Craegin Coldtongue is on the southwest tip of the lighthouse island at location 1359, 54, 4.

You say, 'Hail, Craegin Coldtongue'

Craegin Coldtongue glances at you with eyes of energy. He peers across your armor and then finally seems to come to a decision and points to the ground. He kneels down and then begins to draw something in the dirt. You see the outline of a wolf begin to take shape. You then see a humanoid figure standing next to the animal. He draws a circle around them, presumably to show that they are connected somehow. Craegin looks up at you and points to the wolf and then at you. You think he is asking if you are a Beastlord. His gaze pierces your eyes waiting for an answer.

You say, 'I am a beastlord.'

Craegin Coldtongue nods quickly and begins to draw again in the sand. He points at the humanoid figure and then at himself. Apparently he has drawn himself. He looks up at you and you nod back in understanding. He points to the wolf and then points out onto the island. He grabs a handful of dust and blows it across the wolf's picture. Perhaps his [warder] is sick and lost on the island somewhere. He looks as if he might want to [draw] more.

You say, 'Will you draw more about your warder.'

Craegin Coldtongue nods furiously. He begins drawing again in the sand. you see some sort of spear being thrown at the wolf. He then draws a collar of some sort and then draws an arrow to the wolf. Apparently his warder has been injured and captured somehow by something on the island. You can see the pain in the barbarian's eyes as he looks at you hopefully. He hands you a small emblem of some kind and points towards the island.

You will now receive A stone emblem.

Give the stone emblem to an injured wolf: seems to be a random spawn, confirmed however at -1855, 1, 41 and -2231, -551.51, 44.8.

An injured wolf cringes as you lean forward, but visibly relaxes as it recognizes the stone in your hand. You place the stone emblem into the clasp on the collar. The collar begins to glow softly and the beast begins to look much healthier. he struggles to his feet and looks at you for a moment. He then lets out a great howl that echoes in the caverns. He moves towards you and nuzzles your hand. You reach forward and run you fingers across his head. As your fingers cross the collar, the wolf winks out of existence, leaving you holding only only the softly glowing collar.

Receive A glowing collar.

Give the glowing collar to Craegin Coldtongue.

Craegin Coldtongue looks at you in amazement as you hand the glowing collar to him. He looks as if he might weep for joy at any moment. He holds the collar firmly by the clasp and brings it down to his side. He mumbles some words and the wolf immediately appears beside him. He reaches into his bags and grabs a small stone similar to the one fit into the collar. You reach forward and take it from him. He points at the dirt once more as if he wishes to [draw] something for you.

Receive Spell: Bond of the Wild.

You say, 'What do you wish to draw for me?'

Craegin Coldtongue kneels to the ground once more and begins to draw. He draws the picture of a skull in the dirt and then draws several squiggly lines beneath. You begin to realize he's describing a cave system beneath the island.

You say, 'What is in the cave system?'

Craegin Coldtongue nods at you. He reaches for a bag at his waist and pulls out a few grains of fine black powder. He rubs the black powder carefully across the cave sketch. He makes a sort of digging motion with his hands and points back toward the island. He must have found the black powder in the cave system on the island somewhere.

Loot "A strange dark powder" from A Broken Skull Bruiser in Torgiran Mines and give this to Craegin.

Craegin Coldtongue looks over the dark powder carefully for a moment and then nods at you. He grabs a small bag from his waist and places the dust inside of it. He then takes a second bag and empties another odd powder into the bag. He closes and shakes the bag vehemently and then looks at you expectantly. You nod. He reaches into the bag and pulls a bit of the mixtures out. Unexpectedly he blows the mixture into your face, causing your eyes to burn and your lungs to uncontrollably cough in pain. You fall to the ground for a moment, but the burning subsides. You rise back to your feet and Craegin hands you the rest of the bag of powder.

You receive Spell: Malaria.

