Lord Qyzar is standing on the parapet one level up in the SK guild, at +1005, -150. For the Crusader's Test of the Hero, Lord Qyzar requires you to retrieve the [visceral dagger].

You say, 'What of the visceral dagger?'

Lord Qyzar says 'The visceral dagger was an ancient torturing weapon. I do not know much of it other than that it was forged by a member of the Brood of Kotiz, but that was ages ago. He is surely dust by now.'

Not much to go on, but if you find your way to the Crypt of Dalnir, you can find various scraps of paper called "A Journal Entry" which identify as "Crusader Nodfod 1-6."

#1 reads:


Day 47

Crusader Golin and I have discovered what we
believe to be the crypt of the ancient Haggle
Baron Dalnir. It would seem as though the babble
of the goblin slave we caught and tortured turned
out to be accurate.
Unfortunately we must rest and plan our route
into the depths of this beast. It is filled with
very dangerous creatures. Hopefully we can
overcome the odds and find the final resting
place of the Visceral Dagger and the Grand Forge.


#2 reads:

Day 48
Blast! This IS the Crypt of Dalnir. We found
the entrance which had the ancient Haggle Baron's
name upon it. How foolish of the crypt keepers!
The Crypt is filled with croaks from many races.
They seem to be in some sort of trance and far
more powerful then they appear. We were about to
enter the main tomb when we were assaulted by
the horde. Crusader Golin sustained a major gash
on his shoulder. Before I could cauterize his
wound, blood flowed all over, even this entry.
Tomorrow we shall try to enter the main tomb.


#3 reads:

Day 49
We finally had an opportunity to make a run into
the main tomb, but just as we had the
sarcophagus in our sights, we fell through a
trap door hidden on the floor. We fell into what
appears to be the true Crypt of Dalnir and also
a haven for coerced sarnak! They were upon us in
no time. We ran, but found ourselves in an
unholy church. We fought our way out, but just
as we broke through, Golin's skull was punctured
by what appeared to be a rusted Crusader's
khukri. I am now in hiding, praying to any god.


#4 reads:

Day 49 Eve
The gods were listening. After many hours of
hiding, it appears the beasts have gone to
perform some sort of dark ritual in the church
we found earlier. I could hear the screams of a
sacrifice and the chant of some unknown tongue.
I did a reconnaissance of this level and found
no way out. The walls had tombs built into them
as mortuaries do. None of the doors would open,
but I did find one. I slid the sarcophagus out
with much effort. Before I could attempt to open
it I was scared off by noises within the drawer.


#5 reads:

Day 50
What have I gotten myself into? Soon I shall be
dead. After finding the secret passage through
the drawer, I found myself in a pit of evil. I
crept through the shadows and came upon a locked
door. I am no rogue. The door opened and a beast
walked out, I spied the Grand Forge! Perhaps,
also, a way to escape this madness. There must
a key around here somewhere! On the beasts
perhaps. Even fragments which I could piece
together would do. I shall have to face great
evil once more. Gods be with me once more.


#6 reads:

Day 55
I have made my way past many locked doors and
encountered great hordes of evil. The forge
is here. Unfortunately I have learned that the
dagger is fragmented in the crypt. I lost much
in here. My good friend and along with him the
shard which may be a piece to a larger puzzle,
the khukri, Greenmist. I could never get that
back. I would need to speak with the Brood and
obtain a Crusader Coffin. But should I return to
Cabilis without the dagger, Qyzar would torture
me. No! Here shall be my last stand!


You can also occasionally encounter a spectral crusader in the room at +150, -340, -180, who does not respond to hails but will offer a few more clues if you ask the right questions:

You say, 'Do you know of Greenmist?'

a spectral crusader says 'Mighty was the mist which covered the land. Mighty is the blade wielded by a crusader.'

You say, 'Are you Golin?'

a spectral crusader swipes his hand toward his own head in a chopping motion. 'Stuck between crypt and dust.'

You say, 'What of the visceral dagger?'

a spectral crusader says 'Shattered!! Three within the crypt. A master must go. To the [grand forge] they must go. Three become one with the spirit hammer.'

You say, 'Grand forge?'

a spectral crusader points to the ground. 'Beyond the doors lies a forge unlike any other.'

