This is the third upgraded warrior pike quest.

You say, 'Hail, War Baron Eator'

War Baron Eator turns to you and snorts in anger. Some mucus lands on your cheek. 'Troopers! I thought I ordered you to keep all new recruits away from this chamber! Go, child. The War Baron of Cabilis has no time for games. See this intruder out!!'

You say, 'What memory of Sebilis?'

War Baron Eator takes a step back and thinks to himself. Phlegm dribbles off his lips. 'The Memory of Sebilis. Kept within my personal chambers. They have been taken. Taken by some croakin' Forsaken no doubt!! You have been sent to me because you show excellent prowess. Find my Memory and bring it to me with your footman's pike.'

Seek out Klok Poklon in the Tink and Babble in East Cabilis at /loc +908, -71 in the house near the castle, on the first floor.

    You say, 'Hail, Klok Poklon'

Klok Poklon says 'Greetings, thirsty traveler. Pull up a stool and lay yer copper down. It's time to drink and be merry. Just don't get too merry or I will have to call the troopers.'

You say, 'What memory of Sebilis?'

Klok Poklon takes a sip of Legion Lager. 'Puhh...lease!! That's the little trophy the War Baron brought back from Sebilis. He got it stolen from him by some thieves!! I say it was the [Steelhead gang]. They were waltzing in and out of Cabilis like it was a blasted public vomitorium!!'

    You say, 'What steelhead gang?'

Klok Poklon picks some flesh from between his teeth. 'The Steelhead gang were a band of Forsaken thieves. No one knew this!! They used to walk around here like they were rebirthed!! They used to frequent my place and get involved in head butt contests. Whew!! I tell ya, the only way to crack their skulls is with a forging hammer!! Heheh!!'

The Memory of Sebilis is a set of three gems stolen by the Steelhead Gang. They are now dead and are roaming the basement of Kurn's Tower as "thick skeletons". thick tailed skeleton drops "An Emerald" (identifies as "The Gardens of Sebilis"), thick boned skeleton drops "A Sapphire" (identifies as "The Pools of Sebilis"), and thick skulled skeleton drops "Thick Iksar Skull" (identifies as "a crimson gem is stuck inside").

Once you get all three, you'll need to remove the last gem from the skull. As Klok Poklon hinted, you'll need to combine the "Thick Iksar Skull" in a forge with a "Forging Hammer" buyable from Weaponsmith Grugl. Upon success you will receive a LORE Ruby (identifies as "The Blood of Sebilis").

Note that all three gems are Lore and tradeable.

Take all three gems (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire) and your Footman's Pike to War Baron Eator in the fort in East Cabilis. Hand them in.

War Baron Eator shines a bright smile which quickly fades to a frown. 'The memory is not complete. ..sniff, sniff.. A reward for my memory and your footman's pike.'
War Baron Eator shines a bright smile which quickly fades to a frown. 'The memory is not complete. ..sniff, sniff.. A reward for my memory and your footman's pike.'
War Baron Eator shines a bright smile which quickly fades to a frown. 'The memory is not complete. ..sniff, sniff.. A reward for my memory and your footman's pike.'
War Baron Eator gulps down a wad of phlegm. 'My memory has returned! Boneripper! You are no footman. I grant you the rank of soldier. Go and forge your weapon. Do not return to me until you become a [brave trooper of the empire].'
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 20.
Your faction standing with Cabilis Residents has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Crusaders of Greenmist has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Swift Tails has been adjusted by 5.
    You gain experience!
You receive 4 silver from War Baron Eator.
You receive 1 gold from War Baron Eator.

You receive "Soldier Head Plans". You now need to forge your Soldier's Pike. Find Weaponsmith Grugl outside the fort in East Cabilis.

You say, 'How do I forge a soldier pike?'

Weaponsmith Grugl says 'To forge a soldier pike requires skill, not to mention an iron rod, a forging hammer plus a soldier pike head. To forge the pike head, you will need a geozite tool, raw pike head and frontier fools gold as well as the soldier pike head plans.'

