This quest begins with Manik Compolten in Ak'Anon, found at location 895, -465. You need to be at least amiable to Gem Choppers.

Note: you can do the Shiny Card hand-ins in any order. Detailed walkthrough: You say, 'Hail, Manik Compolten' Manik Compolten says 'Greetings, young one. I am Manik Compolten, High Watchman. Are you a [new warrior] or an [experienced fighter]?' (Note: As an aside to this quest, you can ask Manik about the Asylum of the Mad and about Meldrath.) You say, 'I am a new warrior.' Manik Compolten says 'It is always good to see new blood amongst the Gemchoppers. I have a small task for you. Take this keycard. I will give you only one at a time. Use each to obtain blackboxes for the C series clockworks. I am sure you are familiar with the clockworks. When you are done, bring them all to me. Let me know if you need another keycard.' You receive Shiny Card. Find Clockwork XIIC at location 1305, -377 (on an island in the middle of the lake -- you'll have to swim to get to it. You will need to be indifferent to the clockworks in order to give them the cards). You say, 'Hail, Clockwork XIIC' Hand the Shiny Card to Clockwork XIIC. Clockwork XIIC says 'Tick... Pop... Access granted.' Your faction standing with King Ak`Anon has been adjusted by 1. Your faction standing with Eldritch Collective has been adjusted by 1. Your faction standing with Gem Choppers has been adjusted by 1. Your faction standing with Dark Reflection has been adjusted by -1. Your faction standing with Meldrath has been adjusted by -1. You gain party experience!! You receive Blackbox XIIC. Return to Manik and ask for another keycard. You say, 'I need another keycard.' Manik Compolten says 'Here. Find Clockwork XVIIC at location +240, -35 (just outside the Mines of Malfunction -- between 9:30am and 8:00pm -- he's the newbie area 'guard') or just inside the zone-in from Steamfont). You say, 'Hail, Clockwork XVIIC' Hand the Shiny Card to Clockwork XVIIC. Clockwork XVIIC says 'Tick... Pop... Access granted.' Your faction standing with King Ak`Anon has been adjusted by 1. Find Clockwork XXVIIC wandering around the mines (near the tunnel that leads to the Mines of Malfunction -- in the paddle wheel room, or at the top on the Ak'Anon Wall or at these locations. 1773, -385 and 1952, -396 and 1990, -545). Hand the Shiny Card to Clockwork XXVIIC. Clockwork XXVIIC says 'Tick... Pop... Access granted.' Your faction standing with King Ak`Anon has been adjusted by 1. Take this log to Drekon Vebnebber. He is the in-house merchant at Gemchoppers Hall. It is his duty to file away all these logs.' Your faction standing with Eldritch Collective has been adjusted by 5. This is a cool quest to do because it leads in to getting a bootstrutter's Framed Pack, a 10% weight reduction, 10 slot bag. The stat's say it is for Med-small items, but I've put Leg-Choppers and Giant Tree Flayers and all kinds of other giant weapons, so I'm curious what large items WON'T fit into it.

Two of the aforementioned spawn points are slightly amiss... XVIIC spawns either in front of the mines, or atop the wall, because this is where I got its blackbox, atop the wall... XXVIIC is usually at the tunnel leading to the paddlewheel room, but today, I cannot find him. Remember, XVIIC was atop the wall, so NO this one is NOT at that point.

I think the location of XXVIIC in the description is incorrect, probably caused by
people getting XXVIIC (27C) confused with XVIIC (17C). 17C can be found either
at the entrance to the Mines of Malfunction or atop the wall just inside the entrance
to Ak'Anon. I found 27C behind the counter at the bank, though it isn't always there.

Ok..here's the info I got so far from doing this quest. I haven't finished waiting for Jogl to spawn. Ok i was told from another player that he spawns usually twice a month..around the 11th and 22nd. But while talkin to NPC like the guy below I found out that the giant clockwork outside walks to the windmills...(or attempts if not being camped)...to get repairs from Jogl. The NPC said it goes every five days so I assume so doe Jogl....I need to test my theory but its been hard since I cant play everday. Jogl is also part of a quest..I believe paladin which they have to kill him..not sure but I met a paladin who was camping him. Also the clockwork that is the hardest to find wasnt at the wall or at the mill..I found it in the water while swimming. Actually i fell of paddle mill and went over the edge and there he was. Not the one that spawns at the entrance to caves but the other one. Hope I helped a little.

Just learned of this quest and tried to complete it so I could get the duster quest (hopefully). Jogl received my 27c rusted black box, and gave me exp, faction, etc. But NO report. So quest may be broken -- or I just may be too high level. 25th level gnome wizard on Test.

I don't think its broken cause I got it to work for my lvl 9 warrior with no problem.

got it too, but finding jogl sucks. only found him at the mills after a reboot of the server which now happens every week thanx to VI

I had my lvl 25 palladin do this quest. It was given properly to him, and all splits were there( bootstrutters pack or mines of malfunction). Jogl appears around 8am every 5 days, but the 5 days is measured from when he disappears ( I think! ). He always appeared in the 3rd windmill next to Charlotte, and stayed there until 10pm, when he moved next to Watchman Mylz on the little hill. He stayed there for another day, then I had to camp.

I can't seem to find Clockwork XXVIIC anywhere. I am a ranger, and I have run from one end of Ak'anon to the other checking tracking, and looking at every clockwork I can find. If anyone has any ideas on where this guy spawns please post it here.

Where in the world is Jogl Doobraugh. I cant find him. I have checked all over the windmills. I talked to a guide and received a cryptic "You have just not looked hard enough, perhaps you should ask around." The response to my further inquiry did not pin down the answer to "PC" or "NPC".
I have heard all kinds of rumors from "Once a server Repop" to "only when God feels like it." If you have any other HARD answers for me let me know, and I will be greatful. If you have unfounded rumors... post at your own risk.

Jogl spawned for me once every 5 days, but I think that is measured from when he disappears ( either by himself or by being killed ). He always spawned around 8am in the 3rd windmill next to Charlotte, and stayed there until 10pm,when he moved out next to Watchman Mylz. He stayed there until 10pm the next day, when I had to camp.

He spawns at the mills by the guard on the hill. But sometimes he walks around, I heard that sometimes high lvls will kill him while killing the guards cause he gives good faction with Thedead, necro guild in neriek.

XXVIIC is on a timer. When I encountered it, it was between the Steamfot Zone and the POD right on the main path.
