This is for good aligned Human casters.

You say, 'Hail, Shana Liskia'

Liskia says 'Hail and well met _____. I am Shana Liskia, Enchantress of Freeport. I have studied my art for years here in our wonderful academy. I am also delighted to meet and teach those that come here to gain knowledge. My specialty however lies in Beguiling so I like to train young enchanters. Are you an enchanter?'

You say, 'I am an enchanter'

Shana Liskia says 'Wonderful! Let me be the first to tell you that your training here will be top notch and you will learn all that is to be known about being an enchanter should you put forth the willingness to learn. I will walk you through your early training and assist you in your hunting and gathering skills. I have created a [special sewing kit] that I present to all of the new initiates.'

You say, 'What special sewing kit'

Shana Liskia says 'This kit that I speak of is one that is able to magically infuse different components into materials used for creating Arcane Scientists Armor. The components that you use will be collected from numerous different areas and shops in Freeport. You will use these materials along with patterns that I will present you with to create your armor. Once you are [ready to begin] I will present you with your Enchanted Sewing Kit.'

You say, 'I am ready to begin'

Shana Liskia says 'Very well. Here you are _____, in this box you will combine specific component recipes as I mentioned before. When you are ready to attempt a specific piece you must tell me what piece you [want] to craft. For example if you had intent on crafting a cap you would say, 'I want to craft a cap'. I can offer you the recipes for Arcane Scientists [Caps], [Bracers], [Sleeves], [Sandals], [Trousers], [Gloves] and [Robes]. I must also suggest that you attempt your robe last due to the difficult nature of collecting the correct components.'

You say, 'I want to craft a robe'

Shana Liskia says 'I am very pleased to see that you have progressed through your armor pieces so quickly. I am also proud to see that you are ready to attempt your robe! To create your robe material you will need to combine 5 Woven Spider Silks, 1 Darkweed Snake Bile, 1 Cutthroat Golden Tooth, 1 Shadow Wolf Tibia, 1 Orc Prayer Beads and 1 Cloth Shirt in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a loom along with this mold to fashion your very own Arcane Scientists Robe. Be sure to come back to see me for a [final assignment] after you have completed your robe.'

Even though the quest is flagged for all races, these Arcane Scientist items are human only. I found out the hard way - after gathering the ingredients for all 3 of my int casters before starting. I made the first cap and realized my dark elf can't equip it :(
More about snake bile

Turns out it's a NO DROP item so my Warrior can't get it anyway.

I did get it though with my LVL 6 ENC.

You don't need to kill Large or Giant Rattlesnakes in EC to get it. Just go to to the grassy area at the top of North Ro and wait for a plain old Rattlesnake to come by. My LVL 6 ENC with Animation had no problem killing it.

I got everything I need for this one so far except the snake bile.

Purchased everything but the Shadow Wolf Tibia(NO DROP), which I got from my first Shadow Wolf kill in EC.

Took my LVL 10 WAR out to EC looking for snakes to kill to get the bile. So far lots of dead snakes (not to mention quite a few snake bites), but no bile.

Not sure if I want to take my LVL 6 ENC out snake hunting just yet unless it's in a group.

i just recently completed this with my level 6 enchanter on enrollsi marr server. you can buy most of the items for the robe all except for the snake bial, if you go to the western commonlands kill rattle snakes, i only had to kill one and i had my bial. after you have all the ingredients you mix them in the container you get from the npc who gives out the quest (don't remember the name) then put the new item and the pattern in a sewing kit and valla!
The Newbie Quests
# Nov 05 2002 at 12:05 PM Rating: Excellent
I'm going to relate my experience with all the newbie quests, as I just completed all of them.

I completed them on the Sullon Zek server, as a good aligned enchanter. So, unless you play on Rellos Zek, it was definately harder for me.

Robe: 5 Woven Spider Silks - Drops off of Large or bigger spiders.
1 Embalming Dust - Drops off any mummy in the game, either get a group or wait til you can kill one in Befallen, the desert of Ro or the little undead ruin in East Commons.
1 Rotting Zombie Skull - Drops off of the zombies in East Commons, undead ruins are hte best place to check.
1 Armadillo Tail - Armadillos in the North Desert of Ro drop this.

