    You say, 'Hail, Lysbith McNaff'

Lysbith McNaff says 'Hail! Ye've come to [serve Halas], have ye not? We're the Wolves o' the North and it is our task to defend our city from harm.'

    You say, 'I serve Halas.'

Lysbith McNaff says 'The Wolves o' the North show ye no ill will, but there's much ye must do to earn our trust. Perhaps ye should inquire o' the [gnoll bounty].'

    You say, 'What gnoll bounty?'

Lysbith McNaff says 'I've placed a bounty on the gnolls o' Blackburrow. Their whelps have invaded our land and we must carry the fight into their dens. Join the fight and return three gnoll fangs as proof of yer victory in Blackburrow. Do so, and earn the respect o' the Wolves o' the North.'

I have been trying in vain to raise my faction standing with ANYONE in Halas. I did the gnoll teeth, collected 80 of them, went to turn them in to Lysbith, was in my barbarian garb and WITH my faction spell still only conned threateningly to her. Needless to say, I decided to go invisible, ok, good idea right? ((Laughs)) NO! I gave her the three teeth, and no sooner hit the give button and my life's blood was shed upon the floor right in front of her. It should be known that I have killed Frostbite a few times, trying in vain to get the corpse of the Koalandi fish for the quest for the Stein of Mogguk. I'm a level 41 enchantress now, and am KOS to barbarians. This wouldn't bother me too much, except ONE thing. There is a nasty barbarian woman and her Ogre boyfriend who pop in and out of the bar in WFP where one is to turn in the itmes to Gregor for the Bartenders Compodieum. If someone can or knows how I can raise my faction back with this woman, please contact me at emeraldseye@hotmail.com. I would be most appreciative. Thanks for reading my sob story.

The FASTEST and EASIEST solution is to go in the night. The Halas girl and her ogre boyfriend sleep at night and you can get the barkeeper compendium without being bothered by Fatso smacking your cute little enchantress ***.

Remember: Bars are best visited at night, market place in the morning and tea shops in the afternoon.

Just wanted to clear a few things up...

    1) My Druid is amiable to the Guards in Halas but when I am in wolf form I am KOS. Beware this tactic inside. I have never tried it out inside but the ones outside did not like me in wolf form.

    2) Way to do quests when KOS. Group with a friend who can cast invis on you. Approach the quest giver and put your items into the trade window while invis. BEFORE, I repeat BEFORE you hit "trade" have your friend cast invis on you again. When you open the trade window you are still invis but putting items in the trade window seems to take it away. If someone casts invis on you BEFORE you hit trade it will reset your invis and you can do the trade with an INDIFFERENT faction.

I have used this trick to get my DE on Vallon Zek faction in most cities to the point that I can now walk as a DE without being killed on sight (Kelethin, Felwithe, Rivervale, Qeynos, FP, Erudin).

if your only threatenly wolf form should probably get you up where your not but if you ready to attack theres a chance you will be still KOS like me and the freeport militia i grouped with a paladin friend of mine and we killed the guards in freeport and im soooo KOS not even my wolf form can make me non-kos but wolf form should work for you. and if it works you can get a friend to help you gain fraction by casted invis on you after you start the trade window

To let you know if you are KOS to Barbarians, there is almost no possible way to raise you faction outside, so I'm sorry to say you are SOL. I know of one quest outside of Halas to raise your faction. My 45 lvl ranger friend my the mistake of killing Frostbite, the Barbarian village's pet wolf in WK, at a lower level. She now cannot go any were near that village or Halas. Word of advice watch out for all barbarian villages - same faction as Halas.

As to Lenka Stoutheart and Bruto(?), they spawn around 9am game time, the same time the BBM boat arrives and depawns by approx 12pm. She doesn't spawn in EFP at any other time. If your faction is good with the Steel Warriors, talk to Toala in the FP Arena. She'll give you a quest that you can do that will raise you faction with Merchants of Halas, Wolves of the North, Shamans of Justice, and Steel Warriors, but it does involve Lenka and Bruto.

    There is help..

For all you enchanters who thought they would try a shortcut in the Stein quest by killing frostbite to get the fish. Yah, you... the one who ruined their faction with Wolves of the North. That's right, Lenka who is in the Greggor's Bar in EFP on occasion, where you get killed by her as, well guess what Most barbarians all over Norrath are Wolves of the North related. Barbarian Warrior and evidently Guard faction. By the way, you been killing barbarian brothers in WK, guess what... Wolves of the north gets hurt too..

There are a couple of ways to fix Wolve Of The North faction.
First off these will help but if you are KOS you cant do.Turning in the white polar bear skins to Cyndil in Halas and turning in Gnoll Fangs in Halas Warrior Guild. Turning in the ice Golgin Necklaces helps too but after too many you will be Kos at Bank in halas. Since you are KOS in Halas these dont really help until you can raise faction enough to go to Halas without being KOS.

