I had my alt go into Reinforced Blackburrow the other day and he collected 16 Gnoll Fangs..I had heard rumors that because Blackburrow was super high level 76+..That the quest should give lots of EXP I heard 1 blue of regular 3 golds of AA. I did not believe it but I decided to test it out I collected the Gnoll Fangs on my alt who has 77 AA's and put 100% into AA exp and after doing 5 turn ins his AA bar did not move at all.

The quest information given on this link is actually for the Gnoll FANGS dropped in Blackburrow, Quenos Hills, etc., not for the Gnoll TEETH that drop in Blightfire Moors.

    Possible bug
    # Jul 11 2004 at 12:33 AM Rating: Good
Well, tonight I collected about 48 turn ins (3 x 48). I am iskar so need faction so banking is easier, grant it, the white rose faction would be next. I went and put up illusion barbarian after illusion human did not make me high enough. I was dubious but good enough to get into the arena. I did my 48 turn in, and got lots of torches, food and water. Destroyed most of it. I conned her as barbarian. I went from dubious to Amiable. I thought cool. So, I went to the other side of lake while still having one of the guards targeted. Conned him, still amiable, took off illusion, and big fat KOS. Now i jumped 4 lvls of faction, so Im not sure why I did not even jump one as iskar. I am wondering if iskar are not ever meant to be in halas. I am max ally in Qeynos and dubious in Freeport.

well, good luck to all that try this quest. I am going to keep working at it until iskar can roam where they want to.

Not a bug, the faction levels aren't equal in scale.
    Picture a scale from -6000 to + 6000

    -Scowls, Glares, Dubious, Apprehensive
    =Indifferent
    +Amiable, Kindly, Warmly, Ally

So on this scale, you're assuming that each faction "Region" is 1333.3333 points.

"Scowls" has, I believe, the largest region, about 3000 points. Glares-Amiable are about equal in size and Warmly/Ally seem to be the smallest, probably 500ish.

In effect, you need a LOT more points to go from Scowls-Apprehensive than from Kindly-Ally. The illusioin puts you in smaller regions so you will see changes there more quickly.

Dont do this. Im not sure of the cash you get but there is NO way it beats the Qeynos quest. your not KOS anyways, and its much better.

The gnolls are doable at lvl 4-ish and the xp at that level is disgusting.... up and easily until 8 and at 12 you could go deeper to blackburrow and get xp, by then the quest thins out.

Id LOVE to see a % XP comparison.

You may have noticed that on occasion you get a gnoll fang after killing a gnoll. You have probably been throwing them away since merchants disdain buying those dirty gnoll teeth. But wait! There is a guard Captain (Captain Tillin) located on the top floor of the arena in Qeynos who seems to have a pathological hatred of gnolls (don't we all). Take him your collection of fangs and give them to him for some experience and a moonstone. Use your Moonstones for the Moonstone quest. (give to Mcneal Jocub in the Fish's Ale) Giving a gnoll tooth to Captain Tillin raises your faction with GuardsofQeynos and Antonius Bayle and Merchants of Qeynos, and lowers it with the

apparently the faction you get have differnt ammount of points

My DE SK turned in 10 stacks of Gnoll Fangs and went from low dubios to amiable.
Went back to Qeynos to check on Steel Warrior NPC, they STILL dubios.
considerign there is atlest 500 points difference between (mid) dubios and low amiable, i conclude that per 3 Gnool fangs you get 5 points with Wolfes of the North and only 1 point towards Steel Warriors

From doing this quest many times, faction hits seem to be the following:

+15 Wolves of the North (Barb warriors & guards)
+1 Shamen of Justice (Barb shamans)
    +1 Merchants of Halas
    +1 Steel Warriors (Human warriors)

134 turn-ins maxed my Wolves faction (x3 teeth = 402 teeth). But it would take 6000 teeth to max the other three, so forget that heh.

Would you be able to go into Halas with invis on, and then when you get near the bank have someone cast wolf form on you to do the quest? Or do the merchants not like wolf form either? I've never been inside but would like to. I don't like the idea of having a place I'll never be able to go! lol

I was one kill away from leveling to 8 when my Shaman go trained with Refugee Splitpaw in the mix. He adhered my feet to the ground, and him and his five buddies went to town on me. Needless to say I shortly found myself back in Halas with a few gnoll teeth in my inventory, hoping it would be enough to push me into 8. I gave one set to Lysbith, and I got ONE FULL BUBBLE of XP. I can't believe I got that much XP without negative faction or imminent death!
Iksar Monk's guide to doing this quest
    # Aug 27 2002 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
    1) Slaughter gnolls in BB until you have 200 of those no-drop, stackable, gnoll teeth.

    2) Borrow a druid/ranger with camo and harmony, make your way using camo to get behind Lysbith McNaff, then FD and sneak until it sticks.

    3) Sort your fangs into stacks of 4 so you can hand in 4x4 quickly, leave room for the torches and food/water that she's going to give you.

    4) Have your druid/ranger friend find the guard that wanders around the outside of the pit. Once they cast harmony on that guard, you can stand up and start handing in fangs. When Harmony is wearing off, FD, and dump the torches onto the ground.

200 fangs raised me to dubious with Kylan O'Danos (Wolves of the North), netted me 192 gold, 2 stacks of water, 2 stacks of rations, 1 1/2 stacks of iron rations, and numerous torches which I dropped on the ground. However, I'm still at "threaten" (one step above scowl) with merchants, and "scowl" with the shaman guild.

