Craegin Coldtongue is on the southwest tip of the lighthouse island at location 1359, 54, 4.

You say, 'Hail, Craegin Coldtongue'

Craegin Coldtongue glances at you with eyes of energy. He peers across your armor and then finally seems to come to a decision and points to the ground. He kneels down and then begins to draw something in the dirt. You see the outline of a wolf begin to take shape. You then see a humanoid figure standing next to the animal. He draws a circle around them, presumably to show that they are connected somehow. Craegin looks up at you and points to the wolf and then at you. You think he is asking if you are a Beastlord. His gaze pierces your eyes waiting for an answer.

You say, 'I am a beastlord.'

Craegin Coldtongue nods quickly and begins to draw again in the sand. He points at the humanoid figure and then at himself. Apparently he has drawn himself. He looks up at you and you nod back in understanding. He points to the wolf and then points out onto the island. He grabs a handful of dust and blows it across the wolf's picture. Perhaps his [warder] is sick and lost on the island somewhere. He looks as if he might want to [draw] more.

You say, 'Will you draw more about your warder.'

Craegin Coldtongue nods furiously. He begins drawing again in the sand. you see some sort of spear being thrown at the wolf. He then draws a collar of some sort and then draws an arrow to the wolf. Apparently his warder has been injured and captured somehow by something on the island. You can see the pain in the barbarian's eyes as he looks at you hopefully. He hands you a small emblem of some kind and points towards the island.

You will now receive A stone emblem.

Give the stone emblem to an injured wolf: seems to be a random spawn, confirmed however at -1855, 1, 41 and -2231, -551.51, 44.8.

An injured wolf cringes as you lean forward, but visibly relaxes as it recognizes the stone in your hand. You place the stone emblem into the clasp on the collar. The collar begins to glow softly and the beast begins to look much healthier. he struggles to his feet and looks at you for a moment. He then lets out a great howl that echoes in the caverns. He moves towards you and nuzzles your hand. You reach forward and run you fingers across his head. As your fingers cross the collar, the wolf winks out of existence, leaving you holding only only the softly glowing collar.

Receive A glowing collar.

Give the glowing collar to Craegin Coldtongue.

Craegin Coldtongue looks at you in amazement as you hand the glowing collar to him. He looks as if he might weep for joy at any moment. He holds the collar firmly by the clasp and brings it down to his side. He mumbles some words and the wolf immediately appears beside him. He reaches into his bags and grabs a small stone similar to the one fit into the collar. You reach forward and take it from him. He points at the dirt once more as if he wishes to [draw] something for you.

Receive Spell: Bond of the Wild.

You say, 'What do you wish to draw for me?'

Craegin Coldtongue kneels to the ground once more and begins to draw. He draws the picture of a skull in the dirt and then draws several squiggly lines beneath. You begin to realize he's describing a cave system beneath the island.

You say, 'What is in the cave system?'

Craegin Coldtongue nods at you. He reaches for a bag at his waist and pulls out a few grains of fine black powder. He rubs the black powder carefully across the cave sketch. He makes a sort of digging motion with his hands and points back toward the island. He must have found the black powder in the cave system on the island somewhere.

Loot "A strange dark powder" from A Broken Skull Bruiser in Torgiran Mines and give this to Craegin.

Craegin Coldtongue looks over the dark powder carefully for a moment and then nods at you. He grabs a small bag from his waist and places the dust inside of it. He then takes a second bag and empties another odd powder into the bag. He closes and shakes the bag vehemently and then looks at you expectantly. You nod. He reaches into the bag and pulls a bit of the mixtures out. Unexpectedly he blows the mixture into your face, causing your eyes to burn and your lungs to uncontrollably cough in pain. You fall to the ground for a moment, but the burning subsides. You rise back to your feet and Craegin hands you the rest of the bag of powder.

You receive Spell: Malaria.

Strange Dark Powder
# Nov 15 2009 at 3:29 AM Rating: Decent
I went back to the main island. I did my turn in for the Bond of the wild, and got that spell. I then continued the dialogue for the next spell, to see if i could get my powder. I went back to the mines and my 2nd Broken Skull Bruiser I killed dropped the Strange Dark Powder I need for the 2nd spell. So I am concluding that isn't pre lootable.

I was curios if this item was pre. loot-able or not. I mean why run/swim back to the main Island, and do 1 turn in when u are so close to the next 2 zones for going, to get this powder. One things is 4 certain these mobs in the mines have a lot of hp lol. Needless to say I didn't find any of this powder after all most a hour in the mines. Going to go back and do my turn in for the first spell, and do the Dialogue and run back to see if it drops.

Did this quest today for my BL, got to the part where you turn in the collar, and then type:

"You say, 'What do you wish for me to draw for me?"

nothing happened, tried several variations as it appeared to be a typo of some kind, "wish for me to draw for me"?

Nothing.

So I re-hailed him and went on to the next step..

You say, 'What is in the cave system?'

Got the script for the next part of the spell quest, so if you get hung up there, try that, it worked for me.

