At the end of the previous quest, Tabben Bromal asked you to let him know when you were ready to write down the names of the next set of parts.
You say, 'I am ready to write down the names of the next set of parts.' Tabben Bromal says 'Very well. You'll need to gather up a dense hammered casing for the outer shell; a crystalline carapace will act to protect the face of the device; and it requires a fiery power source to propel the rotor mechanism. The device is then attached around the neck, much like the one you are wearing. The only difference will be the strands of living chain that will keep it from slipping from around your neck. Place those four items and your talisman in that box and return it to me. We should be able to get this thing built for you without much fuss at all, should all things go well on your end of the task, of course.' You receive a Small Parts Container. Crystalline Carapace: Spiders in Plane of Valor Strands of Living Chain: Spiders in Plane of Torment Dense Hammered Casing: Random Diakus in Drunder, Fortress of Zek (Plane of Tactics) Fiery Power Source: Tower of Solusek Ro Combine these four pieces along with the first clockwork talisman in the Small Parts Container to craft a Locked Parts Box. I just completed this portion at level 52. Perhaps they removed level restrictions when they rmeoved flaging from certain zones. I will not attempt the final version since I flagged myself to the elemental planes.

You do not have to say anything to the NPC he gives you the new box when you hand in the old one. You cannot say anything at all to recieve the second container, and once destroyed you do have to start again to get to that point again.

I just completed all 3 quests on one of my bards a few minutes ago after first gathering all of the needed items. You do not get a box after you complete the first talisman. All I got was the talisman. When I told Tabben I am ready, he gave me the box for the second talisman.
I wonder if the people who thought the quest was broken failed to have the first talisman on them. /shrug

It's not bugged on the Nameless. I just did this quest two days ago. It worked just fine for me.

that phrase does nothing. you do not recieve another box with that phrase. all the npc says is ready for what over and over. this write up needs fixed.

Some people say that the 1st and 2nd talisman are rechargable with the item Quintessence of Knowledge - can anyone confirm if this is true please I would like to know for certain the truth to this matter - thank you .
Not rechargable. The quintessence of knowledge is the component needed to use the gate. Without quintessence of knowledge on you, no gate.

Got 2 tonite from warriors.
FYI I had an augmentation on the 'Small Clockwork Talisman', when I put it in the 'Small Parts Container' with the other items:
Crystalline Carapace
Strands of Living Chain
Dense Hammered Casing
Fiery Power Source
it combined fine and when I did the turn in to the gnome (Tabben Bromal) above the smith shop in POK I recieved the new items (Powered Clockwork Talisman and The Talisman Schematic) no problem. Obviously the Powered Clockwork Talisman didn't have the augmentation on it that the first one had.

OK heres the skinny u need to use the first box named SMALL PARTS CONTAINER not small parts kit they wont combine in the kit i just found this out u MUST have the containder to do turn in

I have been trying to finish the second neck since March 12th with no luck.
I finished the first and destroyed the parts kit since I didn't feel like carrying it around, and since I knew that Tabben would give me another once I said the trigger text to him.
Well of course he does nothing more than say: "Ready for what?" when I talk to him now, so I went and got another Tiny Bottle and Note to give to Jimlok in PoTranq and the second neck items will not combine in that kit. I suspect they won't combine because that kit is probably coded to only combine items for the first gate neck. No biggie, but it was worth a try.
My real hang-up is over the fact that Tabben won't respond to the trigger text indicated above. No matter what variation I use, his only response to me is, "Ready for what?"
I certainly hope I didn't screw up by destroying the parts kit I received after completing the first gate neck, but it seems unreasonable to expect that we would carry around an essentially useless item for the duration of our attempts to complete a quest. I can understand for some things like the VT shard frame, or the BoT tower/Agnarr key ring, but this is kinda stupid.

quest is not broken... you just have to keep the box he gives you... it is NOT the same box to make the second as it was for the first so you CAN NOT just get another one by hailing etc... yeah if you did the first neck, and then destroyed the box he gave you with that necklace.. you then need to start over from the beginning

You get the 2nd talisman container the same time you get the first talisman. Saying "I am ready" does nothing but tell you the ingredients for the second talisman. Been like that for a while.
I'd just start over, it'd probably be a lot faster than hoping for any decent fixes to come from Sony these days, with their hands full of EQ2 adding to the pure crap that was the bug-fixers and balance teams pre-EQ2.
ie: Took them about 9 months to analyze, ponder, review, discuss and mull over whether or not the monk epic 1.0 should get endurance on it (as well as rogue and warrior) since Berserkers get endurance and HP on theirs. 9 months of discussion only to get a no.
So, don't expect em to be fixing anything useful if they're taking 9 months on something simple like that.

