Note: To receive the Charm of the Brotherhood, all you need to do is hand Firon Dernkal the four medallions. The text below may or may not have anything to do with the charm...

Firon Dernkal may be found at -85, -1110, +3, at the top of the warrior guild. He is indifferent to all races.

You say, 'Hail, Firon Dernkal'

Firon Dernkal says 'Well met _____, what exactly is it I can do for you? You must excuse me if there are no pressing matters, I have a very important [lieutenant] to track down. He has been missing for quite some time now.'

You say, 'Who is this lieutenant?"

Firon Dernkal says, 'Ah yes, of course. The one I speak of is none other than Gerod Yalronsan, he is one of the finest warriors to ever serve the brotherhood. He was recently promoted to official courier of the brotherhood. He has most recently been tasked with the responsibility to take documents to and from Mistmoore. Most notably our battle strategies that are very dangerous if they end up in the wrong hands. I do not know what has become of him and I have grown worried. Would you be [willing to help me locate Gerod]."

You say, 'I am willing to help you locate Gerod.'

Firon Dernkal says 'Very well then. Allow me to gather my thoughts about what he was to pick up and drop off this trip. Ah yes, of course, he was to report to Eirod Haerod with our latest plans for the attack on Kelethin with the help of Clan Crushbone. If you wished to find his whereabouts, visiting her would probably be a good place to start. Bring this symbol so that she will know we have sent you.'

Receive Symbol of the Brotherhood, which you can take to Eirod Haerod in Castle Mistmoore.

(dialogues?)

She'll ask you to bring her a Brownie Torso in exchange for some war plans. (Where does it go from here?)

(Steps missing here: Is there any dialogue to suggest you should hand in the four medallions to Firon Dernkal?)

Upon turning in the four medallions to Firon Dernkal -- Silver Medallion, Gold Medallion, Platinum Medallion, Bronze Medallion, all random drops in Dulak's Harbor:

Firon Dernkal says 'This is terrible news most definitely. I do not know how this could have happened. Gerod was one of the most skilled weapon masters that the Brotherhood has ever seen. I do certainly appreciate your work and dedication to this matter, please take this charm as a token of my appreciation.'

Receive Charm of the Brotherhood.

When you hail the guy who gives you the Charm, he mentions a missing Lieutenant, then he asks if you [will help me find Gerod]. When you say you will, he gives you the SYMBOL of the Brotherhood to give to her to prove you are from the Indigo Brotherhood. Give her that, she says you must be bringing the rest of [gerods] plans (or something) then mentions that something else is [missing]. Tell her Gerod's Missing and the talks about some war papers. What war papers has her asking for 2 Brownie Torsos. 2 Torsos get you Sealed war documents. Take them back to original guy and he talks about some [keepsakes] of Gerod's. What keepsakes gets you the information that they are his medals and that he received FOUR of them ie. Platinum, gold, silver and bronze. Allakhazaam just cut to the chase on the quest.

Did it yesterday, all 4 medallions of service drop off of mobs in Dulaks, Some were off of the first 3 boats (stormwave, LadyD and Dandolak) and the yard trash outside of Dandolak. I just invised into Neriak, hailed Firon and handed in the medallions, he returned the charm with no message. The charm is now tradeable.

Firon Dernkal is in Neriak Commons at the top of the warrior guild/arena. His loc is -83.22, -1109.13, 3.13.

It starts out (need to copy from my logs though):
/target Firon Dernkal
/hail Firon Dernkal
/say who is your lieutenant
/say I am willing to help you locate Gerod.

I'm only at this point so far. I can't find Eirod Haerod anywhere who you have to turn in the symbol to that Firon gives you. I"ll include more when I get to my logs.

When I hail Firon Dernkal, he says, 'Well met Sukrasisx. What exactly is it I can do for you? You must excuse me if there are no pressing matters, I have a very important [lieutenant] to track down. He has been missing for quite some time now.' But when I ask 'What lieutenant?' or anything else I could think of (e.g., 'I will help you track down the very important lieutenant'), he doesn't respond. I did a /bug in case the text is broken?

When I turned in the medallions, he said, 'This is terrible news most definitely. I do not know how this could have happened. Gerod was one of the most skilled weapon masters that the Brotherhood has ever seen. I do certainly appreciate your work and dedication to this matter, please take this charm as a token of my appreciation.' But I then tried asking 'Who is Gerod?' and such, and that didn't get a response either.