******
Just did this quest again for a guild mate, they have fixed the typo, but also she just said "draw" and not the whole text, and it worked for her.

probably because it's a misprint or whatever on this page, you should be saying, "what do you wish to draw for me?"

not "for me to draw for me" -- that makes no sense ;p

I'm thinking the cords are off a touch the hut area Guild mates specify
isnt the lugald subverter camp and the waterfront of the subverterds camp you cant reach.

however
P +1855, 1, 41, 21, 255, 0, 2, injured wolf (possible A )(Bst Spell quest))

P +2231, 551, 45, 255, 0, 0, 2, injured wolf-B(BST spell qst)

might work since its the closer camp to the beach

and coils would be valid

plus 1855 is in the pirate camp close to the beach

the minus is well seemingly invalid I'm just hoping to get a more concrete and confirmed spotting with accual ingame map pont to the tea of were found .

anyhow more spawn locations from beastery added

if you add these to the layer 2 on map with note pad tada , these were cut out from my Layer 2 were I added them with Mappie_1.5.8 nicety is one can see the map
I added the points to the map also shows cut them into layer 2 map in eq folder
unfortunately only deals with single combined layer 1 or main maps.
however got me the correct the syntax to add the the layer 2 maps

My Guidies and I have had some issue with popping it seams were in wrong area any how hears the map coils you can add to put it to map cords seem a tadd off but oh
well anyhow

anyhow this is in EQ Map Speek in A format were it will PEG. anyhow after adding it in with note pad to layer 2 or 3 because Gunthak_2 is just map points

Anyhow for safety you can also Add it to Gunthak_3 since by default it compleatly empty 0 bytes just dont add it while in zone.

By defualt Layer 3 tends to be user Add ons .

If you are lvl 45-50 bst solo, this will be harder to accomplish for finding the wolf since you have to slay many to get him to spawn. SO, to simplify, just use invis and check the fort area and huts every day or so when your on. People will kill the guys for you, you just have to wait for the wolf to spawn. I spent a few days killing what I could and later gave up. I came back a few weeks later, today actually, and used invis and found him at loc -2231, -551.51, 44.84... which is the same as another loc posted below, just a bit off by about 2 feet on my part. I asked allah to put this as a confirmed 2nd location. Also, he conned red so I doubt anyone hunting there would try to kill him, but he does de-spawn after handing the stone to him and receiving the collar.

If your doing the strange dust part also, go thru Gulf of Gunthak to the mines, there is a bruiser at that zone-in that people say drops the powder more frequently in a few posts I've seen . Lucky me, I got it first kill, but it took me a long time to kill him (til I figured out I needed KEI and Virtue at lvl 48 to kill him). I had to let another bruiser who aggroed pound on me while he was running after getting below 20% to kill him, and I then looted the powder and zoned since I could not kill another at my hp and mana status.

So yes, I also believe the powder would be more frequent of a drop at the gulf of gunthak zone in, where the drop seems to favor the first bruiser. If he doesn't drop it, kill the second and then come back to him when he respawns. I doubt you need to spend 4 days elsewhere trying to get it. Hope this helped, tah tah!

PS: Malaria spell is lvl 40, and Bond of Wild is lvl 52, as of (10/18/07). Other sites listed different lvl's when I checked.

Of all the quests I’ve done…this is about the easiest. After running around the fort 2-3 times invised, I needed a tracker to find the wolf. I just happened to find the wolf in the third hut on left. He was hard to see and without the tracker I’d have never found him. I’ve run through there with Ranger to do key quest in the mine (BTW-the key quest in the mines is worth the trouble and effort. Bring a full party!) and checked tracking (just for the fun of it…) and the wolf has been there every time in the same third hut on left.

The hardest part was getting the “a strange dark powder” to drop. I must have killed 2-3 dozen “a Broken Skull bruiser”. VERY random and just a matter of luck.

Hope this helps

# Jan 17 2007 at 2:12 PM Rating: Decent
I just did the first part of the quest and found the injured Wolf at neg 1992, neg 621. My first try, no wolf to be found anywhere. Killed about everything around the fort, no luck on the pops. Next night I brought my BL on with a druid to track. He was in back where there is a bottle, one marauder and the wolf. Kill the mobs nearby, do the turn in and back for the spell.

The spell also adds to your AC (I'll have to check what it does specifically). Just like the spell says, you're bonding with your warder, so he gets something from the spell and you get something too.

Well I realized tonight that the Injured dog can pop probably many different buildings. I started out by camping for several hours the ones that were listed in the many posts, only to have it pop somewhere completly different. So after about 6 hours of waiting for the injured dog to pop I decided to bring my ranger over. What I found was that the dog was up but on the other side of the area. It had probably been up for hours and i didnt know it. So make sure you check the entire area while invis and make sure its not up before you start camping a area.