You need to collect three parts of the dagger and the hammer used to reunite them. The three parts of the dagger drop from three different versions of a kly imprecator, each of which may be found in a different part of the dungeon.

a wry kly imprecator spawns on the second floor, in an alcove at +260, -885, -80. From where you drop down to the level, head east, then north as though to get to the portal that exits the dungeon from that level. Where you would turn west to go to the portal, go east instead, and follow the passage north, then west at the next junction, and the path will lead to the room where the next imprecator spawns. This one drops a Dagger Hilt (identifies as "Hilt of Visceral Dagger").

Next, drop to the third floor and head south from the landing spot to reach a room with three decapitated statues to find an undead blacksmith. His placeholder is by the north wall of the room at -45, -685, -190 (the same location as one of the journal scraps). He drops a Forge Hammer of Dalnir.

a shy kly imprecator spawns at the altar in the church area, at +205, -610, -190. He drops a Sharp Metal Shard (identifies as "Shard of Dagger").

a sly kly imprecator spawns in the last room on the left just before the dining room as you're heading south to where the Kly himself spawns, at +10, -155, -180. The placeholder is whatever mob is standing near the lab table in that room. He drops a Jagged Metal Shard (identifies as "Fragment of Dagger").

The Grand Forge is in a room down a passage on the right just before the Kly's room, at -230, +30, -180. Remember this location if you're planning to do the Greenmist quest, since you'll have to use the forge and the nearby tormented tradesman for that as well. The tradesman sees invis but is indifferent to all. Put the three dagger pieces and the hammer in the forge and combine them to create The Visceral Dagger (identifies as "Rusted Visceral Dagger"). The hammer and pieces are consumed.

Can Someone please list the approximate levels of the Imprectors and the Undead Blacksmith needed for the Visceral Dagger?? On Firiona Vie, if you don't do the quest when you are supposed to, you are SOL... so there's no waiting until these are all green to do the quest. Light blue con is the longest I can wait, and I will likely go before then.

Been sitting down in the Church for over 14 hours and NADA...

PH after PH after PH.....

So a warning to all....think before starting this quest....and bring all your "good luck charms" along to help ya out....cause you will need it.

Man...beginning to think that the "Greenmist" quests are not worth this frustration.

they weren't worth it till the latest Greenmist Khurki came out. This thing is tight. Adds a bunch of resists: 1hs 18 and 22 effect greenmist and has band dmg of 6 against shissar. Now that weapon is definetly worth it.

One of my Guild officers has the Greenmist, it is not just 'tight', it is f***ing tight. I think this is VI's way of making up for the fact that us Iks SKs can't wear plate and have a harder time getting the epic than any other SK race.

Take a look over at the Greenmist quest on this site, then decide whether this is worth it.

I spent 3 days in the church and still no damn shard! total of 23 hours up to now.... This is rediculous to say the least and is as bad as the mutant fungus spawn in UGuk. I am beginning to wonder whether it's all worth the 8int i am gonna get... bah!!!!!

from what i understand no

the way it seems to work(havent done it yet) is you get the 4 pieces and put them in the forge and combine, if you put something nodrop in a forge or something like it and close it the items disappear, and since only 1 person can use a forge or something like it at a time i doubt it can be MQed unless you want to count just looting all 4 pieces after someone else kills them, but in that sense pretty much anything can be MQed /shrug

If any of you have ever read the tomes about the Iksar history, then maybe you have read the one about the mystical daggar of the scribe. If you want to read the history of this daggar, go under the area where the Necro spells are sold, under the Grotto. It is sold by a foribbiden scribe. Anyways, I tell this to the best of my memory. There once was a Master and an assistant After the Master dies, the assistant becomes obessed with the arcane magics. He then takes a liking to Wizardry. No one ever knew of his forbidden studyings, and he liked to study alone, only allowing his Sarnak slave, Kly(Ever hear of this name? :P ) to be with him. Then like a Warlord or something, (forgot his name) asks this scribe to enchant him a special daggar. So the scribe, and his Kly, drag Dalnir's Special Forge. (I guess Dalnir was alive at the time. When the Warlord hears of the scribes forbidden research, he decides to kill him. So he sends Crusaders after the scribe. Only needing a few more enchantments, the scribe is killed. The Crusaders, finding out the daggar is not finished, decide to take it back to the Brood. But it never makes it back...So IMO maybe this daggar is used or brought to one of the Necros in the Necro Guild. Well sorry I didn't remember it too well, buy the tome yourself (Oh BTW the book is LORE, and NO DROP, so wondering if this is used in a quest.) Thanks!