Strange Dark Powder

I went back to the main island. I did my turn in for the Bond of the wild, and got that spell. I then continued the dialogue for the next spell, to see if i could get my powder. I went back to the mines and my 2nd Broken Skull Bruiser I killed dropped the Strange Dark Powder I need for the 2nd spell. So I am concluding that isn't pre lootable.

I was curios if this item was pre. loot-able or not. I mean why run/swim back to the main Island, and do 1 turn in when u are so close to the next 2 zones for going, to get this powder. One things is 4 certain these mobs in the mines have a lot of hp lol. Needless to say I didn't find any of this powder after all most a hour in the mines. Going to go back and do my turn in for the first spell, and do the Dialogue and run back to see if it drops.

Did this quest today for my BL, got to the part where you turn in the collar, and then type:

"You say, 'What do you wish for me to draw for me?"

nothing happened, tried several variations as it appeared to be a typo of some kind, "wish for me to draw for me"?

So I re-hailed him and went on to the next step..

You say, 'What is in the cave system?'

Got the script for the next part of the spell quest, so if you get hung up there, try that, it worked for me.

Just did this quest again for a guild mate, they have fixed the typo, but also she just said "draw" and not the whole text, and it worked for her.

probably because it's a misprint or whatever on this page, you should be saying, "what do you wish to draw for me?"

not "for me to draw for me" -- that makes no sense ;p

I'm thinking the cords are off a touch the hut area Guild mates specify
isnt the lugald subverter camp and the waterfront of the subverterds camp you cant reach.

P +2231, 551, 45, 255, 0, 0, 2, injured wolf-B(BST spell qst)

might work since its the closer camp to the beach

and coils would be valid

plus 1855 is in the pirate camp close to the beach

the minus is well seemingly invalid I'm just hoping to get a more concrete and confirmed spotting with accual ingame map pont to the tea of were found .

if you add these to the layer 2 on map with note pad tada , these were cut out from my Layer 2 were I added them with Mappie_1.5.8 nicety is one can see the map
I added the points to the map also shows cut them into layer 2 map in eq folder
unfortunately only deals with single combined layer 1 or main maps.
however got me the correct the syntax to add the the layer 2 maps

My Guidies and I have had some issue with popping it seams were in wrong area any how hears the map coils you can add to put it to map cords seem a tadd off but oh
well anyhow

anyhow this is in EQ Map Speek in A format were it will PEG. anyhow after adding it in with note pad to layer 2 or 3 because Gunthak_2 is just map points

Anyhow for safety you can also Add it to Gunthak_3 since by default it compleatly empty 0 bytes just dont add it while in zone.

By defualt Layer 3 tends to be user Add ons .

If you are lvl 45-50 bst solo, this will be harder to accomplish for finding the wolf since you have to slay many to get him to spawn. SO, to simplify, just use invis and check the fort area and huts every day or so when your on. People will kill the guys for you, you just have to wait for the wolf to spawn. I spent a few days killing what I could and later gave up. I came back a few weeks later, today actually, and used invis and found him at loc -2231, -551.51, 44.84... which is the same as another loc posted below, just a bit off by about 2 feet on my part. I asked allah to put this as a confirmed 2nd location. Also, he conned red so I doubt anyone hunting there would try to kill him, but he does de-spawn after handing the stone to him and receiving the collar.

If your doing the strange dust part also, go thru Gulf of Gunthak to the mines, there is a bruiser at that zone-in that people say drops the powder more frequently in a few posts I've seen . Lucky me, I got it first kill, but it took me a long time to kill him (til I figured out I needed KEI and Virtue at lvl 48 to kill him). I had to let another bruiser who aggroed pound on me while he was running after getting below 20% to kill him, and I then looted the powder and zoned since I could not kill another at my hp and mana status.

So yes, I also believe the powder would be more frequent of a drop at the gulf of gunthak zone in, where the drop seems to favor the first bruiser. If he doesn't drop it, kill the second and then come back to him when he respawns. I doubt you need to spend 4 days elsewhere trying to get it. Hope this helped, tah tah!