Sleeves: 2 Woven Spider Silks
2 Bones Chips
1 Spider Legs - Drops off any spider
Cloth Sleeves - Must be normal, e.g. not Large Cloth Sleeves ot Small Cloth Sleeves

Sandals: 3 Woven Spider Silks
1 Coyote Pelt - Drops off Coyotes in North Desert of Ro, drop rates may vary, took my monk 200+ coyotes to get two, and my enchanter got his on the first kill.
2 Black Bear Paws - Kill Black Bears in East Commons
1 Urticating Hair - Drops off of Giant Spiders, rare drop.
Cloth Sandals - Bought off of a vendor in North Desert of Ro, she stands in the dirt before the grass with the inn.

Robes: 5 Woven Spider Silk
1 Snake Bile - Does not have to be Darkweed. Drops off of rattlesnakes in Norht Desert of Ro
1 Cutthroat Golden Tooth - Drops off of random cutthroats in West Commons ( I bought mine at the druid rings vendor )
1 Shadow Wolf Tibia - Drops rarely off of Shadow Wolves in East Commons
1 Orc Prayer Beads - Drops off of any orc but the pawn
1 Cloth Shirt(no large or small! Buy at Inn2)

Gloves: 3 Woven Spider Silks
1 Giant Scarab Brain - Drops off of Giant Scarabs commonly (Duh.)
1 HQ Cat Pelt - Semi-Rare drop off of anything feline
1 Zombie Skin - Get this with the rotting zombie skull.
1 Large Leaf Scarab Leg - Drops off GIANT Leaf Scarabs, looks like a bird claw. Rare.

Bracers - 1 Woven Spider Silk
1 Desert Tarantula Chitin - Drops in the North Desert of Ro, off of Desert Tarantulas
1 Armadillo Tooth - Drops off of armadillos rarely (appently they dont all have teeth)
1 Cloth Wristband - Goto Inn2!

And your done. Erudites cannot wear this, they never will be able to. Stop asking. Its all NO DROP, and its a red color.

Snake Bile is some kind of random drop. Rare? Not really. When I play my Druid and kill some Darkweeds, I got 5 of them drop.
One day i decide to make a Mage, and start killing this nasty snake (My mage died a lot). Doh... got nothing... No snake bile...
I think LUCK does matter... =)
Happy hunting

So, does snake bile actually work or not? I've killed a million darkweeds, but no bile. I haven't tried rattlers, but I will now. Is snake bile no drop?

scroll down a little bit, yea right there. "WILL BE FIXED ON THE 24th" they work on all servers. beads drop at both orc camps.
They do exist
# Jul 24 2002 at 10:14 PM Rating: Default
I can definitely confirm that they DO exist. Just dropped for me in EC off an Orc Centurian at Orc 2. First one I killed and there they were. Was able to craft the robe without any problems using this recipe:

5 woven spider silks
1 snake bile (from a giant rattlesnake in EC)
1 cutthroat golden tooth
1 shadow wolf tibia
1 Orc prayer beads
1 cloth shirt.
RE: They do exist
# Jul 25 2002 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, I confirm the orc prayer beads are dropping on 7th Hammer. I killed six orcs centurions at and near EC Orc Camp 2. Of the six, two dropped beads. The beads are tradable so there is some good news there. I completed the quest not long ago using the listed supplied. I then took those and the pattern and combined them in a Large Sewing kit.

The result of all this is an AC5 +3CHA +2INT +5MANA robe. Just happy it is now working.

