Terren Starwatcher says 'Welcome friend! Have you come to the Temple of Tunare to give praise or are you a young Cleric [seeking guidance] from your elders?'
You say, 'I am seeking guidance' Terren Starwatcher says 'Tunare shall be pleased to have a new disciple amongst her Koada`Dal children. We Clerics of Tunare offer spiritual guidance to the citizens of Felwithe and when needed aid the Paladins of Tunare and the Keepers of the Art in the defense of our people and forest from those [creatures] that seek to cause us harm. Every young cleric should pursue acquiring a [suit of armor] to protect themselves when aiding those in need outside of the safety of Felwithes walls.' You say, 'I want a suit of armor' Terren Starwatcher says 'You will need this Mail Assembly Kit to craft your Sylvan Initiate Armor. The materials required for the armor vary according to which piece you desire to craft. Once you have been suitably outfitted return to me and I will offer [further guidance]. Do you desire to craft [Sylvan Initiate Gauntlets], [Sylvan Initiate Boots], an [Sylvan Initiate Bracer], an [Sylvan Initiate Helm], [Sylvan Initiate Greaves], [Sylvan Initiate Vambraces], or an [Sylvan Initiate Breastplate]?' You say, 'I need further guidance' Terren Starwatcher says 'If you are ready to put your life on the line for the citizens of our homeland than hear my words. The Crushbone Clan of Orcs are evil and strong adversaries of we Koada`Dal. Recently an orc scout assaulted a merchant from our city carrying a valuable amulet from the Fier`Dal city of Kelethin. Our seers have divined the name of the orc that is in possession of the amulet, Gurleg Bribgok. Find this despicable creature and return the amulet to me so that I may return it to its proper owner.' Kill Gurleg Bribgok in Greater Faydark at loc 1987, 2304 in the NW corner. He spawns with the orc arsonist. Return the amulet to Terren Starwatcher. Terren Starwatcher says 'You have done well young Ansley. If you continue to show such devotion to your people and your faith then perhaps one day you will serve in the chambers of King Tearis Thex himself. Take this Rusty Sylvan Morning Star and scrape the rust from it in a forge with a sharpening stone. It may take several attempts if you are unfamiliar with the process. Once that is done bring me the Refined Sylvan Morning Star, a Pristine Drakeling Scales, and an Arborean Amber.' Your faction standing with Clerics of Tunare has been adjusted by 5. Terren Starwatcher fashions a grip out of the pristine forest drakeling scales, fastens the arborean amber to the pommel, and polishes the head of the morning star with a luminescent substance. Is the Arborean Amber NODROP? I've killed about 30 Mature Arboreans then went to the Bazaar, but no luck. Is this just another GM who knows I'm looking?
Dropped for me off an Arborean SAPLING. Yes, I was surprised, but it did drop and I looted it.
I wanted to see what brand-new EQ players would go through, so I started a new character on a new server where I didn't know anyone.
It took me three days to get the full set, mostly solo. Got from level 3 to level 10 just doing the armor mobs. I must say that these new quests are an excellent intro to the world of EQ. I wish they were around when I was sporting tattered armor and a rusty long sword.
I wanted to see what brand-new EQ players would go through, so I started a new character on a new server where I didn't know anyone.

I did this quest last evening, both con yellow to lvl 10 cleric. A lvl 10 Pally and I (lvl 10 Cleric) tried 3 times, died twice. What worked was the Pally cast blinding light on the arsonist, and while he was running around we took out Gurleg. Then arsonist came back rather angry, and we took him out. We both survived with perhaps 10 hp. and NO mana. But this was fun. Now I have to get the 2nd part done....

Killing Gurleg is not an easy task, as he spawns with the orc arsonist. Unless you have help from someone who can single pull, you're going to have to deal with both of them, which I believe were yellow to me at level 11. I've killed Gurleg a few times, and he had the necklace each time - if you kill him, you can definetely expect it to be there.
The items for the second run of the quest are all fairly rare. Out of roughly a dozen Mature Arborean kills, I got two ambers. Out of about forty forest drakeling kills, I got the same number of pristine scales (the other one for my friend's ranger tunic).
As for the sharpening stones, unless I somehow overlooked a merchant in Kelethin and Felwithe, the nearest place I found them for sale was the second windmill in Steamfont (path left from Felwithe; follow until it swerves left to a zone; follow the wall left to the next zone; follow the path in Steamfont until it, too, turns left).

I believe there are sharpening stones at the merchant by the forge in kelethin. It is near the newbie lift platform. I think on the same level as the soulbinder maybe up one.

Hmm, 1 more point of damage than most of the other clerics' weapons, couple more points of delay. The recommended level of this quest is 10 and at that time, clerics are doing some melee still. Plus 2 Wisdom isn't that great, but it is a newbie weapon so I guess every little bit helps if you are not twinked!
it um also hits magic. at lvl 10. thats pretty nice... For us cleric... Ghouls are a early and reoccuring nightmare.

Gurleg pops at 1987,2304 in gfay. right at the end of the log, spawn buddy is the arsonist for warrior quest.

Gurleg is NOT in CB, he is outside in Gfay. He hangs with 1 other orc called an "orc arsonist" who carries a torch. Both were yellow to 10th level cleric. Had to run away...gaurds killed both. Did not get a /loc on there spawn site, but it is NORTH of Kelethin...I think...sorry info is scanty but will go after them again today
If you go to CB zone entrance, turn left at the torches outside, follow the wall to the corner of the zone, they will be there. I just logged on my nearly nude 21 bard with Icetooth's Claws, pretty easy =)

I saw these two on my tracking, and went to find them. Both Gurleg Bribgok and an orc arsonist are at 1976.79, 2262.94, -0.53. I have screen caps for them both; I'll try to send those in tonight.
I saw them last night standing near the log in the Northwest corner of Greater Faydark.
