You say, 'Hail, Tenada Jeried'

Tenada Jeried says 'I am afraid I have little that I can talk about right now. If you like you may speak to my [instructor] he can probably tell you about our work.'

You say, 'Who is your instructor?'

Tenada Jeried says 'My instructor is Sage Balic; you will be able to find him upstairs. Ask him about his research, I'm sure he would love to tell you about his work.'

You say, 'I am interested in learning from you.'

Tenada Jeried considers for a moment and continues, 'Very well, but first you must prove that you are a student of the advanced arts. In order to do this, you will need to collect each of the advanced manuals in combat, stealth, and magic. You will also need to seek out a prized possession known as a Hope Stone. I believe it currently lies somewhere in the elemental planes. Return to me with these four tools of learning, and only then will you be truly worthy of what secrets the planes have to offer.'

Upon handing in the items:

Tenada Jeried's eyes go wide. 'This is incredible! You have proven yourself to be truly worthy of these planar secrets, ______. May its knowledge contained within guide you safely wherever you travel.'
You gain experience!!

Ok, Just finished this quest this morning on Rodcet Nife. Felt the need to share information.

Beginner Combat Manual -
- Nightmare Mephit Blood can be bought, but you may as well go kill for it. The are in the caves near the North East section of the zone. You can farm the blood and meat there. Blood sells for a lot.
- Slarghilug blood also in Nightmare. The are by the river across from the Hobgoblins. They are easy kills. The blood drops from 1 out of about 5 mobs (ish).
- Bubonian Blood is most easily obtained from Decay. Go in, take the first right. Go east a bit and you will see the rats. Try to stay in that first room. Pull other to that room. A level 70 Paladin and 69 BL killed those easily. Blood drops 1 out of 3ish.
- The rest of the components for Planar Blood Brew are merchant bought. My skill was at 200 and made 4 combiones without fail.

Beginner Magic Manual -
- Hobgoblins are in Nightmare. Kill them while you are killing Slarghilugs. The drop the mean off almost all of them. I bought the Surprise in Baz for about 200 a while before I started this with the intention of starting it then. Oh well. This should be an easy combine for one with a skill of 200.

Beginner Stealth Manual -
- All items are store bought (including items to make the ingrediants.) I had Unfired Planar Stein in the bank. You need to have planar essences to make those, but they are cheap in the bazaar. 15pp each. You need only 2. This combine was easy and I made the "Planar Peridot Encrusted Stein" without fail 4-5 times with a marginal skill level.

Intermediate Combat Manual -
Junk Beast in PoI - This guy is not as easy as he looks. I'm not sure of his exact spawning time/event, but I checked in there for a few days before he was up. It just so happened that there was a group grinding in Innovation when he was up, so I am leaning towards the idea that he spawns randomly on the death of any mob. He hit me (70 paladin) for 933 max 1 time. The rest were between 150 and 700. He procs a blind which is annoying and got off an 18 second stun on me 3 times. My MR is pretty high (was 281 if I remember correctly) and I did not resist anything.

Intermediate Magic Manual -
Vhaksiz the Shade is in PoN. If you are hunting mephits, just keep doing down that tunnel. He spawns right out in the trees. Don't know the spawn time. He was up when I was killing mephits. Had 4 groups ranging from levels 60-70. Took a while to kill him even with that many people. Has a lot of HP. He dropped the item I needed along with 2 other items. Shoulders and Weapon.

Intermediate Stealth Manual -
Rallius Rattican is in the very bottom of the caves in PoD. I gathered a 70 Paladin, 70 Ranger, 68 Rogue, 70 Bard and 70 Cleric. That was over kill. I sent the bard in to fetch him and pull him out. "a Gargantuan Spider" hit the bard, snared em and the adds killed her. So we went in fighting. Kill up to her corpse where 2... 2!! spiders were there camping it. No one could target the spiders, so we /corpsed and once the bard looted all her items off the corpse, both spiders dissappeared. We went in for the kill and with a few adds, he was dead. He does not hit hard and is a weakling. Bard was able to easily mezz all the adds.

Advanced Manuals -

Gems - In BoT. Gather a group up and start killing. You won't find many people in there anymore with the release of OoW, which should make it easier to just move from one camp to another. Did not stay there long.
Rage Filled Gem - Bought it in Bazaar. Couple hundred PP.
Blue Diamonds - While grinding in nightmare, a ton of diamonds dropped off the Hobgoblins, Mephits and Slargs. Just as often as the bloods I needed. was very cool.
Battle Worn Trinket and Symbol of the Diaku were bought off merchants. Very cheap. No one grinds in the plains anymore so its hard to find people who want to go there, especially just to help with a quest.

