You say, 'Hail, Yun Master Arglug'

Yun Master Arglug says 'Welcome back, young Yun. I hope your training is going well. Unfortunately, I have been unable to keep up to date on your progress, but should you need advanced training in any individual skills, I am here to help you with that. As well, I am here to help guide you through your growth as a Shaman in the Guktan Army. The spirits will also be your guide, and with the skills that you learn here, you will be better equipped to serve the Army. If you plan on following the path of a [Shaman], I have some tasks for you to complete, if it suits your interest.'

You say, 'I am a Shaman.'

Yun Master Arglug says 'I thought as much. I am glad that you have chosen to become a Shaman. Let's get started on your training. I will give you a list of items that you will need to collect, as well as a magical assembly kit in which to combine these items. Once you have successfully combined the items, it will create a material that you will use to craft a suit of armor that will protect you from the dangers of the training grounds. If you are ready to begin your task, I will give you the assembly kit and instructions for collecting the items required to craft your armor. Are you ready to receive your [assembly kit]?'

You say, 'I am ready to receive my assembly kit.'

Yun Master Arglug says 'Excellent, then it is time that we get started. Here is the assembly kit used to combine the different items required to craft your own Yun Initiate's Armor. Each piece of armor will require different items to craft. These items will be available from both our outpost, as well as the training grounds near here. When you are ready to receive a recipe for a specific material, simply tell me which armor piece you [wish to craft]. I hold the recipes for Yun Initiate's [Helms], [Bracers], [Boots], [Armguards], [Legplates], [Gloves] and [Breastplates]. Keep in mind that the items required to make some of the larger pieces of armor will be a bit more difficult to get. You may want to wait until you are more experienced before attempting to obtain the components.

You say, 'I wish to craft Armguards.'

Yun Master Arglug says 'Armguards are one of the pieces of armor that no froglok should be without! They offer protection for the arms, and some for the shoulders, as well. A good thing if a block goes awry! To create the material needed to craft your armplates, you will need to gather two chunks of mosquito meat, a large fungal spore, and a giant snake fang, and combine them in your assembly kit. Once you have the correct material, you will need to forge the items together, along with this mold, to craft your Armplates of the Yun Initiate.'

In the new Gukta in Rathe, I found you have to go talk to the chain armor merchant (Zok Caropni), who will then send you to the general store (Zok Zribb), and then to the alchemists (Zok Ruppeta), the bakers (Zok Vroog), brewers (Zok Lillis), Fletchers (zok moic), Jewelers (Zok Prolo), Tailors (Zok Lubump), Potters (Zok Giisip), smiths (Zok Gorble)... Then go back to Zok Caropni, who will then send you to an elder, and then to the Quartermaster/Commander.. who I can't find the commander for the life of me.

Not sure if that has any relation to this, or whether these armour quests still exist in the new gukta. I'll keep you posted.

Yun master Agluk still doesn't do anything. I have tried all day to find the right person to start the noobie frog shaman quest after talking to him repeatedly

I finally found this and confirmed that this is bugged. He just stands there and says

Blah blah
And with the skills that you learn here, you will be better equipped to serve the army

I tried
I am a shaman
and
I am ready to receive the Assembly kit

Neither of these work..

So frustrated

Yun Master Arglug no longer saws anything about following the path of the shaman. I have tried to tell him i am a shaman but he gives no reply. Someone help me. I'm a naked froglok.

If you can send me logs of what he says, I'd be happy to update the quest.

He now says everything but the last line about following the path. I can't find who now gives this quest.

Assembly Kit

OK, I've had it! I can not seem to get the assembly kit. Is it actually called the 'assembly kit' when you get it? I have tried everyway that I can think of to get the drop off the head shaman. The quest broken on Q server? I've tried to follow every one of the quest prompts and read the quest posts on here. Any Help would be great. I have completed the initial quest for my earing, so this is not the hold-up either.

Figured out what was wrong. The quest requires you to type "I am ready to receive my assembly kit." I typed the word (over and over) 'recieve'. Pay attention to the little details and it all works out better.

Anyone know what drops A large fungal spore for armguards?

Fungus trackers and fungus watchmen have dropped the large spores. I accidentally sold my first one - went back to the merchant and it was gone. Dropped again off the tracker. Hope this helps.

Any idea where to get the mosquito meat? I have killed a dozen or so bleeders and have yet to see any meat from them.

After spending 19 levels as a froglok shaman, I finally gave up on hunting the feral bleeders and the adult bleeders to get the second chunk of mosquito meat to drop. I have all the other shaman newbie armor and I have to say I was pretty stupid to waste all of that time hunting for some very rare drops. Without exaggeration, I hunted for the moccason poison, the larval carapace, the undead talisman, and the mosquito meat for at least 50 hours. Not only are the drops rare, but the constant burly kobold and troll raiders adds as well as occassional attacks by froglock exiles, traitors, and the Poisoner make it very difficult for a shaman in a small group or solo to hunt the areas where the drops occur. Also, several of the mobs that you need attack each other. The froglocks attack the bleeders and the tough skinned larvae attack the froglocks! So the mobs actually kill the mobs that drop the rare pieces. Without a doubt, in three years of playing EQ this is the most challenging zone in the game for newbies that I have played. The environment, the ability of trees to swallow corpses, the level and aggressiveness of the NPC toons, and the rarity of "newbie" armor drops combine to make this a real test of character. I thought I was up to the challenge but at some point the reward versus effort equation kicks in. The same fifty hours could have gotten me to padulah at 17, highpass keep basement at 24, and crystal cavern at 35 to 39 where the drops are decent and the exp is good. I could then quest for low level forties items instead of newbie armor.

Other froglok classes except cleric and shaman appear to have a more normal set of drops for their newbie armor and a better effort versus reward equation. Other newbie areas are definetely easier to hunt for newbie armor. I introduced two friends to the game at the same time that I started my shaman. By level 12 both of them had a complete set of dwarf warrior and wood elf druid newbie armor! At level twelve, I had two pieces!! And it wasn't until I got the root spell at level 14 that I could control some of the adds for another couple of pieces. All in all the froglok shaman newbie armor quests are not balanced for the class and levels that are needed to hunt them.

I really enjoy EQ and playing the shaman toon, but if I was you I would not focus, as I did, on getting all the newbie armor. Get a couple of pieces, do ALL of the froglok quests in froggie city, and get both your shield and your soulstone. I use the soulstone and I got the first shield so I can get the second later on.

I can see camping LODI for days to get a shield or Hadden for days to get a very special earring (there are now additional easier ways to get enduring breath equipment)but I can't see camping the Swamp for newbie armor; Dont make the same mistake I did :)

Good hunting!

It drops off the flying bleeders. Not sure if I got mine off of a feral bleeder or an adult bleeder but I still need one so I'll let you know :)

It drops off the flying ones, as per normal quest items are quite a rare drop

Normal quest items lol. Except if your in Qeynos that get very common quest drops for Human Druid. This zone sucks for leveling. Cant see, mobs drop in trees and you cant retreive loot, and agro from higher mobs. Dont level in this zone go straight to GFay bind and group till 10 then come back and loot like your never gona DIE.