All but one piece are no drop. The Sharp Metal Shard dropped in the church is the only part you may be able to pick up from another player.

Jagged Metal Shard just dropped for my SK in Dalnir lab.. It was lore, but NOT no drop.. Must have changed recently I guess.. Lol, easy for me to camp (boring) But I wish I had known, my chanter could lay waste down here ;)

That idea of combining the dagger, with spells, seems like a good idea, especially, since if they don't combine, it won't eat your dagger or spells.
I am one piece (Lab Imp piece) frrom completing this quest, My Necro is only lvl 37 right now, and I've obtained 3 pieces so far. I may have to wait until 44 to get the Lab Imp piece. Since I'm not in this dungeon on a constant basis anymore, I can't keep track of who is on third floor, as I did from lvl 26 to 34. Anyone tried to combine their dagger, and other items in the forge yet?

It took me about a month of camping this friggin place to get all the pieces...I had the dagger for a week before I got a book of obulous...not really worth the waste of time...and the entire time I camped it I got jack for drops...all junk...get something better. And although this dagger looks cool...overall it's not worth the time and effort...it now sits in the bank...as CR gear :P

From one of these posts is mentioned..."a tube of somekind for a different quest."

Could it be that there are multiple parts that make different weapons? I know there is also an obsidian hilt (which I have never seen posted a use for) that is dropped from an Iksar trooper (maybe crusader, which would make sense if it is for Greenmist), if you wait and follow him outside of the gates in Warslik Woods. Could this be another part since Dalnir is in WW?

Like I said...just wondering...

You're definetly not an Iksar SK! I've been waiting 4 months for this quest to be fixed!

Granted the resulting weapon will probably not be better than anything I currently have and will have camps in it to make the hell in the church everyone is going through look like a nap, but I consider it the apex of the Iksar SK career. Even if I never get to go on a raid of VP or take down Dain Frostreaver IV and never even come close to getting IC, I will have Greenmist!

IM a 44 Necro. I tried this Quest and atm i have 3 of the 4 peices.

First off i head to 2nd floor Kly w/ my other Necro firend...We cleared it NP. and Got the impricator to pop. Next off i head to Undead Black smith.

We charged the room of Undead Blacksmith and killed everything. waited for ph, killed it once and then smith poped and down he went.

Next i headed off to the church. This took me bout a week and Finally i got imp to spawn. I soloed this part. As a 44 necro all you have to do is break the spawn in the church and, send your pet and DD the Kly.

Next off I head to the Fuggin Lab...I camped this for 16 HOURS and no POP. My 55 wizard friend and my 56 sk friend came and cleared basiacally the hole zone plus the overseer cause they got bored...Afteer that i just sat there nuking every PH that poped...WTF is up!


One thing You should always have on at 44 is Arch sheilding, Resist cold, steelskin or dieambon skin. Farely easy quest but takes TIME

Well. At level 44 I decided to give this a go. I'm halfway done now.

I started off by DMF, arch shielding and entering Dalnir. Invised, floated down to level 2 and summoned my pet at a relatively safe spot near shackle room. Ran in, owned up with ST gimp messing, a hasted pet and was there for 5 PHs til I got that imprecator.

Next, I went to the lab room. I setup in the safe room before the cells/lab area. I cleared into the imp room and camped. Again, 5 PHs til the imp. I consider myself lucky on this one after reading some of the below posts, but... the next camp... URGH@&#*^@#

Now I find myself in the church. Ah... the church. In some 5 hours spent there the only things I've gotten are tattered arm wraps and a sarnak enforcer. Where the **** is my imprecator? Well, anyway... more camping for me. I'm sure the undead smith is NP.

After that I'm leaving this PH hell for good.

