Be warned, if you want to do this quest, that you have to kill Cmdr Windstream, which was red to me (lvl 23 at that time) and blue to a 34 rogue.
That would make him level 26 or 27, certainly not 24-25, as it is said in the bestiary.

Getting the other stuffs are ok for lvl 20+ ppl, and you could solo everything at 23, maybe less if you are a paladin or a cleric.
I was very lucky to have the two Mallet parts from just two elf skeletons, that spawned in 5 minutes. :)
I then made a DE Necro puppet for getting the note from Gix, bring him to Befallen, logged my main to clean the road to Lrodd, log again my puppet, handled the note to Lrodd and finally logged back my main character to finally see on track (Ranger) that I couldn't kill Cmdr Windstream.
I was lucky to find two ladies from a nice guild (/hug *Knights of the Griffin* of Drinal) who killed that mean zombie for me.
All in all, it's not an easy task and I am not sure the reward is appropriate for the pain.
Maybe in PvP or if you want to resist those painful "fear2" casted by every single necro in Befallen.
I will also try again some evil eyes with this mallet on, just to see if they can waste me again.
(I hate Evil Eyes ;) ).

You say, 'I am interested in your appointed tasks.' Loveal S`Nez says 'Very well. You have gained the appropriate power. I require you to journey to the Commonlands and seek out Kizdean Gix. He is a member of a very important force. Tell him 'Utalk Adarev Otcin'. Remember this password.' Travel to the Commonlands and find Kizdean Gix roaming near the tollbooth. You say, 'Hail, Kizdean Gix' Kizdean Gix says 'If you have business then out with it!! If not, then please be gone. I have little time to waste on chitchat!' You say, 'Utalk Adarev Otcin.' I have attempted to do this quest a number of times with friends of mine, and all of them have had difficulty with this part...
Here's the secret: the note Gix drops is part of the burning rapier quest, written in goblin, and is almost definitely NOT the same as the one he gives you when you tell him the password!
Getting on right now to test this theory out.. but I'll repost to let you know.

Does anyone know if this quest still works? I got the same result as the anonymous WTF earlier... give Llrodd the note, nothing happens. I had warmly faction with Llrodd, too...

The mallet is a nifty lowbie item for pvp.

1) You don't have to do the lindeal quest.
2) The quest is really only doable at level 25 or higher.
3) The only "hard" part of the quest is having to kill 125 elf skels to get the mallet hilt. The head seems to drop off every other skel. Plus he has a dreadbone ph that pops 3-4 times in a row sometimes. Good thing it is a 6 minute spawn!

I just did this quest last night. There is no Mallet Pin. However, there is a Mallet Head and it does combine correctly with the Mallet Hilt and Mallet Stem to form the Thex Mallet.
A simple trade to Loveal gained me the Reaper of the Dead. I hadn't even seen Lindeal.
Is there anyway to recharge the Reaper if you use the Complete Heal?

Heh, has anyone noticed this is from "Army of Darkness"??? :), One of my fav movies. "Klatu Verada Nicto" was the phrase Bruce Campbell was to say to get the book of the dead. Just thought it was kool.

Yeah I agree w/ you Uluhtc. This has to be one of the most used phrases in Sci-Fi. It was first used in "The Day the World Stood Still" and in Army of Darkness it was that keyphrase for the book. Also, in Return of the Jedi, 3 of the alien thug species in Jabba's Throne Room where called Klatu, Barada and Nikto =)

I went Gix sometime ago and said the key word. But nothing happened. Around level 15 at the I was too low for him to give me the rest of the info? Notice what the words say when spelled backwards? Too funny. These guys spent too many nights watching old sci-fi... or maybe Army of Darkness.

You don't even have to talk to Loveal. Just go to WC and say the [keyword] to Kizdean. I would suggest to camp the elf skellies first to get the mallet head and hilt. Then go back to 1st Lvl and Llrod, once you hand that to Llrod go down to 3rd floor, he spawns right at the entrance to the secret room, so you will get hit before you see him. But no, you don't have to do the first part of the quest.

do you have to complete the first part of the quest before trying to get the reaper? some quest allow you to skip a step but others won't. if you don't have to complete the Sir Lindeal's Quest then i would like to do this quest for a low lvl sk )

This item is worthless by the time you can get it. But it's handy to carry around in your backpack... duel an unsuspecting Pally and wait for them to break out their LOH... They will get really nervous when you pull the same stunt on them with the Reaper of the Dead. =)