Buy a "Raw Pike Head", "Forging Hammer", and an "Iron Rod" from Weaponsmith Grugl.

In a forge, combine "A Raw Pike Head", "Soldier Head Plans", "Gold Nugget" (foraged in Frontier Mountains - there are two, you want the one that identifies as "Frontier Fool's Gold), and your Geozite Tool (obtained by a quest from Drill Master Vygan). You'll receive "Soldier's Pike Head" (blacksmithing, 15 trivial). If you fail you'll receive your Geozite Tool and your Soldier Head Plans back.

You then need to combine an "Iron Rod", "Forging Hammer", and your "Soldier's Pike Head" in the forge to obtain your Soldier's Pike. If you fail the combine you'll receive your Soldier's Pike Head back (trivial is under 63).

Congratulations, you have your Soldier's Pike!

    Gems and Locations Pike Quest

After camping the 3 different locations to find this mob (upstairs dining cook area, basement stalls jester area, and across stalls area in skeleton finger/cracklin bones areas), I believe that you get the sapphire from the thick boned skeleton in the skeleton finger/cracklin bones area.

After numerous kills on the other locations, jester area gave only the thick skull, dining room gave only emerald, and after hours the skeleton finger TBS gave the sapphire.

Get ready for a long camp. Good Luck.

I have been busy for a long while to collect these 3 gems. Here is the info from what I have seen:

The Skull drops from the Undead Jester PH Thick boned skeleton
Sapphire Drops from the Fingered Skeleton PH Thick Boned Skeleton
Emerald drops from Undead Cook PH Thick boned skeleton

This is after about 300 kills of thick boned to try to get them all and after really paying attention what seems to always be the gem drop locations.
I have never once seen the emerald drop in the basement, always up top at Cook location.
Skull and Sapphire will always drop in the basement in my experiences.
(this is not the first time I have worked the pike quests either)

As of this post and relating to the currently Kunark Era Fippy Darkpaw and Vulak progression servers, an iksar warrior can skip straight the Warlord Mancatcher quest (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4876) without doing any of the prior steps.

My warrior at the time of doing it is 58 and allied faction with Legion of Calibis. Faction and level may matter, maybe not.

You also still need the Geozite Tool/do the quest to make the Mancatcher.

Keep in mind if you do this part anyways, the mobs are often camped as of Kunark era progression servers. Make sure to ooc your interest in the skull/gems as noobs/farmers may let them rot.
    Ouchies!

Untwinked with 540 ac (level 24 with about 700 hp, later level 23 with about the same), I had no problem with the skelly cook PH (thick boneds are PH's), with the zerker one, I had a bit of trouble getting to him with green and lblue aggro, but it's easy to take on 4 or 5 of them with pike primary and Shissar Warsword secondary (6/20, 5 str), 2 or 3 if they were being healed by one, 1 if they were being chain healed. Other than that, I just slaughtered every skeleton in the stables till one was a thick boned (got a zerker club here as well).

The fingered was a lot harder. Since his PH can be anything, including Burynai (who heal each other), you should pull the Burynais you find in the PH spot to the stables area. You will get a few adds, but there won't be much healing, if any at all.

OK, look on the EQatlas maps. Number three on the atlas maps (upper levels) is where the cook skelly spawns (and the cook as well) who drops the emerald, in the top left hand corner right up on the wall. Don't pull the mole, it's very nasty. Now go to the lower levels, number two is where you kill the thick boned skelly that drops his skull. Then head to number three. There will be a hallway with three rooms, ending in a chamber with stairs leading up. There are two spawns on the east side of the room, you should only worry about these if they're Burynai, in which case, they'll /assist the thick boned and any Burynai PHs. On the west side, there are two pieces of wood where some things spawn. Then, in the center of the room is where the PH, thick boned, or fingered skeleton spawns. Kill it (dragging it to the stables if it's a burynai or thick boned). Pull it by using a ranged weapon or provoke, if you got it (it's bought in the PoK library, turn it in to your guildmaster). Once you've killed it, it will ALWAYS drop the sapphire, same as the others and their gems. Combine the skull with a forging hammer in a forge (you lose the hammer for some reason), and turn them all in with your pike for the pike head plans. Head to Frontier Mts and forage for a gold nugget. Then ;t (link) where (link) is the link to the nugget. If it says cannot find player 0012776 blah blah blah, you have the right one, if it's a 7 rather than a 6, it's a normal gold nugget and can't be used in the combine.