Yes, you did mess up by destroying the parts kit. Don't say the trigger phrase till you're ready to do combine for 2nd talisman, or you have to carry around the box till you are ready.

Unfortunately, neither will SOE since my emails to CS go unanswered and my petitions in game just get deleted.
I guess I'll just do the first necklace all over again.

I"m not sure doing that will help....I'm also waiting for a response to the exact same problem on CT. I never told tabben I was ready until a week ago when I had all the parts for the second talisman. He replied "Ready for what?" 6 days of petition in que and no answer. THANKS SONY

just petition, wait a bit and a nice GM will gladly give you the correct result of the combine. This is a bug known by GMs, neck gate#3 is also bugged at this time... just petition as well, you'll get your new shinny neck :)
what server are you on? mine just keep getting deleted without a GM responding to me.

As far as I am able to figure out this quest is currently broken. Combining the correct elements in the correct container yields - - - nothing. I did /bug already - - - LOL at this point I would be fine and dandy if they never fixed this - - as long as the servers get stable.

with the new PoP zone changes, is this zone still one of the ones you have to go through the Planer progression to get too, or just be a required lvl?

You can get the 1st Clockwork Talisman without any flags, but you aren't going to get the piece out of SolRo without flags.

Sorry ppl no recharge -- it is a progressive quest first 5 charges, then 15, then unlimited. when you reach the unlimited why would charges matter. just use it wisely when you do or have some gate potions laying around.

I don't think any quest where you turn in a single item can be MQed. Thus this quest cannot be MQed, because you combine the drops in a container and hand the combined container alone to the NPC.

Actually I know of one - the shammy Stoicism spell quest. I do not know about MQing the two drops off Flotsam and Jetsam to the spirit for the actual spell, but I know that you can get F & J to spawn if the non-quester hands in the empty flask.
Then again, perhaps this would not be considered a "real" MQ. :-)

Can you use all 5 of the charges on the first talisman and still combine it with the rest of the items for the second talisman?

Does anyone know the answer to this. Can you use the talisman with the charges all used up or not?
items that disappear after the charges are gone say 'Expendable' on them.
I've never heard of a quest that uses an item with charges to require the item fully charged, and i very much doubt such a high profile quest as this would be any different. If this wasn't true, i'm certain somebody would have complained here about it. I'm certainly gonna use the charges on mine!

Anyone on any other servers been having problems getting the little spiders to spawn? I have been after this piece for a month now, and the little spiders stopped spawning... I'm having to solo the two big ones in the back end of the zone and having 0 luck getting strands to drop off them.
EDIT: April 8th's Patch SORTA fixed this problem.... the Hatchling traps still won't spawn BUT! The big spiders (painweavers, hookcasters, limb binders) now drop the strands! Both my friend and I got one today. :)

I just got it yesterday, the Hatchling traps are spawning again, that's what I got it from. Got it within about 10 minutes in in the zone with 65 magician, paladin, cleric, and enchanter

Daiku Death Knights drop the casing with great frequency... easily 1 in 4. To the best of my knowledge, nothing else in the zone drops the casing, though I could be mistaken.
I suspect (continuing the trend of the first quest), one and only one *specific* kind of creature drops each component.
Which makes me wonder which spiders in PoT drop the chains.

is there any way to re-charge the talisman?
Dont destroy the box he gives you back from doing the completion of #1!!!
I thought I could just kill another rat and get the 'small parts kit' again for the #2 combine. However, doing the combine for #2 in the #1box (small parts kit) that you get from the schematic doesn't work. You get a "Does not combine".
I gotta go collect the parts for #1 again. :(

Seems odd that the first quest would send you only to the 1st tier zones, and all but one of the items needed for 2nd are found in 2nd tier zones. I'm willing to bet (unless someone has already found it in ToS) that the power source is in a 2nd tier zone.