PS: Malaria spell is lvl 40, and Bond of Wild is lvl 52, as of (10/18/07). Other sites listed different lvl's when I checked.

Of all the quests I’ve done…this is about the easiest. After running around the fort 2-3 times invised, I needed a tracker to find the wolf. I just happened to find the wolf in the third hut on left. He was hard to see and without the tracker I’d have never found him. I’ve run through there with Ranger to do key quest in the mine (BTW-the key quest in the mines is worth the trouble and effort. Bring a full party!) and checked tracking (just for the fun of it…) and the wolf has been there every time in the same third hut on left.

The hardest part was getting the “a strange dark powder” to drop. I must have killed 2-3 dozen “a Broken Skull bruiser”. VERY random and just a matter of luck.

Hope this helps

I just did the first part of the quest and found the injured Wolf at neg 1992, neg 621. My first try, no wolf to be found anywhere. Killed about everything around the fort, no luck on the pops. Next night I brought my BL on with a druid to track. He was in back where there is a bottle, one marauder and the wolf. Kill the mobs nearby, do the turn in and back for the spell.

The spell also adds to your AC (I'll have to check what it does specifically). Just like the spell says, you're bonding with your warder, so he gets something from the spell and you get something too.

Well I realized tonight that the Injured dog can pop probably many different buildings. I started out by camping for several hours the ones that were listed in the many posts, only to have it pop somewhere completly different. So after about 6 hours of waiting for the injured dog to pop I decided to bring my ranger over. What I found was that the dog was up but on the other side of the area. It had probably been up for hours and i didnt know it. So make sure you check the entire area while invis and make sure its not up before you start camping a area.

I was so frustrated today as a result of this quest and archaic machinery. I work at a 24/7 help desk and work Sundays. There is little to no call volume on Sundays so I play EQ to kill the time. I have two accounts, one with my main 70 SK and one with the level 45 BST alt. The Plan: Farm the powder for Malaria with the SK then log the zone camped BST in when it drops to loot it. After four hours the powder drops. I log off the SK and log in the beastlord. The computer I play on at work is 600MHZ so is slow as ****. Its grinding and grinding away, slow slow slow and by the time I log in with the beast lord the corpse rotted! It a good thing I have self control, otherwise I would soon have a video posted on the net of yet another disgruntled employee beating the **** out of their computer at work!

After being in a group in the mines for about an hour and a half I looted 1 Strange Dark Powder. I got some descent exp. and made some new friends.

After we all went our way, I went to Craegin Coldtongue on the SW end of the lighthouse island. I went thru the script as shown above. I got the Malaria spell, which is a nice <disease> upgrade from the level 14 spell <sicken>. I invised got the stone from him and went to the spot listed above for the Injured Wolf, and there he was. I got the collar and then the spell. I'm not 52 yet, but I have to assume that the "Bond of the Wild" is nicer to have just so I don't have to re-cast haste on my pet every 15 min.

Usually I have to wait hours and hours, then kill everything and its sister to get a mob to spawn, but I was fortunate tody Smiley: yippee

Confirming -1850/1
# Nov 28 2004 at 12:53 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, Just a note to confirm the location of the wolf pop at -1850/1. 50 Bst, brought a 43 Rng in for track. Sat and killed the laying down mob 5 times, No luck. Got sick of waiting, and started killing everything from the laying down mob (North Center) to the hut just beyond -1850/1. After Second Pass of nuke'em'all, Wolf popped. Invis is nice until it fades while you are peering into 3 mobs... :)

Used Sha's Legarthy to pull mobs. VERY long range, line of sight NOT required (IE, while invis, run around front, target mob, then go back to "Safe" area, cast, and they come to you). I had NO adds from this method. Your results may differ.

Found the wolf on the north side of the fort (first left after entering the tunnels from Gunthak POK stone) in one of the houses. In total, I spent about an hour looking for the wolf.