Important! It's important you use ; rather than / before the t, otherwise it won't work.

Edit: I now had to do this quest a second time in order to get my Soldier's Pike again. I have found that the ;t trick isn't the same as it used to be. Worry not, for the fool's gold will say that it's used in tradeskills, whereas the real gold will not.

IMO these quests aren't worth the headache, you get a craptacular piercing weapon which could be a cloak with worse AC then any cloak you could buy for 10pp, i checked through to see what the Lego mancatcher's stats were and again...nothing special at lvl 30 you'll be using a far better weapon, only thing you can hope for is that verant decides to make a 'greenmist' style weapon for us ikky wars.

There are 4 more pikes after the Legionnaire's Mancatcher, they are already in the data files of EQ but the quests to get them were never made or opened.

The final pike is called "Slave" and is a 25/35 piercer, procs Stun and has some nice stats, can't be used on the back anymore though.

    How I Did This Quest
    # Oct 02 2001 at 1:46 AM Rating: Excellent
Okay, I just forged my Soldier's Pike, here's the deal:

Go to the basement of Kurn's Tower and kill the thick boned skeletons. They are place holders for the Jester, the Cook, and the Fingered skels. Each different PH drops a different piece of the quest.

The emerald drops from the Cook PH at about loc -50, +50. It's the back right corner of the middle room in that hall. That room has an 18 minute spawn cycle, the back right corner pops a furby, a skel (often a lesser iceboned), a thick boned or the Cook (pretty rare, I never saw the Cook) every 18 mins. The thick boned drops a fine steel warhammer as well as the emerald. You'll also get a furby or a skel pop in the front left and back left corners of the room. The furbies will assist the thick boned skels, so be careful pulling the thick boned if there are furbies in the room.

The sapphire drops from the Fingered PH in the hall outside the Cook room. It can spawn at either end of the hall or anywhere in between. I didn't time the spawn but it seemed like another 18 min spawn. Fingered spawns pretty often, sometimes you get a greater scalebone or a lesser icebone or lesser charbone, and the thick boned seemed pretty rare when I was camping it. This one also drops a fine steel warhammer along with the sapphire.

The thick iksar skull drops from the Jester PH in the hall at about loc +150, +50. I didn't time that spawn at all, I was in the other hall going after the sapphire when a thick boned wandered into sight and I pulled it with an arrow. Biff boom bash, it dropped the skull and burynai shoulder pads (2 str, 2 dex, not bad, only AC 4 though).

You combine the skull and a forging hammer in the forge to get a ruby. You lose the forging hammer on a successful combine (no big deal, costs less than 2 silver). I succeeded, so I don't know what you lose on an unsuccessful combine.

The furbies will defend and heal the thick boned skels. I solo'ed this quest pretty well at level 23, if you're lower than that be careful because the necro, shaman and SK furbies hurt (and they're nearly all necro, shaman, and SK down there). The necros hurt me worst. At lvl 23 I have over 700 hp, so once the SK burns his 161 pt HT on me he's an easy kill. The shamans didn't hurt me that much. The necros cast about 3 dots and could get me down to 2 bubs of health if all 3 landed. And they were GREEN. Ouch.

As far as I can tell, only one thick boned skel spawns at a time. So if the Cook PH thick boned spawns and you already got the emerald, kill it anyway or you won't get the one that drops the sapphire (or the skull).

