with 250 poison making skill, or find two more poisons for sale in the bazaar. The first is Susceptible Essence and is made by combining Ethereal Suspension, Nohope Moss x2, Sealed Poison Vial and Snowcap Amanita. The second poison you need is Mind Melt, which is made by combining Ethereal Suspension, Mt. Death Mineral Salts x2, Quicksilver and a Sealed Poison Vial. Once you have the poisons, put your Venom Filled Scales, Venom Soaked Mandible, Susceptible Essence and Mind Melt in the mortar and pestle given to you by Sazan. Click combine to craft Bubbling Concoction, which is lore and no drop. Take this concoction back to Sazan in Neriak. At this point, if you are KOS to him you need to take an enchanter that can charm him to do the hand in. Sazan K`Jartan takes the materials from you. Sniffing the sickly smell coming from the container, he nods and grabs a small vial from a pouch on his belt. He begins to mix the vial into the jar gently as beads of sweat begin to form on his forehead. Then, he smiles in triumph. Sazan K`Jartan says 'I did it! I didn't think I would be able to but here I stand triumphant. I got the recipe from an associate of mine named Tisumie, beautiful lass, deadly with a blade. It took a fortune to get that recipe from her but it will be well worth it if we can accomplish our goal. Well now, all that remains is the delivery. Take this to Ryoz and he will give you further instructions. It will kill any Froglok in Norrath. That I guarantee!' He will hand you back a Vial of Froglok's Bane, which you deliver to Ryoz. Ryoz K`Tarn says 'You've done it! I'd thank the gods if I believed in them. Take this stone and it will allow you to travel amongst their ranks as one of them. Once you have infiltrated their city give this poisoned ale to Dar Strategist Guib. When the trolls hear of the strategist's death perhaps we can persuade them to leave our city and reclaim theirs. The stone will only work once so use it wisely. If you somehow make a mistake in using it return it to me and I will imbue it once again.' Ryoz hands you A Mug of Poisoned Ale and a Froglok Stone. At this point, if you were only after the stone you are done. You can use the stone at any time and return to Ryoz to get it recharged. If you are after the spell Illusion: Guktan, you need to do the last task for Ryoz: Head to the Rathe Mountains froglok town and poison Dar Strategist Guib. He is located at -1758, +103 (next to the tribute master). You say, 'Hail, Dar Strategist Guib' Dar Strategist Guib says 'Well hello there. I don't mean to be rude but I am trying to enjoy a short break alone and enjoy my favorite Ale.' Give him the mug of poisoned ale. Dar Strategist Guib says 'Thanks young one, that was just what I needed. Take this as a token of my gratitude. Perhaps you will join our ranks when you get older.' You hand Guib the mug of ale laced with Froglok's Bane. He grins and downs the deadly syrup in one gulp. Your faction standing with Protectors of Gukta got worse. You gain experience!! after many attempts, cant get gargantula to spawn... still broken

I can confirm quest is still broken. Tried it today on Mischief and no Gargantula spawn.
Fortunately still flagged to keep asking "last known area", but each time get the correct response, Saeko gates out, and no Gargantula spawns. Tried it both dubious and warmly factions, neither worked but both got correct response.

This quest has been updated to not allow the hand in of the poison ale to Dar Strategist Guib if you are invised or of any non kindly faction.
However... in case you didn't figure it out... all you need to do is use the "Froklok Stone" you received with the poisoned ale. This will give you a one time use of Illusion: Froglok. Now Dar Strategist Guib will accept the poisoned ale from you.. and you get the insignia.

The name of the container is "Slime Coated Mortar and Pestle" and it's a 4 slot large container that is 0.4 wt.

I have just discovered that if you get to the last stage of the quest where you have to hand in the poisoned mug of ale to the Dar Strategist and you're KOS to the frogs he wont accept the ale from you. You need to get an invis before completing the hand-in. AA perfect invis worked for me. I imagine this would work with basically any other KOS hand-in.
Took me about 10 minutes before figuring out i could do that. cheers good luck, cool looking illusion spell.

This quest is messed up slightly. Here are the dialogs when I did part of the quest today.
Evil part
You say: Hail, Sazan K'Jartan
Sazan K'Jartan glances at you out of the corner of his eye. You'd better speak more swiftly than my blades or you won't walk out of here <character name>.
At this point, he does nothing! (even with trigger words for quest) I waited, and waited and waited some more. Finally...after 10 minutes of sitting there, he started attacking me. Once he starts attacking you, you can say the quest words.

I just wanted to point out that if you are doing the evil side quest, that if you are a Dark Elf that obviously you will be 'amiable' to this guy and will have to cast an illusion on yourself, such as High Elf. Otherwise, he will not attack you and you will not be able to do this part of the quest.
This guy does NOT hit hard at all. Actually, my crappy enchanter pet actually killed him accidentally! LOL.
These two things he does NOT say, at least when I did it.