Anyway, the quest still works even without the text, fortunately. I just prefer actually going through the quest dialogs whenever possible!

This is a easy quest if u go to Dulak. U pick teh medallions up at random or check ooc for some one with loc on a rotting corpse. It coems in handy to ahv on u until u get a nice charm. As long as theres a same calss/race as u in a group the charm gets stats.
What's it for?

I wonder if anyone has figured out what this item is for? Please respond if so. (Meaning the symbol, not the charm.)

Did this from start to finish tonight with my 52 bst after seeing a few of the medallions drop in Dulak. All i had to do (and here's the fun part) was use a de illusion potion made from dark elf parts that you can get in gunthak/dulak without hurting your DE faction, and so long as they don't do anything more than scowl at you you can DE illusion up and do all the running around that you need to do, just make sure you have at least a 5 dose potion with you unless you can gate out after you give the medallions to the guy.

Had a time trying to find this guy Firon Dernkal. He is on top of a building. Not in. Cannot say for sure but I believe it was building number 5 on the http://www.eqatlas.com/neriakcommonsmap.html map.
There is one guard that will path on top of the building also. Just wait till he goes back down the stairs and feel free to un invis. As always, don't forget that you can buy invis potions at teh lighthouse in the gulf aswell as in Pok "building to the soulbinders right".

I think that Rangers may want to take the time to get this, as I see the rare all Ranger bow killing groups still forming from time to time. That being to only good reason for this to be in the game at all OMHO.
Dude isnt on Find

Secret Passage in Neriak

I just completed this quest with my 51 Pally. Here is how to navigate through Neriak Commons without having to deal with the exterminator. Make sure you are invisible throughout the process. I had a friend cast inviso on me (thanks Cerridwen), but you can just as easily buy inviso potions for roughly 10pp. Enter Neriak Commons and walk down the cave to the first room. You will see the Priest of Discord and Fleshweaver T'soma. Next to T'soma is a waterfall. Walk into the waterfall and swim up. After only a short way up you will pop out of the back into a secret cave. Turn left and follow the cave to the end, where you will go up some stone stairs and enter the Toadstool bar (facing east). Strafe left around the little wall infront of you and exit through the wooden door (still facing east). Immediately turn left and you will see two white stone pillars marking an ornate ramp. Go past the pillars (do not go up the ramp) and you will see a small wooden door to your right. Enter this door and follow the stairs up to the balcony to find Firon Dernkal. If a guard is there, wait for a few seconds and he will leave. Once he's gone you have about 45 seconds or so till he returns. Turn in the four medallions to Firon and claim your reward.

Here's the kicker. I never said a word to Firon, and my invisibility never dropped. I just handed the medallions to him and clicked the give button. Good luck!

Yes, excellent walkthrough on the path. My druid and a mage friend gathered the medallions while working on my Healing Water spell in Dulak, and then this path (plus invis) got us to the NPC. I'll just add that there does seem to be a guard who spawns right next to Firon. The mage chose to do the turn-in visible, and had just gotten his medallion when Klan K`Jartan appeared and attacked. He managed to take down the guard. Then I came in with my druid, running Improved Camou, did the turn-in while still invis (which worked and didn't lose the invis buff), but then the same guard respawned, somehow caused my invis to drop (?), and we had to take him down again. (I even re-invised during the fight, and the guard then conned indifferent, so it's not as though he sees invis. Very odd.)

I don't know if the guard spawned as a result of doing the turn-in, or if I just got unlucky on his respawn time (it was just shy of 10 minutes after the first kill). Anyway, definitely watch out for him, and move away from Firon (or just gate out) immediately after doing the turn-in.

Thank you for the information! This was a big help to me and my monk buddy. Both acquired all the medallions in less then 2 hours and wanted to go get the charm. He hadn't been in Neriak in over 2 years and I had never been there at all. With my invis and sow, and your elite directions, this was made into a much easier quest. Thanks again.

# Aug 02 2003 at 7:21 AM Rating: Decent
The medallions drop randomly from anything in the zone, except for the mobs in the Luggald Tunnels. I was able to get all 4 fromm the Mobs on the boat, "Lady D". Plus by hunting or waiting on this boat, it will be easier for you to get to the medallionns that are rotting on the other boats. The ability to cast or having a partner to cast invisibility on you is of the utmost importance.