The way to get faction up is just down from the dock in EFP past Greggor's Bar. At night only, where Bait Masterson is at during the day, standing out on a piece of rock, which is jutting out into the water about 50 yards past Greggor's, she spawns. (you can see them from the boat dock looking south)
Who is she... Giz Dunree.. I think that is the correct spelling. Somewhere around a level 25 Inky. Root, send in pet by getting hit, root and nuke. If she runs she will jump in water and swim. Hopefully you already put on enduring breath, just jump in and get her. Oh, the big shark there in the water, like level 4, who cares.
She will spawn like every three hours starting at 9:00pm. If you kill her right after spawn you can get her three times a night. (9pm, 1am, 4am)
While you will lose faction with Inky's, you will gain with the wolves of the north. Took me about 24 kills before I was no longer KOS, although I am still dubious.
Just for the record... I didnt kill frostbite, my son did using my guy thinking he would help me out.

Giving Frostbite the Regurgitonic will raise your barbarian factions and get you the Koalindl fish. I don't know how much faction it gives and it is a long trip from Surefall to Ak'Anon to West Karana, but I thought I'd mention it.

I have given the regurgatonic to Frostbite at least 30 times. As an 19th level High Elf Enchanter, I am still dubious to them unless I illusion myself. I have never done anything against them that I know of.

Point is, this quest does not give very much faction at all. unless you are a wizard or druid or have REALLY kind friends, doing this till you can do something else will take a LONG time.

I'm pretty sure the Barbarians of Halas are only interested in things that are new. I'm a lvl 6 Erudite Enchanter (not exactly the most favored combination) and the first time I went to Halas, I got better prices than my old barbarian character. Now I find I get worse prices, all shopkeepers con indifferently, all guards con dubiously, and every shaman NPC cons apprehensively. I've done nothing but the Cindi's polar bear collection quest and have the same results. What's worse is neither of my illusions is any better. Query-- Is it possible to wear out ones welcome in a city?

    PS dont kill the dogs.
    Gnoll fangs, stack
    # Jul 12 2001 at 3:11 PM Rating: Decent
I turned in a stack of 4 Gnoll Fangs (are you people sure these are not the same thing, just made stackable with the update?) even though only 3 were needed.

Got the gold (6gp), a ration, and the faction improvement. As advertised.

How many gnolls do you have to kill to actually raise faction with the Steel Warriors?? I've killed so many that I'll be happy if I NEVER see a gnoll again. I went inside BB and killed about 100 of them, turned in about 40 teeth to that lady in Halas and I still have only indifferent faction with the Steel Warriors which isn't good enough to do a quest.

    Fang or Tooth?
    # Jan 01 2001 at 11:22 AM Rating: Default
Ok there seems to be two different quests involving the gnolls in Blackburrow. One is in Halas (me homeland **smiles**) and the other in Qeynos. However, both use the words fang and tooth interchangably. This can not be right because they ARE different. If I am remembering right one stacks and the other doesn't. So which item goes with which quest?

Raise faction with the rogues by giving 4 mammoth calf pelts to the first male rogue you see upstairs in the top part of the bank (cant remember his name right off) you increase faction with the rogues and dont lose any faction anywhere else! (Oh yeah --when you give him 4 calf pelts he gives you a piece of black wolf armor you can then turn around and sell to merchants or PC's for plat..

The only problem with the quests that raise faction with the Rogues of the White Rose is that in my experience you need to have at least amiable starting faction with them to do their quests, and so far as I am aware only Barbarian Rogues can ever achieve that faction without assistance from an enchanter.

This quest is okay since you get plus most barbarian factions without any negatives. However, it does take 3 gnoll fangs compared to 1 in Qeynos which gives more coin and experience. This is pretty much a higher level quest for people trying to get the Langseax since gnolls rarely drop fangs.

If you are indifferent to the barbarians of the north, this is the only way to raise faction if you wish to do any of the quests involving Halas. You may not be able to get any of the quests untill you are amiably to the barbarians. I got a faction hit once after killing Frostbite and his guardian which got me to be indifferent to the Wolves of the North. After turning in Basil's head instead of receiving the Langseax, all i got from the guy was that he didn't trust me enough... Thank God it wasn't Paglan's head...

All the newbie quests in Halas, (gnoll fangs, ice goblin necklaces, etc) no longer lower faction with the Rogue guild. The faction hasnt' changed, so people who had gotten KoS still better not try and bank in Halas.
    Langseax faction
    # Jul 05 2000 at 1:42 PM Rating: Decent
My friends and I have been doing the langseax quest. Tank is a gnome, shaman a barbarian, and I am an Erudite Enchanter. Guess who's faction was high enough? 8)

Renth tells you to slay more gnolls or something of the sort. So one day, shortly after giving 2 heads to that ******* Renth and getting nothing, I started collecting gnoll fangs. I collected 21, and traded them all in to Lisbyth for faction. Well it got mine up to indifferent, and with Barb Illusion and Alliance, my faction was high enough for the Langseax. To give you a comparison, our gnome tank traded in 102 gnoll fangs to get high amiable faction. Bummer part is the banker is a rogue and won't allow our gnome to get to his banking, which I find stupid but hey, all part of the vision I suppose.

Kill a gnoll for me. :)