I just hailed him and he responded with some useless threat.
I then said the quest words and he immediately responded.
It would be nice if there was some indication what you are supposed to say, short of looking it up here there was no clue at all that this was the person you needed to see or what to say to him.

This quest is still broken, turned in note to Saeko L`Vinec, went through the dialog, she gated and Gargantula never showed up. I had a ranger there with me for track. We wasted about 90 minutes waiting on him to spawn and he never did. Guess I'll try the good version of this quest and use my illusions to get around.
I have found that if Gargantula has been spawned previously, then you can not get him back until the zone has been reset (server reloaded). Saeko L'Vinec pops quickly, but if you hand her a note after this has been done before, then she despawns and no Gargantula.

I've tried as well in fresh picks, still no pop. There might be cooldown on spawn but seems broken even beyond that.

Aside from the location of the Dar Strategist, the quest worked fine for my chanter... the Dar Strategist is east of the paladin GMs, hand him the poisoned mug, watch him "croak", get the symbol and give it to Ryoz in Neriak Commons, yippee, new spell toy!
This quest changed since the move to rathe mountains, yes? the previous dialogue was:

After several turn-ins and no Gargantula spawn ... and awhile there where I couldn't even find Saeko up, I finally managed to get this done today. Gargantula spawned immediately at camp. Maybe it's been fixed, or perhaps I just got lucky.
I have turned in the note 3 times to Saeko. Gargantula has never popped or spawn for me. Each time I had to /petition to get the note back and the GM said it isn't bugged. The last time I did this I had 3 trackers: bard, ranger, druid when I turned the note in. They ran around South Ro for 3 hrs with me and nada. We even checked North Ro and nothing so went back to South Ro and still never popped. Any ideas cause I even sent in a /bug report and its still broken. Any Ideas ?

i have done the hail and turned in note and said the phrase 3 times now and the spider has never popped though she gates just fine... i think is broke on tunare at least

I turned the note in, said the phrase, the npc gated, but Gargantula never spawned. Bugged from revamp?
I just did it today for my level 61 enchanter, worked just fine for me.
Edit: Dar Strategist Guib is found in Rathe Mountains now. May want to update the quest =)

The poison has taken it's victim swiftly just as you were told. You grin to yourself evilly as Guktan healers rush to the aid of their fallen comrade. From this day forward Gukta will forever be changed.

Has anyone else had problems getting the spide in Sro. i have tried twice and he wont spawn. i'm a Rogue, but i wanna be a FROGGY ROG!
You have to do the dialog properly. I handed in the note and got no spawn right away because you have to complete the dialog.

I've used the dialogue "last know area" dozens of times, still no respawn. Each time she gates as expected. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether or not correct dialogue is used.

I went to Neriak Commons to begin my quest for the illusion spell. Seems the dialogue is slightly altered, so here is the conversation:

Hail, Ryoz K'Tarn.
Ryoz K'Tarn says, "Hm, I don't recognize you, but perhaps you are one that has come to help me exact [revenge]?"
I will help exact revenge.
Ryoz K'Tarn says, "Yes, yes! Revenge is what I yearn. I want blood, amphibious blood, in the name of my brother who was killed many moons ago a [slimy swamp dweller]."
What slimy swamp dweller?
Ryoz K'Tarn says, "You imbecile! Can you not tell by my words that he was killed by the webbed hands of a [froglok!]"
What froglok?
Ryoz K'Tarn says, "The froglok I want to see dead is Dar Strategist Guib, a cherished froglok in that old troll city. He was in an elite troop of frogloks patrolling the Deserts of Ro during the invasion of Grobb. My brother was part of a small unit of Teir'dal tasked with assessing the capabilities of the Guktans for our king and queen. This Guktan discovered my brother's unit and attacked them. Most fled, but my brother was left behind to die. I need to exact my revenge, and I need to [assassinate] this foul froglok."
I will assassinate.

Anyone find out how to get a new note? He mentions it but no matter how many times and how many different versions I try he is not giving me a new note.
Grimpl won't talk to me either anymore or give me a new note (I lost out on Gargantuan, it never spawned) to give to the DE in SRo.
Ryoz won't give me the quest text either, no matter what I say to him.

Just tell the dark elf in SRO 'Last Known Area?' and you should get a new spawn. A lot of people turn in the note but forget to complete the dialog that is required for the spawn.

No need to get new note. Just need to keep completing the dialogue with "last known area". She will gate and mob will not spawn...

Yes the text has changed but if you follow it through it DOES come to part where you say I will Assassinate their leaders, and from then on it is the same.

Dar Strategist Guib is ready to attack, use the froglok stone for illusion and he changes to indifferently then turn in the ale.
i did it without illsuion first try and hailed him when he was ready to attack, he asked me for the ale and i turned in but he ate it and didnt return anything :( thx to the GM who reimbursed my ale to try again :)