I was so frustrated today as a result of this quest and archaic machinery. I work at a 24/7 help desk and work Sundays. There is little to no call volume on Sundays so I play EQ to kill the time. I have two accounts, one with my main 70 SK and one with the level 45 BST alt. The Plan: Farm the powder for Malaria with the SK then log the zone camped BST in when it drops to loot it. After four hours the powder drops. I log off the SK and log in the beastlord. The computer I play on at work is 600MHZ so is slow as hell. Its grinding and grinding away, slow slow slow and by the time I log in with the beast lord the corpse rotted! It a good thing I have self control, otherwise I would soon have a video posted on the net of yet another disgruntled employee beating the **** out of their computer at work!

After being in a group in the mines for about an hour and a half I looted 1 Strange Dark Powder. I got some descent exp. and made some new friends.
[li][/li]

After we all went our way, I went to Craegin Coldtongue on the SW end of the lighthouse island. I went thru the script as shown above. I got the Malaria spell, which is a nice <disease> upgrade from the level 14 spell <sicken>. I invised got the stone from him and went to the spot listed above for the Injured Wolf, and there he was. I got the collar and then the spell. I'm not 52 yet, but I have to assume that the "Bond of the Wild" is nicer to have just so I don't have to re-cast haste on my pet every 15 min.

Usually I have to wait hours and hours, then kill everything and its sister to get a mob to spawn, but I was fortunate tody Smiley: yippee

Confirming -1850/1
# Nov 28 2004 at 12:53 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, Just a note to confirm the location of the wolf pop at -1850/1. 50 Bst, brought a 43 Rng in for track. Sat and killed the laying down mob 5 times, No luck. Got sick of waiting, and started killing everything from the laying down mob (North Center) to the hut just beyond -1850/1. After Second Pass of nuke'em'all, Wolf popped. Invis is nice until it fades while you are peering into 3 mobs... :)

Used Sha's Legarthy to pull mobs. VERY long range, line of sight NOT required (IE, while invis, run around front, target mob, then go back to "Safe" area, cast, and they come to you). I had NO adds from this method. Your results may differ.

# Oct 27 2004 at 3:29 PM Rating: Decent
Found the wolf on the north side of the fort (first left after entering the tunnels from Gunthak POK stone) in one of the houses. In total, I spent about an hour looking for the wolf.

Here's what I did:
I started working my way north, killing all mobs that I saw. After about 15 kills or so, I ended up getting a few adds so I pulled train to the nadox zone. After resting up, I cast invis and zoned back into gunthak to check my handy work. Sure enough, an injured wolf had was in one of the huts!!

I've talked with a few other BST's on my server, none seemed to have the good luck that I did. Perhaps I found it so quickly because I zoned?

I also found him at this loc (neg 1992, neg 621).This location is along the east side of the fort. There is a bottle standing on the groud with two mobs beside it. A gnome plunderer is laying down in the hut just beside. Just killed the PH once and when I came around an hour later injured wolf was up.

I very confused about claims that he pops at neg1855,1. That location is near the entrance where the tunnel opens up into the fort. I have camped that area for many, many hours doing quests in this zone and I have never once seen that mob there. Never, ever. I have however seen the injured wolf at this location before and previously assisted my son get the spell at this loc.

Did both today
# May 28 2004 at 10:26 AM Rating: Good
Ok, I did both of these spells today for the third time. The first two were for guildmates.

The fastest way to get the wolf to spawn is to have your group empty out a few of the huts to the left of the entrance to the fort area in Gunthak before your beastlord has the conversation with the Craegin Coldtongue at the lighthouse. The conversation triggers the spawn and if there are already open spawn positions, the wolf just pops into one of them. We did this and by the time I was able to run my beastlord back to the group, the wolf was already there waiting for me to hand him the stone emblem.

Regarding the bruisers:
We zoned in from Dulak. Then, we just ran a pattern partway into the mines that covered the first 5 or so bruiser spawn locations killing everything along the way.

The easiest/fastest way to do this is to bring a high-level enchanter with Dire Charm. Have him charm, then cast nights dark terror, and speed of vallon on it and set it loose on everything in your path after slowing them. Having damage shield on the pet speeds up the process and increases his aggro generation. Throw on an occasional heal and they drop like flies. We got the dark powder after about a 15 bruiser kills.

One additional tip: Pacify and avoid Crazed Miners. They are a waste of time and mana. They have insane regeneration rates, incredible amounts of HP, and they drop nothing. They aren't even great exp. Really sad.

Hope this helps.

I cleared out about a dozen huts to the left of the entrance to the area, did the conversation, and the wolf did not spawn. This quest is a pain in the ***.

A very backwards quest.

Torgiran at lev 44 is quite a challenge, compared to Gunthak. Anyhow, at level 54 the quest took me about 6 hours to complete.

Found the wolf in the hut (loc described in other posts) left coming from tunnel. Cleared various areas around the fort 3 times over 2 hours before he popped.

The second part of the quest was quite a pain, and I wonder if it was worth it at this level (the reward that is). Had to kill 37 of the bruisers to get the powder - like 3.5 hours.