Go to Frontier Mountains, stand at the LOIO zone if you're nervous cuz it's pretty safe there, and forage until you get gold nuggets. I foraged 4 of them in a couple of hours of standing there foraging and playing Gems, and a passing druid gave me one more, two of the ones I foraged were Frontier Fool's Gold and so was the one the druid gave me. Frontier Fool's Gold examines as Gold Nugget, easy way to tell the difference is to try to sell them to a vendor (hard way is get a caster to Identify them). Vendors will pay a few silver for a Gold Nugget but will refuse to buy fool's gold.

Turn in the gems and your footman's pike to get the pike head plans. At 23 I got a blue and a half of exp from it, and enough faction to get me from kindly to warmly with the Baron.

    Combine in the forge:
    pike head plans
    geozite tool
    frontier fool's gold
raw pike head (buy from Gurgle)
On a successful combine you get the soldier's pike head (and your geozite tool). Unsuccessful you get the pike head plans and the geozite tool back.

    Combine in the forge:
    the soldier's pike head
a forging hammer (buy from Gurgle)
an iron rod (buy from Gurgle)
On a successful combine you get the Soldier's Pike. Unsuccessful you get the pike head back.

    Hope that helps someone.

They've moved the skeletal cook upstairs, and along with him, they moved the thick boned skeleton that bears the emerald. The spawn is in the dining room on the top floor of Kurns, back in a corner. In my time camping that area, it was always either a thick bone or the cook itself. He seemed to be on a longer respawn than the rest of the room.

Anywhere in Frontier Mountains. Also you don't have to have it identified, just forage up several of them and sell them to a vendor. The vendor will not buy the frontier fool's gold. I know this cuz you also have to have some for a monk shackle quest and this was our way around having to have this junk identified. Just thought I would help our warrior budies out.

Someone asked "How do you even know about the memory of Sebilis being some gems? Actually, if you wander around town - and speak to the right people about the Memory of Sebilis, or War Baron Eator - someone (bar tender in Tink 'n Babble'?) will tell you about someone stealing his jewels.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 24 2001 at 12:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why have these quests attall when the time they take you could loot enough gold for a decent weapon and armour?
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 3:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.
    Are these quests designed properly?
    # Aug 27 2000 at 5:03 PM Rating: Default
I'm just wondering if they actually made these quests in a logical manner. For example, to forge a pike *head*, you should need the pike head components and the Geozite tool, with failure returning the Geozite tool. I don't want to lose a tool, because the quests to get it are very annoying at best. Also, to forge the actual *pike*, you should have your completed pike head, the other pike components, and your pike *plans*, with failure returning the plans. This way, if you fail either part of the smithing, you still have your hard-earned plans and your hard-earned tool.

I want to know if this is the way it works before I go fail the smithing and lose something that I can't replace without going through loads of trouble.

don't fret =) if you fail to make the pike head, you lose the raw pike head (which is really "a pike head" and whatever foraged item you used. but you will keep the plans and the tool. When trying for the full pike, you will lose only the Bar, but keep the "XXXXX Pike Head" and the smithy hammer

What is the needed smithing skill level to complete this pike? I failed at 50 and lost my tool <back to chasing militia's again>. I now have it up to 71 and wonder if I need to get to next group (93 or higher) or has anyone succeeded with it lower?

From what I've read, this is a very easy combine. And if you did not get back your tool, you probably had the wrong recipe and read the failure message wrong. Be careful, DNC messages are different, and every time I see one I get pissed. At myself for making that mistake.

I'm interested in knowing why this quest is rated "not so good"? I actually found it quite challenging for a lower level quest. True getting the fool's gold was maddening, but I didnt have to fight anything while foraging in FM. Better than when in the Woods with all those goblins and skeletons when getting the petrified redwood.