Well. Finished this earlier. Church imprecator was a 12 hour (no ****) camp for me. Ridiculous. Despite the post below by someone claiming the quest is broken (posted a couple days ago), I combined the items for my dagger just fine in the forge.

I made sure to give the kly overseer a few /rude on the way out, as I won't be back for a long time if at all.

first i tried at level 43, got the hilt after 2 PH's, decided i should wait a level for the 3rd floor. So i cam back at 44, camped the blacsmith first(was with an enchanter who was hopeing for a foci), didnt get him for 3 hrs, so i figured my monk friend would get some cresent more liely at the church went there, 21 PH's no imp, and it was patch time. Loged on today, a different Enchanter was keeping me company at the church, also hopeing for a robe though so hed pull the blacksmith/penkeeper spawn to the church everytime it spawned, black smith spawned three times in a row, went through 7 PH's at the church, had to go eat dinner. came back, with my monk friend again, 2 PH's and finaly an imp, got the church shard after a total of 30 PH's, currently in lab, went through 24 PH's today before i called it a night, spawn time if roughly 13 min for the imps.

this is the experience as a 49 necro at the time doing the visceral dagger quest.

first i started with the imprecator on the second floor... i hid in the first alcove to cast my pet then threw him at the 4 spawns and FD to let him kick the crap out of them which he did a nice job of(49 pet spell). After 2 PH's the imprecator spawned and off to the third floor i went.

The forged hammer of dalnir is NOT no rent anymore so we can kill two birds with one stone here. I found that as long as everything in the church is green, you can pull the imprecator PH by targetting him as long as you kill the first spawn on the right (closest one to you). If you dont kill this spawn first, you cant target imp PH without walking in the room and sending 8 kly's agro. What I did for this part was park my pet inside the blacksmith room and pull everything in my way that agros with engulfing dark (no need for anything higher than this). With this method, you have no worry of pet causing the church to go agro and if you have the 49 pet spell i'd recommend doing it this way. This is the longest part and took me around 4 hours to finally get the Imprecator to spawn.

Next off, we head to the laboratory. I parked my pet outside the hall and pulled the two wanderers(pulled a third one too that seemed too close to the lab). Now i walked next to the lab and pulled one of the mobs inside of it to my pet. Then i repeated the same thing for the other and did a /pet get lost ( my pet has a habit of wandering to the wrong place and i didn't want to risk it with so many kly around ). Ran into the lab and recasted pet from here. I parked my pet as close to the lab table as possible and never once agroed one of the wanderers. I sat on the table the whole time as well to avoid problems with wanderers. After 3 PH's the imprecator spawned and down he went.

Now with all 4 pieces, i went into the always works forge room to discover 2 mobs spawn in here and there's also a wanderer. I waited until the wanderer left the hall outside the room and casted my pet in this hall. After this, i charged the room with my pet and beat the living crap out of them. With them dead, i put the 4 pieces in the forge and clicked combine and bang; visceral dagger.

While doing this i came to a few conclusions. The person who said wait 8 minutes before killing the spawn: i don't think so.. the people who think this visceral dagger is incomplete: i think the same thing ( dagger should get 10svmagic or something... make it a little more useful.). Overall, not a bad quest

This type of insertion and assault is much much easier now with the level 44 spell Summon Companion. No need to burn off that 450 mana and 16 seconds for a new level 49 pet, just park his butt (/pet guard here), run to the spot you want him at, and Summon Companion. Now before he walks back to his original spot, park him again, and proceed.

i am only a lvl 35 necro (damn hell lvl) but i would think that making u pet sit and then casting SC would summon u pet and then he wouldnt go wandering back to his guarded spot.... just a thought.

I really think it is worth a shot. Clear all of the klys through the bedrooms and the room across the laboratory. Then split the laboratory spawn, by about three minutes or so (44+ necros should be able to single pull each spawn). Avoid getting aggroed by more than one, the MAX I was able to handle at 44 was two klys. Then, sit in the room across from the lab and wait for a total repop of those two klys. Kill whatever spawns in your room, and when the other kly besides the ph in the lab room spawns, kill him. Wait for the imprecator ph to spawn then wait 6 full minutes before killing him. Repeat. And I suppose this will greatly reduce the time to camp the imprecator, but like I said, I am interested in what happens with you folks, so please post your results.