Okay, I just finished this quest with my High Elf Wiz at 40th. All you need is Invis, but I recommend Levitate too.

There are two exterminators, the first one in Foreign Qtr will NOT see through invis, just run past. I had no issues in FQ at all.

Once inside COmmons, go through first gate and up ramp toward second gate. Don't get too close, there is an Exterminator there that WILL see through the invis. The easy way around it is to run off to the right. Swim or run on the water(levitated) to the docks.

Go in the gate in that wall. There will be a bar of some sort, just run through heading back and to the right. This door will exit you near another door just across the way. You will see the large white pillars of another building entry way to your left. Take the no-descript door and its stairs to the roof of this building.

There will be two peeps here, Firon and a Guard. Wait till the Guard is across the roof or gone, he is white at 40th. Firon is Indifferent. Hand him the medallions and he hands you the charm...no conversation necessary.

His actual loc is -90, -1100 ish.

Your done, gate out!

Cake.

An added twist...

Firon was not on the balcony when I got there. He was standing right next to the exterminator =(

I got around this by creating a DE wizzy, climbing on the balcony over Firon, and casting Shock Frost with the 1 wizzy. You can imagine how long it to Firon to bolt up the stairs and exact his revenge.

I then logged in with my main, invised, and did the hand in with him safely up the balcony, hovering over my alt's corpse.

I got this charm last night July 28th, 2003. The Exterminator does indeed see through invis and attacked me three times right after i entered thru the gate. I had to zone out each time as the guards jumped in too. He cons red to my 56 druid. I followed the hidden path behind the waterfall and sure enough it takes you to an area past this guy. I turned in the medallions with no problem whatsoever. No spawns or pops or other mobs of any sort. Afterwards I just gated out. I do reccomend using the hidden path behind the waterfall, just make sure you go slow, I fell off the path the first time and ended up at a dead end. The proper path leads to steps that go up. Good luck. Safe travels.

Just did this 10 minutes ago, and the Commons one indeed saw through invis: both rogue sneak/hide, and clicky gather shadows. That said, I was able to hug the wall in the room he was in and didn't get agro. I would assume that Shroud of Stealth rogue AA hide/sneak would work on him, but that is hardly helpful to 99% of us. :)

To avoid the exterminator you can try using the secret passage which is behind the water fall about halfway down the ramp (before the POD). When you get through the water fall take the left which slopes down. The passage will bring you out near the warrior guild.

I tried to do this quest a few days prior to the patch that brought in the Exterrminator. I didn't realise that this npc could see through invis, rather I thought my invis had dropped. Took me a second death to realise my error....a kindly DE turned up and showed me the alternative of the passage.

I tried to go in today and got to the Commons but there was a guy name Exterminator Damasi just past the first couple grouping of guards that saw through invis. He was red to my 51 Warrior but didn't hit very hard. Problem was as soon as he hit me invis dropped and all the guards standing nearby jumped me.

I was able to make it back to zone and only lost 2 bubs of health but I'll go back and look for ED with my DE Chanter before making the run again.

I posted under the item itself with stats and opinions, here's the turn-in experience: Ranger Camo at Book in Nek; run past guards to tunnel and re-camo before zonin; run like heck thru foreign quarter to extreme rear of Commons, up stairs, passed gaurd, and faced guard with NPC in front of me and back to balcony wall; Hail the NPC; Camo DOES NOT DROP; hand him all four Medallions[5 days work, 4 hours a day]; NPC says last line as though I had done the quest; Charm in Inventory! Now, I start down the stairs and caught TWO hp damage going down stairs tooo fast - Camo drops and guard starts a-swingin.....I ran thru the Commons and FQ while losing 250+ HP of my self-buffed self[44Rngr]. In Nek, Camo again and head to book; tested with 2 other Rangers in Bazaar: 10HP, 3AC, MR+4, no report on mana - mine doesn't show stats in Item Window.....

After some searching, I found Firon. When I hail him, he says something about tracking down a very important [lieutenant]. I can't get him to say more and have the 4 medallions on me. Anyone know what to say so I can turn them in?

[I found out the answer. You say nothing at all, just hand over the medallions!]