Here's what I did:
I started working my way north, killing all mobs that I saw. After about 15 kills or so, I ended up getting a few adds so I pulled train to the nadox zone. After resting up, I cast invis and zoned back into gunthak to check my handy work. Sure enough, an injured wolf had was in one of the huts!!

I've talked with a few other BST's on my server, none seemed to have the good luck that I did. Perhaps I found it so quickly because I zoned?

I also found him at this loc (neg 1992, neg 621).This location is along the east side of the fort. There is a bottle standing on the groud with two mobs beside it. A gnome plunderer is laying down in the hut just beside. Just killed the PH once and when I came around an hour later injured wolf was up.

I very confused about claims that he pops at neg1855,1. That location is near the entrance where the tunnel opens up into the fort. I have camped that area for many, many hours doing quests in this zone and I have never once seen that mob there. Never, ever. I have however seen the injured wolf at this location before and previously assisted my son get the spell at this loc.

Did both today

Ok, I did both of these spells today for the third time. The first two were for guildmates.

The fastest way to get the wolf to spawn is to have your group empty out a few of the huts to the left of the entrance to the fort area in Gunthak before your beastlord has the conversation with the Craegin Coldtongue at the lighthouse. The conversation triggers the spawn and if there are already open spawn positions, the wolf just pops into one of them. We did this and by the time I was able to run my beastlord back to the group, the wolf was already there waiting for me to hand him the stone emblem.

Regarding the bruisers:
We zoned in from Dulak. Then, we just ran a pattern partway into the mines that covered the first 5 or so bruiser spawn locations killing everything along the way.

The easiest/fastest way to do this is to bring a high-level enchanter with Dire Charm. Have him charm, then cast nights dark terror, and speed of vallon on it and set it loose on everything in your path after slowing them. Having damage shield on the pet speeds up the process and increases his aggro generation. Throw on an occasional heal and they drop like flies. We got the dark powder after about a 15 bruiser kills.

One additional tip: Pacify and avoid Crazed Miners. They are a waste of time and mana. They have insane regeneration rates, incredible amounts of HP, and they drop nothing. They aren't even great exp. Really sad.

Hope this helps.

A very backwards quest.

Torgiran at lev 44 is quite a challenge, compared to Gunthak. Anyhow, at level 54 the quest took me about 6 hours to complete.

Found the wolf in the hut (loc described in other posts) left coming from tunnel. Cleared various areas around the fort 3 times over 2 hours before he popped.

The second part of the quest was quite a pain, and I wonder if it was worth it at this level (the reward that is). Had to kill 37 of the bruisers to get the powder - like 3.5 hours.

Bah! I wish I knew that I could get Malaria w/o dealing w/ the injured wolf. Got the dark powder while soloing in Torg. mines, started the quest and found the injured wolf uncamped. Oh well, got the Bond of the Wild spell, but it's useless for me at lvl 57, that's ok though, it's nice to have a higher level disease dot to help thru the next couple of levels.

I just completed the first half (getting the collar). It took 8 hours of steady killing for the injured wolf to pop. A 50 BST, backed up by a 50 cleric, so quite a lot of dead mobs (if somewhat light xp). He spawned in the far left hut wrt zone-in as reported in earlier posts. I'm unconvinced that the spawn point is entirely random (many others gave this location), although there may be multiple PHs. Anyway, keep killing (including clearing this end hut), and you'll eventually find you wolf. The quest story is really quite touching (I'm still a little misty-eyed).

Now it's time to hit Torgiran for the second half.
Stick with it!

Don't bother. Not unless you have at least 2 other people backing you up. Even then it'll be iffy... You'd at least need 1 good cleric with some large mana pool and good regen.

Tried this with a 44th bsty and a 41st Druid. Best I could do is get a yellow Bruiser down to 42% before zoneing into Dulak. Great 44th lvl spell, but not gonna happen....