Hope Stone - I had this from a raid in Earth a while back. It is what prompted me to do this. I have seen a few people in the last few months come into PoK/Bazaar trying to sell this MQ. Don't know if they sold it or not. Be prepared to pay alot. With less people in the Elemental Planes, you can consider these stones to be even more rare then before.

Each Series of books has the NPC's all standing together.

The guy you do the main turn in is standing across the room from the Stealth guys at the bottom of the ramp to the library on the neutral side. If you hail him, he mentions nothing about the quest. Says something about talking to his instructor. Just do the turn in and you will get it.

So I let my necro do the beginner combat manual. Then came back handed in the sand gem , rage filled gem , Intermediate Combat Manual , and crossed my fingers and let my necro turn in the blue diamond last. She was givin the Advanced Combat Manual . I was happy let my shammy give the other two books and hope stone and necro turned in the Adv. Combat Manual and got it !

Just fyi, ALL parts of the quest can be MQ'd, and in any combination. For the final turn in, I had the hope stone and the advanced combat manual, while my friend had the other 2 advanced manuals. He turned his items in first, and then I turned mine in right after he did. I got the Secrets of the Planes.

Hi there,

It is clear that you can MQ the final manual if you have 3 manuals and someone else got the hope stone, but I was wondering... The guy who got the hope stone need the three manuals too? Maybe if you donīt get the manuals the npc doesnīt care if you have a hope stone and just "eat" it.

See you and tx in advance.

No you are wrong. I had the head of the rat MQ'ed for the Intermediate Stealth Manual and the heart MQ'ed for the Intermediate Magic Manual, so yes you can still do MQ in PoP. I'm not sure if the Hope Stone can be MQ'ed though. It may do some kinda flag check to see if you are really elemental flagged.

Hi there,

You can loot one even if you arenīt flagged using raid option, so I donīt think Elemental flag is really needed for this quest.

See you.
#fredfunk, Posted: Dec 23 2003 at 1:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK...BUT..how do you loot it if you aren't Elemental flagged yet? If you are in a raid, how are you in EP??

I find this so funny those who like to flame people when they themselves don't have a clue wtf they are talking about.

You might want to "THINK BEFORE YOU TALK" there hero.... You dont need to be Elemental flagged to loot this item, nor do you even need to loot this item to finish this quest...

1. You can enter the Elemental planes even if you are not elemental flagged as long as 80%? (58 of 72 people?) of the raid is flagged.... I may not have the exact percentage, but its close to that.

2. This item can be multiquested by someone who IS elemental flagged and can do the turn in for you as long as you have at least ONE of the other three manuals.

So tuck your head between your legs and kiss yer ***, cause you look like an idiot...

Btw, people like that are anywhere (No clue and just want to flame) so donīt worry. They will learn soon (I hope) :)

See you.

Pd: I got my Secret of the planes doing MQ, so yeah, It works well.
Beginning to end.

To get this item you need to get each ot the Advanced Combat Manula, the Advanced Stealth Manual, the Advanced Magic Manual and a Hope Stone.

The Hope Stone drops off random mobs in the elemental planes. (an uncommon drop apparently, I don't know first hand)

Each of the advanced manuals requires the intermediate version of the manual and a drop from BoT and Tactics. (an uncommon drop but people spend a lot of time at these camps Tactics for Spectrals and BoT for nameds so the gems (nodrop) do end up rotting fairly often).

Each of the intermediate manuals requires the beginner's version of the manual and a drop from a miniboss in each of PoI, PoN and PoD.

Each of the beginner's manuals requires some tradeskill item (they seem to drop in bazaar with regular frequency) and the planar travel manual (which requires a lot of running around in PoK, like 30 minutes of run, /loc, run, /loc, tun, loc, hail, conversation, alt-enter, look up next NPC loc, rinse and repeat).

The intermediate drop from tier one planes seems to be the PITA portion of this quest (although anyone capable of snapping up a hopestone will probably think the running around looking for NPCs in PoK is the PITA portion of this quest, remember you gotta do it 3 times).

Anyways good luck.

I can also confirm this quest is real. After completing the Advanced Combat Manual quest I was referred to Tenada Jeried. He wants all three Advanced Manuals and a Hope Stone from the elemental planes. Don't bother doing all three manuals until you can get your hands on a Hope Stone, as most players will never reach the elemental planes.

If the previous quests and items are any indication...
The item that should come of this, in my opinion, would be this... (again, this is just my thought)

Planar guide's manual (No clue on the name really...)
AC: +22 Str: +15 Sta: +15 Agi: +15 Dex: +15 Wis: +15 Int: +15 HP: +45 Mana: +45 Weight: 1.0
Classes: All Classes
Races: All Races
Inventory Slot: Secondary Melee, Range

Or... she could just give you a stack of fish. =P

Hmmm... well, I was almost right. Only off by 2ac, the resists, an extra 30hp/mana, and the effect.
Well... at least I was right about the stats. lol.