Patch day is on the 24th. Hopefully it will be fixed in that patch for the Production "public" Servers. When the patch is released they will drop at orc 1 and 2 in East Commons. They currently drop there on Test Server, usually 1 out of every 5 orcs you kill has it. Also alot of the items that were harder to get ( I.E. Pristine Giant Scarab Legs and Giant Firebeetle Brains ) drop more, so maybe this will also be implemented into the main servers as well. Keep your fingers crossed and pray! Smiley: bowdown

I just got the prayer beads in the nek. forest. They are not the correct beads. Thay are like the warbeads in that they are labeled with the name of the orc that dropped them. I have camped the orcs for a ffew days now and have not gotten the beads. Not one in the 4 straight hours on one day. This quest is not working because of the beads. I don't know how to request a patch or let anyone know there is a problem if anyone can tell me thanks. -Nivag

Orc Prayer Beads -- Problem Fixed

As you may know, paladins also need Orc Prayer Beads to make Truthbringers Bracers.

Check out the discussion for Truthbringers Bracers (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1873).

There is a message there claiming that the Orc Prayer Beads are now dropping from Centurions and Oracles in EC.

I am a level 16 Magician now. I have killed centurions and oracles and legionnaires by the dozens and NOT ONE has dropped the stupid beads. I have also asked MANY orc campers to send me a tell if they get them because at this point I will pay a fabulous amount of platinum for such a stupid little quest item. No one has responded. I think this piece of the game is broke.

My cleric got a full set of armor - doesn't need orc prayer beads. But my Palli needs them for sleeves, and so now has a set of armor minus sleeves. I don't know of anyone who has ever found prayer beads and I don't think that they even exist. I killed a hundred orc oracles with no prayer beads.

New Rumors
# Jun 19 2002 at 7:49 AM Rating: Decent
I have heard new rumors that The orcs of Misty Thicket might be dropping prayer beads, but have not checked this out myself. It does make sense, that the Prayer beads are not that close to Freeport. Monks need Orc legionaire bracers, which are dropped by Chrushbone orcs in Fadywer, Steel warriors need a lions paw which I belive comes form the Plains of Karana.

It seems each or most of the quest involve one item you have to travel far for. Also, as a side note, I believe the orginal intention for the spellcasters armour quest was to actully use the large square looms you see in cities, but they either never got it to work or messed up. As most of you know, you have to use a sewing kit. If you read some of the other racial spellcaster quests, (like the gnomes) they are directed to use a sewing kit, not a loom.

Most of the warriors and other classes, have to sue a forge to complete their quests, I always thought it was funny that spellcasters didn't.
RE: New Rumors
# Jul 01 2002 at 12:12 PM Rating: Default

they are not in misty either. btw sometimes the looms are called looms and sometimes sewing kits. if you click the one in ak'anon its name is sewing kit but it is the same as a loom.
RE: New Rumors
# Jun 20 2002 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
Hey guys...I hate to tell you but the loom works. you must be doing something wrong. My chanter got all his armor but the tunic and used the loom. The only reason I didn't get the tunic is because of the beads. And the other quests didn't have to go far away for one item. The warrior and bard and cleric gets theirs from no more than one zone either way. Either NRo or EC.
Btw. I got tired of waiting to find the beads and went to Qeynos. I got a friend to help with the bandit sashes over there. and I'm wearing a qeynos tunic now. :D
RE: New Rumors
# Jun 27 2002 at 2:15 AM Rating: Decent
Arcane scientists don't need a loom, any sewing kit works fine. Monks, however...I'll get back to you.
RE: New Rumors
# Jun 21 2002 at 7:35 AM Rating: Default
Also, not all servers are the same. So in your server, the looms may work, but in others, they may not.
RE: New Rumors
# Jun 21 2002 at 7:33 AM Rating: Decent
Well, how did you get the loom to work then? Did you click on it and it opened? Did you place one of the items on it?
RE: New Rumors
# Jun 23 2002 at 5:39 AM Rating: Default
Walk up to the loom, left click on the wooden framework of the loom, has to be the framework, not the cloth hanging in it. Hope this helps.
Beads
# Jun 19 2002 at 7:43 AM Rating: Default
I have the beads, and the Snake Bile is now from rattlers, neither prayer or war works, and the Snake Bile or Darkweed doesnt work, eitehr way they are both wrong in a sence. I did get a light of hope tho, someone told me orc highway priests drop these as well and they are called just orc prayer beads so lets get crackin on the highway in oasis
RE: Beads
# Jun 20 2002 at 12:12 AM Rating: Decent
The snake bile works for the bard armor. The only thing I was waiting for was where the prayer beads are found.
Robes
# Jun 18 2002 at 11:40 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I have never found the prayer beads in questions. And I even got beads from Orcs in the Nek. Which didn't work. I've even petitioned for help, and got an archaic answer back about how they can not divulge the habits of the Orcs. Personally I think the item does not exisit.