I went to the town (first left in caves) as a 45 beast with a 43 mage buddy and worked the town for some good xp and to find the wolf. We hung there for a couple of levels and saw him spawn several times, multiple times in one of two huts. The first hut just a couple to the right of the entrance to town and the other being about 4 huts to the left right on the left wall. Handed him stone and got collar for turn in to get lvl 52 no drop beast spell.

Our camp was just at the edge of town, outside of agro range from the plants and baddies in the huts. Will get the occassional wandering broken skull mystic (can be tough) or broken skull guard so watch for them as wandering adds. Huts will contain 1 or 2 mobs and the second will usually agro when pulling the first. Mobs also run (and fast) when low health. Be prepared to root/snare or drop the big nuke when the time comes. Learned this one the hard way. Once you get the system down it is a great camp.

Occasionally the trolls would drop a troll pirate head, 3 of which are used for a turn in for a very nice no drop ring for evil melee types (even Beastlords!) in Neriak. Highly recommend doing this quest too while you are here. My mage buddy brought over his 36 inky SK and camped him to loot heads. This cannot be MQ's though as it requires combining heads in a sack and turning in the combined sack. Great ring, particularly for this level.

When I hit 47 an he hit 45 (had new pet) we went to Torgiran (camp the entrance) to see if we could get the strange black powder for the Malaria spell quest. Getting to Torgiran is easy with invis but wouldn't try without it. :-) Anyway, we sure had our hands full there. We killed and lived but it was too tough a fight for us to kill fast enough.

I came back with my 61 monk and started working the place. Don't think I got the powder until my 30th kill of a bruiser (much worse than I expected based on previous posts.) Also got a Grobb Hide Cowl ( in the process which is a SWEET beastlord cap although ugly as heck (but I'm a troll and not a slave to fashion!)

While killing the bruisers, they drop keys which can then be turned into the Resistance Miners (will con dubious unlike the others which are KoS.) You can turn in up to four keys at once and get decent xp. The keys are droppable so my monk would harvest and then drop them in a sack for my beast to log in and pick up (I don't dual box) and do the turn in. XP for turn in was good and hey, you're there anyway may as well make the best of it.

One bruiser will walk back and forth, stopping at both ends of the hallway after the first bend left. Clear the miner at the first bend left first as it will add unless it is a resistance miner. Another bruiser wanders to a spot where you can make your first right (still very close to camp.) I would kill the miners to the left and right to get resistance miners to spawn for key turn-in (can spawn in place of any other miners.) By time I cleared them the next round of bruisers would pop so the action was good.

Note: Bruisers and miners will flee when below 20% and will path to the right hallway so make sure you focus on keeping that area free of miners or you may get adds as you chase them down. If you or your group has root/snare, all the better. I did not.

Another quest you can do, while you're at it, is collecting the pristine ore samples (no drop.) Turn them in to the Metallurgist in Steamfont just SW of the PoK zone in (was indiff to me as Iksar.) You'll get a 5 shot potion that has an effect of 125 points of magic damage absorbtion. Not all that hot and no xp but took two minutes to do the turn in.

All and all a good quest and fun camp although it is a shame you have to hit a zone as high as Torgiran to get a 44th level spell. Really could have been done with a full group in that level range but, if you know LoY, your going to have to bring your own group.

Hope that helps and best of luck! Malaria is worth the trouble to get.

I decided to try and get this spell today. Using the information available, I got to the hut area, turned left and started killing. If you're going to solo (I'm 52), be sure to tread lightly the farther back you go. A couple times I pulled 3 just by getting too close and with the backspawn it was time to head for zone. The one time I didn't have lev up, I managed to die to a pretty impressive train in the water.

After a pretty frustrating 3+ hours with no wolf, he finally spawned in the hut at neg 1480 neg 50. Could have just been coincidence, as I'm sure he can pop anywhere. I did manage to come away with around 500pp in gems and loot for the camp, so it's not a complete waste of time. Experience wise at 52, it's a bust, so come earlier if you want to get experience as well.