First I thougth this was a different quest, as Firon never asked me to get any medallions, just sent me right away to Eriod Haerod (its a female DE) in castle Mistmoore. She asks you to find brownie torsoes. After handing those to her, she rewards you with sealed war documents. Identified, they say something about an island.

The write up says Firan Dernkal, but the first name is spelled Firon. He is located in the Neriak Commons, at location -77, -1101, on the roof.
second part?

Anyone start in on the second part after you get the Charm?
He gives you an item called "Symbol of the Brotherhood" and you are to get information from Gared Yalronsaw. But to find Gared you first must find Eriod Haerod and give him the symbol.
The quest had to do with getting information for a join raid with the Crushbone clan on the nearby Wood Elfs.
I coudnt find either in Crushbone. With the help of a tracker GFay was also a bust.
Figured it coudnt hurt so I searched all of Neriak and came up empty.

Any got anything elso on this second part?

Theoretically yes, but since all the medallions are no drop, and the charm is no drop, whever you want receive this still has to loot at least one of the medallions in person from Dulak.

Did this with 54 Paladin (Human/Karana) with the help of a 47 Druid. For the turn-in in Neriak Commons, there's a spot to the side of the npc near the railing where you can stand at out of the aggro range of the closest static guard. Nothing along the way saw through invis. Druid had fastest group port spell memmed but didn't need it.

Fortunately, didn't see any roving guards, so can't report on them. One idea, though. If first try had failed, was going back with 65 chanter to charm guard. Don't know if this would work. Didn't need to find out.

I tried this last night. As a 58 mage, this guard was light blue to me. I decided that even though the range was pretty good between me and him and the level difference between us was probably good enough to reduce the aggro range that I would call my pet just to be safe.

I guess maybe your faction is not quite as bad as mine (bottomed out with every Neriak faction). Well, as soon as invis dropped he started running for me. Bad channeling luck and he interrupted my spell just barely. Made a run for the border but the rest of the guards made sure that didn't happen.

Going back tonight with chip on my shoulder this time. I'm gonna make certain there won't be any guards to aggro me after I get my rezz...

Just curious if you just handed the medallions to the NPC or did you haveto converse with him prior to ( I dont wanna just turn em in to be eaten )?

Ok you dont need to hail him ,just pass them right to him.

On another note, not sure if its a roaming guard or stationary but there is a guard directly opposite him which will agro if you're KOS.

Good Luck

Just wondering, do you have to do all the running around detailed here http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=19700, or can you just jump straight to handing in the medallions?

Thanks in advance :)

The quest giver is on top of the warrior guild in the Neriak Commons area. He's on the roof and there are no other mobs near him. I was able to do this quest with my woodelf druid who is very KoS in Neriak by just using invis.

I got all four medallions killing randomly near the dock in Dulak. The medallions seem to be a totally random drop from almost any mob in the zone.

Thanks Iagoe I followed your directions and did same. I am also a wood elf druid. Run to the back of Neriak Commons, go to bottom of arena in warrior guild (pvp area), climbed up the wood stairs. Once I got the the DE at the top of the building, I was safe. Handed in the pieces and got the charm.

During the time I was camping the "a Drunken Pirate" camp, one of the spawns that comes from those houses, (Could be any of the different spawn, there were corpses everywhere when I looted this, since I did not know what it was I did not pay special attention to it.) dropped the Gold Medallion. Have camped this for 3 other periods of time, all of which gave us the desired item for "spell: Stoicism"-quest, but haven't seen this drop before...

Where specifically is this guy in Neriak? Could a good race such as I invis up to him, drop invis, do turn in, and then gate out or are there other MOBs around that I would be KOS to? I'm a Barb Shaman.

Just need a bit of confirmation. I've camped several spots in the zone (Dulak) and it seems all but the Bronze are random drops off of any mob. Another player said the same thing.

So looks like we just need confirmation on the drop of the Bronze , mob and loc.

I personally have seen the other 3 drop at on the ships.

OK all the medallions are random drop, and drop anywhere from the ships crewman to a weary pirate, anything can drop em!!!

Although saying this Plat and Gold seem to drop more at the armory and tavern camps. with the bronze and silver being down by the warehouse camp. its really easy to get all 4 of em, got my mate them within 20mins of joining me there.

havent done hand in yet though :) yet to try that bit
