Find Ramos Jerwan in the Plane of Knowledge (a barbarian near a pool at location -30, +1430) and hail him.

You say, 'Hail, Ramos Jerwan'

Ramos Jerwan says 'Good day traveler... perhaps you have come to help me with my studies?'

You say, 'I can help you with your studies.'

Ramos Jerwan says 'It's quite simple really. I'm interested in studying some aquatic specimens from around the planes... will you take up your pole and give me a hand?'

You say, 'How can I give you a hand?'

Ramos Jerwan says 'There are some particularly interesting cichlid swimming about in the Plane of Nightmare. I also hear the discus in the Plane of Valor are quite plentiful. I need you to bring me two sets of bones from each for study. You do know how to extract them, yes? If not, I believe the lovely Peras Glickon may have something that can instruct you. Best of luck lad.'

Nightmare Cichlid are fished in Plane of Nightmare, and Vallorian [sic] Discus are fished in Plane of Valor. Prepare these as per the standard prepared fish recipe: fish, roots, celandine herb, filleting knife in a tackle box, trivial 182. Give two of each type of bones to Ramos Jerwan.

Ramos Jerwan says 'Ah, you've done quite well. Take this, it's a special gift I recovered from a recent adventure, and I can think of no greater person to keep it than you. Remember if you're in need of fishing supplies, come see us any time.'

The reward is Fisherman's Companion, which summons Brell's Fishing Pole, adds 3% to Fishing skill, and, most importantly, summons ale.

Im sure that if you know to use Roots in the recipe, why not share "What kind of Roots"

Plain old foraged roots. Just ask your favorite Druid, Ranger or Bard for a few.

Or any iksar or wood elf. I forage these all the time, usually just immediately eat them to extend the life of my stat-bearing food.
More alcohol

Oh my lord do those people need to do some thinking. Disciple Symbol of Brell Serillis quest gives you a small +wis neck item and also has unlimited summon Brell's Blessed Stout. Once you have the symbol you can throw a party anywhere you want one :)

No Drop?

Are the Items you need to Fish for No Drop?

I submitted this Item and I can verify that nothing you need to finish the quest is no-drop. I had a freind in a larger guild who has access to Plane of Valor fish me a few discus, and I caught my own nighmare fish. With 200 fishing, the de-boning was trivial. The bones, I believe were also droppable. Fun quest with a fun reward.

Yes but how do you de-bone the fish after you get all the ingredience? Is it ion an oven or some other container?

Get yourself a tacklebox (which is sold in West Karana by the barbarian fisherman, in PoK by various people, including Ramos Jerwan himself; and I think someowhere in OOT) and cobine the fish, celandine herb (sold at any alchemy supply), root (foraged anywhere), and a filleting knife (smithed; 3 metal bits, scaler mold, flask of water, trivial about 82 smithng). You get the knife back succeed or fail. If you suceed you get prepared fish (eat it, destroy it, sell it, whatever you like) and the bones that you need for the quest. Fish perparation trivs at about 180 fishing.

BTW, for other tradeskills and quest that require you to prepare fish, you do it the exact same way, only difference is what kind of fish you use in the recipe.