Sense animal does not work.. however if you can invis you can safety run around the fort area (only mons on beach see invis) looking for the wolf. I found him at the back wall. Once you find him drop invis attack what ever he is next to , hand wolf the stone and then invis back up to get out of there. (it is also a good idea to levitate in cause you cause a train while running back to the boat).

Was very easy for a 52 Beastlord.

was wondering if you could use sense animals to target an injured wolf or no because it is a pet?

The wolf poped in the hut with the laying down NPC for me. Location was -1455.65, -236.15, 44.38. I killed the NPC 2 times then the wolf poped.

"an injured wolf" appears to spawn anywhere =P I did not find him in a hut, I did not find him anywhere at those locs. He was at some firepit, in that same sort of slums area that begins at the described loc. So just dump your mana bar to cast one invis (i love divination!) and run around to find him. Make sure there is no one fighting nearby, because unless you clean out the area you aggro things easily (even at 51.) Zone was empty, I just trained to Dulak after hand-in.
Once again, do not waste your time hoping for a magical-hut-camp spot, unless he's not up, then I assume just kill everything in a glorious massacre. =P Might as well bring a cleric along to get pureblood and temperance quest pieces from the mowage, I ran across both...

I saw the wolf up this morning in the 2nd hut to the right as you come in. So he doesn't just spawn at (neg)1480, (neg)50. So don't just camp that spawn. He was in one of the huts with two spawn points so make sure you take those out as well.

I went down to Torigan mines with a necro friend to get the strange black powder. I was lvl 49 and he was 50. I was expecting it to be tough so I got me a KEI and we were on our way. On the first pull we got an add, and we just came out on top of the fight. So we medd up and next fight get 2 pulled again. This goes on for a while, every now and then we get singles, other times we get two. Just as we are about to give up, a 56 cleric steps into zone and asks if he can join us. Sure thing, he has pacify and can singlepull. So we invite him and start to chainpull. Good XP starts rolling in and 5-6 Brokenskull Bruisers later the Strange Black Powder drops. When I do the hand in, I almost get 1 yellow bub of XP as well :)
My tip: bring a tracker.

Me as a 44 beastlord accompanied by my 45 necro friend, went down to the fort in Gunthak to find the Injured wolf. We had no trouble at all to kill all the mobs, made decent XP and loot was allright. But the problem was we didn't spot the wolf anywhere. So after my friend had to log out, I logged on my druid and tracked the wolf. Marked the spot, used an inviss potion and took my beastlord there and did the turn-in. This did not break inviss, so I could happily run back to safety and get my Bond of the wild spell :) Now for the harder part of getting the spell: Malaria

I can verify that the injured wolf pops in a hut at about (neg)1480, (neg)50. To get to this hut, turn left when you come out of the mouth of the tunnel and stick to the wall. As soon as you come to a large stone, turn 90 degrees to the right, and the hut should be in front of you and to the right a bit. The opening of the hut is on the north side (you should be looking at it), and you should be facing due south.

I spent one day there for four hours killing all the pops in the hut (and virtually nothing else), and did not spawn the injured wolf.

The day that I did get it, I killed one spawn in the hut and a bunch of other things in the general vicinity (I was trying to get Gunthak Water to drop for a cleric friend). The very next pop in the hut was the injured wolf. I have no idea if killing the other things in the area had any effect, although I would tend to doubt it.

While there on the first day, two separate people with tracking skill told me that friends of theirs had found the wolf in the hut I am talking about, so I think it is pretty safe to just sit there and try to make him pop.

Good luck to you all.

I forgot to say in my previous message that the turn in of the collar to Craegin Coldtongue got me about 2% of a level (half a blue or so) at level 53. I also happened to have the powder on me, and I turned that in for my Malaria scroll and another 5% of a level. All told, I received about 1.5 - 2 blues from both turn-ins at level 53.

The text bellow follows after you give Craegin the 'strange dark powder'.