But there is HOPE! Go to Qeynos and do their quest for a Robe, it works. You need to get their beginners sewing kit to use, you can't use the one you got in Freeport. The woven spider silk is the same. The other items are different. The bandit sashes can be gotten from the bandits in WK. The last thing is that you need to do is buy a sewing kit, large or small in Qeynos. For some reason, the one I bought in Freeport didn't work. But the one I bought (and then sold back) in Qeynos did. you get Robes, and they are pretty good. +10 mana, and an INT bonus and such. Then you can do the weapons quest.

Keep the sewing kit you get in Qeynos (and the freeport one) and stick them in your bank. They have large storage and can hold ten items. In fact, I went around to all the guilds and got all their kits and suck them in the bank, giving me lots of storage for free.

I have found the snake bile off of the rattlesnakes in North Ro. I got my bottle of snake bile off a giant rattlesnake.

It is called "snake bile" now.

I have yet to get the orc prayer beads and that is the only piece I need for the robe.
I HAVE FOUND THE PRAYER BEADS!!!!!
# Jun 17 2002 at 12:27 PM Rating: Decent
Listen everyone. I think i have found them. I was fighting one of the orc camps (the one just of the left side of the Nek. forest (if entring from E commonlands)) on a lead saying the orcs drop them there. I got a group togehter and all of a sudden a High cheif Waddhdjoj appeared, we killed it and i looted it. just a necklace (i thought was war beads like the rest) and left it, but then i though "There are only 3 war beads, i have them, and that one i just saw didn't look like any" so i took another look and it said "High waojdoj PRAYER beads." I think those are it, I couldn't check cuz' i was still missing snake bile (it was changed from darkweed snake bile to just snake bile). I know that this is PRAYER beads, not WAR beads, i triple checked, I hope this helps you all. PS: Gaint and regulare rattle snakes drop the bile. Arcrond the grey.

war beads are not the same, i have found prayr beads in the darkies forest but they do not work, as far as i know the beads which we need do not exist atm.

just save 60pp and go to luclin to the casters guild up there and buy a better robs then what you would be able to make anyhow.

beads and bile?
# Jun 10 2002 at 11:40 PM Rating: Default
Has anyone actually finished this quest? If so, please post the stats of the item. Also post where you got the darkweed snake bile from and the orc beads from. I have killed tons of darkweed snakes, and orc oracles and seen no sign of the bile or the beads. And don't say they are the warbeads off the named orcs, unless you have actually used them to make the tunic. Thank you.
RE: beads and bile?

Large Rattlesnakes drop the bile too. It MIGHT have been renamed to just "snake bile". I found this right after the patch.
RE: beads and bile?
# Jun 11 2002 at 10:33 AM Rating: Decent
I don't know about the beads, but the bile, in my experience, Giant Rattlesnakes drop them. In theory, darkweeds should drop them, but I have never them drop one with any of my characters. Hope this helps. Walk with Marr. Ornith, enchanter of the 9th season.

She has quit talking, but if you give the proper responses anyway, you get the kit and the patterns. My question is: Has Darkweed Snake bile been renamed to just Snake Bile, which is what dropped from Rattlers today, or does it now drop from Darkweed snakes as intended?

I finally got so fustrated about this quest I asked one of the GM. Of course they are useless, but he said that he himself has seen pray beads but would not give me a location.

Then I asked if war beads where the same he would not tell me... all in all I'm sick of the run around. If anyone ever solves this riddle please post!!!