To identify the gold nugget you'll need to track down an enchanter which is not that easy in Kunark. An easier way to find out whether its fool's gold is to try to sell it to a merchant. They will refuse to buy the fool's gold. It took me about 8 or 9 tries to get the right kind.
    RE: Soldier's Pike
    # Nov 18 2001 at 11:00 PM Rating: Decent
two ways to ID the Fool's Gold:

    1. Have an enchanter cast Identification as metioned, or have an easier to find necro cast this =). Nuggets will id as either Frontier Fool's Gold, or as Genuine Gold Nugget.

    2. Sell all nuggets you find to a merchant. The merchant will buy the Genuine Gold nugget, but will pay absolutely nothing for the Frontier Fool's Gold. This is handy since this is the one you need anyway =)

Give all 3 gems to the Baron, along with your pike, and he will give you the soldier pike plans. The plans are needed to make the soldier pike. You can not make it without the plans.

The Thickboned skele is found in the basement lvl of Kurns tower (not the pit) back in the stables. I do think there are other possible rare spawns for him in the tower but there are 2 spawn points he almost always shows up in every 18 minutes. Once you enter the stables there will be 3 on your left and 6 on your right. A thickboned spawns in the second stall to the left in the back right corner. He is a common placeholder for the fingered skeleton needed for the monk quest. Another common place for the thickboned to spawn is in a corner past the 6 stalls on the right the hal will turn left and there will be another 6 stalls, 3 on either side... this is the spawn for the jester. His common Place golder is a thickboned as well. Hope this isnt all too vague.

Your memory is good, but not that good. Thick Boneds spawn in the hallway outside the cooks room (never saw one spawn in the cooks room) and you can usually group with a Monk and SK in this area. Monks usually are there camping the fingered, SK's camping the "regular" Skeles hoping to get the glowing skull. You were right about the other spawn. The other spawn point is the Jester Spawn. Since someone is always camping that one, you can usually just ask for what you need from them. If your polite, they will usually let you loot what you need. Take my word for it, I roam the tower frequently, where else could this necro get so many bones in so little time?

To anyone who thinks the Iksar Quests make no sence, think about this. All Iksar quests take place near eachother. Iksar were meant to group with Iksar. They are hated by all other races, and hate them back. This is a roleplaying game, so would make some sence when looking at it that way.

Killed everything from the open rooms on all sides of the cook/fingered/thickbone skelly hall all the way down to the end of the stables area, and also everything below that point (lvl 40 Iks War keeping busy) Mainly interested in flushing out a Jester, but also looking for the emerald for pike quest. I killed the thick boned skelly with an emerald on it in the back right corner of the middle room (facing in) on the fingered skelly hallway. about 20 minutes later on my last pass through (gold adds up in weight, heh) I killed a cook in the exact same place. He dropped some sort of a skull container which I am going to look up in a moment.

Normally byrnai are PHers for the cook, but I can verify that thick boned skellies can also spawn there. I am nearly certain that I have seen lesser icebone and lesser charbones as cook/thickbone PHers.

    Memory of Sebilis

The memory of Sebilis is in three parts, ruby, sapphire and emerald. The sapphire and emerald drop from the thickbone skeleton in Kurns tower. The ruby is obtained by combining the thickbone skeletons skull and a forging hammer in a forge.
    Memory of Sebilis

I am playing an Iksar warrior and have been trying to do all of these "pike quests". Recent patches have now made it impossible to do Footman Pike or higher quests without completing the first part of the quests. I am now trying to complete the Soldier Pike quest. I have everything needed EXCEPT the Memory of Sebilis. I have been killing Iksar bandits, brigands, and marauders left and right in an attempt to garner this Memory. I do not even know what it is supposed to be. I figured I would know when I saw it. I keep checking back here in hopes that somebody else will discover the memory and post the info. I will continue to do so.

The memory isn't on any of the bandits, it's on a thickboned skel in Kurn's Tower. Why anyone would come to a quest site and not read the info there is beyond me, but to each his own I guess.