You gain experience!

You nod. He reaches into the bag and pulls a bit of the mixture out. Unexpectedly he blows the mixture into your face, causing your eyes to burn and your lungs to uncontrollably cough in pain. You fall to the ground for a moment, but the burning subsides. You rise back to your feet and Craegin hands you the rest of the bag of powder.

Yes he gives you the level 44 Malaria spell, which is no drop. I also got a nice bit of xp at 53, almost 2 blues.

As for the rumor on this spell having a cool graphic, it is the same look as the level 15 Sicken spell since they changed the spell animations a few months ago. No big deal, but an improvement on some spells like the stinging swarm line.

Completed the quest this past week. It is not a terribly difficult quest, but can be challenging (died twice lol). First, head south from the dock to a beach area. Get invis up (get invis to undead too, if you can). Take a Right hand lead to the wall and follow to cave entrance. Continue thru w/ right hand lead (no left hand turns - until you come to a cavern) be VERY careful of the undead. When you getto the Cavern go to left and will find a hut w/ wolf in it. Good Luck. Also, Bring some friends (a necro or SK - to find corpse & cleric for Rez. hehe) Remember to keep Invis. up when traveling & STAy AWAY FROM UNDEAD!!! They Hurt lol! Now to get the Level 44 spell Malaria - should be reversed.

Well, poo, there I was all mindin my druidly business killin off some annoying trolls and such when I get to checkin track and would ya believe it? An injured wolf? Naturally, a druid has a strong connection to wolves, Tunare knows we spend half our lives in wolf form, combing the wilds as druids do, so I had to check this out. Brought a tear to my eye to see the poor thing so abused, so I did what any good druid would do and checked the dusty old websites of knowledge, to see if perhaps some other wanderer had come across this type of thing before. So, here I am. And it's a beastlord quest? WTF! What do beastlords have to do with wolves? Druids, they are like brothers to the wolves. Rangers even. Shamen summon spirit wolves as pets. Beastlords? What beastlord has a wolf pet? What beastlord has any connection to wolves at all? Hmph. Stoopid VI!

Haha yeah... i can't believe there's still someone out there who hasn't seen all the pets... I thought when luclin came out everyone started a beastlord, even if for only a day or two... even the 'Spirit of Sharik' and better summon warder spells show a wolf... heh I have a vah shir beastlord and I thought I was going to summon a wolf because of the spell immage... but cats are okay too =)

Uh, dude, first of all, chill out. Secondly, Barbarian Bestlords summon wolves. If you don't know that, you haven't been playing the game for very long. Also, the person giving the quest is a Barbarian, so, naturally, his summoned pet would be a wolf. Next time, do your homework, and you won't sound so ignorant.
# May 26 2003 at 5:56 AM Rating: Decent
Yeah also Iksar beastlords summon Wolf pets as well, and if you were to do some reading behind it you would know that BL's are a hybrid of the shamanistic class. And not to sound too rude, but surely the class name gives you one huge hint?!?!? Lord of Beasts!!! what you expect us to hand into? a bloody biscuit barrel?

So as to clear some things up the lvl 44 spell Malaria is aquired by getting a black dust or black powder...can't remember what it's called exactly off of common mobs in the Togiran Mines. Turn that in by iteslf to the same NPC that you receive the Bond of the Wild spell from to receive it.

Well, I completed this quest last night, and it is indeed the lvl 52 spell that we receive for this. Hopefully this will be resolved soon, but for now I guess it's off to Togrian to get some black dust.

Good luck to anyone trying to get their Malaise spell anywhere near lvl 44. It's going to be a fight at that level.

I'm still wondering about the order of these quests. This quest may well result in the lvl 44 spell rather than Bond of the Wild (lvl 52).

I did speak to Coldtongue on 3/3/03, and received the stone emblem. So it appears that this portion of the quest has the details correct. I will update with the reward once I have handed the emblem to the wolf, and let you know if the reward is correct.