Ive read a few posts, and you are right about BlackBurrow being walked through by higher levels needing faction. My 34 shaman walks in casts pet and it all over. I leave behind a large trail of bountiful corpses. By the time im done collecting 40-60 teeth i have well over 1000 copper plus some silver that I gladly give to a non twinked 10 or under player.

As far as the post about fangs being turned in Qeynos for Steel Warrior faction... sorry that's incorrect... only to Lysbeth for SW faction boost. Keep in mind SteelWarrior and Qeynos Guards are NOT on same faction, SW are the warrior guild teachers in Qey.

Also in Qeynos, if you do the following moonstone quests ( after giving Capt. fangs you receive moonstones ) .. prepare to be hated by the corrupt.

A NOTE ABOUT CORRUPT QEY GUARDS. IF YOU SIT WITHIN THEIR AGRO RANGE, THEY WILL BRING THEY THE RED CON ALLY GUARDS TO KILL YOU!!!

Happened to me last night. Lt. Arathur showed ally.. I agroed the guard at the clock and Arathur crushed me for 175x2 while stunned happened again... dead. BEWARE

You will get credit for every third fang turned in. If someone else turns in 2 and walks away, all you need to do is turn in 1 more to get the experience.

In my experience doing quests of this nature, all the quests are like this.

And she will say the '3 fangs' thing for every fang #1 or #2 turned in, even if you hand her 3 at a time.

Either way you turn in the gnoll teeth the quest is good for money and Exp and items. In Halas (just run up and give 3 at a time the teeth to Lysbith) the torch and rations are useful items and so is the money. Maybe if this quest was less effective at higher levels there would be less high lvl people clearing out the top of BB forcing the lower levels to venture down into the Train Station creating the wicked Trains which make this zone an exercise in Chaos. Just a thought.

IMHO turning in Gnoll fangs to Captain Tillin is worth more than turning them in Halas. If you are not looking for faction, Qeynos is the way to go for exp and reward.

something else to consider: the Halas faction does increase Steel Warrior faction, without decreasing Corrupt Guard faction.

i totally screwed my barb in South Qeynos doing the Qeynos quest too much.

    # Mar 20 2002 at 10:23 AM Rating: Good
My own average from turning in the gnoll fangs is 6 gold for 3 fangs in Halas, and 4 gold for 3 fangs in Qeynos (after bothering with the moonstone quest).

As a shaman, I'm more interested in improving Halas faction, since it's the only Good city on Norrath that with a Shaman trainer and spells.

Qeynos is a more convenient place to go for a lot of people though....

    # Apr 21 2002 at 5:36 PM Rating: Default
Qeynos IS better. Case in point:
My barbarian beastlord, Moomoomoomoomoo(great name, eh?) needed to level to 9 and fast. I had been hunting at BB and was bound in South Qeynos. So I died from a gnoll commander and found myself in SQ. I decided to do something with my 11 gnoll fangs and got half my level turning in gnoll fangs(I was fresh out of level 7 into level 8). Then, I gave the Moonstones to McNeal Jocub thus securing my entire level. I was apprehensive with Corrupt factions and now I'm dubious, though....

I agree with the Qeynos Quest on gnoll teeth.
It would be better for u newbies to use the Qeynos one since u get moonstones then double the exp u get by turning in the moonstones.

The reason you only needed one tooth is because someone had previously turned in two.
My policy when questing is to turn in items one at a time until you get the exp, then follow directions, helps maximize your return.

This will happen with all torches! The only time it will happen though is if you are holding it and you go into water....when you come out...the torch turns into the strange-looking staff. Try it and you will see. To get rid of the weird looking staff, simply unequip the torch and then re-equip it...and whala....back to normal.

You can quickly buildup steelwarrior (as well as Knights of Truth and Priests of Marr) faction turning in milk to Mojax Hikspin in the west commonlands.

Just hand them in 4x4 and you'll quickly have enough steelwarrior faction, but you'll also lose Freeport Militia faction.

Milk for Mojax is a sub-quest of this quest: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=361

A week later you should have your faction, but if not, there is a quest in Halas to deliver an elixir to the guards in Everfrost. It is a simple run and you get 5 positive faction hits in about 5 minutes with SOW. Spend an hour or two doing that and you should be good to go. Check the Halas quest page for the exact quest and directions. Also, when I did it, I stopped to kill any polar bear cubs I passed and ended up with 6 hq bear pelts.

I turned in 124 fangs to her and got from dubious to high amiable... but with Steel Warriors I went from dubious to Apprehensively... DANG IT

You dont get for every faction the same improvements. It is important in which order they are listed. Steel Warriors is the last mentioned which means that you get the worst improvement.

As a side note: If a faction gets worse, it will drop down faster than an improvement, so even if only the last mentioned faction will get worse, it can be still more than that what it is getting better.

I hope i described it clear enough :)

i think you are wrong about loosing faction faster than you gain it- my iksar got wolf form and turned in DF belts to both the militia and knights of truth faction and i ended up being amiable to both factions

You're post is a bit old, but part of the reason your faction with Knights of Truth was as high as militia was because kill orcs raises faction with Knights of Truth. And to get aimable to Militia you had to of killed yourself a ton of orcs ;)
